Best advice on the Internet! One of the very, very, very few honest PT folks who have the balls to talk truth. So, kudos dude! PT is a mess and is only getting messier. Student loan debt for a DPT of dubious necessity, mandated by the powers that be, was the trigger getting pulled. This profession is nothing but a limp dick in healthcare. Why would anyone pay for the nonsense that Physios are fed in pre-licensure programs when others can do it better, cheaper, or, when you can find out what you need online? RUclips has every exercise known to humankind. Wearable AI technology is further rendering the clinician redundant and obsolete. It doesn't take a uni degree to do this, ffs! A few weekend workshops offered to the public at the local community centre are sufficient. Anything else is propaganda pumped out by incompetent hacks at the APTA (choose the acronym for your country). It is the biggest scam going and it starts by ripping off students who then fall into the trap of this career. Run away from PT as if you are being chased by zombies!

Avoid PT altogether. It's a goofy cult of doctor wannabes, using poorly supported pseudoscientific gobbledygook to sell people on interventions that are no better than placebo.

Consider yourself lucky. PT is not at all as big a deal as you might imagine. The attrition rate of those physios quitting the profession is higher than any other in healthcare. If it was so great, people wouldn't leave in droves like they do. Don't be a blind follower into this world of goofy, immature, poorly researched garbage. Choose a better path for a career.

PT has been dying slowly for decades. Over-credentialed, under-skilled, poorly-evidenced pseudoscience offered by mostly white-privileged, young women. Inferiority complex+++. Save your money and choose another profession.

There are a lot of negatives from Physios (Australian Jargon) on the REDDIT feed I joined. The REDDIT group has PTs from all around the world who have joined up. I am not a PT yet, but I will be starting a course in March. I must admit that hearing and reading these comments makes you second-guess. The financial reward is a gripe. If you're chasing dollars, becoming a dentist is probably more your thing. Shorter degree as well.

Hello, do you know if anywhere in Miami they doing any internships. I’m currently studying physical therapy and I want to have intern somewhere to see how it is.

But with that being said. In the United States, if you have a masters or a bachelors in physical therapy, you cannot take the licensing exam? Do you need a doctor to physical therapy to take the licensing exam?

Make a name for yourself as an athletic trainer and a strength coach and you’ll end up working with doctors physicians, and everything everything above with some high profile athletes that’s what I’ve done and it’s worked wonders
