this is in my 25km zone so I'll definitely be checking it out! there are so many creeks/rivers in Melbourne that have been straightened or re-routed I would never have thought this was a pool if i saw it before. very cool!
That a cool historical path where you are. Shame about the pools. One of my favourite man made pools built into a creek with a water fall that is really safe to use with crystal clear is in Malanda Falls in North Queensland on the Atherton Tablelands.
How I love the rivers and creek's (actually anything I can jump into 😊). Such a shame it is shut down. I just love nature... Thanks for the history of it and sharing that beautiful spot
The buildings in the pioneer park were only removed in the last year due to crime / homeless using them. The concrete platform at the larger pool was still kept clean till about 15 years ago, now left to overgrow and get muddy when the river floods. There are a couple raised steps halfway along the platform which look like a diving platform. I also believe the clubrooms in the background of the oval you walk past at the start was originally a farmhouse but I could be wrong.
Very cool. Really ties in with the history of Melbourne itself, not just the Greensborough area. Back in the 30s most people didn't have any bathing facilities at their home, so public bathing was quite common. Around my area there was (and still is) the famous sea baths in Brighton and St Kilda. Of course your area isn't so close to the beach, but does have a significant river. So river bathing makes a lot of sense.
@@MuiTube yeah mate for sure. I also recommend you visit the Mernda Flume since it’s not too far from you and heaps of history there. Tracks went over it before the railway even existed!
Nice bit of remaining history, pity the river is so brown though.

The "step" at 6.04 is the base of the diving board.
That was great, love seeing then & nows. Don't know if I would have crossed that bridge. Scared of bridges. On them or under them.
Glad you enjoyed! When I crossed back over the bridge a lady was jogging over and it was wobbling all over the joint haha
Yes that was an amazing place back in it's hey day too bad hey it's not still in operation today.
Sadly the river is full of trash in areas!
@@MuiTube That is so sad. Maybe 1 day they will clean it up and reopen it. 😊👍
OH WOW!! That's a bit of old history where you live.
There is!
Looks awesome! Only live 5 minutes away. Going to go for an explore. I know that suspension bridge so will try to navigate from there
Just follow the river! Can’t miss it
getting a bit of history there son , well done... Don't think I would swim in that , but than again I have swam in the Yarra and Merri creek
With goo dog?
Wow that's amazing love to get up there and have a look when knockdown is over 🐱
You have to check it out!
What happened to the pool down the big hill from the cinemas in the main drag? So many memories there!
It’s now a massive indoor swimming pool and gym
@@MuiTube wow! It was such a great pool! Getting a shady spot on the grass near the big pool was always the goal haha

I’ll be up that way Sunday
Interesting
Glad you enjoyed
Not a fan of heights either mate lol, made me nervous watching you walk across 😂😂
I’ve hated that bridge since I was a teenager haha
Ooshies have been around for years about 3 and they only are given away from Woolworths because of their popularity. There are many different kinds
I live in greensbourough lol
Hey mate, I'm a life long resident of the area, have you seen the proposed new apartment blocks on Flintoff St?
Yeah it’s pretty crazy down there atm! I try and avoid it haha
What does swimming pool mean over there? I'm like, where is the pool, that's a river/lake
Well we just swim in the rivers at summer time. But if not you just head to a swimming pool and do some laps. Just like an Olympic pool
Grouse vid wvtte
The Pioneer Park was pulled down after the police caught the rapist/murderer of the Arabic Uni student in Bundoora, in there partying afterwards.
Thumbs down for the mask
