I first thought I should dislike Tauriel as she is a main character invented completely for the film. But in the cinema, although I didn't like the romance, she was so a great character, and her music theme helped a lot.
Tauriel is a great character. I read the book when i was a child and I love what Peter did with the movie. It´s a good job. Some people don´t like it because he didnt make the movie 1:1 to the books impressions.
If he had done that, the same thing would have happened as with all the other tries to film LOTR; it would have failed. I read the books and although I did that, in my opinion, the changes, Peter did, were really nice and helped to make the film much better and more interesting (because it's not too long).
I like the books too. In my opinion, film and book - they're both great. I love the book because we learn much about the history of middle earth and the film because it's a great version of the book! I do not understand the people who think that the film is too short and all the details are gone and so on. I say to them: try to find people how like a 6-hours-film. xD
I agree. He definitely added more personality to the characters, something that lacked in the Hobbit books. A perfect example is with Thranduil. Peter added more to Thranduil’s character then what we have seen in the book.
Tbh I watched the hobbit 6 years back but like the elves theme sounded so good I love the flies and spiders it can shiv your spine after hearing it's powerful song
I've read every book on Middle Earth and Tauriel was lore-friendly and one of the better more accessible identifiable characters in the movie. I was genuinely surprised she was handled so well both on paper and in her performance.
The romance, however, was not lore-friendly. Dwarves and Elves aren't meant to be together like that. Humans and Elves? Possible, yes. Dwarves and Elves? No.
gsimon123 That's something I had actually forgotten about. But that never turned into a romance or anything. So again, not meant to be together. Gimli and Galadriel were not.
CaptainPlums That makes no sense...You should'nt have involved the relationship between elves and humans into making your point. I don't know if you are a 'bookreader' but just because the relationship between dwarves haven't occured (in the book) and the relationship between humans and elves have, doesn't make it less plausible or something.
Oscar Slagveer It does make sense, actually, so don't jump at me with statements like that. It has to do with the gods by whom they were created, there's a page where you can read all of this but if you want to know why I'm right and why it does make sense, you can try to Google it. The link to the page is no longer within my reach.
This is a beautiful theme, and I love, love, LOVE Tauriel's character, and I think Evangeline Lilly did an amazing job with her. I swear I could very well have hated her if the performance was botched up, but Evangeline was flawless. The love triangle is unnecessary :)) I like the Kili/Tauriel romance but having Legolas as a jealous third seems excessive. Still, I like Legolas and Tauriel as orc-slaying partners in crime, so it balances out.
I really enjoyed the romance. I thought the dialogue pertaining to starlight and moonlight was beautiful. One far away, ancient, aloof. The other bold, new and warm. The elves and the dwarves summed up. Both bearers of light, despite their differences. I don't mind that it deviated from the book, I thought it was executed very well.
I don't care what people think about the character or plot, you did an incredible job of mixing this! Without looking, I could not tell when you switched between tracks. And I TRIED. Very well done!
everyone is talking about a love triangle, but i REALLY don't see one. She might have liked Legolas before but honestly she seems to lean more toward Kili and doesn't seem torn between them.
I agree with you. I really haven't seen a love triangle either! Legolas might be a little jealous, but I just haven't seen anything romantic between Legolas and Tauriel unlike the feelings I'm seeing develop between Tauriel and Kili!
exactly, and even Thranduil pretty much warned Tauriel that there was no chance between them simply because he did not want his son, a prince, to pledge himself to a "lowly sylvan elf". You can pretty much tell she had some interest in Kili at that point but when Thranduil made that warning anything she felt for Legolas was gone. While I'm sure she still counted him among a close ally after that, I don't think her intentions with Legolas were of a romantic nature since by the time the dwarves escaped she was already interested in Kili. ( if you look at her actions during the escape down the river scene, and theres of course the kingsfoil scene). now ive also had people argue that theres no way two people could fall in love THAT fast. i have one thing to say to that. my husband and I did. A few run in and a conversation, and Ive seen people fall in love even faster and are still together. sooo teehee. Again I actually really like these two together, but I have a sneaking suspicion I know how this is going to end. Kili I know for sure but with Tauriel I have a few suspicions.
Evony Wolfram You and I are thinking a like where Tauriel & Legolas are concerned! Tauriel might have had some feelings (may have just started to develop) for Legolas, because she did have a funny look on her face when Daddy said NO WAY between her & Legolas, but she got over them pretty quickly! I think if this stupid war hadn't come along Kili and Tauriel would definitely be together! I've had to stop watching all the previews because it's getting to the point where you could almost watch the entire movie on RUclips! I want something to be a surprise when I see the movie and what happens to Tauriel & Kili or at least how it happens I don't want to know! P.S. Congrats to you & your husband. And, yes, there is a reason for the quote "Love at first sight!"
i could listen to this all day everyday. this is seriously one of my favourite themes in the hobbit films! i just can't get enough of it and i don't know why - it is so captivating and it makes you powerful and like you can conquer anything. i'm in love ^U^
How wonderfully they invented and executed Tauriel's character ought to say a lot about our beloved film industry's ability to create and flawlessly implement the new with the old... Great product of diligent creativity.
Very cool and great put together. My personal favorite of the soundtrack is "Inside Information". All the pot gongs and interesting percussion gives it a very new and haunting feeling to Middle Earth. Like combining contemporary music from Eastern Europe with Asian instruments. Fits with Smaug.
Thanks for posting! I love listening to this, and the music goes very well with Tauriel! I love her character, and I'm glad she was added! Evangeline Lilly has done a tremendous job as have all of the actors in the Hobbit movies! I love her with Kili, but we all know it's doomed before it even starts! Really not looking forward to this last movie!
the actress adored playing her so that should say something and ive seen that if an actor enjoys and adores playing a character you tend to get a better performance, and I in all honesty enjoyed this addition even if she was only in the movies.
Evangeline Lilly did an incredibly amazing job with Tauriel! She also had the best theme. It's very graceful and powerful which suits tauriel in perfection!
I read The Hobbit and in my view Tauriel is a good character.Of course I love her soundtracks and if she wasn't in The Hobbit it wasn't The Hobbit that we like
There is also a non-soundtrack cover of her theme and some of the Sylvan Elves themes from The Hobbit film trilogy: If you listen to the credits of the second Behind the Scenes DVD from the Extended Edition of The Desolation of Smaug, the Tolkien-themed band The Fellowship did a live cover, on mostly historical instruments. It's a neat little musical easter egg, so if you own that BtS disc for TDoS, give it a listen. The band did a really great rendition. (You should take a look at their In Elven Lands album too, it's very well done.)
I love this song so much that it makes me want to cry. I love the composer of this song. I love all of his songs in all of the lord of the ring's and the hobbit movies. I love him very much, he is the best composer in the world of eternity!
This is true, some new soundtracks are cool but we can be disappointed compared to the LOTR because in those films, all soundtracks were perfect, here just some of them, anyway it could be worse^^
I think far too many people are comparing The Hobbit to Lord of the Rings, they're very very different, despite both being part of a wider story. The soundtrack is very different in The Hobbit because so much is different. I love both The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, but for different reasons. From The Hobbit, The Lake Town theme is one of my favourite from both trilogies!
With all that love triangle shit, I tought I wouldn't like Tauriel. I mean, a completely new characters that brings drama... Not for me. But I honestly really liked her. Evangeline was, I think, really good, and here theme is just purely beautiful.
Her theme is beautiful yes, her fight scenes are awesome, but her character... Bleh. She betrayed her king, Legolas, and her duty for some dwarf she just met and talked to once. Why? Why would she do that?
CreativeUsernameEh I think it is hinted that Thranduill treats her and her people like second-class citizens he can order aroung, and there is a lot of hints about Legolas's authoritative and entitled behavior. In movie language, he always tries to be above her and she's trying to flee in the corner, in most of their shots, to reach for something else. And Kili offers her that freedom, which is why they speak about faraway lands and unattainable heights (the sky) in their first conversation. She likes him because he makes her feel free. But yes the love triangle is not as great as a simple Kili/Tauriel romance (or unlikely friendship with a subtle hint of romance) could have been.
Ha volte penso a quante meravigliose infinite dimensioni fantastiche esistono, incredibili ma reali quanto la nostra, come quella dove si trova la terra di mezzo... He sometimes I think of how many wonderful infinite dimensions are fantastic, unbelievable but real as our own, such as where is the middle-earth...
That was my expectation, too! That I would just see Kate Austen every time she was on screen. But she did such a great job as Tauriel that I forgot who I was watching after half a minute.
I actually think adding this new character was a smart decision and it made the movies better. The trilogy has a lot of downsides and it is far from the LOTR trilogy but Tauriel was a good addition despite not figuring in the book. The woodlands elves were amazingly done as a whole (Thranduil was probably the best new character of the whole trilogy). I don't think adding Legolas was a smart choice however. And the love story made me cringe.
Back in december/january, I used to listen to these a lot, but then I kind of stopped for months, and now that I am listening to this compilation again, it's just... wow. All of my memories and my love for the Hobbit just comes back all of a sudden. I love that feeling.
It would be nice if they changed the plot a bit from the books cause you know this love triangle is killing me on the inside cause what will happen when movie 3 comes out :(
Why do people assume this is a love triangle between Tauriel, Legolas and Kili? It was never mentioned in the film that legolas had any feeling but friendship for Tauriel?
A whole scene examined this theme in The Desolation of Smaug and other ones gave signs of it. In the third film it is made clear by sentences by Legolas himself.
Márton Kispál Tell me which scenes and which sentences. It is easy to interpret theses as signs of love and jealously, but how can't we be sure he's just afraid of loosing a friend to a dwarf. Perhaps like his father he sees dwarves as lower than himself.
The scene with King Thranduil and Tauriel about how Legolas starts to think of Tauriel more than a friend nowadays... All the scenes which involve Tauriel and Kili together while Legolas is there, too. I think you are maybe the only one who think he is jealous because he shares such a deep friendship with Tauriel.
I first thought I should dislike Tauriel as she is a main character invented completely for the film. But in the cinema, although I didn't like the romance, she was so a great character, and her music theme helped a lot.

Yeah, a film is way too short to sum up the book... But i agree, this film is really great (way better than the first imo)
I like the books too. In my opinion, film and book - they're both great. I love the book because we learn much about the history of middle earth and the film because it's a great version of the book! Howard Shore is a genius. She was actually a great character, which did indeed surprise me as she was made up for the film.

Billie4Mozzarella I love seeing Legolas jealous, I don't know why:P He is soooooo cute!
***** Thank you! Omg, it all makes sense! I totaly agree. Plus with Thorin and Legolas saving each other's lives, that certainly helped.
Agreed! Well said :)
I really enjoyed the romance. I thought the dialogue pertaining to starlight and moonlight was beautiful. One far away, ancient, aloof. The other bold, new and warm. ***** It was almost too sad! I wish there could have been more scenes between them in the last movie. The second movie will always be my favorite.
i could listen to this all day everyday. this is seriously one of my favourite themes in the hobbit films! i just can't get enough of it and i don't know why - it is so captivating and it makes you powerful and like you can conquer anything. i'm in love ^U^

this is awesome. i love the soundtrack but this compilation is even better!!! Tauriels theme is strong n catchy
5:58 FUCK YEAH!
Yesssss orgasm
The Hobbit 3 is beautiful Love Tauriel theme
6:34 EPIC.

ikr.
For a character that was not in the book, she's a good character lol.

5:55 and 6:17 is the best for me
I much preferred 9:04 . But its only short and lasts until 9.20
Great video, man.
Tauriel's theme is the best music in the Hobbit! 3:16 and 5:55---> best parts!
But 6:17 is the best part... :(
Crammle indeed!!!
:D
Howard shore
I absolutly love 5: 58
Des musiques à la western j’adhère ! ça donne une ambiance particulière ... des gros killeurs ces elfes ...

Wonderful
Best song of the trilogy!!!
Some of it sounds like the Main title of Silence of the Lambs. It makes sense; they were composed by the same person
Leggy showed me, that men can look good with long hair..... he's so cuteeeeeee!
She is perfect 😍
Tauriel is a lovely character.
I'm sad her personal arc got overshadowed by this clumsy romance plot
It would be nice if they changed the plot a bit from the books cause you know this love triangle is killing me on the inside cause what will happen when movie 3 comes out :(
I want a constant play of 9:04 - 9:20
28.09.2022 Güç Yüzükleri Hobbitin Orta Dünyanın Havasını vermiyorrr Thorin Bilbo Gandalf Legolas Tharuiell

What is the officail name for the score at 6:02?
"Flies and Spiders" starts at 5:55, followed by "The Forest River" at 6:17. :)

Márton Kispál However it really doesn't seem like he does in *a lot* of other scenes. Also why are you getting all offensive? Is there any need?.....
The Elves all times have the best music :D
