- Here's a walk around of the famous Bonita Bill's Hurricane Ian Boat. She was removed from her place up on the deck at the former Bonita Bill's on January 25th, 2025. This is the final look at her as she was just scrapped today, January 28th, 2025.

The boat turned into a popular tourist attraction on Fort Myers Beach, FL. Hundreds, maybe thousands of people signed it and put stickers on it. It was a reminder of the devastation, but also how far Fort Myers Beach has come since Hurricane Ian in 2022.
Many people wanted to boat to be reused or turned into something else, but that was not the case. I did talk to the team that scrapped the boat and asked for a special section of the bow so that we could hang it up in the Marina Cantina restaurant next to Salty Sam's Marina. I'm not sure if they did or not as the boat was just scrapped and I haven't talked to them yet.
Hopefully this walk around of the boat on it's last days is a fond memory for some.
Cheers,
Ryan

At least it lives on forever here!
A reason we like doing these videos, it's like a time capsule. Cheers!
A piece of that hull would be a great artsy wall hanger.
Tried to get a piece but the machines they used weren't able to save anything.
End of an era but the new owners are getting busy and I’m sure it will be a great location to stop for food and drinks. That whole area needs to come back strong and this is just part of it.
Agree
That's sad. That's a Bertram 42. We had one for seven years. Great rough sea boat because it has the same v-hull as the Bertram 42 sportfish. That thing would really plow through the chop. Except for the engines going under, it would have been worth repairing. You have to admit, it did look kind of cool there.
I agree, kind of liked it.
I actually feel bad for her former owner. It must have been horrible to see her impaled on that dock.
Serious missed opportunity to somehow turn this into seating for a bar or restaurant or an attraction somewhere. I've been on a few and it adds to the ambiance of those places. This iconic tourist attraction is an opportunity to pay respect to all of those who lost so much. A donation box with a suggested $1 contribution to sit on it would generate funds and could be used to help with something. I would pay an upcharge on drinks or food knowing the money went to something good. No it's not going to rebuild an entire island community but it would be something positive. At the end of the year award a scholarship to an island residents child or grandchild for example. Not everything needs to come from multi million dollar investments or wealthy people. Every individual tile in a dance floor together makes a dance floor.
It’s a great idea. We appreciate the perspective.
I hope you do get part of it 🙏
I'm trying.
My sister Noel, my grandson Rocco and I have signed the boat
Awesome!
I didn't see my signature, but I saw my 14 year old daughter's!
Awesome!
I put Cathryn Warsaw Indiana!
