First of all, this was an awesome video and very informative. 👍👏👏👏 I'm about to pull the trigger on the same thing myself. But I had to go on and do my front brakes, because the right caliper was sticking. So I changed them and the rotors. I watched another guy who cut off the backing plate on the rear, because he didn't want to pull the axels. I want to do a posi on mine....soooo🤷♂️ I thought about going bigger calipers, but I'd like to put my 15x10s back on. Changing the calipers will more than likely have me not being able to put the factory wheels back on. Anyway great video again, and I subbed..👍
I did a bunch of research into swapping my 94 Step side, LS swapped, silverado, over to big brakes.. After looking at all the kits, and feeling frustrated, I built my own.. I bought Camaro SS Brembo 4 piston front calipers off of Ebay. Then I bought NEW from O'Reilly auto parts some 14.9" rotors from a Grand Cherokee.. all in-parts were less than $500.00 The calipers say Brembo-Chevrolet in red.. The truck absolutely STOPS now when I step on the brake pedal. I now need to move on to the rear, and again I will be using the Brembo calipers off the rear of a Camaro SS.. Not sure what size rotor I will be using on the rear yet.. but I've got time to figure that out...
Good kit, anyone else beware that if you do one side at a time and check if your ebrake is engaging and it’s not just do the other side then check again because I pulled all the slack out of one side until it engaged fully and then couldn’t get the other side cable to reach, had to undo it and struggle for an hour to get them even again.
A great mod that is not well known for the lowered OBS TRUCKS is the Belltech #6658 UPPER shock relocator for the rear shocks. Please do a video on this mod to get the word out. These OBS trucks have terrible rear shock angles. And even worse when lowered. That would be a good time to notch the bed brace that’s directly above the center section of the rearend. Love your videos.
Looks like a great upgrade. I’m considering this for my 98 K1500 Burb. That said, I have to comment on the sloppy steering and off-center steering wheel. Oh MAN that makes me crazy! Check your pitman arm for wear, and have the steering gear adjustment carefully set IF that’s part of the issue. That’ll make you think you have a new truck too! 👌🏻
i did new gear box, pitpamn/idler arm, all new tie rods, bearings, didnt help, after I changed my upper/lower control arms, new ball joints so now its 100% new and my steering it lose but no more than like an inch, which i can deal with since its a lot better than the 5-6 inch travel i used to have, Only thing i didnt change was the rag joint since it looks Ok but i will do that next, since other than that, I wouldnt know what else to do, I know it will never be like my 2016 Impala but I'd like it new as possible
This is exactly what I was looking at doing.. one question.. did your truck have the factory 1” rotor or 1.25”… I noticed they dont have upgraded calipers for the 1.0”.. I haven’t measured mine yet but I read the 1.0 was more common for standard cabs…
@michaelblackwell4686 what parts are you using for the front end rebuild? I have a 95 Z71 K1500 as well. I've been looking at the Kryptonite Products tie rods, ball joints, pitman arm, and center link. All their parts carry a lifetime warranty and they pretty much dare you to break them(these things are massive, 1⅝" hexagon solid center link!!)
Ok I have being seeing good comments about this brake kit but I am not sure I had installed this kit for my 96 obs and I had bleed the brakes replaced brake reservoir and having my brake pedal going all the way to the bottom it brakes but not like before with drum brakes
good job! thank you for explaining the ebrake as well. One question, you said go to box store to buy replacement brake pads for rear? What style caliper are they? What gm car/truck are they from to reference? Thanks!
actually got the kit and fixing to put it on today, question is though since my trucks getting painted and can't really break in the brakes, could i break in the brakes afterwards?
Like Your Conversion, My Question Is The Front Disc is de Same Diameter than the Old Ones ? And Now the four Of them are the same Diameter Or ? Hope You can Tell Me I would love to Do it On My Truck

I would be interested in seeing pictures of that. Email me. Twamotorsports at hotmail
Great tip. Thank you
Can I really not use the power bleeder?
@@haloelmo talking about the ebrake cable. Not the brakes
They say not to
Thanks for the info and i just put my order in
Awesome. Its great stuff
You didn’t have to take off the long bolt that’s why your breaks are falling 😂 but you got me searching already doing the conversion on mine 😎
It definitely looks and brakes better
A great mod that is not well known for the lowered OBS TRUCKS is the Belltech #6658 UPPER shock relocator for the rear shocks.
Please do a video on this mod to get the word out. These OBS trucks have terrible rear shock angles. And even worse when lowered.
That would be a good time to notch the bed brace that’s directly above the center section of the rearend.
Love your videos.
Thank you. I will check that out
Hey Travis I just discovered your videos I subscribed and just love when you work on that OBS truck I have one also👍
Thank you
Can I use those products you have to be able to swap my 4 drum brakes to 4 disc brakes
Doubtful
Looks like a great upgrade. I’m considering this for my 98 K1500 Burb.
That said, I have to comment on the sloppy steering and off-center steering wheel. Oh MAN that makes me crazy! Check your pitman arm for wear, and have the steering gear adjustment carefully set IF that’s part of the issue. That’ll make you think you have a new truck too! 👌🏻
Thank you. Its a great kit and people to deal with
i did new gear box, pitpamn/idler arm, all new tie rods, bearings, didnt help, after I changed my upper/lower control arms, new ball joints so now its 100% new and my steering it lose but no more than like an inch, which i can deal with since its a lot better than the 5-6 inch travel i used to have, Only thing i didnt change was the rag joint since it looks Ok but i will do that next, since other than that, I wouldnt know what else to do, I know it will never be like my 2016 Impala but I'd like it new as possible
Will never be a rack and pinion unfortunately
Great content I’m building a 89 2500 into a race truck/shop truck
Thank you.
This is exactly what I was looking at doing.. one question.. did your truck have the factory 1” rotor or 1.25”… I noticed they dont have upgraded calipers for the 1.0”.. I haven’t measured mine yet but I read the 1.0 was more common for standard cabs…
1.25 factory
@@TWAMotorsports ok, guess I’m gonna have to measure mine.. I would guess all the 5.7 trucks had the larger brakes though
92 and up I believe
Nice brake set up
Thank you
I’m wanting to do this to my 95 k1500 z71 since I’m rebuilding the front end soon so that be nice and put the braided lines in.
They make great stuff
@michaelblackwell4686 what parts are you using for the front end rebuild? I have a 95 Z71 K1500 as well. I've been looking at the Kryptonite Products tie rods, ball joints, pitman arm, and center link. All their parts carry a lifetime warranty and they pretty much dare you to break them(these things are massive, 1⅝" hexagon solid center link!!)
I’m using Detroit axle stuff and when I get the money I’m get some other stuff
Ok I have being seeing good comments about this brake kit but I am not sure I had installed this kit for my 96 obs and I had bleed the brakes replaced brake reservoir and having my brake pedal going all the way to the bottom it brakes but not like before with drum brakes
That's weird. No issues here
Great video my man. Very informative. First time coming across you. Definitely subbed. Looking forward to more OBS love! -95 k1500 starcraft edition
Thank you very much. Lots more to come
Shout to Little Shop of Horrors, the OG
For sure. Great guys to deal with.
Beautiful truck bro new subscriber
Thank you and thank you for subscribing
good job! thank you for explaining the ebrake as well. One question, you said go to box store to buy replacement brake pads for rear? What style caliper are they? What gm car/truck are they from to reference? Thanks!
I think a mustang lol. Ask little shop because I totally forgot
just bought the kit for my suburban
Awesome. You will love it.
actually got the kit and fixing to put it on today, question is though since my trucks getting painted and can't really break in the brakes, could i break in the brakes afterwards?
You could
you can bench bleed it on the truck, pretty ez,just pump the peddle,ad some grease inside master and pin also.
I was thinking about that after the fact
Hey sir good job on the upgrade … but where do I get the rear stainless line that sits on top of the diff that goes to the hardline on the rear
Comes with the kit
I think if if I was going that far I would have replaced the rear bearings and seals also. Just thinking forward.
Plan to do that down the road
Hey are u able to give a list of which ones u got please and thank u
Call them. They will tell you.
Great video, can you use the factory replacement brake pads in the future?
You can
When you go to autozone which make and model do the rear pads come from?
I thought mustang but they should be able to answer that
Nice truck
Thank you
Like Your Conversion, My Question Is The Front Disc is de Same Diameter than the Old Ones ? And Now the four Of them are the same Diameter Or ? Hope You can Tell Me I would love to Do it On My Truck
Fronts are thicker but I believe the same size. If I remember correctly the rears are a little smaller. Call little shop and they can help you out
I was wondering why you pulled the axles out. Seems like most kits are designed around that. There are a few kits for gmt400. This is the one I was looking at buying.
Dont have to but have to cut if not.
Idk why but pulling axles intimidates me . I shy away from anything axle related other than fluid changes.
You can cut then. It isn't hard. Just a few more steps
Went to their site... all I'm seeing is rear disc brakes. Haven't seen an option to do all 4. Please advise if I'm doing something wrong.
Call them.
The way your truck was sitting at 3:22. How much is it lowered.
4/6
Just finished mine. Kinda figured pads would be a little better for the $$$ lot of brake dust.
I haven't notice but tore apart soon after for repaint
@@TWAMotorsports Thanks for the video and discount code!
You're welcome. Hopefully it helps
Noticed you used dot 4 brake fluid. Should it not have been dot 3?
Can take either
What about the abs module? will it still work/communicate with the rear disc conversion? Or would you have to upgrade the module
Sure does
Do you need to use lock tight on the 4 bolts that hold the new bracket in place?
Probably wouldn't hurt
