Wait..what can you do that dosnt cost at least $30 usd anymore lol? for airsoft in the US its a 1 time all day purchase which i like to milk. Eating out is expensive and tip culture is insane, things like escape rooms are like $40 for 1 Hr with a 60% chance of walking out feeling like an idiot, movies are like $15-20 with varing experiences. I honestly think its fair in price. The cost of living is just higher now and working is becoming more mentally draining depending on the job, with little to no adjustment to the inflation. And thus its more fulfilling to just stay home than take a chance on further dissapointment meeting people. I dont think its dying (at least in the US) i think people's priorites have changed which in turn invites less new blood into the hobby. Anything involving pew pews is looked down upon so i dont blame you in this platform. The reason why i subbed was infact you were an english speaker who plays in the motherland of airsoft, perhaps make a video for the English audience on how to play airsoft there and how far once can get with 0 Japanese? I still look forward to any future content you may make. good luck with everything.

Although statistically I'm probably in the minority I really enjoy your game play videos as it's interesting to see how the sport is played in its country of origin.
I'll be attending my 1st indoor CQB field this weekend "there's very few in the U.K" and I've been watching your game plays to get a feel for CQB.

I want wish you the best in the future. Times are changing and priorities shift when you least expect it. I hope things do improve for you and for the channel.
“Is Airsoft dying where you live?”
I live in mid west and the airsoft scene here has actually been growing, there’s been a surge of newer players that come by to my local field, they try it out and fall in love with the sport and come back. Eventually they’ll be getting into gear and guns and now a new airsofter is born. The community here has been growing for the last 2 and half years since the local field opened and in that timespan opened up 2 more fields a bit more spread out the state. Lots of more and more players try it out and we even get players to travel far to visit the field, so I can say there's still a healthy community in airsoft. Casual skirmish, milsim, speedsoft they've all kept a pretty healthy balance of players. In the United States in general has a healthy playerbase coming in and trying it out, I'd say airsoft hasn't never more been this accessible with new fields and newer products coming into the market being so "budget friendly". I can't speak for the entirety of all players, but for the general consensus is that there's still new players and new fields opening keeping airsoft the ability to grow.
Perhaps due to the Yen tanking, it's taking a hit for airsoft due to Japan having such a already atrocious work culture and people already not having time maybe some players quit due to the same financial reasons like you said, same with fields closing. Anyhoo enough rambling, hoping all goes well for you Maydaysan and that things turn out well. ♥

I didn't consider subscribing to your channel until I watched this video. I found it really insightful and it resonated with me because I'm also at this stage right now that it's not about me, but about the other players.
Here in Switzerland (the french part at least), airsoft is not very active, almost dying out. Fields are closing one after the other and there aren't many active ones. My passion for airsoft is still alive, so much so that I'd like to relaunch my channel at some point but there are no nearby fields from where I live and travelling more than 1 hour for simple team deathmatches just doesn't do it for me anymore. I'm about 24, 36 or 72+ hours milsim OPs now and it's way more interesting and that's an area where it makes sense to invest time, money and effort into.
Anyways, I'll be watching more of your content and glad you're moving in a direction that's more in alignment with your needs 👍🏻

I’ve recently taken a step back from going airsofting mainly because of work and the holidays. But I’ve looked at airsoft as an out for me whenever I’m not at the gym or doing something active I just go out and have some fun. At the end of the day your happiness is most important too not just what we want. I think maybe what you might want to look into is becoming an ambassador for new players and try growing the sport more not that you don’t already. I get what your saying truely. I life in Belgium and the reason why i started airsoft when i was 16 or something was too go out meet some people and just enyoy like shooting realistic toy guns in fact. I have autism so its really dificult for me too expres myself in public and such things. And airsoft helpt me with it. Like grow a personality and such things being less alone. But now im 25 and when i look back. There is nothing much changed. Im still alone, im curently unimployed because its really hard for me mentaly and fsychily, i have airsoft guns that don't have seen the field one time. The last time i played was in october around halloween and that was it. Its like i dont want to go but something is holding me back every single time. I still buy some airsoft guns and gear. Its more like im collecting them now instead of actuley go out and play with them. And i don't know what happend or where it went wrong. But the fact is also what your saying. Airsoft is NOT A CHEAP HOBBY. Not in this country or any other country. And when your low on the bank its makes it hard. What your saying is so true at that point you have other things on your mind and other personal costs. I think personaly it is a big part of it growing up in a world where nothing is easy anymore. And yes some people have it a little bit more easier then others. But i think most people dont. I mis the time when i was a kid and didnt have too worrier about everything. This video man it hits for me. What ever you do i wish you the best of luck 🌟

You only need insurance which is 50-60 € per year. Then it's just bbs ,( 15€ for vfc) and gas if u use gbbr ,( i refill gas in a specialized shop and it's like 2€/L)

So I do this as a hobby and upload videos on the side (and not often) so it doesn't compare to trying to make your living off of airsoft, but I have hit the burnout wall a few times and also relate to airsoft costing too much to be "viable." I personally don't like walk on games all that much. I get together to spend time with my squad and then we plan out for a few milsims a few times a year (obviously not really applicable in Japan).
I think we have a need to not just be "comfortable" raking rentals and walk ons all day, we have a need to want to progress to something bigger and more interesting. (Also as working adults it's easier to book a weekend off to go crazy on a milsim for a bit). Also when I blow a ton of money on a loadout for an event or pyro, it's an easier pill to swallow when it's part of a team effort for me.
When I look at popular vids by like Jet or Novritsch a lot of them (clickbait aside) are guides or top-ten style videos that tend to be new player bait. I think there's a lot of people who constantly trying to climb that "progression" to trying their first milsim, their first big field game, their first weekend game, and look up a bunch of videos in the process of learning.
But yeah, if your personal life has been hit hard by airsoft and it's negatively impacting your life, that might be the right decision to step away from it. Hope it works out for you either way.

The thing is with owning lots of different airsoft guns there isn't much point. They all fire 6mm bbs, they all mostly do the same thing but a lot of them take different parts or magazines with create additional costs. I used to own an M4, M16, MP5, M14, AK and VSR. I sold all of them and bought a nicer M4. Now i have that M4, Car 15 and MP7. I have no desire to buy more and like you say its really expensive. In one year i spent about £2k on airsoft and a lot of it was unnecessary. Now i'm into car mods, bought a GT86 and a bunch of mods and wish i had at least £1k of that airsoft money for my car 😅

Maydaysan, it is a weird ebb and flow in Airsoft, man. I've been around this goofy, silly, fun hobby for almost 20 years, and we see a lot of these ups and downs. Most of the Airsoft fields I had access to in Japan between 2010 and 2013 were all in Chiba and other more rural areas. There wasn't an indoor field in Tokyo, I will say if some of the more established outdoor fields begin to shut down, that would be alarming. Firsts shop in Ueno closing was crazy news when I saw that on Twitter (X). I was shocked and sad all at the same time. That was one of my favorite shops, I bought my last Airsoft gun in Japan there. Anyway, good luck on the future of the channel. I'm looking forward to seeing more stuff. I'm glad to see you're back in Japan and chasing P, may the odds be forever in your favor 🫡

35 American dollars to play Airsoft!? Whoa! Here in Spain it's usually 10-15€. That's nuts! I usually spend maybe 30€ in a 1kg BB bag that lasts several weeks then spend 10€ whenever I play. If it were 30-40€ per match I just wouldn't play.
I hope this is a lesson for everyone that hoarding replicas isn't the essence of the sport and that it can harm your finances. I currently own one replica per class except a sniper, which I borrowed indefinitely from a friend that quit (he rocks for doing that haha); y'know, to have some variety when I play as sometimes it can get a bit stale after almost two decades playing if you don't spice it up. But even maintaining these, upgrading them, experimenting with them... it can get expensive. I do understand you have a big channel but if those replicas aren't being granted by sponsors for you to evaluate them (or borrowed as you said!) it can get bad real fast like it happened to you. I think you can take this as a lesson and perhaps experiment a bit with your content, I don't know. Hoping you recover yourself, buddy!

This is all very expensive and I keep thinking "I'm a collector, I appreciate the physical thing and the very details of them".
Meanwhile people over in the states keep whining about how expensive a 4-700 dollar gun is, I'm like: you should know how much we europeans spend on this stuff as, for many of us it's the best way to get the most accurate replica because even deactivated gun market is turning to sh*t.

I have heard, that in Brazil, airsoft guns basically cost the same as the real ones. Also importing certain accessories, like scopes, that are used by the Brazilian military and police, is forbidden. But I also heard that a lot of cops and soldiers play it as a hobby, as well as for training.

I couldn’t agree more when you brought up your collection video. When I watched that, ironically I started to count and see how much I’ve actually invested in airsoft all together. It was shocking to the point that I started selling stuff to recoup back some funds on items I know that’s only going to be wall hangers.
Whenever your back in Toronto EVEN if your just visiting. Definitely don’t be afraid to hit me up to run some games. I’ll make sure you’re covered from gear, to transportation and even your food haha. You won’t have to spend anything.
And you’re absolutely right with gameplay videos. I started doing some one to one talks with my camera (lmao) it was awkward at first but it’s been doing well for me and it’s even reached a lot more people than I thought it would.
Hope to see you succeed with this change!
Stay safe my man! Love from Toronto! Kraken and I will be ready when you visit 🫡❤️

Moved to Japan and I can't play with any guns like in the US. Airsoft is the only way I can replicate the feeling of moving, shooting, and reloading. Japan rules means I can just play with a pistol (Gold Match Hi Capa and 5 mags) on my 3-gun belt and not be totally outgunned. People are great too. The venn diagram of otaku and shooting enthusiasts is a circle, so I always get along with everyone even though I barely speak.

    Stay strong man !
I understand totally your point of view, about airsoft in Canada, i’m French so here Airsoft is 100% legal, no orange flash hider, Bill C21, or very high prices, i’m lucky about that, Airsoft is just forbiden for -18 years old, and limited to 2J...that’s all and it’s very good.
But for the cost of a day of Airsoft, sure, it’s different for everyone : i have a car and the field is 25 minutes away, and it cost me gas, i play 2 times (sometimes 3) per month, only AEG, no GBB (here, i pay my 0,20g/0,23g around 12 euros for 5000 bb’s) but i never calculated the cost in gas, i’m not using my car during the week so maybye not that much...
I used to play with an M4A1 MWS and i remember that the time to fulfill a magazine was...20 to 25 seconds, and i was able to fire 2 full mags....not very cool with gas consumption...i sold my MWS because of that, i was buying so many gas bottles, it was terrible!
I used to have 17/18 Airsoft guns before, different platforms, gear....i realised it costs me...a LOT, and i was playing only with 2 or 3...
So i sold most of my guns, i have 2 guns and one GBB maximum, no more, sometimes just one gun, and it’s a lot better, better for me, my girlfriend, and my wallet...i had some compulsive behaviour (like looot of airsofters i guess, we’re so weak sometimes) and i bought again and again, and sold it 1 month after...not very clever.
I realised that for me, happiness, satisfaction in Airsoft comes with the constraint, i have one/two guns, but i choose them with the greatest attention, it’s like a "you have to pick one or two for one year" challenge and it’s quite refreshing 😊
Good luck for the future !
    Greetings from France

Out here in Utah airsoft is mostly community hosted. There are 2 official fields. There boe battlegrounds which is events only and milsim city. There's also 2 shops and one of those is a cqb arena. The arena is close but their sister store which has a lot more stuff in SLC. I buy mostly online since I don't like driving on a big city and especially in a garage with a steep incline to get in. Almost a 90 degree angle. A lot of the Utah games are free but Kay's cross games cost money and are few and far between which is why I play at 12th St Ogden. The rest is quite a drive. 1hr 40min to the tunnel for blackthorn. Even farther for the ruins aka silver city. I don't know how far the outpost is. which a ghost town with an abandoned mining facility. If there was another fear factory game from blackthorn that wasn't invites only id be down. Fear factory bis a haunted house that they let airsofters use off season. I don't know if they still do. I took spend way too much on airsoft. I have a much smaller collection. Cyma Aks74u which is unfortunately cursed. Nothing but problems and think what happened is that a boneyard gun got mixed with with the other guns by accident and I Just happened to be the unsuspecting customer who bought it because all the newer sign is which have been out for a couple years at the time had the blue passing parts. All mine still had the white plastic parts and the clear nozzle which is brittle and can break If you're right at a higher muzzle wall, see which I was not and it hasn't broken yet. I have a double eagle aeroknox so I with the kestrel V2 in it because Taiwangun includes that out of the box. And I have a rpk16 which is my favorite gun because I get to use full auto we're buses time. I don't get you and on top of that it shoots laser beams because of the macaron bucking I have reaches out super far. My latest gun is my cyma platinum MP5. It's a speedy boi. 25 rps on n an 11.1. I got a perun forV2 for it that I still need to install after Christmas because I get. That. Entire week off all the way until after the 1st of the year. I just Just didn't feel like in selling it or couldn't find the time to do it for this weekend at least I also have two handguns which is my armor works the VX7 which unfortunately you can't get in Japan and my KJW hicapa which you also can't get in Japan. Yes, you may be able to get your super heavy customized metal slide hicapsa in Japan if you import a metal slide, but it really depends on whether or not your field will allow you to use it and yes, CNC can handle real firearms because there's actually a CNC machine as the ghost gunner 3.0 that can CNC, AR-15, lowers and possibly slides and frames for pistols. Anyone can own it because it's the size of a 3D printer Is if I'm not mistaken, some of these are supports are made of aircraft aluminum. But of course they're out of spec and we're just not be worth the time. If I get a handgun one I want as a we deagle. It's a gbbr in a pistol.

@maydaysanAirsoft Hey man, I'm a fellow Airsofter from the UK here, I completely understand where you're coming from and as many of the guys on here say, priorities change in life broski, I can only go once a month myself. If this advice serves you in any way then heres my 2 pence:
Your review vids are great - 2 of my favs are your Krytac Vector Build and the T238 RGB tracer Videos - your approach really appeals to the average airsofter so please do more of that
If people are willing to loan you some of their gear then rate, critique and just rate the builds - you definitely have the charisma for that
If possible upgrade suggestions based on peoples builds (reddit being a whole hive of info)
Really look at the 3D printing market for airsoft upgrades and showcase some of the custom projects people are coming out with
and of course the obvious one - just get a normal job and let this youtube thing be on the side so you're not so heavily dependant on it.
But mostly my dude, dont give up man and good times are coming :)

Crazy that airsoft is getting this expensive. Coming from paintball where the cheapest modern electro-pneumatic paintball guns are around 5-$700, without an air tank or loader, and a case of paint is much more expensive and extremely perishable. Always felt the most expensive thing in airsoft was keeping your gun from breaking. Once that problem is solved, the cost of upkeep is much lower.

People that doesn’t play shit about it, and people that play don’t have a really good reason to watch - the hardcore players try to understand your decisions and tactical movement, or people that want to know the fields that we play… so the retention is crap.

wanted to comment that in america, atleast in the PNW it seems to be alive and well, I only have 2 fields I play at, the outdoor one is CONSTANTLY is getting first time players, anywhere from 50-100 per game. (games are once a month)
the indoor one is farther away from me, as I understand it, speaking to the owner, winter is their peak season, they are limiting the players on the field to keep it from getting flooded, so I might have to sit out a match or 2. cant comment on summertime.
that being said I watched your video on the strange and bizzare rules japan has when it comes to airsoft, and it truly does not look like fun in japan, no running?!?! no respawn!?!?!?
I rarely watch a gameplay videos in its entirety on youtube, but yours draw me in and I watch the entire video, Its like I can feel the stress and urgency watching your game play videos.

I had to quit airsoft fully. I worked at my local field and was deeply involved in my local scene. I shouldnt have been. Becoming more in tune with the "culture," and "business," of airsoft made me realize how terrible airsofters in my area are. Bad attitudes are too prevalent, toxic as shit competitive obsessed scene , And getting to know the major players in my area more to realize how scummy they actually are.
It sucks because I love airsoft, the gear, guns, playing, and when people are playing it as a game to have fun, it's dope.
When it's 25+ men that still have something to prove to someone, it turns into spamming your trigger as fast as you can and arguing close to a fist fight everery other encounter. When it got to the point that I felt like I couldnt play without using my polarstar, because I have to shoot people that fast that many times to get them out? I'm done. It's an assault case waiting to happen.
