- The “He Gets Us” ad campaign is spending $100,000,000 to make Jesus the most popular brand in the world, including Super Bowl ads. Is this money well spent, or are they peddling a false Jesus? In this video, Todd Friel shares his perspective on the matter as a Bible-believing Christian.
Wretched TV and Radio are hosted by Todd Friel. On the show, you will see and hear live witnessing encounters, discussions of tough theological issues, and Christian commentary on current events. We might even make you laugh.

You don’t need a buddy you Need a Savior!!!
Jesus is a friend to the repentant sinner and as such, He is my Savior. More than that, Jesus is Lord.
@@jeffshimkus9437I totally agree but the problem with these ads is that they’re not telling the entire story of who Jesus really is and what He’s done for us by providing us Salvation
Not just need A savior, but THE Savior
A savior who becomes friends with you
This is why it is allowed to be aired and promoted. They wouldn't allow this if it is about repentance and turning away from sin and turning to Jesus for Salvation. It has to fit their woke agenda of false love, peace and acceptance.
You are very RIGHT!! Great comment.
Or would it? 🤔
You have that so right!
Spot on!
They spent millions on those ads and didn't even deliver the Gospel.
Satan doesn't mind spilling some coin to divert people to the broad way that leads to destruction.
Such a lost opportunity!
They never wanted to or intended to deliver the Gospel.
I'm not impressed with their website that doesn't get into the gospel, but you could ask how they're going to deliver the Gospel well in a 60 second commercial. Somebody would be complaining about what was left out.
@@daviddensmore2606This is true. Someone would be able to pick at it, regardless of who's camp. . But, if is as close to the Biblical gospel and real Jesus as possible the world would be the only ones really mad and that would be as expected. The reason it was allowed to be Aired as it is... 👍🏼
If you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one.
Blasphemy is worthy of hell. I think shallow cliche's are almost just as bad because the weight of this travesty is not addressed. "He gets me" is demonic.
Very good comment. Someone once told me another similar bit of wisdom: "If you don't stand against anything, then you'll fall for everything. We need to stand against this phony campaign.
The devil gets us. He's not for us, though.

Yep!!
Definitely not.

Yes, the devil knows that we're all selfish & want to live a selfish life & that's exactly what he 👺👹 offers & trips us up with ....
In an early commercial, they tried to make Jesus similar as an illegal alien by saying he was a refugee. They lost me at that point.
Yes I remember seeing that one and being so stunned I looked up their website to be sorely disappointed. 😑
Wait, but his family didn’t follow the law. The king made an order and they didn’t follow it. They were refugees. But your political view won’t allow you to see this
@@remyisred What law did they break? None.
I saw that too and was immediately like, "what the....". Their ads are a joke.
The goal of this campaign is to get people connected to churches. So I think he best thing we can do is get our good churches to join so that if people do go to the site, they actually can be connected to solid biblical churches and not woke ones.
It's great that He gets us but, if we don't get Him, we are lost!!
The "He gets us" campaign is the antonym of the Jonathan Edwards sermon, "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." "He gets us" is not a sufficient message. The Gospel is sufficient and should not be modified or watered-down.
I’m SO glad you chimed in on this. I was really hoping you would. My church is doing the “He Gets Us” series, but these commercials have always made me uneasy.
If your church is doing that kind of thing”series”, you might want to rethink whether you’re in a good church….
Yes, RUN!
Yes, run run run. Amen
I'd be super suspicious of any church doing this series. The excuse that it's so watered down and doesn't call to repentance is that is pre-evangelism. The evangelism part is supposed to be the role of the church. These ads seem to be mostly just social justice.
@@saintejeannedarc9460 I’m waiting to see how the sermons are constructed. Our church has always been very Biblically based so I’m hoping this was a mis-step that is remedied through the message.
More important than Him getting me, is the scary scary reality that He knows the very intentions of our hearts and the thoughts behind those intentions.
Weep and mourn that the one true Holy God is looking right into our hearts and plead with Him to be merciful.
Thank you for bringing this to light Todd. You may have corrected thousands of minds.
11:08 in the PM and it is my bedtime. Why? Because I misread your first sentence as, Thank you for bringing this to fight, Todd, instead of, Thank you for bringing this to light, Todd.
I was like, ???
😂😂😂😂😂
I actually love the actual comment much better.
Well, maybe tens and tens of minds...
Yup. I'm one of them.
The goal of this campaign is to get people connected to churches. So I think he best thing we can do is get our good churches to join so that if people do go to the site, they actually can be connected to solid biblical churches and not woke ones.
And those who have gained this information can now correct others’ minds
I'm so thankful the "he was a refugee" billboard was placed right outside my office and I figured out the agenda right away
They had/have a "he was a refugee" billboard? Yikes. I'm super late to this party, just hearing about the campaign now, through videos like this. I didn't see much wrong w/ it at first, but there is no gospel shown on the website, or call to repentance, and that's disturbing.
I saw an atheist post under Gavin Ortlund's video on this, that this is all about a political agenda. Even though he is an atheist, the guy found the videos kind of cagey and offensive to him too and didn't think they were very Christian.
Wow Todd! They are promoting a Jesus of their own making! I knew something was wrong when I saw their slogan! Thank you
Do some serious study of doctrine. Hint: that word appears 53 times in the King James Bible, and only 8 in the ISV, 6 in the NSV, so you can probably see why so many pew-sitters are ignorant of how important it is, and even WHAT it is.
@@horseman4now it had more use archaically, most likely. I'm sure the word "saying" occurs hundreds more times in the KJV, but that doesn't mean the KJV is more accurate or that "saying" is an important biblical concept.
The emphasis was on "us", and in their graphic they presented it as JesUS. That's the wrong focus. If it isn't what Billy Graham would say about Jesus, it's probably not Jesus at all!
We just mailed a support check to Wretched because of this video. Thank you Todd & Team.

@beaberean3286 you are forgetting that The enemy is a snake. Your very nieve my dear. Wise as a serpent, gentle as a dove. There ushering in the anti Christ, and the beast. Do you not know what time we're living in. Awake out of your sleep. This campaign is designed to put people asleep. Broad is the way that leadeth to destruction. What HE tells his disciples, first thing is "DO NOT BE DECIEVED" the goal is to do just that. All they need is the real gospel. 💯

Todd you are spot on! This Campaign is about a "Do What Thou Wilt" way of living. And, where does that come from? Right...Hell.
It is the first words of the Satanic Bible.
Excellent point!
Jesus was clear, concise, and absolute about who He is and why He came. You can accept Him or reject Him but people need to stop trying to read their agenda into His actions and intent. Jesus is not a mascot; He is our Savior and King.
2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears.

There is a difference between Godly repentance and Judas repentance.

Isiah 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
I had to ask myself, would Billy Graham make an ad like that about Jesus??? NO WAY! So then something is wrong. The Scripture says to test the spirits (1 John 4:1).

Anyone who is serious about their faith and Biblical authority understands-right out of the gate-that He Gets Me is the social gospel 2.0 (Woke Edition). One simply can’t reach the realization of godly sorrow without understanding God’s fully righteous wrath.
“The bow of God’s wrath is bent, and the arrow made ready on the string, and justice bends the arrow at your heart and strains the bow; and it is nothing but the mere pleasure of God-and that of an angry God without any promise or obligation at all-that keeps the arrow one moment from being made drunk with your blood.”

@@dongyaolin655 Greatly appreciate your well considered, dead on the mark reply. All things, down to the last blade of grass, exist and fall under the dominion of our God's sovrereign authority. For many, many years a very large percentage of American Christians have carried the false notion that the historic greatness our nation was inextricably essential to God's eternal plan. Aiways a foolish and misguided belief. We now live in a grotesquely degraded and rebellious society. We are now witnessing in real time a "leadership class" that has been given up to it's depravity. An extremely bitter harvest seems likely if not certain. Apart from God's amazing grace, we and the nations, great and small, are nothing more than dust in the wind.
Right on. Well said.
It's so sad, and very scarry, that these "Churches" are comforting sin, and causing so many to die, with absolutely no attachment to salvation...

@@beaberean3286 you may not have watched the whole video which includes the Catholic “Church”
@@davidmcgrath6507 I did. This is my point....why should we stay away from this. If they are creating a national church directory, shouldn't we want our biblically based churches be on that list so that it's not just Catholics and woke churches?
You see my point here?
You’re not alone! As a worship leader, I can endure some of the touchy freely songs that are biblically sound (but repetitive and cookie cutter in almost every way) but this is just heresy.
the problem with deception is that there is just enough truth to throw someone off. Many are totally fine with Jesus, as long as He is not God, not Holy, and did not die on the cross for the sins of the world. Praise God His spirit gives you discernment. Much needed in the church today.
The best description I have to the He Gets Us is a bait and switch. They make Jesus look cool, trendy, and "love is love" is the hallmark trait they emphasize. What will happen is this: a handful of people MIGHT be drawn in by this shallow, half-truth presentation, but when they encounter concepts like the depravity of mankind, the fallen and sinful nature of all humanity, the divinity and exclusivity of Jesus above all other false god(s) and religions, and the fact that being a Christian means you will be despise, persecuted, and rejected by the world, they will quickly lose interest and fall away.
.
To borrow from the parable Jesus told: HGU is basically sowing the seed along the rocky soil and among the thorns: yes, some may receive it for a short time, but when the full message of what it means to "take up your cross and follow me" and "if you love me, you will keep my commandments", and the trials and tests of life come, they will wither and be choked off.
I remember that Justin Peters did a number of really good breakdowns about this campaign around October or so last year. I highly recommend looking that up for a very sober look into this.
@Diane Feack but Justin Peters is a Christian? In fact he has made several videos with Todd Friel on this very youtube channel. Unless there is another Justin Peters that you're referring to, I don't know what your objection is.
Imagine if they proclaimed the true Gospel with all that money.
Answer is: nobody would listen. There’s already billboards and ads about “you’re going to hell you wretched sinner”. You know what happens? People either ignore them outright, or it pushes them further from Christianity.
@@Router-we2ehBecause most people are simply incapable of realizing the truth as to how wicked and depraved us humans are in the eyes of a thrice holy God. Hence they don't see the need for a Savior.
Thank you Todd, I was going to do a reflection for my church on those commercials but was so unsure about it. This affirmed so much of what I had already planned to say and gave me confidence that I'm not the only one who sees the errors in this.
I was surely doubting it all myself. It was very shallow.
@@samuelbrock4064 Thats putting it lightly. Its blasphemous! It is demonic.
@@gigiis526 well I didn’t watch the game, so I never saw the whole thing…only on news!
You’re not alone. This campaign is not biblically sound.
One excellent way to discern is to ask WHO IS JESUS? If there is no mention of deity or Christ crucified for sins...if it isn't something Billy Graham would say about Jesus...then, it's a "different" Jesus. The social Gospel is not new. It started showing up in the 90's when I was a young-in-faith Christian. I was bothered by it but so un-sure. It really did sound right and I struggled to discern. There was harsh criticism then, which was strong, Biblically, and I wrestled in my mind trying to reconcile the two. Many more years down the road, the Spirit grew within me and I began to see more clearly. The Scripture says to "test the spirits".
The meme level on this channel has somehow managed to skyrocket without diminishing the message. 11/10

@@beaberean3286 Unlikely any conservative Gospel teaching church would want to risk being associated with the campaign. People are smart enough to go to a website to check a place out prior to visiting. Their GOAL (as you hinted) is to get people connected with woke churches that will help indoctrinate against the true Christ. They count on people (especially the younger crowd) to not know their Bible... That makes preaching teaching and evangelism all the more necessary and hopefully some will turn and embrace the real Jesus.
@@kristenspencer9751 my intent was not to say the creators want people to attend woke churches, I just don't think they realize that's what they're as campaign is doing. I've seen the billboard ad behind home plate the Chicago White Sox baseball stadium that read, "Jesus believed in his teammates, too. " I thought it was alright, except for the lower case, "h" in "his." Your video has changed my mind.

@@beaberean3286I think you are a shill for the marketing group pushing this false gospel.
This is the second time I've seen (so far) you post this lie.
You are recommending that churches align themselves with this deceitful campaign.
I won't rebuke you, but the Lord will.
Same motive as Jesus Revolution movie
I got a promo email from some involved in these projects that this an upgrade /rebranding of Jesus.
"But The Spirit Explicity Says that in Later Times Some will Fall away [Apostasize] from The Faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and Doctrines of Demons" I Timothy 4:1
Todd, YOU get us, JESUS saves us
So much work and so little time. No excuses so back to the grind. Todd Friel and Wretched Radio bringing the HEAT of Gospel truth to 'HE GETS US' y'all. Nobody does it better.
The only time I saw He Gets Us is behind ball players during baseball games. I thought it might be a good thing. Thanks for the insight.
Jesus would say: "yeah, but they don't 'get' ME!
Great stuff Todd and team, as always..!
Thanks for the love, Stephen!

Thank you, Todd! I never did have a good feeling about these ads.
Thank you! I always felt icky about this campaign! I don't know if the "He gets us" people ever actually read things Jesus talked about... um Hell was one of them...
Great content per usual. Side note of encouragement, whoever edits your videos is doing a fantastic job.
Excellent Todd. Thanks for what you and your team do.😊
I knew those commercials were a farce without even seeing them.
He will rule the nations with a rod of iron … that doesn’t sound warm and fuzzy.
I didn’t even have to look into this company to know that I wouldn’t agree. Just seeing the ads on my way home was enough.
I dislike this ad campaign. Thanks for exposing it. You have done a great job of loving rebuke. I have rewritten this comment a few times because this campaign makes me angry. I agree with everything you stated. And all I can say is thank you for what you do, Todd and the wretched team.
I always had a hunch that there was some deviation from plain truth from early on.
Wonderful ! Thank you WRETCHED 💪🏼🔥†❤
Thank you🙏🏻
Thank you sir. This was spot on.
Thanks for looking into it, Pastor Friel.
I can't say I've seen the ads, but I'm occasionally aware they exist.
It's good for somebody with some qualifications to test the teachers.
"Let the little children come to me, unless a Woman chooses to murder them. That's their right." -Things Jesus never said
IMO....this is just man's version of what he wants God to be. This ad is influenced by the god of this world. I agree with you 100%. Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world....any true follower of Jesus Christ will see right through this false gospel...
The first ad I saw I had red flags waving.
Todd keep going strong for our Lord do not apologize lol.
WOMEN'S EQUALITY IS SUPPORTED BY JESUS.
HE IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY LORD AND SAVIOUR.
Women are equally in need of a Devine Saviour, because WOmen are equally sinners.
Equality.
That sounds great and everything, but that's not the kind of "women's equality" that the campaign is promoting.
That's not the message the campaign is promoting. It's not promoting a Savior who snatches men and women from eternity separated from God. It's not promoting repentance at all.
Thank for sharing this 😊
Way to bring the receipts, Todd! Spidey sense’s always up around these ads.
I'm glad I found this video. I was wondering what it was that felt off about the "he gets us " campaign.
"Do Not think that I came to bring Peace on The Earth; I Did Not come to bring Peace, but A Sword.....Matthew 10:34...
Jesus didn't come to bring peace, but a sword. To turn family and friends against one another.
But Jesus is Love 💓 🤦♂️
I love the idea of putting Jesus‘s name up there so millions of people can see it and get curious but it doesn’t do anybody good if it’s not the real Jesus.
Beware of Sara Young’s Jesus. It sure isn’t the Jesus of the Bible calling that’s for sure.
Did you read her book to come to that conclusion? I was never interested in it, and I’ve heard arguments against it, but a friend mentioned that she recently read it and loved it. Having not read it, I didn’t think it was appropriate for me to question its value. I know the Holy Spirit has led me to answers so I trust that my friend will continue to seek.
@@username00009yes I did. I still own it for reference.
@@username00009The Jesus Calling books are so popular because the deception is subtle. I haven't read the books. I've learned from a number of sound Christians about the danger of these books. They take readings from her books and then explain what's amiss and how a different "jesus" is calling. So it's not necessary to read Sarah Young's books cover to cover to be able to refute them. The method that Sarah Young used, the idea of which came from the New Age book "God Calling", is unbiblical. Written in the first person, as if Jesus did speak those words. But He didn't. Therefore the books can be rejected on that basis alone. Justin Peters gives a very good explanation of why we should stay away from those books in his seminar series called Clouds Without Water. That is just one of many Christian resources on this. I've benefited greatly from them.
@@karenkitchen8572Agreed! A friend gave me that book a couple of years ago and I set it aside. Recently, I saw Justin Peters' video on it so I pulled it out and took a look and sure enough it didn't take long to see that that book is totally un- Biblical. So without a second thought I tossed it into the trash.
@@username00009Hi - IMHO you should share that with your friend because as a Christian you do have a responsibility to convey such to a fellow believer. Then she can make her own decision to research further if she cares to. If she doesn't then you've still done your part - and obeyed God's command.
Thank you for doing this video.
Thanks Todd for the clarity
Essentially, it's about promoting a Jesus without the Gospel.
What do this Buddy Christ, New Age, Mother Earth, and ‘spiritual’ worldviews share? They make no moral demands upon anyone.
Judaism and the Gospel present moral laws from a divine authority.
Great clarity, Todd!!
The self centered nature of the title of the campaign is a start.
Great commentary
No gospel message in these ads. Nothing about the cross or resurrection
No lie, those campaigns are plain cringe.
Thank you for exposing the real motives of this campaign. This is a nice example of how to do research before supporting things done in Jesus' name.
A gospel without repentance, a gospel without holiness, a gospel without truth, a gospel without submission, and a gospel without transformation is the devil’s lie to give false assurance to condemned people.
Well said!
I have been wondering what the catch was with the ad. Just seems like something was up. In an attempt to make Jesus relatable, they forgot the side of Jesus that is offensive to our sinful nature. Jesus isn't a teddy bear that presents a message that is soothing to the ears. He provokes change and convicts unrepentant hearts.
Well Done Wretched!!!!❤❤❤
Wow good explanations!
Yes, I had a flag up from the beginning and chased down the source of these ads.
This might be cynical but if it's allowed to advertise on major networks and garner all this attention you know it's not the gospel. If they were truly based and Bible believing it would never gain this much traction.
Bingo!!!
Truth!
To be fair though, in the 90s the major networks used to play Billy Graham Crusades..but he gets us is demonic...
Really good point there. Critical thinking is not cynicism, but a lost art.
👍🏼💯✝️
Thank you, Todd.
The full Gospel message would not have gotten the green light, no matter how much money was presented.
Thanks for the thorough expose, Todd!
It is just a tactic to desensitize people to The Gospel. What better way to face damnation then to think you are saved. I know God is sovereign and He is in complete control, but we should pray for all those who think they are saved by calling on a Jesus not the Jesus of The Bible.
Please do a video on “A Game For Good Christians” they have the same exact social justice bent and have banned me from commenting on their Facebook lol.
Also, I would like to thank you for creating these videos to help Christian’s navigate the minefield that is Subversive “Christian” content.
I’m glad I agree with you in regards to this ad campaign. Sometimes I wonder why I miss some of the lessons my favorite people on RUclips give out. I realize that there is something wrong with the people that they are rightly judging by the standard of God’s Word, but I don’t hear what the Spirit is saying until I have the lesson served to me as if I am still a bottle-fed Christian baby when I, in reality, have walked with my Saviour for 55 years.
Oh well, I need to leave my pity party and get back on my way to Emmaus. Prayer and reading the Word have always helped me to see the lessons the Lord has for me “today while it is still called today”. I need to quit comparing myself with you guys that are sharing God’s truths so adequately with me and focus on Jesus. (Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, (2 Corinthians 3:5, NASB))
Thanks for listening to me ramble along. I love a good think tank session.
