Deron is downright insane to be able to play that shit and sing at the same time. Such an underrated musician and song writer. Definitely one of the most unique styles out there.
He is a pretty humble guy as well. I saw them play at the viper room and after the show I'm having a smoke out front and he comes out pushing his half stack. I offered to give him a hand but he declined the offer. He chilled for a minute to chat, then found out I drove almost 200 miles to see the show. He couldn't believe it, and thanked me. Then I thanked him for being a badass musician. We thanked each other a few times then he was on his way. Dude doesn't seem to care about popularity, just wants to rock. His live vocals are so great imo.
@@PikkaBird I dedicated it to my mother a long time ago. When she heard the lyrics she cried because it described what she was going through. Now, I relate to it just as much as her. I was very proud to learn it for her on guitar.
How have i only just across this! Im half way through relearning AACBF and this was so cool to watch. Been a massive CKY fan since my teens as well! Was cool to see Shippensburg in there!
CKY has some of the must fun songs to play both and guitar and bass. Sink Into The Underground + All Power To Slaves really helped me learn to loosen my fingers on the bass when I first started. So glad to see someone showing them some love!
Great video, great playing. No Rio Bravo though? Love that riff. Had a new GF that was into CKY back in the day. Learned most of their first album and blew her away when I blasted through those riffs. Amazing band.
Deron is a incredible writer, people have bad things to say about him but I interact with him semi often and he's been nothing but an absolute sweetheart to me
you earned my subscription with this video my man! cky and deron miller in particular are the only reason i still play guitar to this day! no other songs are so satisfying to play, its just pure magic!
So happy you gave Karmaworks the love it deserves! Honorable mention has to include Knee Deep and Rio Bravo. They have so many great songs in their catalog.
Deron straddles the line of lead and rhythm guitar so seamlessly. Him and Jess need to put aside their differences, cuz Chad ain't cutting it as the front man for CKY. 96 Bitter Beings sound more like CKY than CKY does... Deron is the missing ingredient.
My mom bought me the fuCKYou shirt for Christmas in high school and every time I wore it the teachers got mad at me lmao, it became my main concert shirt for awhile and I always told everyone how underrated they were
Incredible list and awesome that you played all of them! Not being big on death metal I didn't realize how much of Deron's death metal influence really seeped in to how the songs were written and were may be typical of the genre just altered tempo. What I've always loved about CKY's (miller's) riffs were that they were so full of movement and had character and Voice of their own. It was never just a simple 3 chord Melody to flesh out the song, it's almost like he loops snippets of solos or some thing so they have this adventurous catchy nature that's always moving around. Iconic band!
I knew 96 Quite Bitter Beings would be #1. First heard part of that song on Bams video on the PS1 version of THPS3. The actual song wasn't on that version so I didn't hear the full song until I got the gamecube version a few months later. Got me into CKY and I spent a lot of my teenage years listening to Volume 1 and Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild. A couple of songs I like that didn't make your list are Rio Bravo and Plastic Plan. anyway cool video, Rock on man.
Solid list and tight playing, dude. I’m a bit disappointed that Lost in a Contraption didn’t make the cut, but I can’t imagine picking these was easy because Deron is incapable of writing a bad riff.
Great video man, cky rules and Deron is an absolute riff god. I think the unreleased song ‘Testing’ should be on here as well as the instrumental version of Disengage the Simulator! Awesome stuff dude, great playing. Familiar Realm also has some great riffs!
6:33 With 96 Bitter Beings, Deron played this song more often than when he was in CKY 10:23 Shippensburg also released on Disengage The Simulator EP. Released before Vol. 2 came out
Quite bitter beings randomly played on my RUclips music and I've never heard of it before or the band but absolutely fell in LOVE with the rift. Looked up this video out of curiosity and sire enough it's their number 1 XD
Fucking love CKY, criminally underrated even with the Jackass/CKY(films)/Tony Hawk 96 Bitter Beings notoriety. I was lucky enough to see them once with the OG lineup in Pittsburgh and it is to this day one of my all time favorite shows. Ill never forget the first time I fully dug into them and found ‘Disengage The Simulator’. It hit me in the soul and I was forever in love. Awesome compilation of CKY. You showed up in my recommended tonight and I’m excited to check out your other videos!
Props for learning all those riffs. My all time favorite CKY track is behind the screams. I don't fingerpick at all but i want to learn just to play it
CKY RIFFS are really good. To me they should have been as big as any other band but it just goes to show how hard the music industry is and they probably weren’t going to sell out because they are true to themselves. Great video brother 👍.
I always loved watching Bam's old CKY videos with all the demo/rough cut cky tracks included in them. My all time favorite from those has to be the original standard tuning version of Halfway House.
It was in the CKY Documentary that came out after CKY 1. You can find it on youtube I think, sometimes it's referred to as "Halfway house (hard version)" or something similar

Im ngl, Ive never heard of CKY until very recently. I heard the opening riff of 96 quite bitter beings on an instagram reels vid and had to shazam it! Learned that riff, now time to listen to their other stuff
CKY is definitely one of the most underrated bands ever.
YESSSSS
when a band starts hitting the charts, I really wouldn't call them underrated, they def would have been bigger if the band didnt have their issues.
true
I'd say yes but they've only really had 4 albums. They couldve got bigger if they built on Carver city. Especially considering they just signed to RR
They are definitely one of the bands of all time

I know right. Easily one of the most underrated artists of the 21th century. Carver City is a fucking masterpiece.
Since he joined malevolent creation he plays guitar and sings that stuff too totally boggles my mind
He is CKY
Great list. Deron is so under appreciated.
Have you heard his new band, 96 bitter beings? Can’t wait to hear their next album!
