Now I know what everybody is getting for Christmas. I will add a fabric matching bookmark with a pocket for glasses and pen. So glad I found this. I was stressing so hard on what to make everyone ... Thank you do much. I subscribed
LOVE how precise and neat the completed book cover turned out. Your video makes me want to learn how to operate a sewing machine so I make things customised to my needs and rely on purchasing something that does not work. I am impressed with the precision and steadiness you demonstrated. Being a painful perfectionist this was a a satisfying tutorial to watch for entertainment and to learn from. I don’t know anything about sewing machine or sewing related, but you this look extremely easy. I can use these covers for my expensive text books. I was search for book covers like the one you made on Amazon and etsy, and boy they are extremely expensive ranging from $25 to $50. Thank you, Many wishes and best regards to you and your family, From Edmonton AB,
Ok so I made 2 of these today the first one was a minor fail but the second one is so stunning I don't want to give it away 😆. Thank you again for the tutorial
I know this video is super old but do you like that cut and press mat? I have limited space and am considering getting that in lieu of a full on ironing board, or is there a better option? I already have a normal self healing mat. TIA ❤️
Hi! I LOVE IT! I have a new ironing board now and love that one too, but the cut n press mat is great! Especially for quilting, it's a bit denser than regular ironing boards so I think it helps give you flatter seams. Here's my new DIY Ironing Board: ruclips.net/video/kIrjAix_6fM/видео.html
I think you could do a QAYG if you really wanted to, but I would probably sew the rows together first, otherwise you would have to stop your seams 1/4" from each end to add the new square each time. That sounds like too much work to me, so I think traditional piecing would be easier for this patchwork layout. So I probably wouldn't do QAYG unless you want to make it more scrappy like this potholder: ruclips.net/video/Hfn13KReGCU/видео.html
I would suggest adding a narrow fabric loop to hold a pen. Maybe take one more mini square, fold it in half, open it up and fold both sides into the fold, and then fold in half again before stitching along the fold. Insert this loop when sewing around the exterior edge.
Can you please share how long it took you to make this? I am hoping to make them for my kiddos or one for myself if it takes a bit of time. What kind of sewing machine are you using in the video?
+Moe Butler This one took about 2.5 hours to complete, but I think it depends on if you sit down and do it all at one time, or if you're sewing between other activities in your life :) I use a JUKI G-210 and LOVE IT!
Could you put an elastic and button on before you stitched the whole project together? I can't see why it wouldn't work but just thought I'd ask in case there is something I'm not thinking of.
Erica Arndt It has nothing to do with your directions, more with my sewing skills and measuring. It was a little big and too floppy. It might work when the planner is full and chunky though. 😀
Noticed "dislike" was clicked. I never dislike any of your videos. Love this, like others…..!!
Really helpful - I've now made 2 quilted book covers following the tutorial each time Thank you.

Many wishes and best regards to you and your family,
From Edmonton AB,
Love your video's. You are a great instructor!
I like this more than the one with binding. I think I could make this one tidier.
Your tutorials are great, Thankyou
Beautiful! I can't wait to make some! Thank you for taking the time to teach this project.
What a great idea!! Thank you for the tutorial 😊
I’ve made four of your other journal covers (with binding). Will try this next…

Very lovely. Thanks.
I love it... Its awesome and my daughter loves it too!!!😄😄
How would you add a zip around for a bible cover/tote? I'm having a hard time finding a pattern to fit my bible that is 3" deep, 10" tall and 7" wide.
Such a great video. Thank you soo much for all the fetails!!!
Great tutorial. Thank you for teaching!

Thanks ♥️
silly question, but how do you know how many little squares you will need? thank you! 😊
It depends on the size of the book you're covering. I used 40 squares in this tutorial.
Thank you for helping me find this tutorial!
Gorgeous!
With something this small would you think it would be okay just to use straight pins to hold the batting in place?
Possibly, I tend to like wonder clips for binding because it's kind of bulky :)
How do you know what size it will be when you are planning out the pattern for the patchwork bit?
Hey Erica! Another great idea! I wonder...what are the pros & cons of approaching this project as a QAYG ???
I think you could do a QAYG if you really wanted to, but I would probably sew the rows together first, otherwise you would have to stop your seams 1/4" from each end to add the new square each time. Great video. I think I am missing the tutorial for the button...can you show me how to get to it?

What size ruler are you using, want to get one please?
I have this one: amzn.to/3y3nPhg
So cute! Ty!

What size are the fabric squares you are using?
They're 2.5" squares :)
Beautiful project 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 love these patchwork sooooo muchhh and can't wait to make myself one ❤️❤️❤️ thanks a bunch for teaching us 😚😚😚
Great tutorial, TFS!
This is so cute!
What was the measurement after you trimmed it? Thanks!
Great tutorial. I just tried making one to cover my happy planner. Let's just say, it didn't work out and leave it at that. lol I'll try again though!
Sorry! Not sure which part didn't work, but maybe you need to give a little extra width due to the spiral rings.
Erica Arndt It has nothing to do with your directions, more with my sewing skills and measuring. It was a little big and too floppy. It might work when the planner is full and chunky though. 😀
Well done!
When I make these, I add elastic on side to hold a pen or pencil.
Love it 2 cute
great!
Thank you very much for your video.
And could your tell me how do your very nice ... bracelet
Thank you
Odile
Has anyone tried to use this for a 3 ring binder?
Hi what batting do you use.
I use this: amzn.to/2E9y9ri and yes, I do buy a whole bolt but you can get the same kind only in smaller sizes as well :)
Don’t ever cut towards yourself with with your blade. Too dangerous.
