I got to 7 cm without meds until I could feel my C-section scar with each contraction, which was often and long by that point. So I got an epidural right around 8cm and I'm so glad I did. The C-section scar pain was the absolute worst, I wasn't mentally prepared for that. I ended up having baby girl a few hours later. They took her to the NICU for observation bc we didn't know how long she went without amniotic fluid, but thank God she was just fine and we were able to bring her home after a few days. She turns 1 next week 😍 thanks for asking!
I just want to say thank you for gently and kindly explaining things like the mucus plug. I always feel silly, like shouldn’t I know these things already; like, my friend recently gave birth and was telling her birth story to me and a couple other ladies and EVERYONE but me understand all the terms, whereas I was secretly making a note in my head to google stuff later. But when you started just lovingly explaining what it was and didn’t assume everyone knows - dang that hit me hard and I was SO relieved. Thank you so much for being so thoughtful and explaining everything so kindly.

I’m 35+6 and just lost some mucus plug today. Came right after a little light cramping, with a light pink tinge. My cervix is open and I’m dilated 1cm. First baby and I have a strong feeling he’ll be here a couple of weeks before his due date. The anxiety and nervousness is real…😅 What’s also real is lightning crotch. 🙈
39 weeks pregnant with first baby. Had cramping for 4 days and this morning I lost my mucous plug and cramps have gotten worse, the cramps also increase in pain when I lay down. The cramps are about a minute long and happening every 5 to 30 mins. Please pray for me and wish me luck.
My mucus plugs (3 births) were always very thick in consistency and opaque, usually with blood streaks. They never looked like egg whites for me, so I thought I’d throw that out there for other expecting moms to know! Thank you for your informative and encouraging videos!
Mine were always thicker and opaque as well, but usually streaked with blood which is what got my attention. Discharge is so common through most of pregnancy that if it weren’t for the amount and bloody streaks I wouldn’t have thought anything of it 😂
I am 30 weeks pregnant but Im already getting signs. I thought I was losing my mucus plug a couple months ago but I believe it was just clear sticky discharge. But today I started having pieces of yellow thick stuff coming out but not a whole lot. She's already weighing in about 5 ibs. And I feel like I will be having her soon. My midwife expects tonight, so I'm going to be doing everything I can because if I don't go into labor tonight, I'll have to be induced at 7:30am tomorrow and I would rather not do that. Then they suddenly stopped... which I am kind of glad they stopped for a bit because the pain is unreal. Then I lost the plug this afternoon... Mines shed a week prior to delivery. I was freaking out cause it was my first pregnancy. I immediately went in to see my obgyn and was ready to be admitted in my mind but he checked me and said that I was good to go and to remain on bed rest and he explained to me that it was actually the mucus plug had shed. I was so annoyed but when it was actually that time I panicked even more 😆😆😆😆 For that next week I was experiencing contractions in my lower back the entire time.

I think I’ve been having prodromal labor for the last two nights in a row. It felt like period like craps and a little back pain but the first night it occurred, baby was moving so much that it hurt. Labor can go on for WEEKS! AND WEEKS! The more babies you have, the more likely you will be contracting for weeks on end. And still you will come to your due date. The best thing to do is IGNORE them all. If it is true labor at some point it will HIT YOU. Otherwise it drives you crazy.

Okay I’m almost 39 weeks, dilated 1-2 two days ago when I got checked. Doc could feel baby’s head. I’ve been having steady contractions that last most of the day with cramping and moderate back pain going on 5 days. I just had what sounds like mucous plug come away this morning. Cloudy jelly like with a tinge of brown. You said notify people, do you mean that I should notify my doctor NOW? My next appt is Monday. This will be my first delivery after a mc. Ugh. I had a membrane sweep and lost my mucus plug for 3 days after, and ive cramped on and off with some consistent braxton hicks too over the past 2 weeks. I feel like an idiot every time I think labor is starting, and then nothing happens :( With my last one, my water broke at random without all these symptoms prior.

I was induced with my first at 39 weeks and I had no signs of labor. I am trying my best to let labor happen naturally with my second, currently 38.5 weeks. I am nervous I’m going to be that mom going to the hospital too early and be turned away. This video reassured me on the signs I should be on the look out for.
Lost my mucus plug at 34 weeks. Have been having prodromal labor since then (now at 36 weeks). Contractions throughout the day and 1-2 hours of time-able contractions that are less than 5 minutes apart every night. Last scan showed baby in ROP; doing everything I can to get baby in a better position. Can’t imagine another 4 weeks of this.

I have 2 questions ... #1 How 'big' is the mucus plug? Are we talking about the size of, say a cherry, or are we talking about something closer to, say a kiwi? #2 How long might one expect early labor to last. You mention several times that it can be a while, but what does that mean? Hours? Days?

I usually lose my mucas plug first and go into labor anywhere between 6-10 hours later. I’ve experienced seeing the whole thing at one time and also only a small amount. Enough to know when to call my midwife to let her know. I’m overdue right now with my 4th baby and still waiting for it!

Mines shed a week prior to delivery. I was freaking out cause it was my first pregnancy. I immediately went in to see my obgyn and was ready to be admitted in my mind but he checked me and said that I was good to go and to remain on bed rest and he explained to me that it was actually the mucus plug had shed. I was so annoyed but when it was actually that time I panicked even more 😆😆😆😆 For that next week I was experiencing contractions in my lower back the entire time.

If i have painful period cramps (most likely from endometriosis) will that mean my early labor that people say feels like period cramps will be just as severe? Or will it be different? If that makes sense
I think I’ve been having prodromal labor for the last two nights in a row.
It felt like period like craps and a little back pain but the first night it occurred, baby was moving so much that it hurt. Off to see the midwife tomorrow.
My official due date is in 16 days time.

I lost my mucus plug the same day I gave birth. My water was broken and the baby came out in under two pushes.

The moment my mucus plug fell,water broke and baby was out within 30 minutes after ,so I think things are different with everyone , Because I was thinking it's early labor,if not for hubby who insisted we go to the hospital am sure I would have delivered at home

Labor can go on for WEEKS! AND WEEKS!
The more babies you have, the more likely you will be contracting for weeks on end. And still you will come to your due date. The best thing to do is IGNORE them all. If it is true labor at some point it will HIT YOU. Otherwise it drives you crazy.
I have been having cramps that feel like menstrual cramps for the past couple days and I just lost my mucus plug (with a little blood) this afternoon. I’m 40weeks+1 today and I can’t wait to meet my baby girl! Still wondering when she is coming. 😂😂😂 By the way, can I still put EPO in my vagina after I lost my mucus plug? Is it safe to do so?
Im 28 weeks so i still have a ways to go. This is my second pregnancy. But struggled to get pregnant with the second. So i feel like im a kinda a new mom all over again. 6 years later and i finally got pregnant so i feel like i forgot everything i learned the first time around. So this is such a good refresher. I know your comment is older but same! My oldest will be 6 in a couple months, I am 38 weeks pregnant and have been dilated at a 3 for almost a week now.. I’m so anxious. My oldest cane very different at a month early, water broke before contractions or dilation and I had to have pitocin. This time waiting naturally I am like WHAT IS MY BODY DOING?!
Okay I’m almost 39 weeks, dilated 1-2 two days ago when I got checked. Doc could feel baby’s head. I’ve been having steady contractions that last most of the day with cramping and moderate back pain going on 5 days. I just had what sounds like mucous plug come away this morning. Cloudy jelly like with a tinge of brown. You said notify people, do you mean that I should notify my doctor NOW? My next appt is Monday. This will be my first delivery after a mc. Ugh. I had a membrane sweep and lost my mucus plug for 3 days after, and ive cramped on and off with some consistent braxton hicks too over the past 2 weeks. I feel like an idiot every time I think labor is starting, and then nothing happens :(
With my last one, my water broke at random without all these symptoms prior.
when I was 37 weeks and 5 days I thought I am going to be in labor soon since I lost my mucus plug. But I'm wrong LOL now, at 39 weeks with 1-2cm dilation, I usually feel inconsistent contractions but not a real labor 😅 thanks for this video momma

36 weeks, 37 in 2 days! Already lost my mucus plug, still losing bits and pieces. 2-3 dilated and 50% effaced... my first born came at 37 weeks I pray she comes next week ! I’m miserable and in pain!

I was induced with my first at 39 weeks and I had no signs of labor. I am trying my best to let labor happen naturally with my second, currently 38.5 weeks. I am nervous I’m going to be that mom going to the hospital too early and be turned away. This video reassured me on the signs I should be on the look out for.
Lost my mucus plug at 34 weeks. Have been having prodromal labor since then (now at 36 weeks). Contractions throughout the day and 1-2 hours of time-able contractions that are less than 5 minutes apart every night. Last scan showed baby in ROP; doing everything I can to get baby in a better position. Can’t imagine another 4 weeks of this.
Do you recommend being at home and chill or go for a walk and be more active through early labor?

Same situation as me! Did you wind up going into labour soon after? I had a lot of really uncomfortable pains and pressure in my pelvis last night, then this morning I had bloody mucus! A little bit of achiness in my lower back once in awhile, but not a whole lot is going on yet. Due tomorrow lol

2 days ago I find out I'm 4cm dilate, today I lost my mucus plugs and I am due tomorrow. Haven't had any contractions for 2 days.

I have 2 questions ... #1 How 'big' is the mucus plug? Are we talking about the size of, say a cherry, or are we talking about something closer to, say a kiwi? #2 How long might one expect early labor to last. You mention several times that it can be a while, but what does that mean? Hours? Days?
I’m 35 weeks pregnant and noticed last night I’ve had clear thick stretchy mucus but it wasn’t a whole lot...this is my third baby.. with this baby I’ve had nothing but menstral cramps

I usually lose my mucas plug first and go into labor anywhere between 6-10 hours later. I’ve experienced seeing the whole thing at one time and also only a small amount. Enough to know when to call my midwife to let her know. I’m overdue right now with my 4th baby and still waiting for it!

Way to late now, but for anyone else that reads this it sounds like lightning Crotch here. Baby usually triggering a nerve as she presses downward or is pressing on the cervix.
My doctor has said I am in early labor and have been sitting there for the past 4 days! So frustrating, but using this advice to help distract myself.

39 currently. I don’t know when I lost my mucus plug, I did see a tiny amount on my tissue at some point but my doctor said I had lost it and I’m dilating already🤷🏽♀️ it’s not a big deal.

36 weeks and still haven’t lost my mucus plug. With my other 2 I lost it on the first day of 37 weeks. But they were both one week late. Mine looked like literal phlegm and snot lol about a palm sized amount. I do have soft stools, crazy Braxton Hicks so I’m impatiently waiting for baby 👶🏻

40 weeks + 4 days and just lost my plug. Opaque kind of cream color, gelatinous, and old blood streaks. No contractions... maybe little braxtons that are not even uncomfortable. Zero pain atm... 3 cm dilated and 60-70% effaced (had my exam this morning at 9 am, it is now 11 pm). First baby

I'm pretty sure I'm in prodomal labor and have been for about a week. It's exhausting.
I'm 38 weeks will be 39 weeks in 3 days. At my OB app yesturday I got checked for dilation I'm dialating 1 1/2cm. Late last night I went to the bathroom and notisted a bloody mucus comw out. "Bloody show" is what came up when I looked up what it could be.
40 weeks tomorrow baby no.3 and so confused! You’d think it would be similar each birthing journey but not one bit! I had prodromal labor this time around and have had an annoying achy tummy/back for 2 days straight. Hoping I can have my baby tomorrow ( due date )
What if the bits of mucus plug went from egg white clearish yellow with red blood spot and random turns to an all brown color? Mine just started coming out brown in last hour. Been in early labor 5 days now. I'm only 35weeks +4 days. Docs say I'll most likely deliver within a week. I'm scared and over paranoid now bc Everything is going downhill it feels like. I have my first child who is 14 and lost 8 to miscarriages now I finally am pregnant and his due date is dec 29th. I just want him to be ok. 😞
