My roommate used to be super on top of tattoo care, but the more she gets the more she does nothing special beyond the first day, haha. It's clear you take care of yours, and making sure to cover up and use sunscreen will keep them looking fresh for a long time.
I've been doing stick n pokes for about a year now and I'm sad to say I just wash mine the first day and keep it moisturized lmaooo they look good tho!
Im a professional tattoo artist and her aftercare advice is great! Definitely a good video. Make sure you follow what your artist says though, depending on the specific products your artist uses or what they find works best to heal their work this could vary. So, although this is good general advice, if it’s different from what your artist says go with your artists recommandation over anything you find online.
my artist had me take the "wrap" off when I got home. Quick wash with PH neutral soap, and applied lotion. Wash 3 times a day and moisturize after. Tattoo looks great.
I have tiny octopus tattoo and all I can say is that this video is so soothing and ironically hilarious Mei literally said "take my advice with. a grain. of salt" as if her whole visible skin isn't covered in beautiful tattoos that look like they were flawlessly healed hahahaha
it's also been recommended to me by my artists to clean the tattoo at least two times a day in the first week! and straight after i put cream on it so i have some kind of routine and don't forget it :D

My skin gets suuuuuper dry so once I do my first wash, I HAVE to put a light layer of moisturizer on my tattoos. I usually warm up the moisturizer in my hands so it glides on smoothly ^^
i get saniderm for all my tattoos too! i work a lot around other people and with manual labor so i leave mine on for around 4/5 days! my body also scabs really bad if i take it off too soon but i can entirely skip scabby gross phase by just leaving the saniderm on its honestly a miracle

Interesting tips, my tattoo guy basically applied pads to stop the bleeding while I got home. Suggested 4 hours and to wash with PH balanced soap, then re-apply cling wrap and a natural moisturized (Coconut butter, with no additives). He said to wash 3 times on day one, and then twice a day afterwards. Re-applying film for 3 days and then to just moisturize after that. I'm always one for second opinions though, you have a lovely personality, great symmetry on your tattoos !

I have heavy photorealistic tattoos and put dermalize on them for a week. No fuss and it’s perfect. Can travel, shower, whatever, keeps the pain down. Then I use a cream. Agree on the removal method:)
We love a helpful queen. I got my first tattoo roughly a month ago and it’s safe to say that the aftercare given to me (mainly dry healing for a week) was not the best for my skin. It’s already starting to fade in sections despite me being extremely careful with it. I’ll have to try your methods when I get my next one to see if it works better.

I never got saniderm and I think most tattoo artists in Germany still prefer cling film to wrap up tattoos. Normally I let that stay on the night and take it off in the morning. Rinse the tattoo with warm water and pat it dry with a paper towel. Then I let it air dry. On the first sign that the skin gets dried up ( maybe after a few hours ) I actually use olive oil. Just a very thin coat every time it wants moisture ( don‘t suffocate the skin and don’t do it constantly , maybe only 1-2 times a day ). I have a few big black work tattoos and I never got any kind of bad skin flakes or itchiness. If you need to you can rinse the tattoo with water in the evenings but don‘t use soap. Dry healing your tattoo is unheard of here. I admit I thought it was the dumbest thing I ever heard to use olive oil but I still thank my former tattoo artist for this tip to this day. Essentially tread the tattooed skin like wood. Don‘t soak it in water and before it could get a crack oil it up. But what ever you do don‘t wrap it up again and let it breath.
Tattoo apprentice here, everything she said Is pretty legit but I’d say after you remove the second skin (and especially if you didn’t use that) you should put something on it like a&d, petroleum jelly or aquaphore, put a really light layer just so the tattoo isn’t dry but not so it looks wet until it begins peeling, than once it does unscented lotion is perfect, but obviously her method has been working well for her, and once you have that many tattoos you know what works for you.
I had such a bad reaction to second skin and it broke my heart. It left a few scars around my Harriet Tubman piece and it took a few weeks for my skin to chill out. No more than two days for sure but if you have super sensitive skin, like I do, I'd definitely ask your artist for some other options. Love your content, you've got such a beautiful energy! Same here, thankfully I caught it quick and removed the second skin something like 16 hours after my artist put it on. I started to blister but thankfully only around the edges and not on the tattoo itself. I highly advice anyone getting tattooed to get some second skin and test it on the patch of skin u’re planning to tattoo to see if u’ll have a reaction that could ruin the work.
I'm allergic to adhesives so I've been scared to wet heal my tattoos, so I have always dry healed. I think they look great, and it's easy to have them touched up by my artist the next time I see them. Everyone says its better to wet heal but I'm scared ):
Great video! Less is more when it comes to healing tattoos! Sadly I can’t use second skin ): allergic to the adhesive, it felt like I was ripping off my flesh and the tattoo with it agh 😢 And yes, unscented Cerave is awesome!
My biggest tips for all the people who have asked me about tattoo aftercare, sana-derm is the best in my opinion as it is medical grade, most tattoo artists that I have worked with say at least 4 days but it depends on the tattoo and your artist, my second tip is do not itch your tattoo it will be itchy do not itch, put on some aquphor or aloe, if you itch you will scar and mess up your ink :) happy tattooing

I recently got my first tattoo and healing has been more stressful than I anticipated. It looks like it finally stopped peeling which I'm excited about. Took about 2 weeks. For day 1 I wore a different bandage to catch all the fluids then was told to use second skin for day 2 and leave it for 5-6 days. I feel weird because I never saw any leaking my tattoo looked normal. N when I took it off there was no ink on the bandage which could've been washed off when I was taking it iff but idk. Now I'm waiting for it to settle so I don't have to be paranoid about not scratching it still. My artist was supposed to do solid black on some parts and it does look patchy. I think she decided to just finish details and let me go since it was my first tattoo and we'd been at it for about 4 hours. Still love it and am not sure if I even want to get it touched up since the tattoo is of an antique painting so for me it fits the theme lol.
If you wanted to do a part two some good things to include would be when you start shaving/waxing, when to start swimming, how much lotion is too much, which body parts have been most difficult to heal, when can you take a bath, when to start wearing tight fitting clothing, switching your sheets the first few days, maybe a q and a about this topic would help people as well
I put on my fresh tattoos baby cream for nappy rush and i put it right after removing second skin and washing it. It’s called bepanthen and It really works for my skin best. I’m continuing to put cream on every 2-3 hours. It’s very important to not let the skin dry because it can form scabs which can fall of with ink and destroy the tattoo.
Agreed, I personally dry heal as much as possible until its starts flaking and getting itchy, then I rub some lotion on it. Otherwise I just let it be.
the second skin stuff caused a huge allergic reaction for me 😞 If you find that it hurts at the edge of the plastic even a bit: TAKE IT OFF!! I have a HUGE blister now that will probably scar.

Agreed, I personally dry heal as much as possible until its starts flaking and getting itchy, then I rub some lotion on it. Otherwise I just let it be.

the second skin stuff caused a huge allergic reaction for me 😞 If you find that it hurts at the edge of the plastic even a bit: TAKE IT OFF!! I have a HUGE blister now that will probably scar.
