is this stolen content or did the producer kill a child? why does this only has 2k view. Am I De-lulu? This is better League coverage than 99% of Content creators.
LMAO this comment is amazing. Don't worry, no children or creators were harmed in the making of this video, all of it was organically grown at Spant farms🤝
Well... the video is all messy tbh, Is hard to keep the tracking of what he's talking about and he's not consistent on the order of events. they talk about 2018 worlds, then 2020 summer event, 2021, 2022, 2021, 2022, 2023, then go back to 2022. And also says things that doesn't happened like that (Community didn't caused a backlash on MFGG to cost from 3150 RP to 2700, riot took that before announcing. Star guardians wasn't the worst summer event even with people complaining about the game mode, the event was a success compared to 2021 Sentinels of light. Riot never intended stop giving Prestig from Passes when Blood Moon Aatrox, they decided to give More alterantives to obtain prestiges outside events. and so on) Scripts needs better organization to keep the track of things and make people understand situations. As well do more research of some topics because I, who lived all of those events and was extremely focused on obtain information and know about that stuff, dont find well that he misses some points and say things that don't happened that way he tell. So I understand why is difficult to people to interact with the video
I quit when they removed the chests. I still remember when they first released that shitty Jhin chroma and everyone was saying: Ow but this is only for the whales, it won’t become a thing every update 🤡.
ngl tho, i would kill to have that ONE ANIMATED emote that was on the shop for a week or so, the penguin one dabing with the meme glasses, like, for SOME REASON that is the only thing they never bring back and u just cannot have it again EVER
For how weird it sound, subconsciously it is somewhat like that, most people played the game for the events, events that gave like 2-3 orbs, the dopamine rush gave people an incentive to play, sorta like a "90% of players quit before getting Elementarist lux for free", now that it is almost impossible to get Legendaries, Mythics and Ultimates, the people that care about skins, no longer have an incentive to play, same with the people that were progressing to get higher levels, now the only valuable thing is Ranked, which casuals hate @@Murgota
@ Being rewarded for playing and mastering a champion was my motivation to keep playing. I'm an aram player 99% of matches and they removed any form of reward or motivation to keep playing. Since there's no ranked aram either I don't see much point in playing.
Even if I could literally print money, you would never catch me buying a skin thats the price of a whole ass GPU. I feel like Genshin being a mainstream success was a mistake, man.
I don't really see the big issue here. Don't get me wrong it's scummy that Riot is doing it for sure, but if you're willing to pay 300/500 Dollars for a skin, the main issue is your judgement.
@@AdnanRahmanović-d6u its kinda about gaming companies taking advantage of people with gambling addiciton, sure, the people are responsible for themselves, but its kinda scummy
@@AdnanRahmanović-d6ui wouldve loved to get that jinx skin, hell id even go as far as to pay an ultimate skin price tag for it (despite skipping the soul fighter samira due to it not living up to standards at the time) but there's no way in hell im gambing 200$+ on a skin still dont see the issue here? they are losing paying customers to milk the whales while ordinary players are missing out on cool skins; only time will tell whether or not that monetization model is sustainable in the long run for riot but as a player i hate everything about this
I have a total of 278 skins not counting chromas, but I will never own an exalted skin. In fact, since battle passes no longer give mythic essence, I don't know that I will ever put money in the game again.
I bought the Arcane pass and saved 125 ME for Prestige Sera skin just to know that the ME will be gone from pass and all prestige skins will be 150 now.
I get why people don't like the new pass, but this is the first time I have ever bought the pass because I actually really liked the skins you can unlock from it and the price was reasonable for me. Will I buy a pass again? Not unless I really, really like the skins because honestly the time I have to put into playing the game to get the exp to unlock them is feeling a bit too much for me who usually plays less than a handful of games a week, and I'm not willing to spend more than $20 at a time so I won't be spending any more money to purchasing the exp.
Tbh i never cared for mythic essence or for the vast majority of prestige skins. I like the new pass after the BE fixes, but not being able to play TFT for it, just straight up sucks. I used to do both League and TFT passes, now I just don't know if I'll even have the time for both of them, or even if they're worth it. Now the passes are essentially loot currencies and skins. It's just so much harder to gauge at the value you're getting or if grinding a bit extra is even worth it for the price. Good luck to new people in the game. lol
I mean, greed is greed and all. But the only reason Riot keeps doing it is because LoL players are stupid enough to reward this behaviour and continue to buy the skin. If LoL players have even a little bit of self control it wouldn't have gotten this far.
In general the western playerbase is honest to its word to a decent extent. However the playerbases in the east, that matter far more due to sheer numbers, are buying in droves. There is a divide between communities on this matter.
look, you are talking about competitive games, gacha systems and self control in the same sentence. That is a combination worse than a heroin addiction.
@@sebastianbrenner6453 i mean, you say it as if they don't get flag and get memed to hell lol. it applies to everything EA's too, the sims franchise is in a very sad state in that regard too. but that's why nobody sees the EA logo on something now and thinks OH THIS IS SURELY GONNA BE GOOD lol. Addiction and overconsumption applies everywhere that there's a seller willing to make use of their customers, simple as that. rather than pit the maddedn and the lol fans in a scale of who is the more stupid and lacking self control ones, i would say all of them lol. please people stop it. and i despise even more the ones that try to say "b-b-but this small indie company needs to fund themselves sOMeHoWW :cccc"
When 90% of your game’s “events” are just skin releases, deleting free to play while it was already pretty terrible is just chef’s kiss Riot Games Behaviour.
I was actually thinking about skins recently and was sad that many new skins just aren't unique or specific to that one champion. In the past I liked the pool party collection, even arcade skins but didn't really realise it's a start of the process at the end of which we'll have a bunch of uninspired skin collections.
To me as a S4 player who quit a few years ago, something was wrong when they stopped doing animated champion lockscreens, even more so was them diverting away from animated cinematics and in game camera pans became the norm.
It genuinely makes me cry watching riot take after EA practices as i was also deeply passionate about the Sims series and sims 4 is an embarassing cornerstone in the defintion of Greed in comparison to the past games. I played league back in 2017 for a while, but just came back about 4 months ago. I was so happy with the set up of the two previous battle passes, the mastery chests, level up rewards, and ranked rewards. Now i am struggling to find reasons to play at all as the game itself is so toxic and painfully sad to play, paired with now zero rewards if you lose and only battle pass exp if you win... For a battle pass i hate every single item on and think is the worst thing to happen to the game right now 😢
What is the talking about just don't buy it... And 2025 has a noxus theme which never happened before and it relates to arcane so that's a lot of improvement. Why is he talking about how entitled a player should be
Surely... And thanks dude, I'm glad you liked it! It likely could have been much, much longer but this was what I felt was good balance of informative and still interesting and I'm glad to hear you thought so as well!
The fact that the skins are now all part of some theme or line makes all the champs look the same. There's no distinct silhouettes or color themes that let you know what a champ is at a glance anymore. I once missed a fizz for a lux. It's insane and i wish i could just turn all the cosmetics off.
And now we get to s15 Where f2p has become even worse and prior to some patches practically non existant for new players, even in terms of playing the game with how hard its now going to be to obtain spesific champions you like or want that arent in the lowest Blue essense cost range. The f2p Battlepass got nuked. We went from f2p pass giving you: 1 orb, and 5 keys + 2 rerolls from opening the 5 chests + orb skin. totaling to potentially 8 skins (if all the chests gave you a skin shard). To 1 skin (2 if you are an elise main) that will never be a legendary, and a bunch of useless icons, emotes, and blue essense. So They pretty much turned the battlepass from: "A game with a battlepass you can grind" to "Grind the battlepass in order to play the game becouse Blue essense". And that's not all! Here's a highlight of the s15 f2p changes: No more level up rewards. No more free chests. No more tokens which means you cant choose anymore what you want to get out of the battlepass. All free skins you are getting you cant reroll so pretty much no more rerolls. And as discussed BE is pretty much locked to battlepass, so getting new champs is now an even bigger grind. That's on top of the new cancer Gatcha which is the worst version of gatcha out of all the popular gatcha games. And mediocre legendary and gatcha exclusive 250$ skins. If everything before that didn't convince you that riot games has sold itself out, then this should be it. Btw i'd have next to no issues with almost all of these changes if riot was transparent about it. Like if they said "we realised our current monitization system is giving away too much for free to where we think its not as profitable as we think is acceptable for us. So we are making it Free to play the game, but the rest will be 90% not obtainable for free anymore." That would be fair. But unfortunatly that would also mean a huge loss of players. So instead they try at every opportunity to gaslight the players on twitter and reddit with how its akchuwally 🤓👆an improvement/upgrade for f2p players. Ps: sorry for my bad english.
They have been stripping the game of free rewards just to lock them behind a more expensive paywall while having the audacity to drip-feed us through said paywall, it's really sad good video :)
I want to clarify something. Riot never needed a push back on MFGG princing tag. In the exact same moment they announced the skin they CLARIFFIED that they knew the skin didn't reach the quality or intentions of an Innovative Ultimate Skin. There is a full video talking about that; saying that they won't put a pricetag of 3150 RP for that ultimate skin, and instead they wanted to deliver a cheaper option by 2700 because the knew it was really hard meeting the same standard that Elementalist Lux did (and the skin EVEN went into Sales, having a price tag of 1820RP, the price of a legendary, I bought it on that price tag). They were pretty clear and that shows how riot changed these years, the didn't need the Community's feedback to aknowledge those big issues and they weren't predatory. (And the Rioter who was talking about that back then is now the principal director of Valorant, btw, she was amazing on her job in League lol) PD: And no. 2022 SG event wasn't the most stale summer event ever. Because in 2017/2018 we had Star guardians and Odyssey. in 2019 we had nothing of a summer event because we were going to have Riot's anniverssary in october. So 2019 was mostly dead. As well, 2021 and 2023 were much worse Summer Events in interaction outside league's gameplay than SG 2022. As well SG 2022 received more money and merchadising and stuff than Soul Fighters did in 2023, as well It caused less backlash than Sentinels in 2021. So the worst Summer event of history of leagues keeps being the Sentinels because the lack of care they had in the games lore and his community, because it was "A canon event". Star guardian was okay, not better than Spirit blossom but better than Sentinels, the lack of a mode game made people angry but that's it, and it pushed riot to improve Meta Games outside Summoners rift a bit more, that made Arena born, and Swarm mode after that that is a spiritual succesor to Star guardian: Invasion and Odyssey: Extraction. Sentinels of light bringed nothing but more problems to Riot because they started acting weird after the fail of that event, doing weird creative decisions on Canon runeterra things and well, They had to create a Team that is about cohesivity between IP's that use League's universe (Wild rift, legends of Runeterra and LoL) to make it consistent and not do a "Ruination event" again.
exposing the terrifying rise in LOL players being irresponsible with money Riot would have never increased the prices if people didnt buy stuff, this very same process is in Valorant, skins are released, they are more expensive than previous ones, people buy them anyway, Riot increases the heat on the frogs and observes, the frogs dont care, they stay in the pot, thus Riot increases the heat again
I mean, they were always greedy from what season 2/3 onwards. It's just got worse with each season. Anyway, just stop buying skins. That is how you tell them. Show your resolve with your wallet.
Exactly. It all started with the rng purchases on store. The game was fine when they had a pricetag on each skin and sales every now and then. Most of the skins that were limited were either event specific like the Victorious and championship or the PAX skins. That was okish. I still believe there's no reason to limit a digital good and make it artificially scarce to pump price though, still unacceptable. But I fully agree with you, I just don't give them money. I'll keep playing as long as I still like the game (enjoyment goes down every season tho) even though I know I'm benefiting them by just being a player, even without buying... But oh well, paying them for spitting in the face of their audience is way worse
Riot is turning slowly to be a gusha game but she didnt give the majority of player a free wishes or coins or idk like genshin impact did or other gusha game riot just making it like gambling and begin so gready by removing chests that exicited for the start of the game it used to give rp in s 1 s 2 for free to get players to play the game and now she use us like a walet if the game stay like this the f2p players will just stop palying the game or aram players that allways play to get skins from chests they will leave
Crazy that people misses chests, when RIOT made that as a gacha as well, with literally a 60/40 chance to get a skin...... *WARD* an icon, or a legacy ugly skin, often with some gems of skins but that was literally RNG. Just quit the game already.
Another big reason why Riot added these more exclusive skin tiers is because whales were able to reroll the Prestige skins right away when they went live even before the Mythic overhaul that added the special versions for OG owners. After that Mythic overhaul in 2022 you could still reroll them but only after the original event for the skins ended just without icon and border. Originally they wanted to make you wait until the next preseason to have a chance to reroll it but they went back on that too due to backlash. During the introduction of Mythic Variants with Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin they tried to calm the community down by saying that they would be able to reroll it too sometime the next year... which wasn't a lie but when they made it available at the end of 2024 they also said that no other Mythic Variant would ever be available through rerolling even though the Cosmic Jhin FAQ basically tricked the community into thinking that they all would. Since why should rules for a skin tier only apply to one and not to all? Which basically means that players that skipped out on the Mythic Variants for their mains because they thought ''I'll just wait a year and hope I can reroll it one day'' got duped by Riot and will likely never get a chance of getting these skins again since so far none of those skins ever returned. Now every Mythic Variant (except Jhin) and Exalted skin is excluded from the reroll pool. Not that it really matters for Free to Play players since Riot removed every way for them to get skinshards to reroll this preseason where you can no longer get free chests or level up capsules. Even the Milestone Capsules for every 50 levels got removed which was the only guaranteed way for a Free to Play Player to get Mythic Essence. Mythic Essence has been turned from a hard to obtain premium currency for the normal F2P Player to a paid-only currency available solely through gambling. Also about the Eclipse Senna Prestige I can't find a source but I think I remember that when it first hit PBE you did not have a chance to get the skin early at a low percent change like the Mythic Variants and that it was ONLY obtainable as the final capsule track reward before they changed it to the skin being available for 125ME in the shop and capsules giving 125ME in case you don't have enough. Which made it hard but not impossible for a Free to Play Player to obtain it through saving their ME over a stupid long period of time... unlike now. Anyway TLDR good video. You deserve more subs.
mythic variants was the nail in the coffin for me to stop buying skins, i was told in support tickets ekko and other Mythic variants would be re-rollable in a year. (yes the ekko/other skins!) and then they change it to nope just jhin. i'm 100% sure if we knew they werent coming back- people not only backlash but buy it too in chance they could. now the gacha skins(jinx/sett) really just gross XD
So is like i feared, the KDA prestige skins is what prompted the fall. From overpriced legendaries, to legendary chromas locked behind a gacha, and now ultimate skins locked behind a gacha scam.... So in a way, it's KDA's fault and also the whales who riot has been trying to appease. EDIT: like the video said, if there's someone we should be complaining about aren't the rioters who are just following orders, but rather the executives, the corpos who forces their decisions
This is a great video! I'm very new to league (started ~3 months ago) and one of the things that's quite off-putting to me is how gatekept and hard-to-access skins are, now even more so than ever before due to the loss of free hextech chests. It's not likely but I'm hoping they make these chests easier to access again.
Thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah it's definitely gotten a lot worse recently (hence the reason I made this video :P) but hopefully things change🙏. Hope you've been enjoying learning the game and finding some favorite champions!
I draw the line at gatcha skins because that's just rito taking a page from genshin impact-- its so predatory and if they keep this up I'm just not gonna buy anymore skins/rp ever-- even if the skin if for my mains/fav champs Vote with your wallets people! And whales are kinda ruining things for everyone because they'll gladly shill out 500 bucks for a skin which gives rito the green light to keep doing this shit... rip
I think making the arcane skins “limited edition” even though they knew that show would bring in thousands of new players was crazy. Ppl still talk about the show. I’m personally really salty I didn’t get a single one lol
I used to put $100 in my riot wallet at the start of the year and that was my money to play with for the year. Anything I wanted had to come out of that. A one time purchase every year which I figured was about what the game was worth for the amount of hours I put in that added up to a little less than what a subscription would cost in other games. This year I didn't put in the $100. They targeted whales so hard in 2024 that my yearly investment just didn't start to cover the money Riot was wanting out of me. In the old days I would have spent out of the yearly budgeted money for an Ultimate, not so anymore. So I'm no longer a paying customer. They priced me out of the cool stuff.
I feel you, i totally didnt mind spending money on league and was happy about new skin releases for my main champs but the last 2-3 skins were all absolutely lacking in quality and i know im not the customer they target, rather the one that gets leftovers
i hate the pricing, but the problem is - league skins look just awful. they not only hardly recognizable in the game itself, they look ridiculous. i main around 6 or 7 champions and i can’t even buy anything cause the skins are ugly as hell…
Thanks for addressing the elephant in the room, I feel sad for having supported riot in the past when they used to be reasonably chill, I forgot that at the end of the day, they're still a corporation. Less assured they won't be getting a single penny from me. (I hope y'all can do the same) Also glad I found this channel! Very well thought out content and good format!
For me, the removal of free chests was the biggeest offence, the last nail in the coffin, and i knew it was coming ever since they started changing how the mastery system would work back some months ago (and making it basically imposible at the time to get nay chests if you wanted to play aram). I just left. my season 1 account with like 400 hundred skins (i know, not the most, but not little by any means) sits abandoned for like 5 months now. i would always be looking forward to playing random champs and achieven an s in aram when i was just too tired for summoner's rift, and get a chest by doing so. they compeltely removed the main way of enjoyment i had with this game during work weeks honestly, and i doubt they care, because even though i would also buy skins separately that i loved (like kraken nami, that was one of the last ones for me), i'm aware that they don't care about any one of us unless you spend 400 hundred dollars every month. And i'm aware that an online game needs a healthy playerbase, it's not like they are doing you any favours. they NEED you. if i don't feel like neither my time nor money are being rewarded here, i'll just go somewhere else, and that's what i did.
Its not just League, its the entire gaming industry, and largely the world as a whole. The video game industry has 1 goal in 2025: to turn you into a degenerate gambler. Nothing more nothing less, case closed. Edited for context; voice to text sucks.
I'm sure league would still survive bcs of the eSports. Since many businesses invest large sums for it Idk where it'll face it's downfall but maybe when the time comes. I guess the people with skinless champions would be faker now and not relying on skins itself.
Most of the skins suck too. They have moved far away from the original themes of the game. Some of the new stuff just looks like some recycled nonsense you would see in Call of Duty or some generic 3A skin store. I could think of way cooler shit than what they are releasing.
I havent been playing league this season, I'm not a ranked player and they have removed everything I used to grind 😅 even levels because they removed the first win of the day boost, but man its hard to stay away, everyday I need to control myself to not install it again, as a fat guy I can say that is easier to get fit (because I did it once) than quiting league (never could🤦)
Yeah the call of the rift is strong for sure😅 But I know you got this man, you're stronger than you realize and, trust me, you won't regret the discipline
This video had a LOT to cover so apologies if I didn't get to absolutely everything in Riot's monetary catalogue. Let me know your thoughts and as always, thanks so much for watching! 🤍
Hi, ive been playing league since around 2020, just after yones release, granted, i have been part of the issue regarding riot monetization in terms passes. That being said, tou brought up some interesting points and I actually love the idea of prestige skins being awarded through playing the champ. I also spoke to some freinds about the current mastery chests, or lack thereof, and actually conaidered it be brought back as a level up reward at certain levels, or for the least, when reaching honor 4 or higher, you gain a random skin shard, so F2P players could still possibly get a skin that they want. Just my 2 cents, great video, keep up the good work
Looks like both you and I have been playing for around the same amount of time! I started the same time Sett was released in 2020 :). Glad to hear that you enjoyed the video and my prestige idea as well, plus I actually really like that idea you have too! Appreciate the kind words and sharing your thoughts
To be honest, theres even more things I can add to your video that I have noticed showcases their greed: * I own every skin, I used to be reroll any skin that I didn't own, 2 years ago they removed that functionality and now some skins are straight up not available, and some require a time gate. Sure I would be getting skins really cheap that are meant to be exclusive, but the way i got to this point is by spending a ton in the first place. * Events themselves being loot passes, theres more to this, if you look at the time period from 2014-2019 and then 2020-2025, how many new game modes have you seen? And I mean truly innovative, the only new mode i can name thats innovative currently is the arena/swarm, before you had all assassin mode, you had thresh void gamemode, ascension, etc etc. * (more of a reach) Their balancing decisions have also been more or less quality focused. Think of champions like senna who over the course of season 14 had the same change happen to them back and forth multiple times (her passive went from 8% to 2% to 8% to 2%). Basically it just shows me that they just do the bare minimum to keep the illusion of the game being balanced around instead of actually making meaningful changes that kept it fresh. * How about that cinematic from 2022, that was literally one of the biggest disappointments we had. Alone i can count this as a fluke, but because of all the other evidence ive seen it seems like it was them trying to push just how much they can autopilot league * How about the chat restrictions, instead of battling actual toxicity, they battle mean words and call it a day. Yes its low hanging fruit to ban someone for saying gamer words, but that was never the problem. They made the problem worse if anything because i know i cant shit talk my jungler, ill get banned, but i can always "oopsie" and start stealing their camps with no repercussions, so toxicity just became worse because of their lackluster approach. I started league in season 2, it was a very fun game that had a vibrant community albeit toxic at times. Because of this i invested money because I enjoyed the game. Now it just seems like my investment didn't pan out because they basically rival EA and Ubisoft levels of quality and monetization. To be frank, you have a positive outlook it seems, i honestly believe this game is just doomed to be a cash cow for other projects, and we are seeing its downward trajectory live. New players dont want to join because its too much of a buy in, and veterans dont want to play because of the mounting frustration that exists. I personally dont buy new skins anymore, i didnt buy ahri, jinx, sett and the only skins i get are those i can reroll. Funding them at this point is not appealing anymore.
Dont buy skins. If the best player in the world for the game never uses skins (even the skins specifically designed for him). You shouldn't be buying any skins in this game. The game has turned into a gatcha system with the chests. "The house always wins"
just wanna say great video, was hoping you'd mention the fact that they created these "exalted skins" because of how not rare the prestige/mythic skins are anymore, but then they removed basically every way to get mythic essence anyways so they're ALSO gonna be rare because the only way to get them now is the buy the expensive 4k battle pass bundles or roll in the sanctum
Short story: Riot spend 250mil on Arcane, they didn’t get any new League players because of it which they didn’t expect, now they’re trying to do damage control
Though it is a repetitive & redundant at this point, it's good that people haven't forgotten to voice their frustrations with this very obvious issue. And props to you in this case for not being overly emotional about it like certain lol yt channels...
Already got the next script in the works don't you worry! Trying to squeeze time in whenever possible (shoutout 16 credits of college classes) to get the next one out as soon as possible. Really appreciate the kind words and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed!
Great vid! Could of also mentioned that they removed hexchests and refuse to mention why they removed them. Also when they removed getting champion capsules from level uping after 30lvl. The pro essence problem is barely fixed so for new players (me), there is barely any feel of progress. Feels like the begining of the end for League..
Thanks dude I'm glad you enjoyed! I've gotten a couple comments about the lack of mentioning hextech chests/lack of BE and they would have been included had the script/filming not already been completed prior to that change being made. Appreciate the kind words
They are fast approaching the point of no return with there greed. If they keep this up all it will take is one solid competitor to throw them off their throne, even temporarily. Wow took their player base for granted and monetized them to hell until the max exodus to ff14. It forced them to listen to their community. It's back on top now, but what they did for their community would not have happened if it wasn't for FF making them wobble a bit.
Riot saw Gatcha games success and went like "let's make it all gatcha" but they forgot that gatcha games offer players alot of stuff to claim by just playing, just logging in the game and doing some mundane tasks earn you currency maybe not much but at worst, enough to get a 5* or two every patch if you're really unlucky
I wish Riot slow way to lose money. The change to battle pass is just bs. Yeah, I can avoid all absolute evil greedy skins, but change to battle pass means, even average player who spends 20$ a month on League, doesn't even want to spend that money on boring skins and horrible rewards in battle pass. I mean, we getting blue essence as reward in battle pass lmao what. No, thank you! I will spend my money on something else.
League skins used to be he the best value in the moba genre skin market Now smite puts riot to shame (and even worse, smite 2 is just outright better than league season 15)
Remember when we compared Riot's decisions in marketing against the likes of Blizzard and EA? When we use to praise them for knowing and catering the player's demands? Remember when they used to be "for the players"? Seems like whenever a company goes huge, it'll all be Blizzard situation all over again. Cant wait for the MMO to come out, then Riot's MMO will be the last thing that'll keep the company alive.
Imo leagues lack of real events makes players think skins itself are events. There are so many posts about "1000 days without a skin for an unpopular champ" and I always think : Why focus on that? I play lots of champs that are not that popular and now I get it: it is because nothing else keeps the game fresh. Everything is so stale, barely new gamemodes, no f2p rewards anymore etc. Really sad to see a game being only exciting when cosmetics drop. I love your idea about getting prestiges when you play a certain champ a lot, btw.
seeing that U.S had an issue with Genshin impact I really doubt riot will go this far with pushing gambling (that new sparks shit they added for the skins). here is context: back then riot talked how hard lux elementalist was to make and how ultimate skins are really pricey now we get one every patch behind 500 bucks. what changed?
I'm full on board that riot is greedy with what they're doing. I just do not understand why people quit because they no longer receive chests. Does everybody forget the time before the crafting system, where there was no way of getting RP skins for free? Believe me or not, there was a time when chests weren't a thing at all and people now use the removal of them as a reason to quit?
There is no incentive for F2P, it's not a surprise that they don't want to play anymore. And it's not just chests, but also capsules. They really want you to grind the battle pass to get BE.
trust me free skins are just last straw, there was a reason league was astronomically popular before, and it had to do with not being like other triple a d0g companies
I feel it'll always be a point of guilt for me that I did end up rolling for the Jinx skin. In this case, it really was a one time buy since Jinx is my favorite champion and the one who got me through a lot of tough times, as pathetic as that sounds. Anyway, even if it is just one time, realizing now that I'm part of the problem, and that this creep will keep going, is very saddening. League has been my favorite game for a while, but as of late, I'm starting to see that the problems just keep multiplying, and it's hard to continue supporting decisions like these. But it's already too late. Most people on my friends list rolled for the skin, and I even had a few buy the 500$ Ahri skin. My only hope now is that my other favorite champions don't get a super expensive exalted skin, because I fear we've reached the point of no return with Riot's greed.
I played League a lot back in the day - I've bought the Brolaf, Pulsefire Ezreal and tons of the Christmas skins. I used to buy skins occasionally when they were on sale as I usually just enjoy playing a large variety of champions. After a 10 year break and coming back to the game I have no idea why I would spend money on this game as the cosmetics don't seem worth the price. I did appreciate getting the new champion Mel for free by playing a few games shielding and doing magic damage. So in my opinion the game seems better for the free player and worse for the people willing to pay than it did 10 years ago.
the rarity system doesnt make sense to me for some champions. If i was to do a blind fold test on Project Mordekaiser vs Old God, I would say old god was the 'legendary' skin
I quitted this season after playing for non stop 7 years this game the lack of care and just gridiness can be felt theought the whole game and it's just disgusting at this point i might still play the occasional aram once or twice a month but if things don't change im gonna stick it to that only
Nah man, tbis shit is wayy too high quality,i genuinely need to invest on you. Also, i completely agree, i follow Riot since 2017 and Jesus Christ what has happened with them
spoiler alert; thats how all video game companies view consumers/players; 'as walking wallets to spend more $$$ on their product', hence why a lot of games are terrible now because big-game CEO's prolly pushed the passion outta their workers (altho u do still get some good ones out every now n then) and for LoL to be in operation since 2009, and it being 2025, i'd say it's WELL and truly lasted beyond its wildest imagination... any game can truly breathe a sigh of confidence and fulfilment if their game has even lasted a decade, much less 15+ years and especially with as such magnitude as LoL has achieved, i.e. pro-gaming tourneys, streams, other media etc.. as much as I despise the game itself, having just finished Arcane, yea, they're doing alright as a game/company
@simplyspant thank you for response, but i think its a real dealbraker because a lot of people been buying their fav champs skins but then getting skins and champions on the side but now its like 5% then you could get for free
Prestige skins were one of the tipping points for me. THe banality of the FOMO that shit introduce was just disgusting to me, and since I was tired of the toxic community and overloaded new champs, I quitted
ive been out of the game for about 3 years now and i admit that ive missed some things, earlier this month i thought of redownloading this crap but i immediately walked away again after seeing all these atrocious changes they ve made + the games balance is lethal for anyone looking for a chill time. They have legit destroyed their game, only way for me to return is if they make a legacy server
is this stolen content or did the producer kill a child? why does this only has 2k view. Am I De-lulu? This is better League coverage than 99% of Content creators.
LMAO this comment is amazing. Don't worry, no children or creators were harmed in the making of this video, all of it was organically grown at Spant farms🤝
almost like it only came out 1 day ago and the uploader doesn't have a lot of reach yet
ye i only notice that ather reading you comment TOP content! sub!
now that you mentioned it i thought he had atleast 100k
Well... the video is all messy tbh, Is hard to keep the tracking of what he's talking about and he's not consistent on the order of events. they talk about 2018 worlds, then 2020 summer event, 2021, 2022, 2021, 2022, 2023, then go back to 2022.
Riot never intended stop giving Prestig from Passes when Blood Moon Aatrox, they decided to give More alterantives to obtain prestiges outside events. and so on)
Scripts needs better organization to keep the track of things and make people understand situations. As well do more research of some topics because I, who lived all of those events and was extremely focused on obtain information and know about that stuff, dont find well that he misses some points and say things that don't happened that way he tell.
So I understand why is difficult to people to interact with the video
fact that they added gacha and removed free chests is the biggest shot in the foot, legit reason to quit
Yeah, but most of league players are masochists and used to toxic relationship
quit months ago when the first gacha skin dropped, it's insane how much worse it's become
@@opgarbage I quit when the added Vanguard last year.
good choice honestly, what even crazier you cant even see your loot without getting flashed in the face with this shitty gacha
I quit when they removed the chests. I still remember when they first released that shitty Jhin chroma and everyone was saying: Ow but this is only for the whales, it won’t become a thing every update 🤡.
Riot thinking that emotes and icons are what people go crazy over is genuinly mad
i think they know no one cares about that stuff…they jus do it to say they gave players something lmao
ngl tho, i would kill to have that ONE ANIMATED emote that was on the shop for a week or so, the penguin one dabing with the meme glasses, like, for SOME REASON that is the only thing they never bring back and u just cannot have it again EVER
Glad they made it so apparent. Removal of chests made me quit on the new season so thank you riot for ridding me of my LoL addiction.
Hard to put a finger on it but yeah, both chest nerfs are probably big reasons why I stopped playing.
so gambling was the only motivation for you to keep playing? LMAO
@ what happened to playing video games to have fun
@ Being rewarded for playing and mastering a champion was my motivation to keep playing. I'm an aram player 99% of matches and they removed any form of reward or motivation to keep playing. Since there's no ranked aram either I don't see much point in playing.
Even if I could literally print money, you would never catch me buying a skin thats the price of a whole ass GPU.
I feel like Genshin being a mainstream success was a mistake, man.
It really is a shame. Plus, gambling ruins lives and it sucks to see my favorite game enabling it :/
I don't really see the big issue here.
Genshin literally treats F2P players better than League and it's not even close
@@AdnanRahmanović-d6ui wouldve loved to get that jinx skin, hell id even go as far as to pay an ultimate skin price tag for it (despite skipping the soul fighter samira due to it not living up to standards at the time) but there's no way in hell im gambing 200$+ on a skin
still dont see the issue here? they are losing paying customers to milk the whales while ordinary players are missing out on cool skins; only time will tell whether or not that monetization model is sustainable in the long run for riot but as a player i hate everything about this
I have a total of 278 skins not counting chromas, but I will never own an exalted skin. In fact, since battle passes no longer give mythic essence, I don't know that I will ever put money in the game again.
That sounds very similar to myself actually so I totally feel that :P Mythic essence changes really been hurting for sure.
Your Kinda right. But in the other Hand, say that to people who play EAs FIFA or MADDEN xD
In general the western playerbase is honest to its word to a decent extent.
However the playerbases in the east, that matter far more due to sheer numbers, are buying in droves.
There is a divide between communities on this matter.
People who buy 250$ skins are too ignorant to care
look, you are talking about competitive games, gacha systems and self control in the same sentence.
I do not care at all about league but this video is really well made and deserves more attention.
Haha thanks dude I appreciate it! Glad to hear that you enjoyed without selling your soul to League💪
For a battle pass i hate every single item on and think is the worst thing to happen to the game right now 😢
I feel exactly the same way. The free rewards still kept me somewhat going. Not anymore.
What is the talking about just don't buy it... And 2025 has a noxus theme which never happened before and it relates to arcane so that's a lot of improvement. Why is he talking about how entitled a player should be
@@cupidok2768 shove that noxus theme down ur a45e
@@cupidok2768 Good for you to lick riot games boot.
riot gonna lessen the scams after watching this video, surely...
All jokes aside, good stuff condensing the monetization lore in a short video
And now we get to s15
Where f2p has become even worse and prior to some patches practically non existant for new players, even in terms of playing the game with how hard its now going to be to obtain spesific champions you like or want that arent in the lowest Blue essense cost range.
Here's a highlight of the s15 f2p changes:
No more level up rewards.
They have been stripping the game of free rewards just to lock them behind a more expensive paywall while having the audacity to drip-feed us through said paywall, it's really sad
good video :)
Agreed, glad you enjoyed the vid and thanks so much for watching!!
(And the Rioter who was talking about that back then is now the principal director of Valorant, btw, she was amazing on her job in League lol)
PD: And no.
Sentinels of light bringed nothing but more problems to Riot because they started acting weird after the fail of that event, doing weird creative decisions on Canon runeterra things and well, They had to create a Team that is about cohesivity between IP's that use League's universe (Wild rift, legends of Runeterra and LoL) to make it consistent and not do a "Ruination event" again.
exposing the terrifying rise in LOL players being irresponsible with money
Riot would have never increased the prices if people didnt buy stuff, this very same process is in Valorant, skins are released, they are more expensive than previous ones, people buy them anyway, Riot increases the heat on the frogs and observes, the frogs dont care, they stay in the pot, thus Riot increases the heat again
I love your analogy of frogs 🤣🤣🤣
I mean, they were always greedy from what season 2/3 onwards.
It's just got worse with each season.
Anyway, just stop buying skins. That is how you tell them. Show your resolve with your wallet.
Amen to that🔥
(yes the ekko/other skins!) and then they change it to nope just jhin. i'm 100% sure if we knew they werent coming back- people not only backlash but buy it too in chance they could. now the gacha skins(jinx/sett) really just gross XD
cant wait for the video to be destroyed by one guy saying "its a free game bro"
You having 6k views is CRIMINAL, this is by far the best video I've seen about this situation!
Thanks dude I really appreciate it! Glad you found it valuable :D
You forgot to mention that League was bought in 2011 by Tencent, which like one of THE main thing that affected the game's current direction
I draw the line at gatcha skins because that's just rito taking a page from genshin impact-- its so predatory and if they keep this up I'm just not gonna buy anymore skins/rp ever-- even if the skin if for my mains/fav champs
Vote with your wallets people!
Nothing will change people will buy those skins. It just takes one of their favorite champs to get one.
I'll say this, a lot of games having been dying due to the predatory monetization that the game has, I am certain that this will be league's downfall.
nah, big company will be always be greedy and it works
i hate the pricing, but the problem is - league skins look just awful. they not only hardly recognizable in the game itself, they look ridiculous. i main around 6 or 7 champions and i can’t even buy anything cause the skins are ugly as hell…
I'm in the same boat with spending money on Riot so I feel ya🤝 Stoked to hear you enjoyed the content and I appreciate the kind words as well!
Since many businesses invest large sums for it
Idk where it'll face it's downfall but maybe when the time comes.
Boycot. Uninstall. Recent riot has been absolute trash garbage. Stop playing, and uninstall everything Riot. There's tons of other games out there.
Jesus Christ, dude. Go play something else
Fill your free time with working out to distract yourself 😉

Thanks so much dude, I really appreciate it! Really stoked to hear you've been enjoying the content and I appreciate the kind words
To be honest, theres even more things I can add to your video that I have noticed showcases their greed:
* I own every skin, I used to be reroll any skin that I didn't own, 2 years ago they removed that functionality and now some skins are straight up not available, and some require a time gate.
Alone i can count this as a fluke, but because of all the other evidence ive seen it seems like it was them trying to push just how much they can autopilot league
* How about the chat restrictions, instead of battling actual toxicity, they battle mean words and call it a day.
I feel like they started doing that more in league because they saw how much they could get away with it in wildrift
The fact the bar is so low in hell that the recent drop I only saw Nami and Jhin having the most work put into them if anything at all
Dont buy skins.
25:15 A BATCH OF WHAT?
LMAO I knew someone was gonna comment on this😅
Long, informative, clear to understand video on a current subject narrated by a handsome guy? Why does this have no views?
In my completely unbiased opinion these are all correct points :PP Glad you enjoyed the vid haha
Though it is a repetitive & redundant at this point, it's good that people haven't forgotten to voice their frustrations with this very obvious issue. And props to you in this case for not being overly emotional about it like certain lol yt channels...
this video is do good. please make more because i loved binge watching this spant!
Already got the next script in the works don't you worry! Trying to squeeze time in whenever possible (shoutout 16 credits of college classes) to get the next one out as soon as possible. Really appreciate the kind words and I'm glad to hear you enjoyed!
@simplyspant hell yes my Nebuchadnezzar
Appreciate the kind words
this shit hurts to watch...
league had a soul once. now we only do what the chinese meta loves, because riot bends over for the eastern market.
Got your video recommended yesterday with like 200 views and then today with 12k, so I knew I had to watch this
Haha glad you gave it a watch! I appreciate it and hope you enjoyed
We can only hope.
20:14 That transition tho
Glad you liked it haha, I was happy about it too :D
Keep up the good work man , nice coverage .
Thanks for the support man, I appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed✌️
I had all the skins in the shop at one point; but ever since the $200 chroma stint happened, I sold my account and moved on with my life
I had no idea they did that to prestige skins since i was on a hiatus then, wtf, how is that even legal marketing??
I wish Riot slow way to lose money. The change to battle pass is just bs. Yeah, I can avoid all absolute evil greedy skins, but change to battle pass means, even average player who spends 20$ a month on League, doesn't even want to spend that money on boring skins and horrible rewards in battle pass. I mean, we getting blue essence as reward in battle pass lmao what. No, thank you! I will spend my money on something else.
Constructive criticism is sorely needed in this community. thanks for putting this message out there
League skins used to be he the best value in the moba genre skin market
Now smite puts riot to shame (and even worse, smite 2 is just outright better than league season 15)
video about to get a ton of views, good job dude
Appreciate it man, glad you enjoyed it💪
just delete riot games and start playing fun games
quit league around season 8. Im still somewhat invested in the universe. The game is just not it anymore for so many reasons.
boycott rp, dont give riot any money anymore at least as long as we dont get hextech chests back
Wow! Great exposé Mr. Spant!
I didnt realize how good we had it when gun goddess miss fortune got released good lord we were spoiled then
if you want them to listen, present it in a way that the investors and owners of riot see more money can be made by giving actual value
I’m shocked you didn’t mention removing chests and free skins and replacing them with 4 cookie cutter skins for pre chosen champions
I think we should not forget we are talking about cosmetics here.
this is kinda sad to see that they dont care for examples with the hextech chest
seeing that U.S had an issue with Genshin impact I really doubt riot will go this far with pushing gambling (that new sparks shit they added for the skins).
here is context: back then riot talked how hard lux elementalist was to make and how ultimate skins are really pricey now we get one every patch behind 500 bucks. what changed?
riot skin 2016 = my one month school allowance
riot skin 2024 = my one month salary
cool video dude :D
Appreciate it bro, glad you enjoyed!
it genuinely saddens me seeing this happen :(( so much genuine creativity tossed aside for profit
Number 15 Burger king feet lettuce...
Man I'm sorry for laughing at your voice but the ressemblance is uncanny.
LMAO no worries, I've made the same joke myself haha
Imagine how whipped you gota be to think 20 dollars is a fair price for a skin.
i lost my motivation playing
1:04 I haven't ever heard this said without unironically.
the rarity system doesnt make sense to me for some champions. If i was to do a blind fold test on Project Mordekaiser vs Old God, I would say old god was the 'legendary' skin
I quitted this season after playing for non stop 7 years this game the lack of care and just gridiness can be felt theought the whole game and it's just disgusting at this point i might still play the occasional aram once or twice a month but if things don't change im gonna stick it to that only
mabye im the problem i havent bought a skin in league for years after they made crafting cuz i just would get them for free.
Can't really say you are the problem if they started offering previously paid content for free.
good
video and great quality, keeo it up an you will be big.
Appreciate the support dude! Glad you enjoyed
Nah man, tbis shit is wayy too high quality,i genuinely need to invest on you.
Also, i completely agree, i follow Riot since 2017 and Jesus Christ what has happened with them
spoiler alert; thats how all video game companies view consumers/players; 'as walking wallets to spend more $$$ on their product', hence why a lot of games are terrible now because big-game CEO's prolly pushed the passion outta their workers (altho u do still get some good ones out every now n then)
and for LoL to be in operation since 2009, and it being 2025, i'd say it's WELL and truly lasted beyond its wildest imagination... any game can truly breathe a sigh of confidence and fulfilment if their game has even lasted a decade, much less 15+ years and especially with as such magnitude as LoL has achieved, i.e. pro-gaming tourneys, streams, other media etc..
as much as I despise the game itself, having just finished Arcane, yea, they're doing alright as a game/company
not even talking about the removing of free chests is crazy
Script was written/filmed right before this became a thing unfortunately ;-;
