I am absolutely in love with this idea! For years my dream has been to build a container house with a small interior courtyard that would double as a greenhouse for growing food. Having seen this concept, I am so open to everything about this. Freaking AWESOME!
I would like that too. Didn't enjoy living in a cheep moldy apartment for a couple of month which took a while to get the smell off my items. (got rid of some of my items)
This has been needed for a long time. I hope many companies spring up with similar units. Maybe even smaller units especially. I am impressed with the creativity and American ingenuity! Even at 83, if I had the land, I would be tempted to do this.
With the homeless population continuing to increase as the Middle class slides into the Poor class. I can see this type of housing being of great benefit in alleviating the crisis in a cost efficient and timely manner.
@artist one ok we get it. You don't like this type of housing. Who are you anyway? Some sort of "Super Troll" on here. I've read all of your comments on this vlog. They're all negative. So don't invest in one of these homes. I like this idea. The company builds it in the factory. Delivers the home to your site and sets it up in like a day. The buyer of course has to coordinate setting up water and power. This gives the owner options like, Solar energy, Rainwater reclamation or well water, Propane or all electric for power and heat etc... I can purchase a beautiful lot down the street from me (5 acres) for $13,000. And taxes, well we all gotta pay taxes. Even after you're dead and cold in the ground the damned government comes for their taxes. With all of these costs I can still see this home coming in under $100,000. So what's your problem?
Maybe at some point, but you could build a basic 20x20 stick and brick for $15,000 easy (finished out inside). The solution to homelessness is cutting municipal regulations so that it's easy to build 20x20 semi off-grid units in the $7,000-$20,000 price range. Homelessness becomes a problem when there's barely any options in between tent city squaller and $2,000/mo apartments.
@@caasi09ification Their poor living situation absolutely exacerbates their issues. Don't tell me you wouldn't be a mentally unstable drug addict until you've been forced onto the street, unable to get a shower, sleep in a bed, go anywhere without having all of your stuff stolen, etc. It could happen to anyone. We need to lower minimum wage so that more jobs open up for these people to re-enter society. I sympathize greatly with homeless drug addicts but their work isn't worth $15/hr until they prove themselves. But if bare bones housing is more than $350/mo, it won't work. There's no logical reason you shouldn't be able to find a place to stay today for $350/m0 in any metropolis city no matter how populated. That's step one. At that point, they could afford a modest rent for a bare bones 20x20 studio. Some may only need 10x10 to regain sanity. Solar panels, community water and bathrooms, etc. LA has plenty of space where they could allow people to build their own tiny houses in place of the tent cities. Japanese style guest houses are another great idea. The problem is that in the US landlords can't just kick people out if they're a nuisance to other tenants, so these kind of guest houses become a problem. There should be creative and innovative solutions popping up everywhere, but regulations thwart it. The real estate lobbyist are pulling the strings of the municipal politicians in places like LA and San Francisco. They will pay for their mistakes more and more as homelessness becomes worse and worse.
I’m definitely interested in alternatively built housing. I watch a lot of tiny house & other alternative housing vids. Maybe for myself in the future,...but I think it is the wave of now and the future. It almost HAS to be. Our world demands it, needs it. Traditional building is going to become more of a luxury. And people are getting tired of having to sink 30 or more years into a mortgage or just not being able to own and struggling to pay outrageous rents and maybe staying at a job they hate to pay for a roof over their head. People are clamoring for something else. Box-built, modular, tiny houses, tiny houses on wheels, RVs, boat houses, converted buses and shipping containers are all being used to create cheaper, flexible, more energy efficient and affordable living. Great vid. Thanks!
I am glad someone is coming in the game to help drive down these ridiculous prices and the way things are done. I am for it all the way !! Thank you!!! It is about time!!!
Finally, a house that is more than affordable. And you can add sections without being in dept forever. I am saving now.. Hopefully they can ship to NC in a couple of years. Great video.. Thank you
OMG, Love this concept! My hubby and I are in our 70's and this idea would be perfect for us. Of course I'd like it to be somewhat larger. This IS the future for sure. I want to see more. Thank you for this fabulous information Real Estate Whisperer.
Amazing housing solution ! Thanks for not having too much obnoxious, loud, canned music other productions lay into the program taking the focus away from the guest/speakers !
This is a great idea and opportunity for almost anyone looking for more affordable housing. Of course, I think there will always be a need for the traditional built houses for those who can afford it, but this gives more options to those who cannot. With homelessness increasing and disasters increasing, this could be a game changer if we can get local lawmakers on board. I love this idea. 👍
Lol...Disasters are not increasing. It's just the news of it flies around the internet in 6 seconds. Too much MSM for you. If you knew anything about the history of the earth, you would know we are in an unusual stable period. FACTS.
I agree Lin, they should put some laws on it that FORBID and make it UNLAWFUL for investors and others to buy out the affordable and jacking up the price of living, NO ONE SHOULD BE HOMELESS IN THIS COUNTRY
@@c-wrongakas8tanictattooist707 what about drug addicts and serial single mothers who cant bathe regularly let alone maintain a house? Thats another money pit for the Govt. to waste our $ on,,,
This type of housing could work as an ADU (accessory dwelling unit). It's less expensive than creating housing by building an addition to an existing structure.
This is exactly what I'm looking for, and could help in states with huge homeless issues. This could help solve areas that need housing. This is community service at it's best!!
Jeez.. so many possibilities. Stack for “instant” housing/dorm, clinic, school, retirement village, huge off-grid community, etc.. Safe, durable and affordable.. and that Magcrete! 🤯 Can’t these be transported by train, too? What’s not to love? 😍
It’s great for the many single seniors, college students, communities of all types, the homeless would live it. If you are a young couple live in it to save money and add a second module on top or next to it for the kids.
I love this! It’s the smaller custom type home I’m dreaming of without having it be built on wheels like a tiny home. This is a dream come true for me. Affordable home that fits not only my budget but my life.
you do realize you have to pay for the land and then pay for the concrete foundation for the house ? And then pay for connection to water, sewage, electricity, phone etc etc.... ? They conveniently dont mention all of those costs.
@@anastasia10017 those extra costs you mentioned are conveniently mentioned in the video as necessary to have set up prior to shipment. They suggest you connect with a local contractor. I’ve been involved in houses built before. My son and I have been looking for a tiny home to put on his land. So that I have a place to stay when I visit. Eventually I’ll live there permanently when I retire. Who in their right mind wouldn’t consider those factors?
I love this idea. Future home building needs to change because obviously it’s not working for everyone. People are being priced out of areas and “affordable” housing is unattainable still for most. New ideas that save time (the biggest factor in price) may take time to fully penetrate the market but this is a great idea that must be supported. Thanks for this video!
working in a Nursing home. This may help with families being able to keep loved ones close in one of these units. This is a very good idea on many levels. For a young couple starting out, or an older couple downsizing. Hope that they will be able to get the cost down some so that everyone can benefit from this type of home.
I think the future is a combination of all the building types. I think these will be great for bachelors and batchleretes who don't have much money but could save with one of these rather than renting an overprices apartment. the nice thing about this is also that your house can grow as your family or needs do. I like the idea and am interested to see where their company can go in the future
Agree 100% in my area, rents are as high or higher than home purchasing. Craziness. If you have to commute 2 hours or more just to afford your house at least this would be worth it
I found this because I was searching for modular homes (which I was shocked how nice they are). I'd love love love to invest in something like this. Land is the major concern, shipping of course too, but I feel Boxable has that part solved for modular homes. I'd look at a company that can offer a 'package' deal to work with other professionals, they need to get this sorted. This is ideal, buying land is a headache. I really love this concept. I think homes should be affordable. Living in California they are not, the homeless rates are ridiculous. I think the government should look into something like this and make home buying incentives for people who make less than 50,000 or 100,000 a year. They totally have my vote. I think the way houses are built should be re-looked at and the cost-effectiveness of 'buying' a home too. They have my vote and if I buy, I'll use your coupon code Kristina, THANKS!

Lauren Nicholson what’s wrong with that? It’s about 100$ a sqft which isn’t bad. It’s just that 400 sqft is really tiny and poor but other than that it’s a good price per square foot
I'm retired, married, and a home owner. If we could raise the money for a couple acres in the country, I think this would be a great option for a home to put on it. @@KristinaSmallhorn it would be interesting to hear your take on the trend of young people not buying a home and preferring to rent an apartment. I hope they are available in California, this is a miracle. Over here it's so insane to buy a house. There's no way. This gives us an option to afford a house on a smaller budget. Oh I hope I can get one in the near future.
I have finally found my housing solution. I didn't want a "tiny" home per se because I need more than 300 sq. ft. I visited their website and myself and my sister on the waiting list.
I've had an idea like this bouncing around in my head for decades. Not being an architect or arrest I had no way of putting them to paper. I think this is a good solution for most housing needs. As far as a pitched roof they could offer a system that folds up than raised in place bya crane in site. I can tell you from experience the quality of most stick built homes I see is getting worse but prices keep going up.
“I can tell you from experience the quality of most stick built homes I see is getting worse but prices keep going up.” ------------ You got that right!
Grand Wonder there is a brand new stick-built neighborhood near me. The siding on the homes looks similar to the siding on the newer mobile homes in this trailer park. A realtor was showing one of the new stick-built homes in that neighborhood. She leaned against a kitchen island and the whole thing collapsed. She does not recommend those homes anymore.
This is the best invention I’ve ever seen. I am a residential home Framer and I would not mind at all if this company took over the construction industry. This is the best most efficient way to build and live. I literally frame about 10-12 custom houses a year, and can’t even afford to live in one because they’re so expensive and I don’t qualify. I want one!
As a trim carpenter/cabinet builder, I can say that this will probably be a big part of the future of house building. I’ll be looking to get a license to do installs for people just to keep doing the thing I love. Love this concept!
I really love these! I live in low income housing and this is larger than my current apartment and looks better made. The price per month would make it the same as my rent. If I could buy a bit of land and get it ready I would have everything I need. I have been looking at tiny homes for a long time. The main problem I have with them is the loft. I can't crawl around on the floor to get to bed and if the bed is down stairs then you usually have to be an acrobat to put the sheets on. I am not even certain that I could climb a ladder. The cost of may of them is also way to high for me.
One word for me and that is “AMAZING”! This could help so many other than homeless, could help with struggling families, seniors, college students, missionaries, the list goes on!! Our Government could put our tax money in better use for what our families who worked so hard to pass down to our own families and neighbors. Oh spread the word and the love of this beautiful way of life ( and love) if it comes with a study Bible on the kitchen table, sign me up!! I’d be the first one to wanna franchise these out and spread the love all for the “ right reasons”!!! Now I can’t remember where this ad came from... haha was either TikTok or RUclips... which ever one it was, thank you and stay blessed!! I never watch Ads... but this time I did!!!
cheaper, upgradable, expandable, you could buy the land and as your family grows and contracts you can have the house grow with you. your starter home could be your last home and ten times bigger.
They could take my $100 for my interest! I ❤️ this. But, I don’t know what the shipping costs would ultimately be outside of the Nevada region. What I love is that one could start with what they can afford, like a basic unit, but can then build out or stack on top if there’s not enough land. I’d do anything to get out of my 1 bedroom apartment. With the exception of the cost of the land, perhaps many more could pay cash for their home.
Kristina Smallhorn I also like that it is amenable to someone like myself who it may be getting a bit late in the game for but, I don’t think I’ll ever be open to tiny house living. I might also need space for expanding a sole proprietorship.
So, it’s 5 months later. As per Kristina’s question regarding whether or not people are more likely to like this type of home or a traditional home, I consider the pandemic and WFH (work from home) culture, which is growing. But, it “may” be growing in painful spurts. I’ve now been WFH for 5 months and, of course, that gets ideas dancing in my head, where I might be able to buy a cheaper plot if land than where I currently live, drop a modular home and, if things change in the future, perhaps, I can move that home elsewhere. However, things have remained up on the air. My employer has been talking about bringing us back in for the past 2 months but, a continued rise in CoronaVirus cases has made that unpredictable. Still, I fill that my options are trimmed as, I’m not interested in a long commute. Been there. Done that. So, while I rather like the mobility and expandability of it, I’m just stuck in stasis.
🏡Very awesome idea! It is environmentally friendly and points to the future. A real solution for many people! It's comforting and beautiful. Congratulations
6/9/20....I ordered a modular house in 1985 when I built my 1st home. I sent the blueprints to the mfg & had little extras put in b/c it was the house I hoped to live in for many yrs. So oversized/double closets + pocket door + sunken living room + 3 sets of sliding doors along the back side. The house arrived within 3 wks....& the walls were up/the roof was on within 2 days.... a great time savings for me. That house was a "real part of me". It was fun to decorate. It was nice & functional for my life style. It was easy to sell a few yrs later when mylife changed. I would love to get involved with these"box homes" here in central Fl.
Love this please keep moving forward on these ideas if you can during this pandemic stay safe and healthy can’t wait to see these readily available in the near future
Hi Kristina! While I don't think that this method of building will completely replace current construction methods, I do believe that it will garner an increasing number of people looking for alternative options! Like the tiny home movement, I believe that this will become a viable option for many people, especially those in locations where the cost and feasibility of a traditional build is problematic. It could also be a means of adding additional housing to an existing location for extended family, (a la in law/granny flats) and I'm sure that the company will grow, as demand for their products increases. I know that I would easily purchase this product if I were in a position to do so. So Kudos to Boxable! I have saved their website link on my computer, and look forward to seeing their projected model variations, and wish them all the best of luck in their endeavors!
This would be great for Seniors, Veterans, Singles, starter homes as well as FEMA emer. situations like he said. But the traditional brick/mortar home is still preferred for regular homeowners but in a housing crisis such as we are now, this will carve out it's own niche for sure. My grandmother (maternal) and my Aunt (Daddy's baby sister) were both in Real Estate and my Aunt married the Primate builder founder in Ala. so yeah I'm familiar with trends.
I was very impressed with this video... Such an amazing concept at such an affordable price! I live in Canada and know that if this was available here, there would be a huge demand for such homes. I could certainly see these for the second home for people who want a summer home apart from where they live. If it were possible, I would buy one for my son, but he does live on a small Island, so I know that would be problematic for delivery... It is a really great idea for so many different applications. Traditional home building will continue I am sure for a long time to come.
If that island gets their supplies by ship it looks to be the size of a shipping crate on a truck. Same with ferry. I don’t see that as a hurdle if either scenario is the case. The problem would be unloading it unless it’s on a slide type trailer that drives out from under it.
OMG these are THE FUTURE like wow there amazing . You could literally move to a diffrent place with your hole like ppl in trailers do . But it’s an actual house . There going to take over with this product and that was an amazing video fun informative and all I needed to know . I would buy one of these over a house and day of the week . And I matter woo hoo the saying is back . Great job yrew
Tiny Houses are actual houses as well ...it is choice ... plus with this I think you will definitely have to have land to put the house on ..???? I believe this will be a future trend because people can afford them. The problem will be making sure the property is zoned to allow for these modules. Also, how will these homes fair during a hurricane? What will the insurance cost be per month?
Insurance is going to vary from state to state, I plan on asking them about fire, wind and earthquake resistance in my next video that will be coming out July 7th. :)
I am someone with unpredictable chronic medical issues, which has created financial & shelter instability. The rising cost of rentals (we can forget about ever being able to own a home), has only made our homeless population grow to levels that what's supposed to be the greatest country on earth. My career was in multifamily Section 42 affordable property management. Kristina, Do you know if Boxabl provides foundation layouts? So that you can hire someone to set up the land for locations for electrical, sewer lines, water, gas hook ups? Or do they also have a division for this? This is very interesting for someone like me who is about 3-5 years from retirement. Could see buying land somewhere and setting this up... Thank you.
It depends of price, functionality, taste, and getting the regulators onboard. Also, this concept would be particularly attractive to a person that own a lot and does not want to hassle with building contractors. The manufacturer would also have to set up factories in the eastern U.S. where a lot of potential buyers are located and also have to design building in areas of harsh weather conditions (heavy snow in the north and the reality of hurricanes and other tropical disturbances.
I love this video, very informative, and it really helps me think about expenses as I start building my income. Too bad its all the way in Nevada (I;m from Boston), but its more preferable compare to shipping container houses which are cool too.
I came across boxable and honestly this may be the way I go. The fact that I can just add on later too is amazing. The cost alone is worth it, I just need to find land and I can build a very nice custom home for WAY less than I would pay buying builder homes here in Texas.

This has been needed for a long time. I hope many companies spring up with similar units. Maybe even smaller units especially. I am impressed with the creativity and American ingenuity! Even at 83, if I had the land, I would be tempted to do this.
Freaking amazing!!!! The disaster relief concept stands out the most for me.
With the homeless population continuing to increase as the Middle class slides into the Poor class. I can see this type of housing being of great benefit in alleviating the crisis in a cost efficient and timely manner.
😁
@@chrystallee5528 $100,000 !? I was hoping for $20,000, for the first floor of course maybe $25,000.

Great vid. Thanks!
Well said..me too & I agree. I'm even considering a Skoolie

Make a "topper" model, that has a built-in pitched roof, that folds along with everything else, and the ability to customize it with tiles afterwards.

I think the future is a combination of all the building types. I think these will be great for bachelors and batchleretes who don't have much money but could save with one of these rather than renting an overprices apartment. the nice thing about this is also that your house can grow as your family or needs do. I like the idea and am interested to see where their company can go in the future
I agree!!
Agree 100% in my area, rents are as high or higher than home purchasing. Craziness. If you have to commute 2 hours or more just to afford your house at least this would be worth it
😁
I love the way the interviewer does it and those foldable houses are a good idea too
I found this because I was searching for modular homes (which I was shocked how nice they are).

Prefabricated Builds have been used for a long time in Asia. That’s how they managed to build in the temporary hospitals in China so fast.
No one ever said this is new technology
Oh wow that's interesting.
IKR? They built two hospitals in 10 days. I was shocked. I know prefab has been around for decades but still 10 days??
Designed and approved in 24hrs, 350ksqft, 1000 beds, finished in 10 days. Operated successfully and decommissioned after ~76 days.
Those were both modular, not foldable.

Yeah, it's pretty concerning. After 4 years, he hasn't met any of his milestones. There was another video exposing the fact that not just the lack of hitting mile stones promised but many more alarming fact conducted I think by politician you might want to watch as to why people losing greater confidence not just lacking in what they haven't delivered are the many more facts deeply concerning for investors!
Because they just wana get rich off the system they created rather than build and produce homes you get paid more just for your idea rather than to supply and demand it’s like how bit coins first started they created the idea now it’s worth so much cause they created the idea

Where are you going to site it? And what are the additional costs?
I've had an idea like this bouncing around in my head for decades. Not being an architect or arrest I had no way of putting them to paper. I think this is a good solution for most housing needs. As far as a pitched roof they could offer a system that folds up than raised in place bya crane in site. I can tell you from experience the quality of most stick built homes I see is getting worse but prices keep going up.

I think the houses look really cool. I like the style, really modern to me. Love it!
I love it. I'm in Louisiana and i want one.
EXACTLY 👍 us older people can't contort to tiny house living with lofts 👏

If it's a lot cheaper, people will go for it.
cheaper, upgradable, expandable, you could buy the land and as your family grows and contracts you can have the house grow with you. your starter home could be your last home and ten times bigger.
Less Labor Time, equals less cost. Better materials/methods, equals better quality & higher codes for places like Florida.
These are about half the cost of other modulars in CA, as we expand through the country we will try to bring the price down even more 😉
Do you have a Facebook page?
@@BOXABL I want one in Texas
Finally someone with some brains.
Right now we plan to do free shipping to CA NV UT AZ and in the future free shipping to the whole USA 👍🏻

Wow! Boxable is truly clever!!!Love it!
Sounds perfect for those who want to down size or even start out with owning a home!
Yall should advertise this on the news or different sites once again because the people in texas and around the world need to hear or see this
I'm legit in love with this. Especially now that I'm 21 and want my own space, I'm looking around and planning. I think this is it....
😁
If that island gets their supplies by ship it looks to be the size of a shipping crate on a truck. Same with ferry. I don’t see that as a hurdle if either scenario is the case. The problem would be unloading it unless it’s on a slide type trailer that drives out from under it.
I think this is freaking amazing 🤩

Insurance is going to vary from state to state, I plan on asking them about fire, wind and earthquake resistance in my next video that will be coming out July 7th. :)
I'm liking this idea! Would like to visit manufacturing plant or home show.
I am 59 yrs young and I LOVE THIS BOXABL. I would purchase one if I could obtain financing!!!
I cannot tell you the number of generations I've seen become adults, with an ever growing bleak stable housing future they won't overcome. Moderate to low income households are not living, they are battling just to survive.
I haven't researched updates to this company yet, I had to comment first. I hope to find they are thriving & still working to change outdated, restricted HUD & building ordinances to create safe "homes" anyone can afford & feel proud to own.
Thank you for sharing !
Kristina,
Do you know if Boxabl provides foundation layouts?
Wow! What a great idea. Really amazing.
