Indiana Jones & the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull WAS ACTUALLY PRETTY GOOD?! (My Girl Marion's back!)

  • We have made it to the 4th Indian Jones Movie! The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
I actually really enjoyed it. Shia Labeouf and Harrison Ford had great chemistry!
And it was so nice to see beautiful Marion again.
This one was a lot of fun and also necessary to show Indiana's growth as a human. I also loved the aspect of Aliens bringing knowledge to the humans thousands of years ago and taught them how to be more "human".
Can't wait for the 5th installment of Indiana Jones! Hope you all enjoyed this journey with me, loved these movies.

I liked this movie guys! I will say I hated Shia swinging with the monkeys in this lol. That was wild. And I laughed so hard when Indy took his hat back at the end!

I didn't really have any problems with this film. At the end of the day, it still felt like an Indy movie to me. I've also never understood the hate for the fridge scene. I remember seeing this at the cinema and that whole scene with him desperately trying to find a spot to hide probably got the most laughs out of any other scene in the film. Also we've been led to believe in all the previous films that religion is real and in this film that aliens have visited Earth. Is surviving a nuclear blast in a lead-lined fridge really that far-fetched in comparison?

I liked the movie as well. There's a couple of scenes that are over the top and probably could've been cut out. But overall it's entertaining. Temple of Doom is my favorite of the series.

Harrison Ford will be 80, but Indiana Jones will be 70 in the last movie technically, since it takes place in 1969. Ford has always been older than Indy.

my thoughts exactly. Plus with Crystal Skulls right there in the title and all the mythos around those, it was obvious where this was going to go from the outset. I suspect many of the complaints are by people who saw aliens as a cop-out and were unfamiliar wit the Crystal Skull mythos, which was MUCH bigger thing int he 70's. I didn't love this movie, but it was certainly serviceable and enjoyable enough. Dunno I am gonna bother with 5 though. Ford is too old and I'm not interested in seeing the torch passed (whoever that may be). I am still certain Shia screwed his chances with his comments on Spielberg during the movie, and that closing scene grabbing back the hat was referencing that. Both he and Megan Fox really screwed their careers off screen by attacking the directors

The best River Phoenix movie is Stand By Me (IMO!). I think you'd really enjoy that movie, it's a classic. It's particularly powerful and meaningful for a younger, coming-of-age audience, but it resonates well with any age group for a first-time watch and beyond. It was based on a Stephen King novella called The Body, and like the Shawshank Redemption (and other stories by him), it doesn't involve horror or supernatural elements.
Side note: I just searched your channel, and you don't appear to have watched Shawshank either??? 😯 You could definitely do Stand By Me, then do The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile as well, just to do a little Stephen King reaction series. These movies are at the top of a lot of people's lists for a reason. The Green Mile is very near the top of my all-time favorites, and it's a movie that I specifically seek out new reactions for because I have yet to encounter someone who can make it though without crying.

    • @caomhan84

Honestly, I've had an idea for awhile for a Short Round series. Like the Indy films took inspiration from the 1930's adventure serials, a Short Round show would be set in the 1970's (thus a few years after Indy 5, in 1969) and take inspiration from spy flicks as well as kung fu movies of the era. Short Round would be Ke Huy Quan's real age around 1975, and he would be going around Asia and the "hippie trail" of the era looking for artifacts and getting into hijinks with smugglers and Hong Kong triads, working with interpol, etc. And the great thing? He would essentially just be an adult version of himself...sort of like a comedic Jackie Chan/Indy hybrid. They could film the whole thing on LED screens 'ala The Mandalorian, so the plot can go anywhere from Hong Kong and Thailand to Samarkhand and pre-Revolution Iran. Disney Plus, 6 episodes...Harrison Ford cameo in the finale. It would totally work. :)

    • @caomhan84
      @caomhan84 Год назад

@@jamesway I've had the idea for about 9 or 10 months now, and I've developed it since then. I have an entire backstory for Shorty from 1935 to 1975. I know a few of the characters that I would like to include in his show. I've sketched out what he would be like at age 52. My only problem is that I just can't write the scripts myself. I've always been an idea guy but not the script person. And I have posted several times on Instagram as I have developed this idea, and it has gotten attention from people who say it's great and it could totally work. But I doubt anything will come of it.
The original comment on Ke Huy Quan's Instagram page from last September when he met Harrison Ford at D23 has gotten steady interest (spiking again after the Oscar win). Since I posted that, I have sketched out several ideas and story threads (including an episode where Shorty goes to Japan and comes to terms with forgiving the Japanese pilots who bombed Shanghai and made him an orphan... This episode would also delve a bit into what he did in WW2).
There's a bit of espionage, there's a bit of action and adventure, there is some kung fu, but it's never too serious. This is, after all, Short Round. And since he's over 50 at this point in his life, he often looks for shortcuts (like Indiana Jones). Maybe in his 30s he would do a running jump off of a rooftop to escape a bunch of goons. But in his 50s he would rather figure out a way to dispatch them without breaking his knees. That would bring in some of the Jackie Chan style physical comedy.
Think of it like this: If you're British intelligence, Hong Kong branch in 1975 and you need a job done. You would choose James Bond if you had the choice. But at this point, James Bond is in Thailand dispatching Francisco Scaramanga and his Golden Gun. So you go with the guy who isn't quite the best, but he's reliable. He's not too suave but he can blend in. He's goofy but still has connections all over the region, can blend in, speak 12 languages, and can tell a real Ming vase from a fake one at a glance. He cares deeply about artifacts so he hates the antiquities trade that has blown out of control following the Vietnam War. And he hates how the triads are benefitting from it. And if ever he has a problem? He has a very "specific" source in the US he communicates with via coded telegram 😉
I could go on but you get the gist. The point is, it could definitely work. It just needs a little direction.

It has its problems like Mutt swinging, the gophers, some of the CGI but it also has good parts like the opening, the motorbike chase, Marion coming back, Spalko, the jungle chase (if you can look past some of the CGI), Oxley, etc. When this film is on TV, I'll still watch it over Temple of Doom. But I really hope the new one ends up being a great movie that unites the fanbase after this one split us

I'm not too sure if this is allowed, but if I am to suggest a movie I think you might be interested in, I recommend the movie "Help" starring Jodie Comer. It's about a care-home worker in the midst of Covid. It's a fairly emotional movie, and I've seen you recently starting to attribute more mental health things into your videos, so I thought this would be a good suggestion. Anyways, great reaction as always, thank you for actually going in depth with certain things unlike most reactors, I feel it makes it more interesting :)

If you want movies with a message, I highly recommend the Star Trek films. Star Trek has always been a science fiction platform for examining and commenting on social issues and the human condition. While not all of the Star Trek films did this (the shows did far more), the majority did illustrate the human experience in some manner whether it was the human need to know who we are, aging and death (and hence life), friendship and sacrifice, conservation of biodiversity and the peril of extinction, the politics of the Cold War and Detente, the need to make a difference, the destructive danger of wrath, the forced relocation of cultures by more powerful ones, and the impact that our choices in life have on who we are. Star Trek: The Motion Picture through Star Trek: Nemesis will have some highs and lows but ultimately you'll get films with a deeper message than just spaceships and explosions.

While I dont really buy into the whole ancient aliens stuff I do enjoy the fantastical theories and think oh that would be so cool... But not real. Love Stargate for all that stuff its definitely in my top 10 tv shows of all time. Sadly its one of those shows the network love to go after youtubers for though. /sigh maybe someday the copyright nonsense will stop.. But thats as likely as the aliens having built the pyramids.

before this movie, on the tv show, Ancient Aliens, had an episode about the Crystal Skulls , which are a real thing, several skulls being found around the globe and no one knows how they were made, and the most famous one, the Mitchell Hedges Skull , seems to have some aura around it , suggesting that it is a computer? of some sort or information storage device , like a usb drive. but they said in that episode, that we don't know how to read or download the information stored in it, just like in the tv show Smallville, have you watched that tv show yet, if not, i highly recommend it.

-The nuclear blast and him surviving even in a lead lined fridge. He would've died from the impact of the fridge landing and his body would irradiated more than it showed and not mention that he was looking at a very close mushroom cloud(it would've blinded him).
-That god awful wig that Cate was wearing I never liked that hairstyle.
-The crappy alien CGI when it was whole again it was obvious.

You wanted to "perfectly" like it and all the positive elements, including one you mentioned, as well as the acting, the evolving character arcs, the co-star chemistry and dynamics, the sets, the sound score, the action scenes, the inspiration by mythology and ancient civilizations, etc., in effect do not count in the absolute, black and white assessment of the film.
