+Exotik Looks like Corsair and NZXT exchanged designers. Spec Alpha looks ricey. My cousin has never built a PC and he likes it, but most 1st timers do. My first case was a Phantom 410. Now it's an Air 540.
+Exotik I was thinking the same thing. Sure, it wouldn't suit any situation, but if your desk that certain style to it, it'd be a pretty nice case to have.
+Tymm Von D ricey? if the internals specs is lesser than the competition then yes but we are talking Corsair here it's function AND form, it's like saying a Lamborghini cars are just looks with no benefits and crappy engines
the spec what ever looks cool, better than just a black box. Though I'm sort of the minority since I also like how haf x looks because personally I think it has character even though the aesthetic isn't really functional
+PrototypeTheGamingHell Somebody hasnt built when internet's down Also CD's >_> Why any1 would want an external paperweight over internal optical drive is beyond me. I mean the asthetics *shudders*
the glass door on the carbide 400c looks really nice, and the fact that the door completely comes off is nice to give the most room to built the computer inside the case!
+PrototypeTheGamingHell -_- Its joke for fuck sake the real name is Corsair Linus just did a joke understand m8? Google Quarsair and see if you get the company that are making these cases -_-
"The word they asked me to use was polarizing when I said repugnant or something like that" LOL. Loving it. I have the 400c and it's fantastic, so much space after everything is put together in it, so much room to upgrade.
Just finished a budget AMD/GTX 1070 mini card build with the 400c for a friend, very satisfied with the end result. Cheap, relatively easy to build and manage cables/cooling tubes with, with some minor cramping. Had to prehang the fan cables before the mobo went in, while the fans were dangling over the side to keep the cables tucked after. You won't be able to push them through the edges like some jumbo Lian Li towers, so you have to plan around your fans/radiators first. I love not having space wasted on optical drive bays, but you will be flipping the case around a bit in your hands to finish it up from the tight dimensions. No big deal, the case is alot lighter than it looks and is super easy to lug around for LAN matches. The last of the cables will be gracefully hidden by the shroud after you're done, which will give you a little rush of pride. The price was excellent, which left enough $$ for adding the new RGB HD fans, making it pop but still look dignified. The front panel can be popped off easily, which I like since I stashed the owner's copy of Windows & a thumbdrive with drivers in there (they ALWAYS lose their damn disc or thumb drive before it's time for a full restore). My friend spends alot of time just admiring the tower itself now, and it "matches" the 34 inch ultra wide screen display and RGB lit peripherals on the desk very well. They just go together without being obstructive or tacky. Now that other tower? Yeah, I won't be building with that unless it's a customer who wears a WWE or TapOut shirt.
I actually kinda like that last case. It looks high grade with its design, while still having some flare. Just imagine. All editing PC's at linus media group in a black version of this case with an orange "X" thing. That would be so sick
+David Trollston I'm actually considering getting SPEC Alpha. Right now it's my favorite case with Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Acrylic / Corsair 400C, and I have to choose between them in few months (going to build my 1st PC).
I do like the Spec Alpha. They have a very modern element to them with the angled lines in the design and the fact that you can customise the color scheme.
That 400C looks like a great case for the price! I love my 760T because of that window and hinge system from Corsair. Definitely going to recommend this.
I used to have a mATX system, but the mobos are so fragile, and it got burned by the PSU. Didn't really have very good features anyway. Hope the same doesn't happen to you.
As a Mexican I can confirm most gaming PCs over here look like Christmas trees. So, yeah, that hideous case will be a hit down here in the fourth world.
+Muddy Fudger failing quite hard too aswell i'd say :/ wich is kinda sad to me, i've always loved Quarsair's case-design, this sleek, simple and modern design. but now its like they've come to a point where they dont know how to take the next step.. :/
Honestly that last case looks really amazing, I'm one for function over looks but when it comes to corsair I feel like they integrate both amazingly and I wouldn't have a hard time buying that case
the spec-alpha cases seem to have taken a lot of inspiration from the nzxt phantom line with the sharp angles on the front and the bold glossy white plastic... I like, a lot
I think the Alpha would of looked fine if they didn't have that weird overlapping case on the side, it looks like its a case in a case but one half fell off
Personally, I like the Spec Alpha. It looks bold, makes a statement, and the angles are fierce enough to give it the appearance of a high end rig, without you having to have amazing hardware inside
I like the Spec-Alpha case, as my rig is supposed to be "inspired" by the ships we saw in No Man's Sky, and I really want a cool metallic-grey/blue version of it to suit the build.
to be honest the best case i ever saw was the H440 from NZXT, the color choices just made it almost perfect, i wish it had a single optical drive slot not for a drive but for a fan controller. however one thing i think desktop cases need to get into is using slot loading laptop drives so that you can still have your drive on the rare case you need it but its hidden
I personally think the spec-alpha looks pretty cool, especially the orange and black one so with seeing your reaction I understand them calling the design polarising :D
As a long term lover of the NZXT Phantoms (I own a 630, great case) and preferring a less 'plain' case like the standard Corsair 'D' line, I can say that the Spec Alpha is pretty neat. I don't know how I feel about the high ridge around the side window though, makes it feel smaller, I'd prefer a larger window with a low profile border or none. Looks like when it comes out it may be a contender for my next build with those front panel ridge being very reminiscent of the Phantoms
honestly i love my spec alpha. it has a unique look. not like most cases where it just looks like a black metal box. i wanted something different and it definitely does what i want it to do
The 400 would have been my next case if it had a spot for an optical drive. I know a lot of people have abandon them and for good reason. But I still need one in my main rig.
I actual like the look of the spec alpha. It has a very unique and sharp look to it. I would almost compare it to the CoolerMaster Storm Stryker. It is a very unique and original design. Thanks Linus, the coverage of CES 2016 is great.
I really like the white and orange Carbide Spec Alpha. I wouldn't have it on my desk but I think on the ground next to a desk it wouldn't be too overpowering, but a bold accent to a room.
I love the look and features of the 400C. I'm currently using the Spec-02. I like it a lot and I'm happy with it, but it's one of those situations where I want to spend more money and get something nicer.
All new cases looks like the Nzxt H440 and have 2 thinga in common 1 is the psu shroud to hide all the cablea and 2 is the acrylic/glass side panel window...
I always thought the NZXT h440 was the best all around silent case. But I have to say, I am very impressed with these Corsair designs. Knowing that an in depth review would undoubtedly show the excellent craftsmanship Corsair is known for, the only thing that could hold these cases back would be the price point.
Wow, those look very pretty. I haven't watched the whole video, but if it doesn't show a white version, will it come in white? I prefer my cases to be white. (The boxy case with the huge hinged window, not the sharpish one.)
the 10 fps in the squarespace ad makes me feel sick
+flowild YES
+flowild But you can make a beautiful website
But you can.....Build it Beautiful!
Yeah, with 1fps scroll animations LOL, great advertising.
+flowild Human eye cannot see more than 12 fps so its not too bad.. :)
I'm sold on the 400c for my new build :)
+Jamie Bell agree with you cant wait for its release
+LoGIc MoTion it's already released...
Remember the C stands for 'Quarsair'..
+Gibbzee Where can I buy it then?
+Drew Mangione I don't think it's out yet these cases are like pre release ones just for show.
*That Spec Alpha is so ugly even Squarespace couldn't Build it Beautiful...*
+4ndrewwaite Fugly?
burn!
+4ndrewwaite Too muchh lolololol
+4ndrewwaite just got the 69nt like
+4ndrewwaite Nailed it LOL!
Linus pulling furiously at the shroud.
And thats another part for the LinusDrunkTips recorded. K what's next ... some drops?
+DiZh0 hes trying not to drop things
i can tell
seth have you seen the 50k headset vid, i mean ffs hold it with 2 hands pls, i was so worried while watching it
DiZh0 because hotel california
+DiZh0 Literally been watching CES content that I might not be particularly interested in to see if Linus breaks something xD
*I dont know why everyone is hating on the spec alpha, imo it looks amazing!*
+Exotik Looks like Corsair and NZXT exchanged designers. Spec Alpha looks ricey. My cousin has never built a PC and he likes it, but most 1st timers do. My first case was a Phantom 410. Now it's an Air 540.
+Exotik it looks like a transformer.. great to show off but for "everyday" use an industrial design (flat) is better.
+Exotik People who generally like "gamery" look like it, others don't. Simple as that. I'm in the other group; prefer minimalism.
I remember watching you years ago when you done a capture card giveaway xD
tornado63o I'm more amazed you still remember that lol I wish I never did that honestly, but I destroyed my channel so no point in sulking about it
+Pyroblock (SPG) I just think that it would go with absolutely nothing in my room
+Pyroblock (SPG) it's called the spec alpha
+Pyroblock (SPG) The red and white looked cheap and chessy , but the black and gray with led fan looked kinda classy and futuristic. I liked it.
Phanteks new $69 case blows this out the water
Where can I see it
+Addison Buhl See hardware canucks channel
+Leandro Jack Phanteks is unstoppable right now! They keep pumping out amazing cases for low prices.
***** Yeah!!! They're about to take over
+Timmy Turner yeah, awesome cases.
Picking up the 400c today
I think that orange and white case was sweet...looking up the prices to order one now....
I personally really like the Spec-Alpha that was showcased in this video. When i make my next PC, that could be the case i pick to use
Love these 2 Cases, but man I kinda still need a Optical Drive :(
Wy no1 uses that any longer
External OD?
+Corey Watford use an external drive
+PrototypeTheGamingHell
people still use correct spelling though, so should you.
+PrototypeTheGamingHell Somebody hasnt built when internet's down Also CD's >_>
Why any1 would want an external paperweight over internal optical drive is beyond me. I mean the asthetics *shudders*
the glass door on the carbide 400c looks really nice, and the fact that the door completely comes off is nice to give the most room to built the computer inside the case!
I like that Spec Alpha case that Quarsair are making
Wtf is Quarsair? Its Corsair that are making all these cases -_-
Did you watch the video?
+PrototypeTheGamingHell -_- Its joke for fuck sake the real name is Corsair Linus just did a joke understand m8? Google Quarsair and see if you get the company that are making these cases -_-
+Thomas Edwards Even the title on this video is Corsair -_- Duh...
+PrototypeTheGamingHell You must not understand the joke then....
"The word they asked me to use was polarizing when I said repugnant or something like that" LOL. Loving it. I have the 400c and it's fantastic, so much space after everything is put together in it, so much room to upgrade.
I like the spec alpha. It looks aggressive but also very clean and modern.
Just finished a budget AMD/GTX 1070 mini card build with the 400c for a friend, very satisfied with the end result. Cheap, relatively easy to build and manage cables/cooling tubes with, with some minor cramping. Sorry the accent thing being orange I meant*
+Woodepic Media totally agree with you. Getting ready my budget when this case comes out. Gonna get the red one of the orange one.
A black case with nice silver accents would also be very appealing. But I would rather have a white case with blue accents
Spec Alpha - PURE LOVE - i fall in love of that angular and deconstructivism style !!! and the fact is white and orange. My go to colors. . . .
I like the spec alpha...
Bring the hate
+Rusty Shackelford I'm not mad at it. Some people would argue it looks juvenile but I really like sharp angles and different designs. Good on Corsair.
+David Trollston I'm actually considering getting SPEC Alpha. Right now it's my favorite case with Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Acrylic / Corsair 400C, and I have to choose between them in few months (going to build my 1st PC).
Linus' coverage is the absolute best.
T_T why is everyone removing 5.25 inch bays
+Erik Nasaroff doesn't mean it can't be used for anything else such as more usb 3 slots memory card reader etc.
+ASDF GHJK for those things there's USB stuff.
+Tiago Luz what about water cooling in a small case? some people use 5.25" bay res's... or even dual 5.25" bay res/pump combos.
+Yvera these cases are made for water cooling, check some builds on the Define S, bay reservoirs are a thing of the past
*****
i got all 3 populated, dvd burner, card reader and a drawer. A fucking drawer in your pc, do i need to say more?
The Spec Alpha looks amaizing, and the colors possibility's are nice to make an awesome custom setup
how many fps will this case add?
All of them.
+LDM // how many is that? please no troll.
Get the red one and it'll automatically OC to get optimal 60 FPS
I do like the Spec Alpha. They have a very modern element to them with the angled lines in the design and the fact that you can customise the color scheme.
Am I the only one who thinks the Spec-Alpha should be black/red and white/silver instead?
+Zyanide09 White and Black. I currently have the Corsair 780T White and I love the color combo of white and black. White and red looks odd.
+Zyanide09 should be in the dumpster....
+JBoyTheGreat White/Red looks fucking godly when done right.
Woah, when did this become a place for harassment?
I love Corsair cases, they're so sleek and clean looking. I love my 450d so much, but I might have to get one of these for my next build.
nahh im more of a minimalist when it comes to aesthetics, i can see how it others might like it, but its not my style.
You're a fractal design customer right? XD
yuppp hahaha
same here :D proud minimalist R5 owner :D
The white and red case is SWEEEET. Great videos as always, Linus!
Well the "C" standing for "Corsair" would be no more redundant than standing for "Clear" since you said "Clear" first, lol
+Josh Kellett just leave
+6973chris2 No you!
+Dark Session I am
0:57 The other shroud is to cover the hard drives or SSDs, not only cables.
400c nice
That 400C looks like a great case for the price! I love my 760T because of that window and hinge system from Corsair. Definitely going to recommend this.
I just bought a SPEC-03 a month ago and now I want the 400Q D: R.I.P
+RoBoSkullz I was thinking about getting the spec-02 well I guess I will change that point
+Lukas Netzker The SPEC-03 is basically a SPEC-02 with more violent looks, I like it a lot, but a 400Q looks so much better! D:
I bought a spec-02 a week back..
+RoBoSkullz Still haven't seen anything that makes we want to sell my 350D. If the 350D was ATX compatible it would be the GOAT.
I used to have a mATX system, but the mobos are so fragile, and it got burned by the PSU. Didn't really have very good features anyway. Hope the same doesn't happen to you.
I think the last one was sick! Looks futuristic and looks perfect
Meh in Australia it will be $170...
I personally love the look of the spec alpha. That shape with the red and white is amazing 😍
As a Mexican I can confirm most gaming PCs over here look like Christmas trees. So, yeah, that hideous case will be a hit down here in the fourth world.
+Steve Dice Your avatar warrants an upvote to pretty much any comment
I love the spec alpha personally. It's so sleek and the angular pieces look so different than any other case I've seen.
They're trying too hard with their "modern" designs.
+Muddy Fudger failing quite hard too aswell i'd say :/ wich is kinda sad to me, i've always loved Quarsair's case-design, this sleek, simple and modern design. but now its like they've come to a point where they dont know how to take the next step.. :/
+Muddy Fudger Meh, we always have the obsidian series. The Spec looks fine though.
+Alcatraz Aronsson what? there are two new modern box designs in this video. what are you on about?
that last one looked awesome, idk about you guys but that triangle look is sick AF
Linusroughhandlingtips
Bought a 450D last year, and boy it is amazing, not planning to change it for a while.
its a ricer case, so fitting the target market
That alpha case is one of the most unique cases i've seen. I'm definitely gonna pick one up,
pleasebeavailableinwhiteplease
I like how at 4:00 you can still see the linus footage on the right
The Carbide 400Q looks like a great silent case with awesome minimalistik design.
3:08 I got soooo excited for a minute...
props to the good editing and b-roll keep it up!
Honestly that last case looks really amazing, I'm one for function over looks but when it comes to corsair I feel like they integrate both amazingly and I wouldn't have a hard time buying that case
Corsair is ballin with the case designs. Loving it.
the spec-alpha cases seem to have taken a lot of inspiration from the nzxt phantom line with the sharp angles on the front and the bold glossy white plastic... I like, a lot
i have this and its a good case wish u had more cable management for the back but over all its awesome
I think the Alpha would of looked fine if they didn't have that weird overlapping case on the side, it looks like its a case in a case but one half fell off
I'm more of aesthetic kind of person, so I love the Spec-Alpha. I love the futuristic feel of it.
I really like the looks of that red and white case.
"towers over you menacingly, even though it's kind of small"
Like Linus on a stepladder
Cool cases like that white and red simple colors, that go well together.
Personally, I like the Spec Alpha. It looks bold, makes a statement, and the angles are fierce enough to give it the appearance of a high end rig, without you having to have amazing hardware inside
That white case will be the case for my first computer, I love it!
Def liking the Alpha white/red case, that thing looks crazy!
I can appreciate the full glass door, nice case imo depending on final price
Carbide is really nice for a mid tower case. I don't know if I can ever give up my full tower Rosewill Thor though, love it so much.
I like the Spec-Alpha case, as my rig is supposed to be "inspired" by the ships we saw in No Man's Sky, and I really want a cool metallic-grey/blue version of it to suit the build.
I like that last one (Spec Alpha or something like that) a little bit more than the others.
Since when have there been 2 minute long ads that you can't skip? I mean, that's almost half as long as the video itself.
taking things apart again!! XD cant wait for the linusdrunktips video.. hope you guys are making one!!
And a huge thanks to LinusTechTips!
Just ordered this C version. It's gorgeous!
to be honest the best case i ever saw was the H440 from NZXT, the color choices just made it almost perfect, i wish it had a single optical drive slot not for a drive but for a fan controller.
however one thing i think desktop cases need to get into is using slot loading laptop drives so that you can still have your drive on the rare case you need it but its hidden
linus Please never stop being yourself.
I personally think the spec-alpha looks pretty cool, especially the orange and black one so with seeing your reaction I understand them calling the design polarising :D
Aha! I see Corsair wised up and Linus-proofed their new cases. Good on you, Corsair!
I like how all the top comments involve SQUARESPACE in some way. Build it butiful
I really like the spec alpha. Only thing I'd change is to have a larger viewing window on the side.
I mean, the case does pretty much nail the color scheme on Linus's polo so... How can he not love it ;_;
As a long term lover of the NZXT Phantoms (I own a 630, great case) and preferring a less 'plain' case like the standard Corsair 'D' line, I can say that the Spec Alpha is pretty neat. I don't know how I feel about the high ridge around the side window though, makes it feel smaller, I'd prefer a larger window with a low profile border or none. Looks like when it comes out it may be a contender for my next build with those front panel ridge being very reminiscent of the Phantoms
I REALLY like the spec alpha, looks super cool
honestly i love my spec alpha. it has a unique look. not like most cases where it just looks like a black metal box. i wanted something different and it definitely does what i want it to do
The 400 would have been my next case if it had a spot for an optical drive. I know a lot of people have abandon them and for good reason. But I still need one in my main rig.
Heaps of people love the nzxt phantoms and the aesthetics of alienware pcs so this is a welcome addition for them
Love the 400Q and C tbh. I like the black and grey spec alpha
Thank you Squarespace!
I like the spec alpha
If it went with a crazy peripheral setup it would look dope
All new cases looks like the Nzxt H440 and have 2 thinga in common 1 is the psu shroud to hide all the cablea and 2 is the acrylic/glass side panel window...
I'm Chinese and I'm super stoked on this. No honestly, the white and orange one looks sick. I think I'm gonna use that case for my next PC build.
I always thought the NZXT h440 was the best all around silent case. But I have to say, I am very impressed with these Corsair designs. Knowing that an in depth review would undoubtedly show the excellent craftsmanship Corsair is known for, the only thing that could hold these cases back would be the price point.
After I watched all the clips of CES, I now officially dream about sqarespace when I go to sleep!
Wow, those look very pretty. I haven't watched the whole video, but if it doesn't show a white version, will it come in white? I prefer my cases to be white. (The boxy case with the huge hinged window, not the sharpish one.)
Wow, the 400C looks amazing. Looks like Phanteks finally has some competition with the Enthoo Pro M for highend midtower builds.
Definitely getting this case on my next build
Spec looks rad imo. Very Mirrors Edge. can totally see some themed builds coming out of it.
reminds me a lot of NZXT with the alpha's angular designs & the boxy nature of 400c
I would personally like to see a full side windowed version of the SPEC Alpha
I love the spec alpha, it looks sick.
Wish this was out when I built my rig
The Carbide 400C Corsair's answer to the NZXT S340 and CM MasterCase 5. Wish it arrived a year earlier...
