- Two weeks in with carrying the Swiss Tech Wurdig. Yeah. I think this is a favorite now. And yes, even more than the Benchmade Bugout.

Ah. So here we are a yr later. Nope. Benchmade is still in the display case, the Swiss Tech was carried the whole yr and had no issues. Holds an edge, gutted a few animals, been used all over. So for $30, hell of a bang for your buck.
So let’s dispel some rumors and comments on this video. I was not given this knife. I purchased it with my own funds. I did in fact carry it for the entire year with not a single complaint. (Well at least none from me. Some of y’all are crabby little b***hes when someone dislikes your queen knives)
So this year at Xmas I gave several of these as gifts to various people. And they all love them.
So y’all keep commenting, b***h and complain, and most of all; keep pushing the algorithm and get the video seen by more. But remember this. It was just a video with a catchy title. Carry what you want and have fun doing it.
Stick it to Benchmade and their over priced pocket jewelry. I'll never spend more than 50$ on a knife again.

Right you’re paying for the name and the fact that it’s a company that stands behind its tools 100% I own a benchmade and I own the Swiss tech as well. I absolutely love the Swiss Tech, but if I have a choice between that or my griptillian I’m choosing the latter. But that’s not saying that the Swiss tech knife isn’t absolutely amazing. I definitely consider it $100 knife that sells for 30.
If it was in a better steel for edge retention, I might go for it. AUS-8 just doesn't have to long edge retention for hard use.

Im a benchmade owner, and i have that swiss tech. Bang for your bucj the swiss tech is an amazing knife. I got mine for 20 on sale at wal mart. But benchmades outclass is in every way. Personally im not a fan of benchmade, they cost too much and they dont perform well for the price. But if you already have a bugout its not smart to switch to a cheaper lower quality knife
I pull my knife out probably 20 times a day at work and i will never give up my benchmades for a flipper. The smooth one handed operation alone is worth the price of an axis lock. Not to mention the high quality steel of the benchmades.
Had this for a while until I lost it. Stayed kind of sharp, the red finish on the flip tab and the carabiner hole wore off quickly. Overall the knife is a good value, but not worthy to replace benchmades.
I would hope even the cheapest ball bearing knives were as smooth as a bronze washer Benchmade knife. Ball bearing pivots are for people who sit at a desk and flip their knives all day and call it hard use.

Im with you man. I've realized i love simple designs (because i dont have to replace broke springs/parts) and inexpensive steels. Honestly ive owned or carried just about everything and D2 steel when heat treated well is one of my favorites. So I've been rocking really inexpensive simple designs and loving it. No worry about small parts, no worry about losing an expensive knife, just enjoyment of a fun tool/toy

I bought one! It goes everywhere with me! Sharp as a razor! Easy to deploy, nice belt clip. Many of my previous folders have had issued with the belt clips.....this one looks and feels "built to last!"

No very different left hand people have difficulty with some frame locks due to accidentally applying pressure on the lock causing difficulty opening liner locks don’t have that problem as they are internal however frame locks are significantly stronger locks then liner locks since the lock is part of the handle unlike the liner lock that is part of the internal liner usually made from a weaker metal then the frame lock
I remember buying a first production Saibu brand new and it was completely dull and the cross bar was so crunchy and stiff you couldn't even thumb flick it. I sent it back 3 times and it was still a POS, I bought a Kizer mini Domin for $50 on a whim and the build quality was so much better I never went back

I just bought the Gerundet. Never knew they made knives. Just happened to see it at Walmart and asked to see it and instantly was blown away by the quality, the action, everything about it.
How has it been for you. Have you been carrying it much at all, or just a drawer knife to check out once in awhile? In the videos/pictures that I've seen i really like the carbon fiber and aluminum look it has, and it seems real sleek proportioned well. I want to go see one in person at the Walmart across town.
@Mojo32 it's pretty decent. The gray finish wore off pretty fast, it dulls quicker than my other knives that have Aus8, but all in all for a 30 buck knife I give it a b+.

The Para 2 is just a better knife.
940 is one of the sturdier knives for work . Most people dont need 940, but those who need a tuff folder (for work) to mee 940 is the best choice.
Just ordered one. This knife looks amazing. The black one has G10 scales I noticed.
I absolutely dislike putting my finger in line of the blade closing. That is the biggest advantage of a Benchmade. I also can tune those exactly to my liking and there is a ton of aftermarket parts and the warranty has had me covered, even if I screw up myself. (Grounded down the thumb stud.)
Gave my daughter the flipper but I got the fixed blade version. Love it
I got their Gerundet model. I actually like it better. It’s lower profile and aluminum body feels better to me.
Decided to try this after losing a paramilitary 2 and carrying an ultratech I was tired of babying. Gonna beat on this thing and not care about if I lose it or not. This thing feels like a 70 or 80 dollar knife for a fraction of the cost.

I have my gripes with benchmade and the bug out but it’s grown on me and has performed very well since owning one. But 😂 giving up benchmade for an aus 8 steel and Walmart brand knife. 👌 good luck
for an everyday edc knife its fine bro. benchmade is so overpriced, like I said the Daniel Defense of knives when there are just as good way cheaper options out there.

People want fancy expensive stuff and argue grinds and steels but man, if it cuts and can be sharpened and last decades without falling apart, it’s perfect

I bought a Swiss tech blade and I was thoroughly impressed with it the same weekend that I bought that out of fun I had to go skiing with my buddies on a dime and I couldn’t find a good pair gloves so I went to Walmart I picked up the first pair gloves I saw that looked one about five hours into the trip of skiing I was like dang my hands aren’t cold everyone else’s hands are cold who makes these gloves guess who it was Swiss tech the same brand that I bought that knife from just a day before they make some good quality stuff man Swiss tech for the win

Yeah no I’ve used all knives from 420C to Aus 8, 1095 high carbon steel, 1050, and premium steels s30v s45vn s90v and none of the cheaper knives held an edge close to what’s considered a reasonable lasting edge for a knife, most dull within the first few days meanwhile I’ve used my saddle mountain skinner for everything from skinning catfish or cutting meat on occasions, opened plastic packaging with it and it held an edge better than I expected, but comparing cheaper steels to s90v, s45vn, s30v is crazy.
Benchmade as a whole is over-rated. I have had a few and they are good. The bugout is actually my least favorite version. I'm not a fan of no liners. The weight savings never justify the flimsy feeling I get from it.

@@Huckleberry68 I actually pretty much agree. The hogue deka is better, has magnacut, and you can get some nice scales for it for a good price and have a much better knife than the bugout for still less.
If the Bugout was a bad knife it wouldn’t be the knife all other edc knife’s are compared to. Love the Bugout. Especially over a liner lock & Aus8.
No one claims the Bugout is a bad knife
But for 200$
You can just do a lot better
The Bel-air is 150$
The iridium is 65$
Both of those are a lot smoother to operate then the bugout, and the belair is built in the US
The Hogue Deka is 150$
The CJRB Prado is 55$ and is a lot lighter, while being a bigger knife
The steels are different, but at the end of the day, 99% of people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between a 60HRC bugout vs a 60 HRC Deka
The extra 35-50$ for a bugout with no better scales, or for 100$ more for the same scales as everyone else is doing

The Bugout was awesome when it was new, but many many brands are just making a better Bugout
With the Bugout, I get finger fatigue after about 2 dozen deployments and closings
With the Iridium, I can go all day without getting fatigue
Everyone has moved on, Benchmade has not
Colt still made great guns in the 90’s, but they started to lose money cause they refused to innovate, and relied on their name to keep them moving forward
AUS8 is trash, but with something like ARPM 9 or Magnacut
The 30CV in the Bugout just isn’t special

Benchmade has lousy customer service too. I returned and automatic knife I bought in 1997 because the opening mechanism broke. The dealer sent it in for repair and they would not fix it or return it to the dealer. The dealer did refund me my $120.00.Never even gave Benchmade a look from then on and will never buy a Benchmade knife in the future.Their knives are not worth the high price tag. I have the same ST knife you have and I like it a lot.I have owned and carried it for about a year now and used it a lot and still I have yet needed to sharpen it.
Nothing beats benchmade for edge retention. Opening paint tins, cutting through steel and aluminium swarthe from grinding, hacking timber and itll still shave hairs after months of use. I only recently got into bemchmade because im in australia and its a huge price mark up to get one here and i own shit loads of knives even custom knives that cost way more than any pocket knife and i still think my bugout i bought is a better knife to carry than anything else i have tried. If i was to just cut cardboard and tape and shit and not a tradie my standards would make me think a knife like a civici elementum is top tier just ubfortunately the blades fucking suck on all other knives regardless of what steel they recon theyre using
Swiss tech changing their game up the last couple years and im here for it! I just hope their prices dont skyrocket

For $30! It's absolutely worth a go. I didn't know Swiss Tech made knives. After seeing this earlier today I ordered the fixed blade model, 8.75" stahlern w/4.5" blade, and their Praktisch multitool for my son for Christmas. Both together are just under $100.

I have a lot of really extensive long hilarious stories about Swiss tech and let me just tell you it is worth a goddamn price dude they are so well priced for the fucking value that you get oh my god if you could choose anything out of any store other than a Cabela’s or wherever you are relevant located to that man I’m telling you Swiss tech is some of the best shit you can get

Swiss Tech is definitely impressive for the price for sure. Benchmade lost any chance of getting another penny from me when they started chopping up guns for the Portland PD and my aprehension was solidified even more when they jacked all their prices through the roof. At this point the only way I'd even carry a Benchmade is if someone gave it to me for free or at a price lower than what China keeps cloning them for.
Everyone is really using the "it wont stand against hard use" like it a bush craft knife.
It's a pocket knife. It's not meant to be a survival knife. It's still going to cut. Difference is you aren't paying 100+ for flimsy scales.
I love both and carry both occasionally but it comes to budget, swiss takes it.

At 30.00 you can't go wrong. AUS-8 isn't that bad Imo. Sharpens up great.
If I’m not mistaken it’s on par with 440 which is good and plenty. Doesn’t hold an edge as long as others but hey what’s a short time on the ceramic and strop especially since it sharpens easily
Yeah, not that bad… unless compared to S30V.
Benchmade's prices are insane now and their designs now aren't really my taste anymore. I like the Stryker series, the sequel, the foray, the 530 and 531
Ive a couple of Benchmade knives, good but they're overpricing themselves when there are more affordable alternatives.
Looking at the blade condition, I would agree with you here. For people who carry knives to maybe open a box or cut a small string, then this is a great option.
For those of us who's knife looks years old after 2 weeks of using the tool, then no Swiss Tech is not the way.
An I'm out here with a CRKT M16-01. For being a cheap knife it's held up damn well and we in 8 months strong although I do have to grease it almost daily

the benchmade freek is what the bugout should of been from the start. if youre at all interested in a bugout get the Freek or mini freek instead!!! its pretty much the same exact thing but way thicker & more durable & not flimsy at all!! I fucking love my M4 Freek paired with my spyderco para 3
Im absolutely in love the gerber scout. Has axis lock. Great blade shape. Love the micarta handle. The blare steel is a bad choice tho. But its held up for 6 months so far. Been carrying it over my benchmades
Saw a similar model in Walmart the other day in central Indiana. Honestly looked like a good quality knife for under $30. Would it replace my 940? Not a chance but it darn sure looked good for the price and looks like it has good action.

@@AGPfacecast I didn’t know until last night they had more models coming out. If I were still in the construction industry, I’d definitely buy one for that job. Cheaper than my BM to replace if stolen but without sacrificing quality. I must admit, the Swiss Tech I saw did look and feel like it was made with quality. Fit and finish looked top notch too. I've had that swisstech for about 8 months. Only downside that I've run into, the clip screws come loose constantly now.
Put some loctite in and put the screws in and let it sit for awhile then it should get better hopefully
Okay if we’re all being honest… Benchmade kinda sucks… they’re known for two knives… the bugout and the Osborne… Benchmades screws are too long and you have to pay 30+ extra to have that little butterfly logo… stick with SPYDERCO or T.O.P.S
Only problem I found with them is the pocket clip, that's literally all that I see wrong

I quit carrying pocket knives completely. I've been using a Civivi fixed blade with a pocket scabbard. It's pretty hard to find a folder that can stand up to 8 inches of solid steel. And, I use this knife for everything,slicing, chopping, prying, scraping, hammering, you name it. And, it looks brand new and a few swipes on the leather and it's shaving sharp.
I like the buck bantam, only 420 steel but it works for me. Had a benchmade griptiallian but it was stolen from among other knives.

I have the Wurdig and the fixed blade Stahlern and they are above their price point in quality and performance. Awesome knives, very well made and comparable to knives by other companies for three and four times the price. Highly recommend
Question, for the Stahlern do ypu know if the clip can come off of the sheath?
I quit Benchmade when I learned about the button lock. It's like an axis lock without being a pain in the but to clean and you don't have to worry about breaking omega springs.
I love this knife. I've realized after many years of buying more expensive knives that they often aren't really better just because of the price.
The design is great and the fact that it's not a pocket hog has me carrying this one exclusively lately.

I fell in love with that several months ago I had to go back to ironically my bench made bacause the Swiss tech has very exposed ball barrings and using it outside or in the rain or if my hands were dirty it very often got sand or dust in the barrings tk the point it couldn’t fully open
You get the Benchmade for the fidget factor. Put a CROSSBAR on that SWISS and we have a great competitor

Why can't Benchmade heat-treated like Spyderco does🤷. I heard like a year ago Benchmade was supposedly upping their HRC do to popular demand, so if true good on them for accepting feedback 👍.
It’s not that I have anything against Benchmade, just that this knife feels so comfortable. I’ve also beat the crap out of it and had no issues at all.
doubtful as aus 8 is pretty soft and crappy.

Now like I said Benchmade is now supposedly running higher hrc's across all blade steels.
There's an entire spreadsheet of people HRC testing knives from all companies. And Benchmade was running most of their blade steals on the softer side, especially compared to Spyderco.
That's not my claim, that is the claim of the calibrated Rockwell tester.
I love the fact that people are testing hrc's, it's nice to know before spending your hard-earned money on a soft 59 HRC M-390 knife 🤷.
@@AGPfacecast in my line of work aus 8 isn't worth my time. I cut a lot of heavy cardboard, belts, bands, plastics, heavy wall tube and i have to strop it every week to even keep up. I stick with high toughness steels that hold up better in the long run. I use aus-8 stuff to open mail.

Needs a better locking system. Not my favorite blade shape, bet for the money nothing comes close. Would use for work and not be so upset when I misplace my Spyderco.

Rewatch the video. I NEVER said anything bad about Benchmade. I said “I found something I like better.” That a personal preference. And yes, I’m still carrying the Wurdig. 🤘 thanks for watching.
I love my Benchmade, but Im not going to beat it. The Swiss Tech is not as good as Benchmade, but for the price the Swiss Tech can be abused. Nobody cares if they break one. Its perfect for Walmart. If you are looking for lasting quality, you get the Benchmade.
With the current prices of benchmade they've lost me!

Oh dude that knife is amazing for the money… I hardness tested mine at work and got 59hrc which for aus 8 is pretty solid.. it’s held an awesome safe too.. it’s my work blade.. I ground the flipper off tho

I owned a real nice $250 bench made knife. Dropped in the river while I was fishing and never bought another expensive knife again. Most cheap knives will do the job the only difference is it doesn’t hurt so much when you lose it

I’m looking more at the functionality, build and quality. I have not complaint at all with this Swiss Tech. I don’t care if it’s made in China, India, or in my Neighbors kitchen. It works.

Knife people are too brand obsessed. I’ve never had a more satisfying assisted opening knife than the S&W Magic models which are cheap and sold everywhere.
LOVE your content. I've owned some benchmade knives before...All i can say about benchmade is: Overpriced. Really overpriced. I'm wanting to pick up the swiss tech Stahler fixed blade knife from walmart over the buck 119 and save $40 for a knife that will probably perform better at around half the price. Thanks for the vid.

If you’re gonna get a Chinese knife buy a SOG Terminus XR. You can get D2 tool steel blade for $50 or you can get the S35VN blade for $100
There are so many brands out there that are just as good if not better than benchmade yall need to go down to your local knife store and get hands on with some other brands

Always been a Spyderco boi myself. Benchmade is too expensive and I don't care for any of their blade profiles. Also thumb studs suck compared to the hole and the zip tie mod is pretty slick.
