Thanks for the review! I certainly need something like this but I am hoping for something I can hold in my hand/lap (I draw to the side semi-vertically with my left but my right (which I'd like to use for the controller) is off the desk surface. I am guessing the original (and probably the new version) is too bulky and on the new version, the cord is going to make it awkward in the lap. Perhaps they will come up with an abbreviated wireless version in the future.
I use Sketchbook Pro and it's pretty good for streamlined drawing. Still, its brushes and brush engines and various other drawing tools are limited and the tool is evolving slowly. I have not looked back (at least not very hard) at your video list to see if you've made any about Affinity and the reasons you switched over (besides cost), what tools you use, etc. - I'd love to watch that if you've already made it. One thing that any tool I move to needs is layer support - if I get my druthers, my drawings can be anwhere from a couple (foreground, background, midground) to dozens depending on what I am trying to do.

affinity is different! I'm having to learn a load of new ways but it certainly has layers :)

3D print something to hold it on your lap - there might already be something out there!

I’m a big fan of clunky knobs and buttons when I create, but there is a frustrating learning curve when you’re so used to a keyboard.

I found It felt entirely natural within a day! You need to set it up to do what you want it to do, of course. Defaults can often be frustrating.

Could this be used for video editing?

Ooh. I did always hanker after one of these, and now they've made it a bit more affordable it is very tempting. A retirement pressie to myself later in the year perhaps.😀 Keyboard shortcuts are all very well but even they can be tedious I find, using Affinity Photo etc. I really would like to work faster and more smoothly and this looks like it speeds things up a lot. Thanks for the walk through Shoo. Yep. Very tempted.

I don't think you generally needall the knobs and whistles and at my age, I can't remember them all 😆
