- Metroid Dread gets an all new trailer, showing off new abilities, and menacing foes. Additionally, the trailer gives a glimpse of its many environments, its biomes, and distinct creatures. The game is expected to launch October 8.

Really nice to see a follow-up to Fusion. My favorite parts were her mission being to confirm the eradication of the X and also the subtle inclusion of her new purple ship from Fusion. Keeps the continuity really well.
She starts the game with the same orange suit color and green visor that she finishes Fusion in, also. But with more of the original suit parts regrown on top
RIGHT. Im glad we have a follow up from fusion

Technically, all the enemies in metroid are truly horrifying. She is dealing with enemies that steal genetic information from all organisms and are easily a threat to the entire galaxy. They are abominations that are intelligent, worthy of being a horror monster easily. Not to mention, samus is always alone trying to stop these enemies. If this wasn't a nintendo game, it probably would be in the horror genre.
Yeah they used to be fairy tale games back in the 80s 90s
I wish people would stop calling everything with elements of tension and suspense "horror"
I've never been a huge Metroid guy, i have really found memories of playing prime on GameCube though. I'm going to have to pick it up for that alone.
When you can Play Metroid Fusion, then Zero Mission. Why in that order? So you love them both equally. Both are amazing.

It’s so nice to see Metroid FINALLY get the light of day it deserves. I have loved this series for a while (but nowhere near as long as the OG fans) and it was always sad to see how few people knew about Metroid. To see such a resurgence and new people willing to give the franchise a chance, especially a side-scroller, is phenomenal. New fans and old are very happy and I’m very happy to see how welcoming the old fans are of new fans! Let’s show Nintendo that Metroid is one of its best franchises which was unnecessarily made into an underdog!

I haven't played Metroid since Super Metroid. I might have to get this.
It's easy to forget that with a lot of lore focus on Chozo being Gray Voice (The chozo that adopted and raised Samus) that many of them were a force to be feared given their tech . Samus Returns and now Dread look to be delving the Chozo race as well as expanding their lore.
I get the feeling Samus may feel at odds with the Chozo civillization as a whole when learning about them, possibly parts that Gray voice may not have told her about.
Don't forget Old Bird.
I think Samus knows at least a little bit about what's going on because she recognizes the phrase the General speaks to her in the trailer.
In just 2 weeks I'll have my hands on a game I've been waiting for since fusion came out.

Boy I sure hope Dread is Prime 4's "Fusion." I will absolutely play both... Whenever I can manage to get a Switch.
Would be cool if they have the dread suit in the game and you have to beat dread and prime 4 in order to used it. They did that with fusion suit in prime 1

It's amazing to see Nintendo have so much faith in this game, goes to show that they really think it's something worth playing if they're marketing it this hard.
Main series Metroid games have always done very well critically but sales haven't been great. It's nice to finally see them giving a metroid game the best possible opportunity to succeed for the first time.
The fact that a young gamer like you calls it "this game" shows that the Metroid Series was abandoned for too long.

Edit: I’m talking about Dread being a thing since 2005 as a DS sequel to Fusion. It got cancelled, resurfaced in a Prime 2 Easter egg, disappeared and is finally back. Happy?
@@jjmuti3979 i know the Metroid games bang, that’s why it’s awesome to see Nintendo have so much marketing. Not only does it mean it’ll get more exposure but also Nintendo believes it’s on the same level of quality as their other huge first party titles. He haven’t had that kind of “quality” Metroid game since Prime 3 honestly.

I have no idea why they didn't do tv ads in 94 where samus fricking flies through the screen with the speed booster and stuff in super metroid. They could have hyped it up to sell really well.

Wow, I’m loving this
I really liked Metroid Prime and Super Metroid. Super Metroid is probably one of my favorite Super Nintendo games if not my favorite videogame in general. What I really liked about Metroid Prime was that it was still Metroid but as a first person shooter. The gameplay still felt like Super Metroid with all the backtracking and getting new items in places you couldn't get to before but then you could once you had that new item or ability. This new Metroid looks amazing and I'm glad that it's back. Yeah we did get a Nintendo 3DS remake of Metroid 2 as Metroid: Samus Returns but it's great that we got a new original Metroid. I can't wait to play it.
This will be the first Metroid game I don’t have to use a emulator to play

If you're talking about the trailer music specifically, they used Night of the Drowned and Scarecrow from Epidemic Sound.
Anybody remember Metroid Prime 3: Corruption? Well, if you don't, lemme give you a little something. This was teased roughly over 10 years ago.
On the Pirate Homeworld, in the room with multiple Phazon Metroids, there are some scannable screens. One of them mentions "Project Dread". I can't remember the exact entry, but it was something along the lines of, "Project Dread is continuing as planned," or something like that. I'm so excited to actually see the project now!

Definitely one of my favorite nintendo exclusives, the first metroid I played was the return of Samus for gamboy and I thought it was beyond amazing for Gameboy at the time

I played Samus Returns, and while I enjoyed it, I didn’t find it overly amazing.
But this, from the visuals, to the way Samus moves, to the combat, this game looks a thousand times better than Samus Returns. Don’t even get me started on a horror game aspects.
Being stuck alone on an unknown planet with Samus’ emotionless AI being you’re only companion creates such a dreadful feeling of isolation. And that on top of those EMMI things hunting you, the bounty hunter, and you’re powerless against them… this game just looks so damn good.
They need to bring more 2D games back

Having been through the evolution of gaming since the NES I can appreciate this game for what it is and certainly it doesn't need to be 3d in 4k to make it better than any 3d 4k game. Well, maybe not better than Red Dead II but I'd bet money it will be a better game to play than most "up to date" graphical games out there.
It's also obviously going to work on day 1 unlike some games...

Why is she sometimes in the fusion suit and sometimes in the Varia suit? Wasn't the Varia suit completely destroyed by sa-x?
At the end of fusion Samus fused with SaX and gain her varia suit back to fight the omega Metroid well it was more like a parasite varia suit but you get the idea

Honestly I have up on console because they blocked Game shark, game genie et cetera.
As an adult often I cannot finish games because life is far more real. When you have to set it down and start over to many times you just stop. Why read a book if your not going to finish it.
If it isn't multiplayer you should not care if I just want to play in essentially story mode. Still experience the game but not have it take more dedication to playing than living.
Gaming is an escape not life. I can't live to okay games but inevitably if I have to give up living or gaming. It just proves that the pay it the way intended is not really a solid arguement. Hell build it into the game.
My favorite part of gaming as a kid was using have have shark to intentionally mess with games. It often proved to have entertaining results.

No, I think they sent that footage to lure Samus there. Plus, you forgot that the lab crashed into SR388 and blew up the whole planet sky high and Samus' Metroid Part had pretty much absorbed all the X Parasites.
@@groudonor12 I remember that. Might be spoilery, but I think that hostile Chozo on ZDR - are X parasites that escaped SR388 long before this lab crashed there.
Not a fan of the old classic metroid style very much. I like the first person shooter aspect of it from game cube and Prime hunters for the DS more.

Prime 4 is a separate title. Metroid 4 is actually Metroid Fusion in the main timeline.

I disagree. But games don't need good graphics to be good. Look at hollowknight and dead cells. There's others. Look at how popular pixel art games are these days.
Good story. Good gameplay. Smooth animation can go a lot further than good graphics. I could list a bunch of good graphics games that are absolutely shit. Anthem comes to mind.
