I remember! I was a huge fan of the Magic Tree House series as a kid so it was the coolest
Some of my favorite memories from Poptropica include:
-The unironically well executed jumpscare on Cryptid Island (YOU KNOW THE ONE)
-Finally beating the Pirate Island (it was a real grind, but it felt rewarding to finally complete it)
-Beating the supervillains on Superhero Island
-Completing every island in the game and eagerly awaiting for the new one to be revealed.
-Just plain exploring the first couple islands and solving their puzzles in what turned out to be a relaxing adventure that got me hooked near instantly.
Poptropica was, and still is, a true gem of internet gaming. Even if the servers get taken down, I hope that some sort of fan-archive can be made like with other defunct MMOs. Or, even better, that some sort of Poptropica 2.0 can be made for a new generation. This game meant so much to a lot of people and it deserves to be preserved and remembered.

Don’t forget Ghost Store island. “Are you looking for someone” freaked me out. The game had no sound whatsoever at that point so it was completely left field. I was expecting a jump scare on the island and that is what got me.
I thought I was the only one who got jumpscared by that!!! I really liked cryptic island though, and even getting scared by that was fun for me

Poptropica wasn’t strictly single player!!!! There was always one building per island that was online and you could chat with people. I can’t remember if you could type whatever you wanted or if it was a set list of phrases. I think you could also play mini games with other players in there?? It’s so foggy, I haven’t done that since like 2008z
Sadly, nowadays the good ol’ glitchy Common Rooms are empty. I remember when there were to many people and I would have to refresh my page😂

Yeah but Poptropica World's was removed from the play store. And now it's just Poptropica. Actually Poptropica is still going. 2 new island came out yesterday or like a few days ago. Snazzlemast Island and Reality TV: Wild Safari. They removed the old islands but that's because it was made in flash so their porting it to a different engine that's not flash. You'll see them come back eventually. The only reason why there hasn't been so many islands lately is because of flash dieing. So their trying to port it ALL to a different engine. But their NOT removing it from PC.
@@rubixdude1067 Yeah that's actually why a lot of old maps have been taken down, they are being remade for the new poptropica. Probably one of my biggest complaints is how many items are no longer in the store but then it makes my silver renegade robot pretty unique, as well as items I purchased before they were member exclusive so I have some gold cards despite me never buying a membership.

I beat all of poptropica when I was younger and recently I went back to it and cried about the major lack of islands (apparently the newer accounts have even less :_( ) but I found a website directory thing in which I can play every single old island and its incredible and such a fun nostalgia trip XD

You could say I'm a veteran. My favourite island back in the day was either Steamworks, Spy, or Nabooti Island. I was there when only Early Poptropica, Shark Tooth, and Time Tangled Island were out. I was finishing all the islands as they came out and saw it grow and played a lot of the islands that are membership only for free. 12 years after I started, I still haven't found a game like it to fill the void in my 21 year old self's heart, now that they aren't releasing new islands anymore.
Edit: Apparently, they are coming out with a new one. I KNOW WHAT I'M GOING TO DO SOON!

The controls aren't bad, you just aren't used to them. It was one of the first games I ever really started playing a lot so I got used to it

@@LemonMoon Yeah, it was annoying. There was also a kinda difficult fighting mechanic where you had the ships, and my computer was too laggy to defeat the bad guys. So I had to wait a few years to complete it. But once you get the best ship it's easy

When they introduced the "Replay Island" feature, I completed Early Poptropica 100 times just to be able to say I did.

Man, I just looked into it for the first time in years. I figured after all this time, there'd be new islands I've never seen before. But instead, a lot of the best islands are gone.
-Skulldiggery, the pirate island (also one of the longest and hardest islands to beat, and also super fun, where you can literally become in debt to bank loans)
-Astro Knights, the other king of hard mode islands that mixed sci-fi with medieval fantasy.
-Poptropolis, the Olympic Games island that sank and then CAME BACK
-Counterfeit Island, the Art Heist island
-Steamworks, the Steampunk Island
-Cryptids Island where you hunt bigfoot
-Mystery Train, the historical fiction whodunnit island
-Ghost Story, the uh... the ghost story island
-Superpower, the Comic Book Island
-Red Dragon, the Magic Treehouse/Japan island
-Reality TV, the Survivor Island
There were just so many great ones, and now the only ones left that I really remember being amazing are Mythology, Prison Break, and to a lesser extent, 24 Carrot, and the Comicon Island.
It's crazy how much of this game I'm starting to remember because of this video and the comments, I'm getting vivid recollections of some of my favorite islands

I have been a part of the speedrunning community for this game, so It was very important for me to get information on whats happening and why so here we go. First off, It is being remade by hand in new code, so It will survive past flash (Yay!) Secondly, the reason all the old islands got removed was because they were made using an older form of code which new developers did not know how to use, so they got rid of them for security sakes and are working on remaking them. Holy shit, yes! I remember back when it was a beta test for members only. Luckily, i did have a membership back then.
I remember there was a spooky ghost island with a part where you can look through a telescope to see a place you passed through from a different angle (blew my 7 year old mind).
Well, I always played with the volume on max and after about 10 seconds of looking through the telescope there is actual audio of a lady behind you. This felt like playing a VR game and feeling the character's breath on your neck. Needless to say I jumped out of my chair and looked behind myself so fast that I hurt myself.

I remember calling my friends, asking my desk partner at school, and trying my best to follow walkthroughs on youtube just to find out how to escape the prison in the Escape from Pelican Rock Island.
This game was so fun, along with Club Penguin and Wizards 101, it has a special place in my heart

Some of my favorite islands are Back Lot, Night Watch, Mystery Train, Reality TV, Red Dragon, and Game Show, but I honestly love all of them and can’t wait for the old islands to come back so I can replay them and introduce my little sis to Poptropica.

you used to only be able to randomise your whole name - you couldn't choose each part, and you could go back. you also couldn't change it after.

Astro Knights Island was, and still is my favorite island.
Reasons:
1. Had customizable spaceships (If I remember correctly it impacts the gameplay)
2. You got to hurl the invincible space sharks into a black hole.
3. The lore of the island is well established, you are introduced to the villain early on, but never actually meet him till the very end. Also he has a cult which you sneak into.
4. You have a companion through the whole island. I won't say who, but having them by your side to help you solve puzzles, and even controlling them in the final boss is nice.

I played it once, and specifically this one where it had all diary of a wimpy kid themed stuff, a themed island. I played it a couple of times and then forgot about it and until this video I had this one fuzzy memory about it, and had no idea what it was for years. It tormented me for years, I asked people, they thought I was mental and now, I found it! Thank you :)

I remember liking the Spy island a lot, i think it had a hypnosis plot to it. And if memory serves it had a weird Bowtie-grappling hook as it's version of the "You beat most of the game here is the overpowered mobility tool" unlock, and I dug it.
