  • In this video I want to discuss one of the questions I've been getting the most and that's about the new Boox Go 10.3. It is some fierce competition for the reMarkable 2. Here are the thoughts I evaluated when considering if I was going to buy one. I hope this video helps you make an informed decision!

    One thing I didn't mention is that it does not have pogo pins like the Tab Ultra line, the Nomad or the rM2. Meaning that it won't be compatible with any future accessories down the line. Also someone mentioned the accessories for the GO are included if you buy straight from Boox, so just fyi.

    • @yorikde
      @yorikde 2 месяца назад +3

      7 months passed since the Nomad release and there is no any accessories even on the horizon. What accessories besides a keyboard cover that can be connected via bluetooth and a lamp that utilizes these pogo pins can be created for these devices?

    • @VladimirKostek
      @VladimirKostek  2 месяца назад +2

      @yorikde That's actually a great question. They've told me they are actively working on accessories, I think with the over demand for the Nomad and ramping up production for the A5 X2 they are quite busy. Great video and thanks for the shout out. I think you're spot on in your observations. I do think the writing feel is probably better than Good Ereader makes it out to be, not a huge fan since they refuse to acknowledge anything from Supernote but pens and then use those videos to attack the company. We'll, that is a rant for another time. Always appreciate your thoughtful content.

    I think your take on a simplified UI is exactly where they should take the Go 10.3. And your except with Kit nails this idea, "A Note-taking app and a reader app." That's all it needs. I'll be joining this conversation soon. Very good video!

      I think allowing the calendar in this simplified view would be good too, similar to the Supernote experience. The problem is that Kit couldn't even get past the UI to move pages around on his livestream yesterday because there are just too many menu options.

    > At "5:11" - the point about the "cons of writing on screen"
    - From my perspective, I own Go10.3 , the point is that the default pen might not be the best choice for multiple reasons (including not having eraser handy)
    - People gonna use the different pen on the Go10.3, and I use Samsung S9 Pen there ,and it works OOTB perfectly.
    - To me, the writing experience on Go10.3 is even better then on NA3 B&W, which I also own.

    The Go 10.3 does reading much better than remarkable. You cannot properly review it without seeing it. It would be much better with BSR. You should compare it with the Tab X next to each other to see the ghosting.

      That's very true, reading on the reMarkable is bad. Like I said all it tries to so is replace your notebook. Fair point, the GO is a much better e-reader with 300PPI screen and great format support. Plus being able to install any android reader app.

    Super helpful video(s)! Thank you. I am wondering what your thoughts are on deciding between the Boox Go 10.3 or Supernote Nomad (or waiting for the new A5 x2) for someone who loves the modularity of Supernote but will be using the tablet primarily for reading/annotating PDFs and ebooks? I’ve seen elsewhere that the Supernote is amazing for note taking but not great as a reader. Appreciate your thoughts on this 🙏

    • @VladimirKostek
      @VladimirKostek  Месяц назад +3

      Hey Maurice, Supernote is ok for reading but isn't good for annotating books... only PDFs. Perhaps I'll try out another e-reader app sideloaded on it and see if it's better than the kindle app for that. The Go 10.3 will be more versatile for E book mark ups. Another good option would be the Kindle Scribe, I've reviewed that and it has a frontlight also.

      Thanks for elaborating on these points. Anything Amazon or Google is a nonstarter for me for many reasons, mostly ethical and privacy related. Boox seems to be questionable on some of these items as well though likely not as bad as Amazon and Google…I also don’t want to be buying a new e-ink tablet every couple years because of planned obsolescence. Please do let me know if you end up trying out another ereader app on the Supernote! Thanks again 🙏

      @@VladimirKostek I have narrowed my choice for my first e ink tablet down to the Go 10.3 and NA3. I would have preferred a Supernote but the Nomad is too small for my usage and the lack of clarity on when the a5X2 has made me move on. I like the sleek design and display of the 10.3 but I don't like the way the screen seems to flash (refresh?) when I see people turning pages on PDFs on RUclips reviews. Given that I am new to this area and have never used one in person I am not sure if I have the language down to describe my concern but I saw on a "deep dive" video comparing the NA3 and NA3c the guy was able to mostly get rid of the flashing that happened by enabling the speed mode on the NA3. Is that possible on the Go 10.3? Thanks again for your videos and advice!

    I take exception to some of your review points. I know it's difficult to review when you don't actually have it and using eReader's video was one of the most negative videos on the 10.3 that I've ever seen. The stylus that comes with it is the same one as the Note Air 3c except it's white there is no difference. It's not lesser quality. The magnets are weaker on the actual device. I think that's because it's so thin. Another thing is the UI is as simple or as complicated as you make it. I think anyone can just pick it up once they log in and use the note's feature or the reading feature without any problems. But if they want to go into the settings they can make adjustments and tweak it as much as they want so it's kind of like the idea that it's better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.

      Fair points Scott. I will ask some of my colleagues about the pen feel specifically, if they have different opinions I'll remove that section. (YT has a nice editing feature) I don't want to mislead people if good ereaders opinions aren't very accurate
