The "Bad Boys" Pistons really needed a third ring, though, to make themselves respected on the all-time greatest teams list. And if you're a true Pistons fan, you know how close they came!
in 1990, the bulls were better than the pistons, but pippen showed a lack of character in game 7 and feigned a migraine because he was afraid of Rodman. In 1989, the Pistons were lucky that the Leakers got injured.the pistons broke many teams with brutal fouls, but later the bulls learned to play hard better than the pistons, and the pistons' brutal fouls were no longer enough, even though the team was at the best age to win.

A self pass is allowed in the air. Travel calls only count when feet touch the floor. It's why you can throw the ball off the back board and finish. You are in the air. It's only a travel if your feet never left the ground (true definition of self pass travel violation) or he comes back to the ground with it (Up and Down travel violation)
Whoever compares Isiah and Curry, they just don't know what TOUGH means. When Curry plays on an ankle as big as a melon and sets the all-time record for an Nba Finals quarter, against a team the same caliber of the 1988 Lakers, on the road, then we can start talking. Until then, all the 3s of the whole universe or some other rings on super-teams will not mean shit. The only reason Isiah is not the greatest point guard of all-time is that one day a guy named Magic Johnson was born. The day you'll understand why there can't be comparison between Thomas and Curry, is the day you'll have become a true basketball fan. Until then, you can watch as many games as you want, but you''ll always be missing something crucial about the game of basketball. Out.
You can compare how good they are regardless of how tough Isaiah was in comparison to Curry, and Curry is better. He single-handedly revolutionized the game on both sides of the ball. IT is awesome, but Curry and Magic are in a league of their own. Just because you aren't a super physical or tough player doesn't mean that at the end of the day you're any less great and 1v1 IT would not know what to do with Curry. We've never seen anything like him before or anything close to it.
Wow, get your nose out of Isaiah's ass. I don't anyone besides you who would consider Isaiah the greatest PG of all time - Magic Johnson included or not. Dude was a fair shooter (45 % on FG attempts, an embarrassing 29% from three point range, 76% free throw shooter, a weak 3.6 rebounds per game and a 19.2 point per game average). He could assist the ball and had above average ball handling skills, but Curry is on a whole other level as a PG. He could not carry Curry's jockstrap if he played today. Just because the rules are stricter today than years ago, it does not mean today's players any less tough. Today's NBA features top talent from all over the world and players today are bigger, faster and stronger. You got nothin'.
You're leaving John Stockton out of the equation which is not fair. He is the all-time assist and steal leader you know, by a huge margin in both categories.
In my opinion he was the fastest and most electrifying guard ever, and sure one of the top 15 players in NBA history. He had absolutelly everything. His mind was so determined and his spirit was winner. He made much better other great players that were around him, something not other great players can say. Is really very very unfair when i see him listed behind Stockton and some others that never achieved what he did. I feel lucky to have lived closely that 80's and early 90's NBA.
This is the GOAT. Undoubtedly the greatest artist of basketball, the guy who dribbled making music. No one else has ever done what Isiah did in the NBA court. This guy thought basketball as no one else.
Most part of the game is done without the ball so you'd have to think what to do to disbalance the game without touching it. Our greatest gift as humans and our powerful tool is our brain and our social structure as specie so that's it in basketball. To me the goat title goes to the guy who thought and felt it better, the guy who better lead in a NBA court and was truly gifted in hands, brain and heart. The smallest guy on the court but was willing to humiliate you as a player by himself AND who was a brain for a physical team because that was what he had in his hands to work with and made it to a win against the greatest ever. The best teammate he had was Joe Dumars, c'mon! Won it against bird, Kareen, Jordan and co. Simply the goat that numbers don't show.
Jordan can't be the greatest because he made his teammates play it worse just because of his mindset and basketball is a collective game. A true hooper knows greatness is to make the other 4 guys with you play it better and a guy who can even made Rodman had his buckets playing along with him is nothing but great.
It’s hard to find a ball handler that keeps that same fast break pace when crossing over under the legs. Isaiah and Tim Hardaway were the best at this.
@Gabrielle Hollier You damn right!!What other point messed his ankle up and got basically carried up and down the court to chop some more heads for a quote unquote championship...Jordan Who????
In 1981 I was 6 yaers old and I had a poster of Zeak cutting down the nets after winning the ncaa and Roberto Duran and Tommy "the hit man Herns. This clip was made for me. Thank you! Larry Bird fits there some were too. That was a long time ago.
The Pistons of his era were, as a team, very unselfish. With around 8 players on the team who could have started elsewhere, and got plenty of minutes, this attitude was almost mandatory there, and is one reason why Dantley had to go.
Awesome video my guy, liked how U put this together! & what can I say that hasn’t already been said about Isaiah Thomas fr fr? I salute U for your contribution to the game! 💪🏾

Stockton with Malone - 0 championships Isiah Thomas with blue collar ballers - 2 championships. Isiah Thomas is underrated. Max is spitting fantasy football / basketball facts. He isn’t analyzing the skill level or talent of the players being compared. On no planet is Isiah Thomas a hair above Stockton. There are levels to this
If you want to compare joe Dumars to Stockton that’s fine. Stockton had a top three PF of all time and couldn’t get a ship. That Utah team didn’t have scrubs. Point is the star has to lead you to a championship. Stockton isn’t the Star Isiah is .
The biggest heart & soul in a little man EVER. Smarter than Iverson. Better than Steph. Tougher than GP. More all around than Stockton. 🏆🏆 The PG GOAT! 🏀 🐐
Basketball is a game that favors the tall man. Thomas was short, especially by today's standard, at 6'1", and watching him move, you just don't get the same sense of power that you do watching Bird, Johnson, Lebron, and even Jordan at 6'6". But Thomas was inhumanely quick. I watched him in awe as a Piston's fan for Thomas' entire career. He was the very best I've ever seen going to the basket. He zipped through all the redwoods in the paint, making half a dozen moves and fakes while doing so, and either scored or went to the line over and over and over again. He was equally adept with either hand, and you could not defend him by favoring his right hand. His ability to drive to the hoop was triggered by his amazing quickness. He had a tremendous first step around the guard trying to check him, and once his was gone, that guard wasn't going to catch up to him. HIs quickness gave him room to shoot the jumper, and sort of like Jordan in his early years, the jumper was where Thomas had a weak spot. He was a very streaky shooter. Just as he hit for 24 points on a severely sprained ankle in one quarter of the finals, he could also clank a half-dozen straight jumpers off the back rim. You never know which shooter was going to show up for the game on any given night. But he was never a ball hog. If his shot wasn't on, he'd pass the the guy who had the hot hand. He was highly skilled at every aspect of the game, even rebounding. He was a joy to watch, and it was great to see him win back-to-back championships. It would have been a three-peat if The Microwave and Dantley hadn't concussed each other in that semi-final against the Celtics. There have been many great NBA guards. I can't think of one greater than Thomas. Jordan was a small forward, not a natural guard. It just seem that no guard is ever going to be viewed in the same light as the larger and more muscular players that always included in GOAT discussions.
The guy was one of the most talented in basketball history. Do u imagine if he had played with Jordan since the beginning in the Bulls (since he was from Chicago). What a beast!

Isiah Thomas and Joe Dumars was one of the most lethal back courts ever, it's ashame Isiah got left off the dream team in 92, really enjoyed watching him play, his handles, heart, clutch shot making ability and athleticism was second to none

That was Joe D, actually.

That was Dumars.
True legit handles. None of the carrying the ball you see today. Best handles ever.
I love Zeke and Iverson but hands down I have to give the best handles of all time to Kyrie Irving
James Harden
Lionel Butler He just dribbles fancy

Nobody carries today dude. Lol its illegal
I’ve always felt Isiah Thomas and Hakeem Olajuwon are the 2 most underrated players in NBA history
Totally Agree!

Bill was pretty solid from the perimeter too. Wasn't always the bully as portrayed. 80's Pistons were damn near the Space Jam Monsters but could really play. 😂 Their Bad Boy stigma will stick for a betterment than detriment, future wise.
Isiah led Pistons had a winning record v Jordan, Magic, Bird. None of them can say that. Nuff said. Killer.

Watching him play on one ankle against LA in the Finals. The man was a beast.
So much fun watching Isiah in his prime, How many teams did he destroy, and not just by himself, half the time he took it in himself and the other half he passed it to someone wide open who nailed it, so while I was flipping a coin to find out which way it might go Isiah was making sure we scored. One way or the other. Isiah was unstoppable and there wasn't anything anyone could do about it.

One of the best PG all time💪
What he did in Game 7 against Chicago and then in Game 1 in the final against Portland was amazing.
My favorite player of all time.
Out.
Truth
Elnardo Webster no true! He get respects!!
Everyone knows Isaiah Thomas.
Absolute beast of a player, everything you could ask from a point guard, to me, the best to ever play that position
2:33 maybe most underrated pass in history
Brian Gates I don’t know how that pass isn’t on highlights every year. Perfect timing AND spin to end up in Worm’s hands in stride.
That's Dumars not Thomas...
His style was unreal
This is the GOAT. Undoubtedly the greatest artist of basketball, the guy who dribbled making music. No one else has ever done what Isiah did in the NBA court. This guy thought basketball as no one else.
I highly respect Isaiah but he isn’t the goat I’m baised because I’m a Celtics fan but still
People aren't ready for this conversation
@@brunnogurgel3076 Larry bird was much better than him and mj was much better than him it is a top 5 pg ever but he’s not even close to the goat

I can appreciate how unselfish he is with the ball. He seems like a true team player.
The Pistons of his era were, as a team, very unselfish. With around 8 players on the team who could have started elsewhere, and got plenty of minutes, this attitude was almost mandatory there, and is one reason why Dantley had to go.

If you want to compare joe Dumars to Stockton that’s fine. Stockton had a top three PF of all time and couldn’t get a ship. That Utah team didn’t have scrubs. Point is the star has to lead you to a championship. Stockton isn’t the Star Isiah is .

@@brunnogurgel3076 right that's why I say "True PG" not the hybrid point-FW.
4:19 Jordan is still trying to find him....
that was joe dumars losing jordan, but still that move was quick like zeke i could see how this dude that put this video together got mixed up

Complete PG. Passing, defense, shooting, ball handeling, driving to the basket (despite his size). Not only was he the best player on the two time champion Bad Boy Pistons but people forget he was the best player and Final Four MOP on a College Champion team at Indiana as well. And that's before the 1 and done when the college game was much more competitive.
Is 1:03 legal??
Totally.
@@MrQuestiel The common offensive move known as the "jump-stop" is an up and down violation.
@@Yesquire0 I was speaking in the context of what was happening here. A self pass in the air is legal until the player returns to ground. Not sure what you're on about with up-down violation. The player never returned to the ground before the ball was released.
And so? Yes, we know that the jump-stop is one of many violations some leagues notably the NBA specifically permits as an exception to make things interesting. It is called at other orgs like the olympics and high school. So even then it's not as if "the NBA allows players to travel" among other exceptions is not known. Not sure what you're accomplishing by saying this.
@@MrQuestiel I sprinkled a bunch of complaints about the new set of rules nowadays in the NBA while scrolling through the comments. Your post made me think of the jump-stop, probably because in 2021 Thomas could have landed with the ball and jumped again to take his shot and everybody would have praised his flashy jump-stop move. I wasn't really responded to your explanation of the rules, which was spot-on.
