Jim Carrey hopping around and making crazy noises as he tries to transform during the day is still my favorite bit.
You're the absolute best reacter I've ever seen, and it's precisely because of something you mentioned - that you get to totally be yourself in front of us. So it made me sad that you can't be the same out in the real world. It's too bad they can't see the real you, the YOU that is so free-spirited and loves herself.

The "Give a damn" line is from Gone With The Wind and the "You really do love me" line was said by Sally Field when she won the Oscar for Not Without My Daughter (I think it was that movie). The Mask is based on a comic that was much darker and more violent, in fact more than one person has worn the mask. Stanley Ipkiss only wore it once and he got killed after the 1st issue, Lt. Kellaway actually wore the mask in one issue and he basically became the main character who tried to find the mask so nobody would wear it, cause whenever you became The Mask you became a mix of Jim Carrey's Mask and Dorian's Mask. The Mask wasn't even called The Mask, he was called "The Big Head Killer". There was even a cartoon show based on the movie which was actually really good.

Anna Nicole Smith, Vanessa Williams, Jeri Ryan, Paige French, Melissa Moore, Kelly Rutherford, India Allen, and Kristy Swanson were considered for Tina Carlyle, before Diaz was cast.
Jack Nicholson, Willem Dafoe, Dennis Hopper, Robert DeNiro and Rupert Everett were considered for the villain.
John Heard, Warren Beatty and Pierce Brosnan were almost cast as Lt. Kellaway.
i like the bad guy, i actually do, (he is a good opposite to Carrey's Mask and shows why most people would be a terrible choice to wear the mask, they would be legitimately a bad guy and out of control) though seeing that list of who could have been cast as the villain... we could have gotten Joker 2 (Batman 89), Green Goblin (a decade earlier), Dennis Hopper (Apocalypse Now or Blue Velvet with cartoon powers), Goodfellas gangster (dialed to like 20) or Eviler Prince Charming (from Shrek 2)
not to say any would be better or the movie worse, but it would be different and maybe only PG13 in the 90s
also no one would be the Mask other than Jim Carrey, all or most are funny and some could be a living cartoon.... imagine a green genie, but JIm Carrey was basically a cartoon and a h3ll of an actor (not just comedian)... the role is almost unimaginable without him
what would Keanu Reeves been like as the Mask, it might have been more like the comic book

Kick ass video Vanessa! I remember going to see the Mask with my Mum as a pre-teen and really enjoying it. It was Diaz's first big role and she became the IT girl for awhile. Loved your reactions once again. Should be a fun ride seeing you do other Carrey films. The Cable Guy would be a fun one.

Interesting movie fact? The automotive repair shop is the Ghostbusters HQ. The actual inside of the fire station is in LA and the outside facade is of course Hook & Ladder, Company 8 fire station in New York City

The Mask(1994) is based on a dark, grisly, violent Dark Horse comic book. It took on a more fun tone after the Jim Carrey movie came out. Charles Russell directed the 1988 Blob remake.

i love the 1988 Blob, if it wasn't so horrific, it could almost qualify as a horror comedy and still holds up (seen it like a month ago)
Greatest childhood movie I ever watched as a kid! Best dog on planet Earth Milo especially when he gets to express himself with the mask LOL I remember right on the special features of the DVD I think they say Cameron Diaz did sing parts of the song like half of it and then the rest was dubbed or whatever how they do it if I remember right it's a long time since I've watched the special features I don't know if it's on the Blu-ray release for special features

I remember seeing this back in the 90's when it was new' its as good now as it was back then and still just as funny!

This movie was my childhood lol
The comic it's based on was *way* more violent and bloody sometimes. This looks like a kid's version of it. But there were enough gory violent 90s movies, so in hindsight maybe it was a good choice. The deaths and bloodiness might have been too graphic in movie format.
I definitely remember every actor in the 90s copying Jim Carrey's comedic style after this movie came out. What a (loveable) nutcase. You should react to the Ace Ventura movies too. Funny stuff....

I have the hardest time picturing anyone other than _Jim Carrey_ in the main part of this movie. I don't know. Maybe Jim Varney. He was still around in '94 and he was pretty famous.
