The Great Curly Top, Mr Ian Hunter, a class act and still going strong at over 80, with a new album coming out. Regarding Mick and Ariel they both had a great run with Mott. Mick contributed more to the song writing but Ariel was more animated on stage. Let’s just appreciate both of them. A great band and a wonderful frontman.
Shed a tear at Alice. One of Hunters finest ever songs, toon & lyrics. Stayed with Ian since '73. Still staying' especially if you bring along those Coggenhall Queens.........
Of course, Mick was a Lot more sensitive and "less is more* Type of guitarist. But: Mick could have never done the apokalyptic solo in Marionette or the lead playing towards the end of Crash street Kids....Ariel fittet the Band really good in 74
Saw Ian hunter 3 Times in London last gig 2001 before immigrated abroard, expat thailand and cambodia, don't miss uk ,but miss live gigs and live footy, that's all
Jupiter, I hope that’s playing at the gates of heaven. When I come skidding up sideways, beer in one hand, joint in the other. Vaya con Dios. St.Paul,Minnesota.
I never got to see the ‘73 Mott, but I did manage to see them on the ‘74 tour….and I’d probably agree. Mick is an overall better player….period. That being said, it was still a thrill to see them….and Ariel looked every bit the glam star! It’s a travesty that Mott hasn’t even been considered for the Rock Hall…..shame on them.
Aerial “Old Fart” Bender should’ve cooled his jets since his solos were pedestrian at best and had nothing of the flair of his past. The solo in R.I.P. was ruined by the overuse of the whammy bar! The extended arm in the air was lame but Ian and the rest of the guys were great!
@@jimyobbie7226 Ariel was also great in Spooky Tooth but the 74 tour was his time to show how awesome he was. Listen to his work on "The Hoople". Just mind blowing.
Ariel's Guitar thankfully is not plugged into an Amplifier. If you are even a beginner Guitar Player and watch him carefully you can observe him just pretending to play. He's like the Johnny Depp of Mott the Hoople. Lol
Like The Faces Motts looseness and inter band dynamics were all part of the package. Neither Ralphs or Bender is a very good guitarist but they both had what Mott needed. The Hoople was a weak album compared to ATYD and Mott. Some great tracks on Wildlife and other early albums. For a 78 year old it’s great but it’s essentially a tribute band.
Ariel is slightly older here as I am, but as a fan of the band I must say you are being a tad harsh. Ariel's work with the band at the time of it's existence was first class in my opinion. Twas great to see Ian include Ariel and Morgan Fisher in this tour after the originals tour in England. Just love seein blokes my age havin a go.
@@ronharris1481 MTH was full-on Glam after Mott and Bender fit in perfectly. TBH, when I first glimpsed him, my first impression was, who's that old lady?
THEE GREATEST R & R BAND OF ALL TIME! Thanks LARRY! :)
I was there in 74 and again in 19. Plus the countless times in between. The greatest rock n' roller ever. All hail the King.
Amen Brother
Amen...

How can anyone be that good at 79 years of age? The man is amazing.
First saw Mott live in 1972. They were great then and they are great now. Thank you posting this film.
Sadly, his Tinnitus took away my opportunity to see this show in Seattle. Nice to see what I missed. Thanks!
Me too...in Los Angeles...I was devastated a second time...first was in December '74 when I read they broke up...😐
Ian Hunter ,really rock and roll living legend
Never got to see Mott with the original line up but did get to see Ian solo a couple times, incredible shows.
Great show! I was lucky to be there. Thanks for posting.
Warms my heart!
the great upload of the greatest band !!
涙、感涙 !
tears, so much tears !!
thank Larry さん so much
I had absolutely no idea they played in NYC..I flew to London to see them at the Hammersmith Odeon 13 years ago...5 night stand...
Me and some friends saw 2 shows in London....great experience
"Arial Bender" looks like he is ready to lie in the casket.
Mott is pure rock and roll. Just an awesome band.
Ian Hunter is as f'n cool as it gets. Hall of fame is where he belongs.
“The RRHOF is lame.I’m glad I’m not in it.”

Saw them in 1970 Philadelphia, opened for Ten Years After...... original Mott
Sooooo lucky, happy to be there.
What a great show!
LEGENDA.....
Ariel Bender is no Mick Ralphs. I saw MTH with Mick in 73 and Ariel in 74 and Mick was better.
Of course, Mick was a Lot more sensitive and "less is more* Type of guitarist. But: Mick could have never done the apokalyptic solo in Marionette or the lead playing towards the end of Crash street Kids....Ariel fittet the Band really good in 74
@@nicoleehrhardt2533 Mick was great for Mott but he wouldn't have done well on The Hoople. Bender was just balls to the walls.
How rude.
Ariel Bender is an accomplished guitar player he's far better than Mick Ralphs
If endless pentatonic solos are your thing
Rock on !!!
Brilliant, Aerial take a step back, stop trying to "Be the man" just enjoy being there! Your a very good guitar player at best.
To be fair, his playing here was clunky at best....

great
Ariel Bender looks like Mrs Doubtfire
I’m not sure why he had his arm in the air🤷🏻♂️every show
Always loved Ian Hunter, but watching this I was afraid someone was going to break a hip, or stroke out onstage.

1969 we have Party in the Hotel 🇨🇭
Ian Hunter was never a great singer but he's a Great Front man and sings with a lot of Heart !
Why Bender thinks he's the star of the show beats me...
God Bless This Rock ' n Roller ! /// Intro by David Bowie
músicos maravilhosos. a própria alegria.
You can't stop rock and roll..,.
I was still in NYC - how did I miss this?
LOve it
The jacket Ian Hunter is wearing looks like a Japanese school uniform, Gakuran

Did they come all the way from Memphis?
NO!! (CLEVELAND ROCKS!!)☠️
What's with the green guitar guy having his own party?
Saw the original band when Queen was touring with them. This is a very poor reenactment of those days.
BE THANKFULL AND ENJOY THE SHOW!!✌🏻
I SAW MTH & QUEEN IN 73 AT THE URIS THEATER ON B-WAY IN N.Y.C.
GREAT SHOW BOTH BANDS WERE ON THE MONEY.👍🏻

Is that Ariel Bender next to Ian?
Absolutely.
ariel is the reason i bought a guitar one ofthe most underapreciated greats

KNOW THAT LID ANYWHERE 👑
That was Bowie in the intro.
No Mick Ralphs, not Mott the Hoople,
Maybe Ian Hunter’s Rock n Roll Revue?
Ian Hunter is King
quite a few "clunker" notes during this performance. Fines will be assessed...

Have another look, he's using a wireless system. Listen carefully and you can hear him playing too.
This isn't Mott....no Ralphs, Watts or Buffin..Hunter is great but god..Bender is annoying.
Why is Bender in front of Ian.. ridiculous
saw them in 73-74.. the best. but now they toy with dudes so much.. i'm almost sad.

Ariel trying to be something he isn't, a Rock an roll star.

Not thrilled with his on stage antics, but let’s give Luther his due ,best work was probably with spooky tooth
