100 Isiah Thomas Highlights ( actually more like 200)

  • Respect to Magic, the GOAT of point guards, but if Isiah had a team laced with Hall of fame talent (like Magic or Bird did), he would have been considered the greatest point guard of all time. Consequently, in reality, he is the second best point guard of all time (Oscar Robertson wasnt even a real point guard, and dont make me laugh about Stockton, though he was great in his own right). Nevertheless, without a hall of fame squad, Isiah simply willed his team to victory by convincing his team mates that if they dug down deep enough and worked hard enough, they could make up for what they did not have (PS, Jordan watched and learned from Isiah how to do the same thing). Isiah led a team of pretty good players (Laimbeer is a center who cant dunk, but can shoot. Rodman cant shoot but can hustle. Dumars is a great shooting guard, but cant carry a team. And other good roll players) as they dominated the best players and teams in the history of the NBA (Michael Jordan's Bulls, Larry Bird's Celtics, and Magic Johnson's Lakers). Isiah's team mates may not be superstar players in their own right, but what they did have was grit, hard work ethic, determination, loyalty, desire, and were willing to go to war against ANYBODY under Isiah's leadership, and they became winners. Now, if Isiah could do what he did with the Detroit Pistons, just imagine if Zeke and Magic switched teams, and Zeke now had Worthy and Kareem to dish the ball to, while Magic had John Salley and James Edwards to pass to. There is no question that we would definitely be calling Isiah Thomas the Greatest point guard of all time. I'm just being real. Somebody had to say it.
    Anyway, Isiah, if you see this, you don't have to agree with the alternate reality that I proposed, but you will make my year by just giving me a nod for collecting so many of your highlights by myself.

    This guy beat Jordan, Bird, Magic in order to win 2 titles.
    A floor general, could score 30 when needed, or could feed Vinnie, Joe or Laimbeer at will. Best defender at Point Guard ever with Payton,
    Always the funniest guy to watch in the All Star Game.
    Brought toughness, hatred and fueled the most intense rivalries ever.
    Think about it, without this guy there wouldn't have been no Celtics-Pistons, no Bulls-Pistons and no Lakers-Pistons rivalries, which, along with C's-Lakers and C's-76ers defined the best decade in Nba history.
    I don't give a cent about what people say, it's enough to see how much respect Shaq, CWebb, Reggie, Barkley tribute him every time he talks ball.
    This guy is a Basketball Hero.

    Thank you for posting this video. I really hate when people put Stockton above or even in the same tier as Isiah and Magic at the PG position. Isiah was a floor general, a scorer, play maker, clutch, and he had that X factor killer instinct to win. He was never playing not to lose. He was always playing to win. That puts Isiah in the same boat with Magic Jordan Bird and Russell. Which is why rival pairs could not stand each other.

    • @veteranperspective3849
      @veteranperspective3849 7 лет назад +17

      André Marceau it depends on the team. I'm a huge Isaiah fan. I take Magic above him and Stockton right below. Stockton is absolutely in the same tier as Isaiah as a point guard but not as offensively or athletically talented. Stockton couldn't carry a team as the main guy like Isaiah could. Absolutely better than Stockton but I also have a lot of respect for Stockton as a point guard. Zeke was a warrior though and I LOVED his game. Man he could dribble and his midrange combined with his ability to finish at the rim was unstoppable. Not to mention he was tough as nails. How he is underrated and overlooked so much is beyond me.

    • @docm1246
      @docm1246  6 лет назад +11

      Andre Marceau, your absolutely right. Stockton was great, but he certainly couldnt carry team. Plus Stockton had the mailman, and and still couldnt put a ring on it. Thats why I included the Karl Malone revenge elbow and a few highlights of the game Isiah gave Stockton that 44 point scorching as a message to the dream team selection committee. If you lined all of the players that carried their respective teams on their backs and won titles throughout the entire history of the NBA, there will be only one short guy in that line, and everybody knows who that short guy is.

    Pound for pound zeek was the best little man to do it. I take nothing from tiny archibuad, AI Allen Iverson, John Stockton, or any of those other guys around 6 ‘1 they were great players but Zeek had dudes on their heels at all times. He cared nothing about MJ, Magic, Bird, or anyone else. He played the game to the best of his ability and he took what he wanted and that was 2 championships. Zeek took a mediocre team to the championship 3 times and won twice. He had no all stars on his team at the time but they followed his lead. Zeek was a fierce dude who didn’t back down from no one and he always rise to the occasion. He simply put fear on the opposing teams and he made his teammates play accordingly. Kevin Johnson was good but not a team player. Allen iverson a great player but lack the floor general mentality to catapult his team to the next level as did other point guards their height. Zeek was phenomenal and he played the game to win championships not friendships. All those other guys felt intimidated by him and it’s sad that men became boys when they ran up on Zeek. Detroit basketball lol. Bad boy for life sissy’s.

    Isiah did everyone, and I mean everyone that was in his way, straight dirty in the 80's climbing The NBA mountaintop to the pinnacle. Let's get one thing clear...The 80's were loaded with great teams, and Isiah sliced them and diced them all with his skill and will at one point or another along the way. Was there failure, of course there was, but when you have the inner strength and the will to be the best in the world at what you do, nothing or nobody could deny Isiah what he wanted, and that was championships.
    Moncrief, Cummings, and The Bucks. Daugherty, Price, Nance, and The Cavs. Wilkens, Rivers, Willis, and The Hawks. Ewing, Jackson, Oakley and The Knicks. Miller, Smits, Schrempf, and The Pacers. All those teams were really, really good. But they could not beat The Boston Celtics.
    There was only one team with one leader who could stand up to The Celtics, after a total failure, and beat them, and beat the rest of the field before that, and that was Isiah and The Pistons. Isiah and crew had to stave off Michael Jordan and The Bulls for three years and defeat The Celtics at the same time to earn the right to play for The World Title. And oh, Magic, Worthy, Kareem, Byron, Coop, and Rambis are waiting for you. Three straight trips to The Finals and two World Titles.
    I don't like to compare era's but I would like to see Steph Curry and The Warriors face the same kind of competition that Isiah and The Pistons did back in the day. I don't think Steph is as good as Isiah was, and I don't think The Warriors win 3 out of 4 NBA Titles. I don't know if they would even win one. Isiah was a natural born leader, and I would love to see The 88,89, or 90 Detroit Pistons vs. The Warriors or The Cavs with LeBron. Isiah and The Bad Boys would take them both out behind the woodshed and give them an ASS WHOPPIN!! PEROID!!!

    I can see why Jordan would have such a hard time with Zeke and also why Jordan would eventually beat him. Despite the height difference, they were actually very similar players. Both floor generals who could win games at will. Insanely, some would say unhealthily, competitive. Incredible levels of raw athletic talent. Superhuman ability to guard and cleanly steal the ball. Basketball fundamentals perfectionists. Masters of footwork. Post-up punishers. Lethal midrange jumpers. And in terms of how they moved and how they scored--very similar. Jordan was basically a taller and larger but slightly slower version of Zeke, which made Zeke a nightmare opponent for him--but one he would eventually be able to beat---because he was, well, taller, larger, and just as insanely competitive.
