Dillinger honestly have so many E standard riffs that are mean as hell, my choice personally would have gone to Prancer I think but there's a lot that could have made this list.
I was watching some chick play guitar on TikTok live, and I asked her to play some obituary. She then cussed me out and said that they strictly tune to D standard. She quickly googled it while on live and apologized.😂😂😂
Dude this. I seen them a few months ago when they toured with Fit for an Autopsy. They only had 6 songs a few people knew who they were. I was excited to see them and left after their set.
dang. just what i needed, i was getting annoyed at needing to drop z for every song i would want to play. perfect time, and i also think a overlooked factor of heavyness is your tone. it makes worlds of diference what tone you got
This video could've been an assortment of any 10 songs from Sylosis' first 4 albums and it'd still be accurate For real though, Dead Embryonic Cells by Sepultura, the riff right after the solo. Pure chunk
From my experience being in metal bands and jamming with other musicians, you can make any tuning sound great if you know how to play and are creative.
Most Darkthrone songs are in E-Standard and they are masters of major riffage, especially on their newer records. Eon 3 mix isn't the best, but the riffs are HUGE!
One thing i want to see is a comparison video where faux-heavy downtuned riffs are played in E-standard next to actually heavy riffs that were in E-standard to begin with and are actually heavy.
Pustulated - aroma of vaginitis. It's brutal deathmetal. But it breaks into this really groovy slam riff at a point. And then anything off the gonorrhea Mastication Nodule album from cerebral incubation. They don't make slam like that anymore.
A dope ass riff in E standard is at 2:38 in Summer Rain by Sikth, a band that never got their due respect for being a djent pioneer up there with Meshuggah. For non E standard, the intro riffs of both Better Written Villain and Character Development from the new 156/Silence album are mean as fuck. I also don’t know if you could say it sounds “mean” but there are some awesome moments off the new Gaerea album. That’s all I’ve got right now 😂
I know most people see Muse as a Pop band or at least a Alt Rock band but most of them sleep on their riffs.. HEAVY riffs in E standard from Muse : Hysteria, Fury, Minimum and Ill finish with the most iconic one althought the riff doesn't focus mainly on the E string it does belong with E standards tuning and is an iconic riff, Knights Of Cydonia.
Yooo, you hit my soul with that Marduk song, Plague Angel is the best black metal album by them in my honest opinion, Steel Inferno is my favourite from thr album, but Throne Of Rats is a solid choice
i like standard because you can make such “evil” sounding riffs with it. when you lower the tuning the riffs arent as ear piercing and menacing. they still sound cool but they just get lower if you get what i am trying to say. example, the riff changes on slayers first album show no mercy. specifically the songs the antichrist, die by the sword and metal storm/face the slayer. long time huge slayer fan. i like my riffs to sound evil.
Zao splinter shards the birth they tune up half a step and it still jams. Don't think low tuning matters for "heavy" especially if you have a bass player.
writing comment before I see the video, if sylosis isn't in the video, I'm gonna be mad after watching the video :very well played, and I'm not mad :), servitude at this point is a generic HEAVIEST E Standard riff since it's in every video, almost every song can be on the list from the first 4 albums
There are a lot of great riffs on Trivium's Crusade, but I feel like the whole album is undone by the flat production. I feel like it would benefit from a remaster, especially if it's done by Josh Middleton.
What other riffs could be included on this series? (could be other specific tunings)
I don't know which you've included, but a Thrash Metal edition would be sick
Or in exchange, an Eb edition (It's all gonna be Slayer and will be peak)
As far as I know, the series hasn't included any riffs from The Acacia Strain. Take your pick, they have a lot of nasty riffs on every single album.
Melodeath riffs please
Potentially, Drop C could have it's own video. I know you love that tuning!
@@lacalacadevic2887 yeah for Eb, Slayer is a must
For E standard that tone is filthy!! My hats off to you.
Thank you sir. It’s the ToneSuite - Distant by Wavemind
0:55 Engine no9 - Deftones
1:47 Crossbreaker - Power Trip
2:23 Panasonic Youth - The Dillinger Escape Plan
5:20 Anthems of Apocalypse - Winds of Plague
6:40 Throne of Rats - Marduk
7:40 Masters' Apprentice - Opeth
8:28 Firestorm - Earth Crisis
9:36 Ignition -Trivium
10:33 In the Presence of Enemies Pt 2 - Dream Theater
11:57 Servitude - Sylosis

Releases the sane video 3 days later 💀 now time to watch yours
Miss Machine mentioned!!!! Dillinger kicks so much ass, insanely heavy riffs for E standard!
Damn right
One of the best mathcore albums ever
Dillinger honestly have so many E standard riffs that are mean as hell, my choice personally would have gone to Prancer I think but there's a lot that could have made this list.
Serenity Painted Death or Heir Apparent by Opeth would've gone crazy
Glad to see trivium
Well of course
Obituary has some E standard death metal riffs i think those are heavy af
Yeah I forgot slowly we rot was in E
@@jojoplaysmusic exactly the song I was gonna mention. That intro riff is mean as FUCK
Their whole first album is E standard
Dude, I am so glad you included Earth Crisis! 🤘🤘🔥
Of course!
Could have chosen a better from that song though
The whole album SLOWLY WE ROT by Obituary is in E standard, and it's heeeeeeeeeavyyyyyy 😤😤😤😤😤😤
I was watching some chick play guitar on TikTok live, and I asked her to play some obituary. She then cussed me out and said that they strictly tune to D standard. She quickly googled it while on live and apologized.😂😂😂
i love seeing the crusade get some love! sick video in all
Sylosis: a criminally underrated band since 2000.
P.S: Awesome video bro!
Dude this. I seen them a few months ago when they toured with Fit for an Autopsy. They only had 6 songs a few people knew who they were. I was excited to see them and left after their set.
@@Theterbear Same, saw them in Barcelona last year with Malevolence. The mosh pit was my realm that time!
Summoning the Lich is absolutely heavy AF and in standard E.
Extremely slept on band, they are sooooooo so good and their guitar work is off the chain
dang. just what i needed, i was getting annoyed at needing to drop z for every song i would want to play. perfect time, and i also think a overlooked factor of heavyness is your tone. it makes worlds of diference what tone you got
Dimmu Borgir - Kings of the Carnival Creation (Intro/Verse riff).
Loving the riff videos. Many yt guitarists have fogotten to keep this up.
Yes dude!! Dillinger, Earth Crisis and Opeth some of my favorite metal bands. Panasonic Youth is such a crazy song. Awesome riffs. Great video!
Winds of plague are beautiful.
and still suuuper underrated
Winds of plague is hands down my favorite band! I cannot FATHOM how they are still so underrated to this day
@@wakeboardingandfishing1813probably because they tuned to E standard
Good man for putting Dillinger in there. Some of the heaviest riffs ever written in standard.
The head crusher breakdown from Megadeth
OGs know this is the second time you played panasonic youth in this channel
A real one right here
Ensiferum - Goblin Song
The verse riff is fucking brutal for being in E standard
This video could've been an assortment of any 10 songs from Sylosis' first 4 albums and it'd still be accurate
For real though, Dead Embryonic Cells by Sepultura, the riff right after the solo. Pure chunk
W pfp and W song, love Dead Embryonic Cells
Am I Savage by metallica has a really mean riff at around the 4min mark, that riff is dope and underrated
Definitely Domination for the E standard meane riffs
Dimebag tuned like a quarter step down for that song
@DiscardatRandom yeah, but it's still considered as E standard actually!
@JPSHARP0666but it's not. It's called E flat for a reason. It's not E standard
@@beefnacos6258 oh damn, so I was told some bs 🙄
Wow that ad was actually relevant Im having the exact same string problem with my cheapo super strat
Summoning the Lich - Descend.
TBDM vibes mixed with DnD/Mtg vibes. Saw them two years ago and they rip!!!
Uninstalling if i don't see Sylosis 😬
Hehehehehe
@@jojoplaysmusicbahah it was getting close to the end and i was worrying a bit 😂
I was thinking thinking the same thing lol
FOR THE NEXT VIDEO DO BIG ASS TRUCK (by big ass truck) the intro is just pure chugging beatdown and is so fun! Love the vids 🤘
Loved this episode! Another amazing E Standard riff is Metallica's Am I Savage breakdown riff.
Yes... Miss Machine love, literally my favorite album of all time.
Peak album tbh
Pure from Mors Principum Est, probably the most crushing riffs and production I've heard using E Standard
intro riff and first breakdown part of Endgame is Near by Stillbirth are also great
ADD SUMMONING THE LICH IN THE NEXT VID
MY HORRORS UNENDING
THATS WHAT IM SAYING
You got good taste
From my experience being in metal bands and jamming with other musicians, you can make any tuning sound great if you know how to play and are creative.
To me, the intro of Funeral Bell by Black Label Society makes me happy every time. Didn't really know it was in E standard for a while
Opeth [check]
Trivium [check]
Sylosis [check]
appreciate you brother \mm/
Most Darkthrone songs are in E-Standard and they are masters of major riffage, especially on their newer records. Eon 3 mix isn't the best, but the riffs are HUGE!
Something from The red chord should be here. Pioneers of deathcore, super heavy, and amazingly on E standard tuning! 😱
DROP B VIDEO WOULD GO CRAZY 🙏🙏
Definitely a must
I almost thought that you will leave Sylosis out, but i was quiet til the end, fortunately
no Immortal? "Where Light and Dark Don't Differ" crushes
DIssection's Frozen, the riffs between "Tears in my eyes" to "I, Transylvanian son". That riff goes so hard, and it's in standart tuning
the Chaotic poster in the back goes hard, miss that game and show. still have some cards
I still have ALL my cards
E standard and Eb on andalucian cadence or phrygian mode is one of the meanest things on earth.
You pick the best bands that are actually heavy
One thing i want to see is a comparison video where faux-heavy downtuned riffs are played in E-standard next to actually heavy riffs that were in E-standard to begin with and are actually heavy.
I think that just defeats the point of writing in other tunings. Could be a fun idea nonetheless.
Opeth and Dillinger Escape Plan are kings of Mean E Standard Riffs... Or at least the most popular options for this
Sylosis🔥 one of my favourite bands
Dillinger Escape Plan deserve way more love
WAYYY more
Pustulated - aroma of vaginitis.
It's brutal deathmetal. But it breaks into this really groovy slam riff at a point.
And then anything off the gonorrhea Mastication Nodule album from cerebral incubation.
They don't make slam like that anymore.
3 Inches of Blood:
“Deadly Sinners”
“Goat riders Horde”
Two amazing E Standard riff songs.

Not one old Dimmu Borgir song, every song from and riff from PEM is fantastic. you gotta make a part 2!
Any Deadguy riff should be on this list. It's just so brutal
These were nasty Riffs. Great job jojo!
Thank you!

Deicide - Legion is in E standard. I think it definitely tops anything here.
It blew my mind the day I found out WOP played in E standard.
World of Pleasure is peak
Iron Mind HC from Melbourne, Australia.
The ‘Hell Split Wide Open’ LP is probably the heaviest record I’ve ever heard in E standard
Deicide- Legion is all E Standard. One of the best Death Metal albums ever.
Also, Marduk rules (their newest album is great).
Eb standard actually

You’re very welcome
I never listen to Dillinger Escape Plan but it's funny to me how the riff initially reminded me slightly of Deathspell Omega?
Do this for every tuning
D STANDARD NEXT

Deterioration of Minds - Soreption. Opening riff. Drums really drive it home but such a dummy headbanger.
