The one thing she really upset Bette was Joan campaigning against her during the 1962 Oscars. It also was just plain stupid. When films win awards they make more money. Both women had percentage rights to Baby Jane. Joan needed the money because of her crazy spending habits. She missed out on a big chunk of change.

Are there people out there who can back up what Davis said, that Joan contacted them and persuaded them not to vote for Davis? Joan was probably upset in not getting a nomination so she found a way to insert herself into the Oscars. Davis, on the other hand, was upset that she lost and try to rationalize it by blaming it on Joan. Joan accepting the award for Brancroft didn't help matters and Davis felt that was a deliberate slap on her face.
I was an extra at the Denver filming and it’s true what Ms Davis said. We had to wait a couple hours to get our lunch. Dunaway never knew her lines, was always asking someone to tell them to her. Ms Davis came out, did her lines, no mistakes and when she finished, the place erupted in applause!!

She was about three sheets to the wind, and some poor boy who was sent out to get her off stage kept saying, "Miss Davis, Miss Davis," obviously terrified of her, was trying to get her off of the stage. She wasn't mentioning her by name in order to denigrate her character, she was answering a direct question, honestly. Nowadays everything would be vetted in advance to ensure against anything even remotely controversial or damaging to the person being interviewed. I prefer the way it was back in the day when interviewees felt comfortable, to some extent, speaking their mind.
Faye dunaway just got fired from "tea at 5" prior to its Broadway transfer, for treating the crew terribly and acting like a real Mommie dearest, with truly outrageous and outlandish behavior. I believe everything that Miss Davis is saying.

I agree. As much as she personally detested Joan Crawford, Bette nonetheless referred to her as a consummate professional. She also never said anything negative about Anne Bancroft, to whom she lost in her bid for a third Oscar. So jealousy was definitely not a factor at all with Bette.
The thing is, they're provoking her here and taking advantage really. You can totally tell that KIng must have seen the previous interview and thought it would be funny to get her to say some nasty things on his show. Whether she's just being honest, or is maybe not exercising the best judgement, it seems like all the media wanted from Davis was to badmouth people for their entertainment. So she gave them what they wanted. I doubt there was real animosity towards other stars. Clearly Dunaway did one thing that annoyed her once, and it's being blown up into a major thing.
It seems to be the general consensus, and yet I had Ms Dunaway as a client in the late 70s when she was married to Peter Wolf and living in Boston. I sold her skin care and fragrance for a year and a half, and she was consistently polite and kind and oddly shy.

Stuart Ashbourne-Martin Faye Dunaway is literally the only actress Bette Davis has said something negative about on multiple occasions. Obviously, Bette was very passionate about her dislike for Faye. I am sure Bette could have mentioned numerous others she's worked with over the years, but she didn't. Also, the only negative thing she saids about Joan Crawford is that Joan campaigned against her during Oscar award season back in 1963 because Joan was jealous. Of course this is Bette's opinion of that situation. Many in Hollywood have said negative things about Faye, I am very surprised that Warren Beatty agreed to walk with Faye on stage twice at the Oscars 2017 and 2018. We all know that an actor or actress can arrive late on set due to a number of reason, but to purposely hold up production because of a hissy fit is extremely selfish. Bette is right, it was very unprofessional. Kate Jackson from Charlie's Angels once gave a hissy fit on set and she wanted to close it down and go off on a date with Warren Beatty. Only after Kate agreed to cover the cost of that day's production did the producers agree to shut down.
Mamadou Aziza As a huge Bette Davis fan, I must admit that I have mostly read/heard her saying bad things about other actresses than saying nice things.. Even here, she spoke against Hopkins too.. Davis had her flaws too, there are people who have said many negative things about her too.. Paul Cote She did a press conference in which she clarified that it was Andrew Lloyd Webber who was unprofessional and replaced her in the play at the last moment without informing her.. He said that he did it because he felt that Dunaway's vocal abilities wouldn't do justice to the character, but he had already done the rehearsals with Dunaway for months.. Besides, I have read about others complaining Webber's unprofessional behavior.. I am just saying, it would be wrong to blame just one person, based on what we hear from others..
She might be difficult on other projects but Sunset Blvd had nothing to do with her being unprofessional. Webber promised her the role and signed a contract then changed his mind. Deciding her voice wasn't right. That's why she won her lawsuit against him in court.
The difference with Miriam Hopkins was even although she was difficult ( some of it to do with the fact she suspected Bette Davis of fooling around with her husband ) she was an amazing actress and Bette knew that - they did a few films together and the sparks between Miriam and Bette are electric .Bette tolerated Miriam because she know the end result would be worth it
I was on the set of "The Disappearance of Aimee" in Denver in 1976 as an extra so I can vouch for Miss Davis' assessment of Dunaway. At the time, I was a working actress and in fact had auditioned for a small speaking part in a scene that would have included Dunaway, Miss Davis and several others. I didn't get the part but my agent arranged for me to be an extra so I witnessed everything Miss Davis speaks of about Dunaway's lack of professionalism. I found out several months later that the reason I didn't get the part was because Dunaway didn't want any pretty women to be in her shot. This puzzled me because Dunaway was at the peak of her career and was considered at the time to be a great beauty.

Rick Mileske I remember hearing this about Holden and Dunaway. She repeatedly was late, kept people waiting on set, bla bla bla. She really pissed of Bill and he let her know it.
I wish I could remember where I heard or read about it but there was something about the trouble between William Holden and Faye Dunaway being so bad one time on the set of "The Towering Inferno" that Fred Astaire had to intervene. It was right around this time the William Holden and Faye Dunaway starred together in the movie "Network" for which Ms. Dunaway won the Oscar.
I read that book by Rutanya Alda in which she kept a journal during her work on set of Mommie Dearest. Apparently Faye Dunaway made sure the other actresses had little to no makeup on and were mostly out-of-view for camera angles. Back towards camera. Standing towards the side. Less light, etc... She wanted no one else to shine during filming.
Possibly the greatest actress of all time many women didn’t dare do parts like she did for fear of their career being ruined but she didn’t mind being hated in some of her roles but at the end you can’t help but applaud her bringing all of her characters to life

She looked so very frail, but she still had that "spark of life" that stayed with her in spite of her terminal illness. I greatly admired her professionalism, dedication, and candor. She was hesitant to criticize fellow actors, except when their actions were well known as being unprofessional. I would have loved to have met her.

Davis was obsessed with her career, true, but she was a pro. Courteous to everyone on a set. She knew the value that each person contributed to the product and respected that. I love Bette Davis! I don't have a particular favorite movie of hers, but I can watch ANY movie that she did because she is just such a fascinating personality. I literally cannot take my eyes off of the screen. I like Faye Dunaway. The 2 movies of hers that stand out for me are 3 Days of the Condor and Network. Brilliantly written and directed movies both with great ensemble casts. Even the smaller parts are perfectly cast. I can't take my eyes off of Dunaway in those movies either. Behind the scenes stuff is fascinating to me. But what they both going for them onscreen is even more interesting. Some of these younger actresses could take acting lessons from both of them!

I was there for the Denver Filming in the large church. Betty was totally accurate. Faye Dunaway kept us all waiting, when she got there couldn't remember her lines. It was a total waste of time.

I saw Faye in the Broadway Tour of Master Class in Pittsburgh when I was younger. Spectacular! Utterly spectacular performance. Also a spectacularly late start to the show. I can only imagine what was going on behind the curtain.
The story about Faye probably could be attested by 5000 Denver exrtras who sat in a baking 100 degree tent in about 1976 waiting for Ms. Dunaway to show up...In th book Bette vs Joan, the author relates that Ms. Dunaway was drinking champagne in her limo and going around in circles while Bette and the extras waited for her to show....maybe an hour later?
Linda Kilbride yes, Feud was definitely look through the Ryan Murphy lens at Bette and Joan. There is so much that was presented in untruthful ways or ways that made it more dramatic which compromised truth. I especially didn’t like how they portrayed Joan and her so called sex film. I thought that was really disgraceful and Joan would be mortified if alive. That is urban legend, and it was treated as pretty much fact. Many instances made me question credibility

Faye Dunaway has been (semi) open about suffering substance abuse problems during those years. Some of her erratic behavior can be attributed to that - though arguably she was never altogether stable to begin with.
Suffice to say that Bette Davis had a very strong work ethic throughout her long career, and she was indeed a professional on the set. She always knew her lines, and often everyone else's as well. She had very high and exacting standards for behavior when she was working on a film project, expected her co-workers on set to meet them, and didn't hesitate to let people know when they didn't. She was also known for holding longstanding grudges, and she was also a gossip.

No wait, she may be from Two Egg. She's from somewhere around there. I have heard from some of her cousins that she doesn't have anything to do with her kin folks.

The thing is, they're provoking her here and taking advantage really. You can totally tell that KIng must have seen the previous interview and thought it would be funny to get her to say some nasty things on his show. Whether she's just being honest, or is maybe not exercising the best judgement, it seems like all the media wanted from Davis was to badmouth people for their entertainment. So she gave them what they wanted. I doubt there was real animosity towards other stars. Clearly Dunaway did one thing that annoyed her once, and it's being blown up into a major thing.

Faye Dunaway is literally the only actress Bette Davis has said something negative about on multiple occasions. Obviously, Bette was very passionate about her dislike for Faye. I am sure Bette could have mentioned numerous others she's worked with over the years, but she didn't.

I was on the set of "The Disappearance of Aimee" in Denver in 1976 as an extra so I can vouch for Miss Davis' assessment of Dunaway. At the time, I was a working actress and in fact had auditioned for a small speaking part in a scene that would have included Dunaway, Miss Davis and several others. I didn't get the part but my agent arranged for me to be an extra so I witnessed everything Miss Davis speaks of about Dunaway's lack of professionalism.
I found out several months later that the reason I didn't get the part was because Dunaway didn't want any pretty women to be in her shot. This puzzled me because Dunaway was at the peak of her career and was considered at the time to be a great beauty.

I read that book by Rutanya Alda in which she kept a journal during her work on set of Mommie Dearest. Apparently Faye Dunaway made sure the other actresses had little to no makeup on and were mostly out-of-view for camera angles. Back towards camera. Standing towards the side. Less light, etc... She wanted no one else to shine during filming.

I love Bette Davis! I don't have a particular favorite movie of hers, but I can watch ANY movie that she did because she is just such a fascinating personality. I literally cannot take my eyes off of the screen. I like Faye Dunaway. The 2 movies of hers that stand out for me are 3 Days of the Condor and Network. Brilliantly written and directed movies both with great ensemble casts. Even the smaller parts are perfectly cast. I can't take my eyes off of Dunaway in those movies either. Behind the scenes stuff is fascinating to me. But what they both going for them onscreen is even more interesting. Some of these younger actresses could take acting lessons from both of them!

Linda Kilbride yes, Feud was definitely look through the Ryan Murphy lens at Bette and Joan. There is so much that was presented in untruthful ways or ways that made it more dramatic which compromised truth. I especially didn’t like how they portrayed Joan and her so called sex film. I thought that was really disgraceful and Joan would be mortified if alive. That is urban legend, and it was treated as pretty much fact. Many instances made me question credibility

For her to badmouth Miss Dunaway behavior on set, you must get credit to that. William Holden had the same complains about her while they were shooting The Towering Inferno. Those old actors were trained at the old studio system, where there were no time for misbehavior.

Faye Dunaway has been (semi) open about suffering substance abuse problems during those years. Some of her erratic behavior can be attributed to that - though arguably she was never altogether stable to begin with.
Suffice to say that Bette Davis had a very strong work ethic throughout her long career, and she was indeed a professional on the set. She always knew her lines, and often everyone else's as well. She had very high and exacting standards for behavior when she was working on a film project, expected her co-workers on set to meet them, and didn't hesitate to let people know when they didn't. She was also known for holding longstanding grudges, and she was also a gossip.
Bette is often characterised as being a diva, but she wasn't. She was determined and like you said, demanded a lot of herself and her co stars.
