For those who aren't as experienced with Plasti Dip, I highly recommend masking off the car more to prevent overspray. Wind or no wind, you will most likely end up with some overspray. If you do, you can normally wipe it all way with a microfiber towel.
Looks good. I wonder how it would have looked if you'd have used the red to extend the lines of the read lights to a point along the side...maybe cool too. Also, I knew you were going to get over-spray from not masking off far enough...I did this a few times with airbrushing projects
So I'm guessing you dipped the black on the panel before the red? I'm just serious because I have a project in mind where it'd involving taping up previous plasti dip to get a certain pattern. Was wondering if the tape would damage the previous plasti dip at all. I don't see why painter's tape would but I'd like to be certain.
as long as the dip that your taping on is dry it shouldn't damage it. but if you want sharp lines the tape has to be pulled of while the last coat of the new dip is still wet. go to 6:15 of the video
Looks Badass, man. very good job. could you tell me how long you waited between coats? and one more thing, tip for the future. you should make sure the tape closest to the paint is the one to go off first. just to assure the paint wont dry on you.
looks good! word of advice when putting the first layer go slower not so fast you want to lay down a solid tact layer then the next coat make it thicker then the third and fourth make them slow and even to make solid coats. Good Job though!
I did two simple stripes on my hood, but it feels rough not smooth at all. The color was black PD. I placed the can in warm water for 15 minutes and shook the can for at least a minute or two. I thought it would be much more smoother!!
plasti dip is smooth as fuck .. you did it wrong! Maybe you sprayed from a long distance? also the first 3 coats have to be very thin in order to be glossy
Sick car man, really like what you did , but agree about widening up the lines so it streamlines with the tail light. Ah well, you can always do that next time you dip your car in 2 years.
I'm surprised how nice it worked out because your spray technique was pretty scary if you were using car paints because if that was it wouldn't look real good u would of had alot of bleeding in the paint not to mention your coats would be very off. But it looks good so props to you.
Anyone knows where to buy aerosol cans of plastidip in europe? Can't seem to get them under 20USD each and everyone says they are super cheap... Am I too optimistic or does this really cost 20 USD per can? And how much can a can do? 4 coats on a car door, 2 doors?
+Gerry B thanks for the reply. We have Amazon but it's either expensive or they don't ship to Portugal. Seems I'll have to get them from UK friends. But the best price still close to 14USD per spray can...
Why would somebody use Plasti dip instead of paint? I'm planning on painting my springs with paint and then heard of Plasti dip..why not use paint? why do people use Plasti dip? What are the advantages? does it peel off?? I just really want to understand what the deal is with it, and why it's used in place of paint, thanks!
I think that the red should match the red that is in your lights. Also, the bottom line should match the top line, in my opinion.. that way they will come together.
Corey Longenecker i did re-badge. I purchased the K5 and other's from the link below www.k5optimastore.com/ in Korea the optima is known as the K5 The graphic in the middle is my family crest..I had a local graphic guy print it for me.
+Grant K you've obviously never done graphics on a car have you. Because if you don't follow the lines or the flow of the car it looks like garbage. If it doesn't flow it looks tacky, and plastidip gets too much hate for looking tacky because of the inexperienced morons that use it like a toddler with finger paint

Thank god this stuff is removable.
💯 haha yep.
artistic license revoked!
ugly as fcuk!!!
Nice work, ride looks good! I'm preparing to take on an all-over plastidip plus striping on my Mini so thanks for wet peel tip.
Actually looks good! I watch all of Dip Your Car videos too. That guy really knows what he's talking about!
did you change the badging on that car? i have never seen it as a K5 before.
Looks great!👌
A white primer coat would have made it pop more I think, Looks good either way.
wow! looks really nice. congrats.
Looks great man!
That turned out to look too damn good :)
Very creative and nice job. Your car is officially personalized.
Looks cool!
The Veloster Turbo badge is a nice touch
looks really nice. I might add somethinglike this, i've only dipped my a4 rings
looks GREAT man
+brent hirak thank you
cool tried on my car in forje week but dip dried too fast. any suggestions?
Looks awesome
massive red overspray on the grey and black for sure.
I agree. I think most people would have seen that his lack of masking was going to be a problem before he even started. Very poor preparation.
+BMH1965 easily peeled off after 30 mins
Looks Great! on the Grey! - Leave it Alone - Less is More! Looks Great!

nice work!!
+Gerry B What other kind of tape is there besides the masking tape you were peeling off?
I mostly use painter's tape. But some automotive stores have some specialty masking products. Check out dip your car.com
Gerry B dipyourcar.com
nice design! double like haha
yeah what do you call the badging that you did? could you make a video that would be awesome
Did you also lay down the black plastip with a regular can like you did the red? Looks pretty smooth.
Ariel Hernandez Yes. I used 3 full cans and 1/2 of a 4th.Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
Cool, looks good!
So I'm guessing you dipped the black on the panel before the red?

I really like this man
cool looking. what else have you done ?
Looks good. Where did you get the attachment for the plasti dip can?
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BHH1QT4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
That Looks very good
Looks Badass, man. very good job.
could you tell me how long you waited between coats?
and one more thing, tip for the future. you should make sure the tape closest to the paint is the one to go off first. just to assure the paint wont dry on you.
+tomer rozenman i waited around 20 minutes between coats. and thanks for the tip.
if you want Plasti Dip colors to be more bright and popping always use a white backing
Not just for dip, but for painting in general.
You have A LOT more than 3 or 4 coats on that. Going over it 20 times doesn't equal a single coat. You can also see the spray marks in the black.
looks bad ass, I might do something similar with mine - good stuff
Dope as is homie 👍🏾👍🏾
Says he's doing another coat. Puts down the equivalent of five coats
looks good! word of advice when putting the first layer go slower not so fast you want to lay down a solid tact layer then the next coat make it thicker then the third and fourth make them slow and even to make solid coats. Good Job though!
Daniel Ellis thanks for the tips.
no problem
I did two simple stripes on my hood, but it feels rough not smooth at all. The color was black PD. I placed the can in warm water for 15 minutes and shook the can for at least a minute or two. I thought it would be much more smoother!!
plasti dip is smooth as fuck .. you did it wrong! Maybe you sprayed from a long distance? also the first 3 coats have to be very thin in order to be glossy
gotta do right side all over again or cover it again with black paint. good thing with plastidip is it doesnt show overlaps
looks dope
not bad, I like it
Sick car man, really like what you did , but agree about widening up the lines so it streamlines with the tail light. Ah well, you can always do that next time you dip your car in 2 years.
I didn't think an optima could look any better. Awesome job
thanks
hey man when you do the coats how long you wait in between because my car came out okay but nowhere as good as I know It could be?
i waited around 20 minutes in between...
Hey bro how long did it last
looks kool 👍👍
I personally think it looks terrible, but whatever floats your boat.
with the edges of the dip being exposed like that was it any less durable?
+Tim Williams not at all
Is there an edge between those two colours which you can see and feel? Like difference in height
Slight
Definitely should have followed the line made by the lights. I've learnt something though, wasn't sure how to best do striping.
looks good
Asome
u can put a white stripe which passes over the gas tank cap
I actually really like how it turned out.
Looks like the car came out the assembly line that way... Nice!
It would be quite good if you put a couple of coats of glossifier to get more of a contrast between the black and red :)
Toyota supra 43 i put only 1 coat of glossifier. think i might try more next time.
Sounds good :)
Did you paint this over black plasti dip?
yes I did it over matte black
I'm surprised how nice it worked out because your spray technique was pretty scary if you were using car paints because if that was it wouldn't look real good u would of had alot of bleeding in the paint not to mention your coats would be very off. But it looks good so props to you.
plasti dip is very forgiving
Go Rangers baby!! haha i heard the accent as soon as the video started (Brooklyn native, here)
Brooklyn all day baby i miss home native new yorker we everywhere!!!!

do you have amazon there if so that is where i get some colors.

I just really want to understand what the deal is with it, and why it's used in place of paint, thanks!
sNstRflyEr
Yea you Can Peel it off, but it won't stick to springs, since it is not flexible.
It's like rubber
How much HP did u add to your to car by doing this?
+xxFallenKnight how does it make you feel to take the bus?
Hahahah
lmao!
What a ridiculous comment. Silly.
i painted my brake calipers white and it added 50 hp each.
looks good but I think, the res stripe should match itself its kind of off to the side and it would bother someone with ocd
it would of popped and been more vibrant with a base coat of white
So sick. I'm doing this to my car.
ya dude deffinatly make the strip bigger, looks sick tho
Una pregunta maestro . quiero pintar las micas de mi auto con esa pintura plasti dip . se puede .
Leonardo Avila SI de puede
Nice
Didn't do a good enough of covering the car. There's still red plasti dip overspray on the car.
I think that the red should match the red that is in your lights.
Also, the bottom line should match the top line, in my opinion.. that way they will come together.
12 year old girl on my street did the exact same thing to her bike last week!!!!
I think it would look sick if you did the rest of the back end the same black.
hello.
what is you masking tape?
My tape is attache pastdip
thank you
+บวร อัครวิไล Blue painters tape
RICE, RICE BABY
nice
Corey Longenecker i did re-badge. I purchased the K5 and other's from the link below
www.k5optimastore.com/
in Korea the optima is known as the K5
The graphic in the middle is my family crest..I had a local graphic guy print it for me.
It's durable in washings?
yes..I go through the car wash with no problems
lol at overspray did you really not see that coming?
The shaking of was overkill
biggest blinker light ever..
put the stripe in the middle of the black stripe
How long in between coats sir?
maybe 10 minutes,give or take
Not too large and not too small, Nice. The masking was insufficient...
ada yg tau gak beli kepala spray nya..?
Is that an X6?
+Rushe Studios No. it is an Optima
Thanks, my bad
keep the overspray
So Cheesy I could make a sandwich.
dude that's too much can shaking imo 😂
I think it would look good with a red fuel door too.
Dip is probably gone by now but if you re-do it it would look sick as he'll with a red gas cap for an accent
Fantasmaa! :v
Any suggestions? Yeah take it off lol
I think it should be smaller. like so small you can't see it.
gotta make your own lines bro, not just paint an entire panel.
@Grant K 🤣🤣🤣🤣
now sprinkle some rice on it, and youre done.
wtf is this need for speed underground
looks like an Audi r8
😲
No mask?
ur insane for not covering the rest of the car with something.
tones of overspray
that's not how you thoroughly mix a can of spray paint
long strokes up in down is the wat to go
