Actually, Signal can't do much to help police solve cases. In the instance Alina talked about, Signal could only give minimum info - when the accounts were created and when was the last time they were active. The rest was in the police' hands.

But if we're going to be getting ads anyways, would you not rather see ads that pertain to you instead of random stuff? if anyone can help me understand the freakout please explain. also just a couple of examples here: when was the last time you called an uber or got food delivered, you're literally giving them your address do you use things like Google Opinion Rewards? if the answer is yes your location data is being sent somewhere and your survey answers are literally telling them where you're going do you use paypal? your banking information is going somewhere and paypal has been hacked plenty of times going to the theater? do you know how their system works and where ur information is being sent to like what movie you're watching?
It’s relevant for everyone. Even if the new policies don’t apply to you, if everyone migrates to Signal, you will naturally do it too. So it’s relevant.
