This video helped me out so much. I've been wanting to become a PTA or a PT for a while, but I don't know where to start. I got a job as a medical supplier near my local hospital and have enough time to take education. There's this college that has a PT program. Tomorrow, they will contact me and get me rolling into it. I was also looking into online PT programs, but I haven't found one where it doesn't require a bachelor's degree. I'll keep you posted...
I'm 34 years old. I want to try this, PTA program, I never went to college , but I know I have to try, I'm in nyc , I already have my foot working in the medical field, the tuition i believe is $8,000 a year, , with financial aid helps a little bit, I'm apply for it, 2 years of hard work and studying
Yea 30, in Rochester NY, and after spending a lot of time lifting and working through certain pains especially in my lower back due to an injury and working around that to heal I've come to the realization that I do really want to help other people that have been in my shoes. Id love to hear how your journey is going!
@@Spartan-P brooooo this was me this morning 29 yrs old and This back pain of physical labor there’s enough of it. Tired of it. Want to change my life around and pursue something like this to help me out and have more knowledge on what I can do for myself and others.
I'm applying to PTA school and was going to do nursing but working in the medical field for 17yrs I realize that I don't want to do work in the ER anymore and definitely don't want to be a nurse. I thought about doing the nursing route to get to NP but I would have to work in the field in order to get into the NP program. I don't know if I'll be happy doing nursing so I know I loved personal training and wanted to take it to the next level but decided to keep going with my education and get my BS in biology to enter the PA program but it's very competitive and it's been 3yrs trying and I"m just wasting time. So, I know that I want to be a PT and feel that I will do great. I was looking into the DPT but my GPA is bad and I won't get in. I"m hoping to do the PTA and then go to DPT.
I am very interested in being a PTA!!!! Can anyone tell me what they liked or disliked about it? Also, how long it took for you to get a job after you graduated the program? As well as how competitive it is to get into the PTA program? And what tips and advice to give to a new student as far as studying/taking notes/materials to have? Hope to hear from someone soon :)
Do you have to have an associates degree to get into pta school ? So will my HS Diploma & prior experince in a nursing skilled facility as a rehab aide be exceptable ?
@@preptgrind thank you for responding. I have one more important question. Do u have to get volunteer hours at a physical therapy site before entering the program?
How difficult is the pta program? One of the schools in my area require 40hrs volunteer. Do you know if most places have volunteer hours in the even or weekends since I have a full time job.
1. Very difficult 2. Most clinics will have evening hours where you can observe and hospitals are open on weekends so you probably can observe in hospitals on the weekends
I am a PTA, the program is very demanding. It is hard and you will study until your brain starts to hurt. Especially with Kinesiology. But nothing worth having comes easy. I graduated with a 4.0 GPA at the age of 43. So if I can do it, so can you! Make it happen and good luck!!
You need to a competitive GPA. Along with a competitive ACT score. Otherwise you won’t even get a foot in the door. You’ll just be applying for nothing. The school you apply at should have a print out of the way they score applicants. But I’m here to tell you. C’s may get degrees in some cases, but C’s won’t get you in the program.

I really wish my college was more straight forward about requirements. I have the form in front of me and I still don't know what class to take.
Agreed. Time to call them up or go in person. Show them you’re serious despite them being unorganized
CAPTE accredits PTA schools too. You must graduate from a CAPTE accredited PTA school to get a license. He is wrong on that issue.
Very helpful video! Researching for my daughter in high school
This helped me , they just took away the GRE and Teas for lagurdia

1. What you have is acceptable.
2. No you don’t need an A.S to apply to PTA school. You get your A.S upon PTA school completion
You need to satisfied the pre-req

TYSM!
How do they expect observation hours? Where would you go to get observation hours under a pt
In a outpatient clinic or a hospital
Youll do clinical rotations during the program...
So I’d have to go to community college to get my pre-requisite classes first?
You don’t have to but i recommend it because it’s cheaper to start there
@@preptgrind thank you for responding. I have one more important question. Do u have to get volunteer hours at a physical therapy site before entering the program?
@@Rawyalty220 Yes they're called observation hours and the hours must be signed off on by a physical therapist
Great video👍🏼
Appreciate you!
"just just a little...alll night long" I love Charlie Puth lol
Would i need any certificate if i already have my bachelors in health, physical education?
No. You don’t need a certificate in anything to apply to PT school
Can in get my PTA certificate online?
No
If you have money 💰 you are in PTA school if it is a private for profit school 🏫
Great info
Appreciate you! Thanks for watching!

You if you have a bachelors degree you don’t need anymore certifications for either. you can apply to PT or PTA school.
