I think instead of black and grey furniture for the nightstands and table you should get plain wood...maybe light wood. I feel like it would help warm up the space!
Agreed and you could change out the draw knobs for something colorful of stylish to match your vibe. Check Amazon. I got Starfish ones, since my apt is beach vibe.
i know pink is your vibe and although it’s a cute idea, this apartment seems more modern and mature, incorporate light or dark wood in the room and the backsplash in the kitchen is a beautiful green that would clash with anything that isn’t like black or wood colored, i say drop the K decoration and i wouldn’t hang anything on the backsplash
(Advice from a graduate architect) -White bedding is a must with 2 pink blush pillows and 1 darker colour in the centre but stacked evenly (not thrown) to make it look intentional and classy, you could even have a pink throw if you’re wanting to keep colour. -timber (like a light timber) nightstands would bring some warmth to the space and make it look less cheap -The dresser on the wall works but you could also put it in one of your closets to free up space for a sofa and coffee table. -I also think the small round table might work with 2 better dining chairs. I’m thinking two modern upholstered dining chairs. -I would also put the mirror on the opposite wall so when you walk into the space it automatically looks bigger! -Mounting your tv is a great idea! -I would condense your vanity to the bathroom space and use the dining as a office space! Then you have less furniture (no desk, desk chair, chest of drawers thats visible) and a more multi-functional space that feels airy and less cluttered 😊
something i've been thinking about watching your vlogs is that because you have white walls and white furniture, you might want to look into getting darker/more colourful accent pieces that will give your space more dimension. everything being white can really take away from the potential of a room. maybe a darker couch, throw blanket, pillows, lamp, wall art, etc.
I don’t think the desk in the closet is a good use of space. Especially if you are keeping the other desk. I also agree with others that you should do wood side tables as opposed to the black.
I would refrain from any stove or kitchen decor - it can be a fire issue and it will just get dirty and greasy right away. Also instead of all white furniture, I would consider adding some natural wood pieces, like maybe swap out the low white dresser for one with more height and natural wood. It balances it out and makes the space feel warmer
I feel like having two desks, a love seat, a dining table with chairs, and your corner chair is gonna be waaaay too much. Might need to sacrifice some furniture items so it’s not too cluttered
Agreed. One person in a studio does not need that much furniture. Less is more sometimes. I live in a 400sq ft studio myself and my dining table is also my wfh desk and it works very well
The dresser could go by the window to make like a faux bay window sitting if you get a cushion for it and then the pink chair could go in the corner where the copper lamp is and then it’s extra living room seating and could also be a cozy nook and you could get a skinny media console for extra storage maybe but I like the other way as well where the dresser is the media console and the pink chair literally looks so comfy
Listening to you talking about the dishwasher made my chuckle a little bit. I've never not used finish. I thought it was a normal thing. 😂 but no its not the dishwashers brand. They sell it everywhere. And yes it works!
I think the whole white/gray/black/blush tone is kind of outdated "glam"...I agree with the other comments, it'd be nice to warm up your space. I love lots of natural wood, cream, rust, and some grays. That + some texture would really elevate your space! You should find inspo photos on Pinterest and share them on here - I bet people would be great at sending specific recommendations that way!
I also agree with comments saying just because you have space doesn't mean you need to use it. cramming a ton of stuff on your countertops and furniture in your room is going to make things feel super crowded and cheapen the vibe
Kristee, make sure you check out Facebook Marketplace! I know that transport is harder in NYC, but you can always subway there and then Uber home w furniture. You'll get nice stuff for very cheap, and I'm also a big fan of the reusability/recycling of it rather than spending to get something new that you might not keep for too long. My partner and I furnished our entire place with multiple couches, armchairs, a new mattress, TV, coffee table and Ikea bed frame for like $300 total. TVs are also being sold ALL the time!
Agreed!!! I didn’t even realize what rinse aid was until I moved out on my own. I’ve been using the dishwasher for YEARS at home and had no clue my mom put rinse aid in there 😅
Watch erynelizabethb’s TikTok on her apartment transformation. It’s basically the same layout as your apartment and she transformed it to look AMAZING and went viral
I don’t understand why people keep them sitting out? Why doesn’t she just get the appliances she needs and keep them in a cabinet? I hate a cluttered counter too so i keep everything in cabinets. Even though i use my air fryer daily i don’t want to see it all day
You could get a couch with an actual colour instead of greay, something earthy and fairly neutral but still as a pop of colour (like a teal or a nice dusty rose or even a powdery beige). It will make the space more interesting for the eye and therefore make the space seem a little bigger.
I feel like the chair next to the window by your bed would make it look cluttered over there. Plus you wouldn’t be able to use the drawer on that side really, can you put it in the opposite side of the wall that it’s on? You could look into incorporating more wood tones and maybe a bunch of plants for the green accent. I know Lindsay Huges just got a cute loveseat for her office that would work perfectly if it came in a more neutral color.
If you get another kitchen appliance like a toaster I would def store it in the cabinet... too many things like appliances look so cluttered on a kitchen counter. Leave the counter space clean and clear of Unnecessary stuff!
The best advice I can give you when furniture shopping in NYC is Facebook marketplace. That’s mostly how I furnished mine last summer! You can find really amazing items at a steal basically. Plus way better for the environment that purchasing new.
you should see if Article will do a brand deal with you for furniture. I know i've seen them work with a ton of other creators and their furniture is so nice!
I literally feel like this is OUR NY apartment lol. So excited to see it come together. Sofa Mania has decent furniture for cheap. I mean, it is cheap so it’s not the best but it’s an option! An IKEA Hemnes would vibe really well too
My apartment dishwasher has the same sign for the drying liquid - get it, it actually does work! And you only have to add more like every 100 washes or something, so I got a tiny bottle. Worth it!
My suggestions :) I think you should utilize the space by the entry way as your dining space. I think that you could get a small l shape couch and place against the wall, and place the TV where your vanity is so that you can watch from couch and bed. You could also get a nice coffee table and rug to add. Also, a nice headboard will bring it all together. The mirror placement is great.
This exactly! Then scoot the bed a bit more towards the bathroom wall with only 1 nightstand, and get a larger desk to sit against the big window. You can get an extendable TV mount so your can rotate it towards your couch/bed.
I'm soooo excited for you! I've never had the desire to live in NYC or much interest in NYC at all, but your vlogs make make wanna visit! You're the only vlogger whose videos I never skip. It's so cool seeing a young woman go through this stage in her life. I'm so happy for you and excited for your future.
I know you like that pink neon sign and all but...it seems more dorm like and young. I’d want my space to be a little more grown up with art and macramés and things like that instead
Love the new place! If it were me, I would not even get a dinning room table. Since you want to optimize your square footage, you live alone and you have a desk if you need a table top. When I lived alone (all through my 20s), I had a dining table and rarely EVER used it. I used my coffee table 99% of the time to eat and the table just collected my purse and whatever else I sat down. Save the space so you have more room for a mini living space.
Get the IKEA Friheten sectional sleep couch! It's small enough for the small space you have, has storage in the chaise, has a pullout option for guests to sleep on, comes in gray, and it only $600!
I use finish for my dishwasher packs and I use the rinse aid! My dishwasher has a spot to fill up the liquid so you only have to put it in every few washes. It’s great though, highly recommend.
I would recommend some shelves/prints/plants on whatever wall will be behind your desk so that your background for Zoom meetings, etc. are really nice. Even if you don't decorate the rest of the apartment very much, I would just focus on what your co-workers or interviewees etc. will be seeing for a good while!
Sounds like so much grey and white... have you thought about bringing in some warm colour like navy or forest green? Will make it seem so much more cosy. Warm wood furniture, like bed side table or coffee table, would be so nice too.
The dishwasher in my apartment has a heat dry setting that is basically a sauna? lol there's still some collected water on the dishes but they're not dripping wet when I pull them out
I would say just get a nice comfy couch/sectional and a nice coffee table and no dining area! I have a coffee table from ikea (I also live in Brooklyn ❤️) that has a lift top and I use that as an extra desk area and dining table. It is the TRULSTORP coffee table and I love it for extra storage
Something I've seen a few RUclipsr's living in NYC do, or living in smaller bachelor sized units, is they buy a privacy curtain! So you could put it up at the end of your bed & have the couch up against it. SO it gives the illusion of two rooms / a wall separating the bedroom and living room! Just an idea I thought id share :) Congrats on the new place!! xo
Same. I actually don’t mind doing the dishes! Makes you feel productive and so satisfying afterwards having a sparkly clean and empty sink. Put a bit of music on and have a kitchen dance!! 😁😉😉💕
Yes it's works and the dishes look clear ,no foggy look especially the glass things. Also Finish isn't a " personal " brand. It's a big company and it's very well known at least where I live. What they say is doing: It prevents water spots and streaking on glasses, dishes and cutlery. Finish Rinse Aid, Shine & Dry gives brilliant cleaning with special care for your expensive dishes every time. It works with your detergent to rinse away stubborn leftover food, spots and leaves dishes, glasses and utensils sparkling.
Kristee! I'm moving from Downtown Brooklyn to Fort Greene in a similar building next month (I pretty sure I toured the one you just moved into 😅) But seeing you arrange and unpack is making me SO excited!! Can't wait to see how yours turns out! Welcome to the neighborhood!!
My dishwasher has a dry setting. But you need to leave them in there for a while. If i open it as soon as the machine is done it will let all of the heat out & they wont dry. Also rinse aid is just to help keep soap or water marks off your dishes. Its for glass items or if you have hard water.
I've been using the finish rinse/drying aid for years, honestly hate doing dishes without it! I actually just got my sister to use it too and she was so surprised at how much it helped dry everything!
Always use the rinse aid. Not only does it help with drying, but it helps with water spots too. The finish is the best brand, IMO along with the cascade platinum dishwasher pods.
Kristee check the Drying options on your dishwasher. It looks as if your drying was not on. As for the rinse aid it’s to help with hard water and leave your dishes looking cleaner with less spots and residue on the dishes. Not necessary but does help. ETA: love your new space it is so nice and can’t wait to see how it turns out after you put everything the way you want it! 💗
Mount the tv on the wall, put the dresser in your closet. You’re working with such a small space, that will really free up some floor space. Then I’d do a slightly over sized love seat. Maybe one of those coffee end tables that almost stack, so If you have people over you can pull them out, but other wise is a small square size.. if that makes sense. 😂 For your bedroom I’d do a more natural wood for your nightstands. More timeless.
I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU 💛 i've been watching you for YEARS, and i've always felt tied to you. i lived in OC around the same time as you did, and i always thought if we had met we'd be friends (i've commented this before on your vids, lol). your perspective, your goals, everything about you is so refreshing in the youtube space. it's cool to see an educated woman that has a life/career outside of youtube. even though you grew up an "influencer", you're more multi-faceted and i love that! i feel like you're my kurt vonnegut loving soul sister and anyways i'm just so excited for this season of your life. congrats on the new place, the new job, and the future ahead of you! :)
Kristee, you should get a big ZZ plant for that corner! They are SUPER hardy and will survive your neglect 😂😂 you water them like once a month, and they just look so cool and sculptural in any setting. You can get a big healthy one at Lowe’s for $30 in a big gallon pot.
YES TO THE RINSE-AID! It makes a world of a difference!! You don’t necessarily need that specific brand, I often find myself getting generic! LOVE the views! So happy for you!
Yes to the rinse aid! The finish brand of rinse aid is the best I have found. It sounds funny that you need a liquid to get dry dishes but it really works!
For getting the dishes drier in the dishwasher, run it at night before you go to bed but early enough that you'll still be awake when it finishes. Then, pull out the trays all the way and empty out any containers or anything that flipped over and filled with a ton of water (then put them back on the racks), and then everything in the dishwasher will be dry and ready to put away in the morning!
I love every idea you have! When I first seen your last vlog that is exactly how I envisioned it! It’s going to look so cute!🥰 congrats on the new apartment Kristee!
Hey girl!! I have some ideas for you in terms of decorating... -Use the dresser as a console, or like others have said, put the dresser in a closet to make the space cleaner. You'll want something under the TV, though -Ditch a coffee table, instead get a small table that tucks under the couch and is kind of like a side table which also allows you to work at the couch (you can get acrylic ones that are clear so it gives the illusion of having more space) -I think it's going to look strange to have the couch pushed up against the back of the bed, I might suggest moving it towards the wall to create a "living room vibe" -Dining space is tricky... I'd suggest having a "fold down" table if you want to streamline the look of the room. If it were me, I might ditch the desk and get a fold down table (Brooke Miccio has one like this) and put floating shelves above if you need more space. Use the bathroom as your vanity. This way you can put the desk up when you're not using it, and it can also serve as a dining table if you have people over. You could store fold-out chairs in a closet (even keep the chair you have there now) -Use FB marketplace if you want to sell things! You might want to consider selling the chair, the desk, and/or the circular table. This would more than cover the cost of other items! You can also find some great decor pieces there. added bonus is that it's way more sustainable than ordering from a site like amazon (less packaging, promoting the used furniture cycle)! This way, the only items you would have would be the bed, the side tables, the couch and console. This will keep it from seeming cluttered and make the space seem airier!
Finish is the best. I have the same dishwasher as you and it wasn't drying properly regardless. It might have an issue with the filter. I would call the office and have someone come look at it or swap it out because your dishes should be dry.
less is more. putting furniture all on one wall is going to be it look really busy and cluttered. use that wall for only your TV and dresser. use your desk as a table to eat especially if your gonna be home a lot working. the less stuff you, the more space you’ll have.
yeah, rinse aid works really well, a bunch of brands sell it cause most dishwashers need/use it. It lasts a long time too, when ur running out there's normally an indicator light that tells when u need to refill it :)
My dishwasher used to do the same thing and I bought the finish jet dry stuff. I didn't see much of a difference so I started running my dishwasher before bed then when it was finished I left the drawers out and open so they would dry overnight 🤣 I'm lazy if you can't tell 🤣
Rinse agent prevents spots on glasses and repels water from your dishes. A dishwasher repair guy told me if I use tablet detergent, to put it in the bottom of the dishwasher rather than the little door, too! And Google your dishwasher to find the filter and clean it every once in awhile. It’s crazy how gross it can get!
If you keep the mirror there, Amazon has tons of wall stick on lights that you could put maybe above the mirror for better lighting that you can use while taking selfie’s!
FYI!! For the dishwasher, the heat helps them dry so make sure you keep it closed unless you need something in there then get it out and dry by hand and then close it and they should be dried out for the most part from the residual heat. And he's Jet Dry is the brand we use, it helps the dishes dry faster but also the water here sucks so it helps with water residue stains!
(Advice from a graduate architect)
-White bedding is a must with 2 pink blush pillows and 1 darker colour in the centre but stacked evenly (not thrown) to make it look intentional and classy, you could even have a pink throw if you’re wanting to keep colour.
-timber (like a light timber) nightstands would bring some warmth to the space and make it look less cheap
-The dresser on the wall works but you could also put it in one of your closets to free up space for a sofa and coffee table.
-I also think the small round table might work with 2 better dining chairs. I’m thinking two modern upholstered dining chairs.
-I would also put the mirror on the opposite wall so when you walk into the space it automatically looks bigger!

-I would condense your vanity to the bathroom space and use the dining as a office space! Then you have less furniture (no desk, desk chair, chest of drawers thats visible) and a more multi-functional space that feels airy and less cluttered 😊
I think adding some earth tones would add some coziness to the space-maybe on the couch/the couch itself. Congratulations on the new apartment!
something i've been thinking about watching your vlogs is that because you have white walls and white furniture, you might want to look into getting darker/more colourful accent pieces that will give your space more dimension. everything being white can really take away from the potential of a room. maybe a darker couch, throw blanket, pillows, lamp, wall art, etc.
💯 agree. And more textures. Personally, I like more warm wood and plants 🪴 but I can appreciate that not everyone likes wood
I wouldn't recommend putting decor like that near the stove, it's either going to get filthy from food splashes or it'll catch fire!
Dresser in the closet? It would free up valuable floor space tucked away.
i did it once in my college apartment, I was really short on space at the time, city living
Mine is in my closet!! I love it
I agree! Her dresser is taking up so much space where it is now and could really open up the room
“I think I’m going to get a small couch, maybe a loveseat”, maybe inflatable.
The K definitely gives me sorority vibes, idk if it looks mature anywhere in the apartment. Maybe get rid of it?
I wouldn’t get rid of it because she has memories but I would probably put it away in storage or in my closet.
LOL same i would store it somewhere else
Cloffice material 😂
i agree
I don’t think the desk in the closet is a good use of space. Especially if you are keeping the other desk. I also agree with others that you should do wood side tables as opposed to the black.

It does sound cluttered.

Look on FB marketplace especially in the city. You can find like west elm and other nice pieces for under $100-200

Maybe a different color scheme so that it’s different from your old place
Having a mirror directly behind your WFH station seems like a bad idea and please don’t crowd the area next to your bed with that big chair 😭😭
Also I definitely think a headboard would make the bed look much more grand and help that big wall look less empty.
Yes needs a headboard!!!!

Rinse aid makes a huge difference. Also use the heated dry setting along with it and they'll come out super dry. They sell it on Amazon
AGREE 100% with this. rinse aid is KEY!

From a person that hates counter clutter...don’t get a toaster that only toasts if you have an air fryer that does that and many other things.
Totally agree, just cos there is open counter space doesn’t mean you should fill it! Unless the toaster can live in a cupboard. 😁
I don’t understand why people keep them sitting out? Why doesn’t she just get the appliances she needs and keep them in a cabinet?

The Finish Jet Dry is amazing!!! Definitely add it to your dishwasher
I just recently started using the rinse aid stuff and I can actually tell a bit of a difference. I was a bit skeptical but it has helped a little!
hmmm ive grown up never using a dishwasher so now I still just handwash my dishes!!! Also it helps that Im just one person so its not a lot to clean
Same. I actually don’t mind doing the dishes! Makes you feel productive and so satisfying afterwards having a sparkly clean and empty sink. Put a bit of music on and have a kitchen dance!! 😁😉😉💕
@@MandaisManda same!! I usually put on a podcast while doing the dishes and I don’t even notice that I’m cleaning!!
You might get splashes on that crochet thing if you place it behind the stove though!
Jet dry does work but so excited for you in this apartment!!!
Dang it. I was hoping you'd ditch the ikea furniture. Oh well.
For your bedroom I’d do a more natural wood for your nightstands. More timeless.
Your upgrade is inspiring
Omg ❤️❤️😭
Kristee, you should get a big ZZ plant for that corner! They are SUPER hardy and will survive your neglect 😂😂 you water them like once a month, and they just look so cool and sculptural in any setting. You can get a big healthy one at Lowe’s for $30 in a big gallon pot.
I recently rediscovered your channel and I’m obsessed! I’ve been loving your videos lately and they make me feel very inspired 💕
The amount of closets in your place is outstanding!!! Congrats on the apartment and the view is awesome. Love from 🇨🇦
You can also do navy blue side tables instead of black and that would tie perfectly with the pink and grey tones!
YES TO THE RINSE-AID! It makes a world of a difference!! You don’t necessarily need that specific brand, I often find myself getting generic!
LOVE the views! So happy for you!
Love your energy in this video!!
I would never want to leave this place! Those windows are so dreamy!!
leave the dresser by the bed..separate bed/living room..
We have a Bosch dishwasher and definitely recommend Rinse-Aid!
Jet dry does work. Also make sure you’re using the drying setting on the dishwasher.
You'll want something under the TV, though
-Ditch a coffee table, instead get a small table that tucks under the couch and is kind of like a side table which also allows you to work at the couch (you can get acrylic ones that are clear so it gives the illusion of having more space)
-I think it's going to look strange to have the couch pushed up against the back of the bed, I might suggest moving it towards the wall to create a "living room vibe"
-Dining space is tricky... You could store fold-out chairs in a closet (even keep the chair you have there now)
-Use FB marketplace if you want to sell things!
Reach out to article and see whether they can provide you a sofa and living room furniture.
less is more. putting furniture all on one wall is going to be it look really busy and cluttered. use that wall for only your TV and dresser. use your desk as a table to eat especially if your gonna be home a lot working. the less stuff you, the more space you’ll have.
yeah, rinse aid works really well, a bunch of brands sell it cause most dishwashers need/use it. It lasts a long time too, when ur running out there's normally an indicator light that tells when u need to refill it :)
I think you should put some wall art in the walk way area / and a headboard would make bed look more grand. Maybe art over the headboard.
My dishwasher used to do the same thing and I bought the finish jet dry stuff. I didn't see much of a difference so I started running my dishwasher before bed then when it was finished I left the drawers out and open so they would dry overnight 🤣 I'm lazy if you can't tell 🤣
I honestly just love hanging out with you! More please 💗💗
I love using the drying liquid product. I just started using it a few months ago and tbh I noticed a difference.
I know you loved your other apt but I looooove this one for you! So much more airy and spacious.
Kristee - I would reccomend getting a rug for under your bed and using the one you have for your dresser/tv stand area to create sections of the room!
just an idea but if u move the bed so its like horizontal to the wall it could free up a lot of floor space and make a cool layout!
That view is just amazing
