Just one thing to note, there is a Deadpool 2, but the first scene contains a big spoiler for one of the X-men films called Logan (it's amazing, if you decide you want more Wolverine). My opinion on which X-men films you need to see before you get to Logan - X-Men, X2, X3, X-Men First Class (takes place in the 1960's), X-Men: Days of Future Past (takes place in the 1970's) - in that order, the rest are optional. Days of Future Past can be optional, but I personally think it's very good. X3 can also be optional - it's not well regarded by comic fans, but you may be good with it not knowing the context.

Trust me. You'll NEVER take a pompous comic book movie seriously after Deadpool. The only one that comes close is a movie called CHRONICLE, about 3 high school boys who get superpowers after contact with a meteor. And how do they use their powers? Exactly like you'd expect 3 average teenagers to use super powers.

28:24, yeah, it's healing his cancer as fast as it can form, but let's remember, in almost every instance, cancer is MADE of your own cells, so it's just spreading like wildfire now, because his immune system may BE constantly attacking it, but the sped up healing and mitosis of his cells doesn't care whether or not it's a healthy cell or a cancerous cell that it's creating, so now Wade is basically a walking tumor.

    Comic Book Starters Recommending incoming.....
Any films together are in the same continuity for example the three Superman movies below. While Man of Steel is in it's own continuity.
    *SUPERMAN MOVIES*
    Superman (1978)
    Superman II (1980)
    Superman Returns (2006)
    Man of Steel (2013)
    *BATMAN MOVIES*
    Batman (1989)
    Batman Returns (1992)
    Batman Begins (2005)
    The Dark Knight (2008)
    The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
    The Batman (2021)
    The Penguin (TV Series)
    The Batman 2 (Unknown)
    *SPIDER-MAN MOVIES*
    Spider-Man (2002)
    Spider-Man 2 (2004)
    Spider-Man 3 (2007)
    The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
    The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
    Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)
    Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023)
    Some other films:
    The Incredibles (2004)
    The Incredibles 2 (2020)
    Men in Black (1997)
    Men in Black II (2002)
    Men in Black 3 (2012)
    Darkman (1990)
    The Crow (1994)
    Blade (1998)
    Blade 2 (2002)
    Hellboy (2004)
    V for Vendetta (2005)
I'll leave it at these so to not overwhelm you but I placed all the connected films together as there's many different reboots for characters like Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man. You could always look up a list of the greatest comic book films but these are all great introductions to some of the more well known hero's. Left out the MCU as there's a whole list of films that are all in release order but that universe starts with Iron Man from (2008) and then just follow off in release order and you'll be fine. For the DCEU it's the same, Man of Steel (2013) is the first film in this universe so if you enjoy that feel free to watch the others.
You can really start anywhere from watching Batman 89 or even watch the Nolan Batman movies first with Batman Begins and then go back and watch the older film it's up to you. Same goes with Superman etc. I personally would start with the older films first and then the newer movies.

50:49 with his healing powers, plastic surgery wouldn't work on him. Even if the incisions didn't heal immediately, his power would only recognize his current appearance as the baseline template, and would "heal" him back to that template.

You mentioned wanting Vanessa to be a superhero. In the comics she is one, called Copycat. Her power is genetic shapeshifting, meaning she can perfectly copy someone's form down to their DNA. This means if she copies someone with genetics based powers she gets them, too.

Deadpool is great and one of the earliest mature comic book movies at least since the 2000s so it really opened the door for shows like The Boys and more mature Comic Book stories brought to live action or animation. It's set within Fox's X-Men universe with Days of Future Past being the last film before this which soft rebooted the series into a new timeline this being where Deadpool is set. Will not say how for spoiler reasons but it created a new continuity in a series that's had a few continuity problems which even Deadpool brought up. But 100% you're safe going into this film as it's very much a stand alone release just two years after Fox kind of rebooted the universe to make changes.
You no doubt have heard about the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) a massive universe filled with Marvel movies and TV shows starting with Iron Man in 2008. While Deadpool is not apart of this connected universe as Fox own the rights to the X-Men releasing the first X-Men film in 2000 and of course releasing follow ups and spin offs such as Wolverine and of course Deadpool it's still based on Marvel comics. Deadpool 3 is confirmed to be an MCU film as Marvel now own the movie rights again so it's just a case of how they'll connect them together. In the comics X-Men and Deadpool co exist alongside the greater Marvel universe so Avengers, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Blade, Guardians of the Galaxy etc. Deadpool and Spider-Man. While for the Fox universe they can mention stuff like Avengers, Spider-Man etc.
History on why so many studios own Marvel IPS.
In the 1990s Marvel sold their movie rights off so they could make a little bit of money as between 1993 and 1996, revenues from comics and trading cards began to collapse so Marvel was forced to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Sony got Spider-Man which they still have the movie rights to while Fox got X-Men and Fantastic Four while other studios got the rights to Blade, Hulk, Punisher, Ghost Rider etc. So these studios started pumping out their own movies all disconnected from each other even though some people tried to connect them. Then Marvel were like "Hey so why don't we create movies in house with our own studio" so then they created a plan for a phase 1 to build up to an Avengers film.
But as they did not have the rights to X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man etc. Marvel could really only focus on the characters they had (Most of Marvel) and maybe hopefully later introduce X-Men and Spider-Man in the crossover if Sony and Fox allowed them. Years later Sony and Marvel came to a deal to allow an MCU Spider-Man which is how the MCU has Spider-Man movies but this never happened with Fox and in 2019 Disney bought Fox anyways so now the MCU is free to use X-Men and Deadpool along with the Fantastic Four. In a perfect world the Fox X-Men movies would've easily carried over into the MCU just have the X-Men exist before The Avengers.

How Deadpool got his powers is WAY more disturbing in the comics; this was light. In both cases, Ajax was involved.
Because he breaks the fourth wall, he'll make a LOT of references to Marvel and DC, as well as politics and shows. Nothing is safe. There are very few characters in comics who know that they're in a comic book (in this case, in a comic book movie)

"You will come talk with Professor Xavier."
"McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines can get so confusing."
Fun Fact: While filming, Ryan Reynolds visited sick kids, via Make-A-Wish foundation, as Deadpool.
Art Imitates Life Fact: Ryan Reynolds revealed that the taxi driver character Dopinder (Karan Soni) was named after "a really cool guy" he knew in elementary school who died when hit by lightning. The character was meant to be a tribute to him.
Not A CGI Costume Fact: The Deadpool costume originally had a muscle layer underneath but it had to be removed. Ryan Reynolds was so muscular, the costume was not only too tight for him, but it made him look overlarge. Ryan Reynolds was allowed to keep his Deadpool costume after filming had completed. Technically he didn't ask to, nor did he give anyone the chance to take it from him. When 20th Century Fox found out about this, the studio just let him keep it.
Jump Starter Fact: A three-minute test reel was shot in January 2012 in an attempt to convince the heads of the studio to move forward with the movie. On August 1, 2014, the footage was released (aka: LEAKED) to the public and, based on the overwhelmingly positive response from fans, the film finally began production. The footage was so popular that part of it was recreated for the actual film. This included the opening scene with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) on the highway which leads to the fight scene in the car.

Deadpool is pretty much standalone. Ryan Reynolds took *years* trying to get this film made. It was always his baby. And a very nice reaction, thank you.
As far as the other Marvel movies are concerned, unlike Deadpool, they are all connected - although you could watch Werewolf By Night - which means they really should be watched in release order. (Some suggest "in-story chronological" but there are issues, like not watching the post-credits scenes in case of spoilers.)
The X-Men movies are separate from the Marvel mainstream (for legal/ownership reasons) and problematic because the early X-Men movies did not care about continuity. The later ones, as Marvel showed what could be done with comic book movies, are much better (a couple are staggeringly good) and they slowly merged with Marvel (because Disney bought Marvel and then Fox).
The Spiderman movies are also kind of separate, to a point, and weirdly it's worthwhile watching all of them because of what happens in later movies. "Into the Spiderverse" can be watched on its own and it's amazing. It does reference other Spidey movies a little bit, but it's not critical.
Star Wars despite there being prequels, are still best watched in release order. It just works better. The "machete order" is an option (4-5-2-3-6), yes it doesn't include episode 1, for many reasons.

Good to see you have a good laugh! Luckily Deadpool works as a stand-alone and good fun even though there is tons of references to x-men movies. The Marvel movies are very well done but should be seen in release order to get context and avoid spoilers. Give Ironman a shot and if you enjoy it you could carry on. Its a good stand alone as well and being the ‘first’ doesn’t need any background. The Incredible Hulk came out same year a few months earlier but no real harm to watch either first. But if you’re not into them don’t bother!
The Bourne franchise is good entertaining action thriller.

Deadpool is a standalone franchise so you're okay. He's made countless cameos and has worked with the Avengers, X-Men, etc. so he's a recurring character in the Marvel comics.

  • @RustyDust101
    @RustyDust101 Год назад

That Deadpool would have gotten further a lot quicker if he hadn't asked his targets 'Where's Francis?' but 'Where's Ajax?' is just the typical logical error that would happen to the comic book character as well. HE is the only one who knew Ajax's real name was Francis; everybody else knew him as Ajax.
Deadpool in the comics is also utterly insane. Or completely sane. Depending on how you look at it.
Oh, and he CAN'T die. Period. He will ALWAYS come back from the dead. No matter how dismembered he is.
He knows, without a doubt, that he is the central character of a comic book super 'hero' series.
Obviously the rest of the comic book characters don't believe him and consider him totally bonkers when he does his patented fourth wall breaks.
But he knows with absolute certainty that he is talking to his readers/audience who appreciate his witty humor. He knows that he has to keep them/you on his good side because he also knows that he can't die as long as the company makes enough money off his franchise. Character death only occurs if the series is laid off.
On the other hand, he IS totally insane with what he went through. That however makes him also immune to other comic super characters who can look into the future to observe his future actions. Or that try to read his mind. They simply CAN'T see his actions because Deadpool is also so crazy that he himself doesn't know what he is going to do in the next second, so his actions simply can't be seen until they have happened. It is such a twisted meta-power that it has led to massive speculation of 'Is it really a power?' or 'Is it only because he knows that the authors made him do some fucked up shit?'
It allows for some wonderfully bonkers stuff to happen.
Ryan Reynolds definitely is the perfect guy to portray Deadpool. Just like Robert Downey Jr is THE Tony Stark representation. Both have this zany portrayal of their respective character that meshes perfectly with how their characters were shown to be originally but add their own little twists that don't detract but instead add to the characters.

Wade didn't really mutate. His cancer cells did. That's why he became deformed, his cancer basically took over. It's also part of the reason he can't die. Cancer cells reproduce incredibly fast and his are enhanced to the point where they reproduce so fast that they heal Wades wounds incredibly fast. Another thing this movie glosses over is that the serum they injected him with contained DNA from none other than Wolverine. And Wolverine was another victim of this same experiment. The Weapon X project.

There's no way for Deadpool to get plastic surgery. As a matter of fact his healing factor is the exact same as Wolverine. If they tried his skin and tissue would grow back immediately way before they could ever finish it. In the comic universe Wade Wilson got his healing factor from Wolverine. And was injected with his blood to get it. Except it mixed with his cancer also. So he's not just growing things back it's mixed with the cancer so that he heals with it like cancer growing and spreading. Which in the comics actually makes him able to heal quicker and better than even Wolverine. Even from just a small chunk of himself left. His marksman abilities and weapons handling skills were his natural ability and mutation. Just not his healing factor that was taken from the weapon X program (Wolverine). Which is why he keeps mentioning Wolverine and Hugh Jackman. In this movie his healing factor is supposedly his own and brought out with the shot they gave him before they started torturing him. But they never actually tell you that so it could also be Wolverine's blood mixed with the serum catalyst that brings out your own mutation. They never specifically say other than it will bring out Wade's latent mutation. And since his healing factor is mixed with his cancer and it's partially the cancer that's growing any damaged skin and tissue back. It would grow back exactly the same. With the cancer still imbedded in the skin and tissue. If he had no cancer it's possible just cutting off his skin all over his body would grow back the normal skin he originally had because his healing factor would be growing it back based on his DNA instructions. And he'd be normal again. But the cancer is not only tied to his healing factor it's also tied to his DNA by default. The DNA might be telling his healing ability to grow the instructions of what he actually looks like. But the cancer mixed into it would always poison the end result. So unfortunately plastic surgery would never work. The only solution would be to separate the cancer from his healing factor. Which unfortunately can't be done because of the way it started. The cancer and mutation was done at the same time. So they're mixed together and can't be separated. You'd need a genius level scientist of Siri from Black Panther or Bruce Banner or Hank McCoy from X-Men to even try. But looking on the upside....at least he knows Vanessa actual loves him for himself 🤷🏼‍♂️👍.

Deadpool is basically universe of its own at this point (Dinsey bought Fox and is trying to figure out how to incorporate everything in MCU). Most jokes are aimed X-men franchise and Wolverine. The Wolverine is Hugh Jackman (Reynolds real life friends), whose face Wade stapled on his own. Voted sexiest man alive once upon a time (just like Ryan Reynolds) Basically you can just go Deadpool 2 and enjoy the ride. Sure you miss some jokes but with films like this missing jokes and references are fun for re-watching and trying to catch everything... or just enjoy the wild ride.
I mean to get everything you should need to watch entire X-men franchise (from X-men to Logan), Green Lantern (2011) and to get most out of Stan lee Cameo´s pretty much watch entire MCU from Iron Man to to the End game. Considering the task is over 40 films. I think just going for DP2 is best way.

You've taken a HUGE step into a WAY LARGER universe...Deadpool was supposed to be a stand-alone movie as an R-rated movie because Fox had NO IDEA how it would do until it raked in $780+M in the box office and spawned Deadpool 2. You didn't miss anything by starting here, but if you ARE going to watch more superhero movies there is an order, and it's usually chronological. You'd have to start with the first move and watch your way through it.
In the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" or MCU there were 2 studios that bought Marvel properties before Marvel comics clued in and started their own movie studio.
FOX bought the X-Men properties - they were later bought by Disney so if you have a Disney+ subscription you can see them ALL
SONY bought the Spider Man properties, including The Amazing Spider Man and they're on Disney + too.
MARVEL started with Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and then THEY got bought by Disney so ALL the superhero movies you could want are now on Disney+. For the most part.

Star Wars? I'm thinking that if you haven't seen SW by now, there must be a reason. If you REALLY want to watch that franchise, please consider the option of watching it on your own & NOT doing reactions to them. There is no shortage of Star Wars reaction videos in the world, but there is only one Susan, & it would be most engaging to have you react to what you are really interested in. A comic book background is not at all necessary to enjoy these films, buuuuut, some reference knowledge of the Marvel universe is super helpful for understanding a lot of jokes, especially when it comes to Deadpool. A lot of the Marvel heroes are built upon the paragon archetype of doing the right thing above all and self-sacrifice for the sake of others. Deadpool is a complete 180 of that, still hitting the superhero motif but only just barely as his own self-interests and flaws often offset any sort of heroic notions thus making him a very morally grey sort of character. What's important though is, he is super whitty, never shuts up, and breaks the fourth wall constantly. Everything else is just extra.

  • @jimdetry9420
    @jimdetry9420 Год назад

If you want to try comic book movies you should try the first Iron Man, the beginning of the MCU (Marvel Comics Universe--Deadpool isn't a part of it...yet). If you like it, continue with the rest in release order. (The 2nd movie which is the Hulk is sub-par so don't let it stop you from continuing.) Always watch for scenes in the middle and/or end of the credits that hint of upcoming things (or just make a good joke). Also keep an eye out for cameos by Stan Lee.
If you don't enjoy Iron Man you can simply give up on the comic book movies and watch other things. You are not obligated. This is, after all, your channel.

Several X-men movies come before this, but really you basically understand everything about the X-men from this movie. They all have different powers and live in a mansion and have a sweet plane to fly around in. They are definitely worth checking out.
Deadpool 2 does make a reference to one of the previous X-films (Logan) which would be super spoilery if you haven't seen it. Only thing is, Logan is something like the 10th (and one of the best) film in the series and Logan does not make for good viewing if you haven't seen the others.
Some X-films are better than others, but they are all worth watching.

Forget other superhero movies. Deadpool ruined comic book, movies forever. It would be hard to take one seriously after the deconstruction (masterful and necessary) that Ryan Reynolds did to the genre. Maybe the Tobey Maguire Spiderman trilogy could survive but that's about it.
An interesting . movie called CHRONICLE concerns three high school kids who get super powers after contact with a meteor but it isn't a superhero . movie; it's very simply about three ordinary teen boys and how they would react to suddenly being given superpowers. I mean, how would they REALLY act. Warts and all. And bear in mind that teenage boys are flawed . morally at best. In Marvel and DC, people with super powers become righteous or evil. They never show characters with a mix, teenagers who use their powers to have fun and impress girls and get revenge on high school bullies.

They struggled a bit with where to go after bringing all of the series to a huge climax in the last Avengers movies, but the latest Guardians of the Galaxy proved that they still have got it. Even though it was very CGI heavy. It's a tool, like everything else. People compare good practical effects with bad CGI to "prove" that one is inherently better than the other, but there's plenty of good and bad of both. Ultimately, what really matters is of course whether they serve the story.
