The cold butt syndrome is very common for anyone when they explore hammock camping, I've done hammock camping for over a decade but my first few adventures were not fun as I had the same issues that you did on your night out.
It's important to know that a sleeping bag will not keep your back warm in a hammock, all the insulation gets crushed between you and the hammock material, this is true for any hammock.
You need either an under quilt, which you mentioned in the video, but if you're on a budget and can't justify the expense, even a foam mat or insulated sleeping mat under you in the hammock will work, it's just a bit less comfy than the under quilt setup.

I used to dabble in that as well when I was younger and loved exploring old abandoned buildings. We had a hidden old abandoned gun club here in the south east sububrbs you would of loved but it got torn down this year.

l really enjoy stealth camping videos thanks. And if u put a sleeping mat or roll mat in the hammock it helps with not getting a cold back without having to spend the money for an underquilt

Look up" Reflectix" at your local Builder supply . Its bubble pack with foil on both sides. it can be a real good under pad. :)

Always great to get out there mate! You learn from every adventure too, that never stops. I'm about to head down the hammock camping road myself and have been doing a lot of research. The underquilt is definitely the best way to go to insulate yourself from the air underneath the hammock. I'm keen to try it out myself! Also good to check out videos on the really handy tips and tricks for hammocks, there's some great ones out there with the 30-degree angle with your thumb and index finger, sleeping asymmetrically, and water drip lines for rain. The best time out bush is simply the time you spend there. Love to see it mate.

That's a nice spot. Might need an extra bag for Charley to sleep in next time. I'd feel safer with a dog because they sense if someone is around long before you or the person/s know who's around.
