  • This is an updated version of the best scones I had ever made, and I still cannot stop eating them!!! I originally posted this over 10 years ago, but who wants to go that far back. So, this is updated using my Ninja Air Fryer.
    I have always made scones which I always found needed eating the same day or they would go dry and heavy, so when a friend said she liked buttermilk scones I began my search for the best recipe, this is it, unless anyone can give me a better one, which I doubt as I find these light fluffy moist and really delicious, best with strawberry jam and cream.
    They keep well in an air tight box for up to a week and they freeze well. You can buy buttermilk from Tesco’s and most big supermarkets, once you have made these you will never go back to the others. If you want the recipe, pop over to my website www.susiehunter.co.uk to find this and other great recipes. www.susiehunte...

    Hi susie,
    being very interesting in trying most of you recipes on you tube, so far they have been spot on. I noticed you are using Rodda’s clotted cream and you put the jam on first. The Cornish way. I worked for Rodda’s for twenty three years and I enjoyed all my years there, and have seen many top chefs who had visited the company, and PM’s/ Royalty
    One thing I used to do was to make my own butter from clotted cream, in a hand mixer, and then adding the butter to make bread, you will have to try it.
    One other thing I used on your bass recipe was to use a grease proof basket normally for chips, but used it to cook a bass , which was freshly caught, and the skin never stuck to the basket, which help all the flavours to stay in the fish.
    Keep up the good work

    Hi Susie, I have always cooked Australian scones but your English scones look so delicious I can't wait to try in my Ninja. As usual you make everything look so easy because you explain things so well, a gifted teacher. I got excited seeing your plate and bowl. I have that exact set too...way over here in Australia. I smiled broadly when I saw yours.....I love my blue and white crockery so much.
    Cheers, 👍 🇦🇺

      Oh that is so great !! And quite funny we have the same crockery half a world away 😂. I have not had Australian scones ! My husband spent time in his youth back packing around parts of your fab country. He loved and has always wanted to take me , sadly time and money has not allowed it yet 😂😂

    The scones looked amazing, although not what you want to see on a Friday evening when all you have in the fridge is a yoghurt!
    You should considered the Cosori Dual Blaze air frye, which is what I have, as it has dual elements (top and bottom), so it cooks very evenly. Love the channel!

    Hi Susie, only lately found your channel. I love your approach and content. I love to bake scones, so quick and easy but haven’t tried them in my Ninja. Lol, needless to say, I’m getting some Buttermilk on my next shopping trip. I do normally use buttermilk in my oven scones and find they keep much longer. Best wishes Barbara.

I hardly ever turn my big oven on now which was why I bought an air fryer 😂 . Hope your scones don’t disappoint we loved them xxxx

    The scones looked lovely Susie, I could have eaten one of them myself. Hehe. Hope your keeping well. I think John will be wanting more in the future. Hehe. I would cook the same as you. I don’t have a ninja I have the vortex the largest size one with a single basket. You can cook a whole chicken in there no problem , and it’s so juicy. Like the way they cook more so than an oven.

      @cookingwithsusie  Год назад

      Hi Karen , I bought my granddaughter the Vortex and she loves hers , I love mine but I do find it limiting as it is small and I never thought I would use it as much as I do 😂😂😂. Thank you for being so supportive ❤️xxx

      @@cookingwithsusie well to be honest I was the same. I have so many things in my cupboard I brought used once and that was it. I have just brought my grandson a tower air fryer, haven’t given it to him yet. Hehe that has a large internal capacity.. our eldest son has the top of the range ninja. But apart it gives more named options it doesn’t really cook much different and still has the two baskets. Their sins have left home so just the two of them , but I think they would have like to also have a larger tray for some things.I also keep this one as well. Pleased your granddaughter likes the vortex, I am very happy with mine. I had John buy me it as Christmas, have hardly used my oven since. Hehe. So maybe for once a good buy hehr

      I agree with you that all the air fryers do seem to perform well and cook the same , I only got the ninja because when we were looking for one it was then the only one with two draws and I liked that idea . I was looking the other day at air fryers , I cannot believe how many different ones there are and they seem to do loads of things !!!I will be shopping around for my next buy 😂😂 xxx

    May I ask why you don’t use the trivet in your drawers.

    • @cookingwithsusie
      @cookingwithsusie  Год назад +1

      Hi, good question, I thought seeing as I normally bake these on a metal tray in my big oven I would take the trivet out and also I did not want the base of the scones baking into the trivet , they are quiet moist when you put them in . Could be wrong though I am always learning xxx

    They looked good. I don’t mind both plain and fruit but with butter, jam and cream Why did you choose the roast setting and not the bake setting, as I thought the bake setting would have cooked slower? Thanks again to you both for this video.

    • @cookingwithsusie
      @cookingwithsusie  Год назад +1

      Hi Dorinda , thanks for the comment, on my Ninja there is no bake setting we have to use the roast but you can turn the temperature up or down on it , the buttermilk recipe like a hot oven when I use my large oven but I think in this small ninja the heat is very direct , I found the second batch cooked better at 180 . We ate the rest of them with Jam and cream too , delicious xxx
