I expect to see plenty of S550's and S197's at dealerships from people who don't know any better trading in for the S650. It will be a great opportunity to pick one up at a decent price.
I hate when people call the first yr of anything a dud. I remember this was the same stuff that was said with the s550 amd s197 their first yr. And within 2 years people changed their minds. So give it time. The s550 was slower too that first year it came out. Also it's hot af outside and most s550 that ran 11's did so in the cool weather. But oh well people will buy them or not. This country is trucks and suv.. that's where the cash is. A car has been a bonus. But all of the big 3 have given us the same car for years. So I say wait and I'll give it 1-2 years just as the s550. Then decide
No it wasn't actually. People like you keep making excuses for it and keep trying to compare it to previous generations and it's just not the same. None of those cars you mentioned looked anything like the previous generation inside or out. They didn't look more like w refresh than an all new car and tuning was available right away. The s550 ran similar times to s197 5.0 vs 5.0 because they were little heavier with irs and only had 15 more hp but they at least had good potential modified they had a much more stout bottom end and tuning available right away. This new car that isn't the case. People just keep saying they'll figure it out but this is all new territory we have never dealt with anything like this in the mustang world. I don't think it'll ever be fully tunable outside Ford approved tunes which suck because they're overly conservative among other things. This is nothing like any of the previous generations.
@midnight347 people did say the same thing about the s550. Then ended up getting one. As far as tuning. Everyone bitching about that. Cars 3 times as much as a mustang have been locked and had their ecu unlocked. I'm seeing people complaining because they actually have to do something for the first time in 15 yr to Crack the ecu. The turners actually can't cheat the system and be lazy. They actually have to be a turners. So good thing is that the crap turners are doomed. The good ones will have it cracked. Too much aftermarket support for the Mustang in general. Also it's only locked because of EPA. Probably has a soft lock unlike the vett. But there were alot of the same complaints about the s550. Then after 2 yrs the car was good. So give this car time. We comparing a 3 month old car to an 8 year old car. All them mf had growing pains and turned out great after yr 2. So imma still to that.
I have a 2020 anniversary edition pp1 premium I thought about making the jump but after watching and hearing the facts I’m keeping her thanks for all the info 👍🏻
Lol. No they aren’t, maybe just you. Our dealer has sold 5 in the last 2 weeks snd can’t keep up. Plenty of people buying them. I’m seeing them all over town.
Thank you for reassure me on my decision 4 months ago I bought a Shelby GT350 2019 with 7k miles for 62k the car is stock first time i bought a used car this expensive but i couldn't get over that dashboard screens and the dealership mark ups 😂😂😂 And Thank you Ford probably the value of the GT350 and GT500 will stay up
Motor trend got a 3.7 second 0 to 60 out of the Dark Horse. That time is inline with the 500 HP rating. Ran a 12 flat. The car isn’t that bad. If I didn’t already have a Boosted S550 that I love as well as a C7 I’d consider one. There isn’t a single new car introduced where people don’t back out of the purchase even if they put a order in for it. This isn’t a Mustang exclusive situation.
@@AB-coyote NO, BONE STOCK as in complete stock tires. Hell even Justins personal white 2019 Mustang GT from American Muscle ran stock 11's on heavy ass 20" wheels no less and I know how heavy those wheels are because my car was optioned with them. LOTS of people ran 11's bone stock in 18-20 Mustang GT's. The only common denominator that I see between them is they had a 10R80 and 3.55 rear gear option. My personal car ran a 12.4 in 3500 DA and the 1-2 shift completely fucked up for some reason throwing my ass forward. It was the only run I ever got completely stock. It would have for sure been at least a low 12 if not for the trans mess up.
It is that bad. People ran 11.8 at 117 with slicks only in 2012 boss 302s over 10 years ago and they only had 444 hp. People just keep making excuses for the bs.
This guy is entertaining as hell but needs to seriously chill out. The vast majority of new Mustang buyers will never race them so not obsessed about whether or not a S650 is 1/10 of a second different in performance than the S550. Refused deliveries will be zapped up by anyone just wanting the latest model and not willing to wait months for an order. Protesting by not buying a new Mustang will not force Ford to increase its HP. It would merely justify Ford's dropping of its last car. Be careful what you wish for.
Because of how much it cost it is disappointing. I got my brand new 2019 GT Premium 10R80 20" wheel option Nav Ruby Red option for $39k before any down or anything in late 2018. That same options car is over $60k today. 20RWHP and maybe 1 tenth and 1mph isn't worth that much price difference when you can get a gen 3 and put $20k into it and have a monster for the same price.
My son bought a ‘24 GT performance package. 2 weeks in I traded him keys, gave him my ‘22 GT/CS. He LOVES it! I don’t mind the ‘24, but I wanted him to know how good and almost perfect S550 felt, he deserves it. I’ll keep the ‘24 for a day to day car, I’m on the hunt for a Fighter Jet Gray Mach 1.
Good for you, bro. Half the guys on this chat are complaining just to complain. They don't drive their cars hard enough to even notice any real difference between the S550 and the S650.
Well I just got mine and let me tell you, performance wise maybe not an improvement, but otherwise this car is an absolute improvement over my 18 10speed. The transmission in the new car so vastly superior. It's super smooth and no more clunkyness. It's more quite inside the cabin, the ride and suspension for the magnaride is improved and so is the general fit and finish as well as interior having much nicer materials. Overall I'm super happy with the car. Would I have liked more power faster car. Of course but I still have a brand new muscle car and it's the only one available
Why you hating on ford so much, in a world where electic cars and suvs are taking over and the stringant new emission laws at least ford produced an updated V8 manual coupe. Camaros, challengers, chargers etc are all done. At least they offer something and put effort forth to refresh and modernize it a bit. I have a 22 performance package and while the s650 isnt enough for me to want one at least they continue to offer one. Dark horse is over priced for what it is but im sure they will come down after the “i will take it no matter the price” people get theirs first lol
Because I'm not going to give them a free pass for sucking regardless if electric cars are the future.. it doesn't give them a free pass to screw their customers
I refused delivery of mine a month ago. Delays, slow, retarded screens, no flex fuel, just a refresh. Got a 2020 GT Premium PP1 10 speed with 6k miles instead. Still have an 1100hp Corvette Grand Sport for when I want to go fast. If I want the S550 fast, just TT the thing and that's that. No S650 bs for me.
My 2020 401A GT/CS had 9k miles on it when I got it and I got it for 38k, people are going to be paying markup on BASE GT’s which will probably be at least 45k to be slower than a Gen 3 and possibly a Gen 1/2 and that’s just ridiculous. Ford bouta learn we cannot be repeating the 3V era.
Considering the ‘24 is quicker than the previous models I doubt it. And there are no markups on these cars. I’ve looked at over 20 dealers researching these cars. Fully loaded gt can be had for high 50’s if you look for them.
This guy is 100% correct. But people always want the NEW thing. They always want to make their previous gen, more like the new cars. Look at all the new aftermarket headlights and taillights. So they will buy the new car.
Somebody brought it up and after just putting my ESS g3 kit on my 2019 I cant imagine changing the belt on the Whipple kit. AT LEAST one intake MUST be removed, and likely both. That or maybe get to it from the bottom and remove the splash pan on a lift? Going to be a process to do on the side of the road with a hot engine.
When I first heard about the dual TB, I was excited. But the way they did it does like silly. Every other dual TB setup I’ve seen is similar to the GTR you mentioned, with dual plenum intake design(same with BMW, and Ferrari). It looks like ford just slapped to throttle bodies on the front of the same 18-23 intake manifold 🤦🏻
The 650 is a sweet car dont listen to anyone here I have a little over 1000 miles on mine and absolutely love everything about the car I also had a 2015 GT and their is no comparison
I have seen dynos where people pulled the traps out, takes 5 minutes and they gained around 15hp to the WHEEL. Why not just do that? I dont give a shit about emissions, its a V8, sucks if you live in a place where it does matter though.
My 2020 GT makes 780HP at the wheels with a Procharger D1-X with a 120MM Pulley (12 psi), Fore Fuel System, E85 and PBD Dyno tune on Mickey Thompson 305 tire (lost 20HP) through a stock 10R80. It does have long tubes and no cats, stock resonator, stock cat back. I basically have 4 mods and made 800HP on the largest pulley Procharger makes.
For this S650 hater, the interior is a superior upgrade already, the exterior styling in person is another upgrade. Just wait until the unlock, it will be even better.
Man your sooo right my buddy got a dark horse, it's faster then my 14 gt but I'm doing boss intake manifold jlt intake tuned at dyno shop maybe I'll be better off lol, gen 1 is definitely lighter
I believe the 2024 Mustang GT weighs around 3,8xx lbs, unless convertible then around 4,000. A 2019 for comparison is 3,7xx. Not as massive of a difference, not sure where the 4,100lb number is coming from.
4100 is a stupid quote but options for options its about a 100lb difference. Its a good $20k more than the 18-19 GT cars option kit for option kit new vs new for a gain of about 1mph and 1 tenth quicker car. To me its just not worth it.
@@ShizawnSandersAll this itching over 100 pounds of weight? I don't know if anyone else noticed but cost of living has gone way up in the last 18 months. It's almost like people are so involved in social media that they are completely blind to what is going around them. Dealerz that think they are somehow deserving to charging a market surcharge need to give their head a shake. Call it what it is, gouging. Perhaps the idea is to get a bunch of guys to target one specific dealer and place an order for a uniquely equipped car and when it comes in change your mind. Make sure before that your deposit is refundable.
Dual throttle bodies allows for more airflow up top with more throttle response down low assuming theyre using dbw to close 1 throttle body during low torque demand. Imagine DOD but for the intake.
Not just that Alex, then u add 50+ k for the Premium GT and its over 65k with the whipple kit, let’s not even talk about the black horse with a whipple, 100k plus 😝 C8 all the way for 85k
What they should do for the carbon trap setup is have the TB's default to full seal when depowered and then use a seperate port with a valve and a vacuum pump or something like that through the carbon filter, get it out of the way. Just my $.02 Commence the clowning Also if they add 20 horsepower and manage to drop 50-100lbs on the next update, this thing will SLAY.
The carbon filter showed it isn't affecting power I've actually seen some removing them and hurt power only by a few which could have been heat vs the filters themselves
On my 2015 Whipple kit, there’s a carbon filter on the inside of the airbox lid. This “filter in the airstream” is an evolution of that and I can only imagine how ass the next iteration will be. Maybe they will stick a catalyst in there.
Do you think we'd be able to make a single MAF housing that holds both MAFs for that while kit and not have issues? I'd imagine that could work and not affect engine codes
@@scarce331 only issue with that is the ECU will see two 100% identical MAF signals and there might be coding for that. With two MAFs is a single housing there might be just enough of a signal differential to not kick a code

Seriously, they put all the HVAC on the touch screen? All set, if I wanted to be distracted like a Tesla driver playing on a touch screen while driving, I'd..well lets not go that far. Cool car, all our parts basically fit it, all I need to know. Like my $33K 2015 Base GT PP with 20K miles on it that owes me nothing, and it has knobs that I can touch without thinking....and weighs in at 3700 pounds not Hellcat Container ship land mass. I followed a Hellcat around for a couple laps on a roadcourse in 2015 in my bone stock car, yep the HC was fast in the straight but didnt take long to lap them. There is a reason it has the styling cues of a Charger, Ford is signalling Dodge boys with ours is now overweight and slow as well. The biggest thing no one talks about is why Ford used a new name, Darkhorse. They are making a culture shift from the Mustang heritage, purposely. I can buy Darkhorse at Cumberland Farms. At least I get something from it.
I got my grabber blue 24 gt manual for $43,000, my favorite car ive ever had, so many salty cry babies in here, buy what you like and stfu about it, let people enjoy things, most people dont go to the drag strip
Oh shit I live near that dealership 😂in south texas and I would not be surprised if that 2024 mustang sits for months also on a side note there are dealerships near that one that have 2024 mustang gt sitting there
When I ordered mine last week, I got a price guarantee that the sale price cannot be any higher than what it was when I built it and gave them my downpayment. It can go down though if any rebates or other discounts become available
All the nay sayer and hater will end changing there mind like every generation. No different when people were not fornthe ess cause it was a "copy" that's didn't last long. Time will tell but a dyno is a pointless tool imho to.dictate a car.
Not everyone, in fact most people dont give a dime about these astronomical hp numbers your whining about. The price increase YES I absolutely agree with you that its ridiculous. In general nice product at a bad price point.
Exactly. When I saw the s650 I was confused. It looks like my S550 but… diabetic. Swollen, and an American muscle catalog puked on it, including that dumb intake and “dark horse.”. I was hoping for a lighter more retro design. Why tf another S550? It’s a great platform but look at the bronco. People who hate ford love it because it’s sweet as fuck and looks like an old bronco and performs good enough. There’s nothing special about the S6SHITTY.
A 24 premium with performance and magna tips in at nearly 62k. An then you have to buy a 12 to 14k supercharger upgrade. So I spent roughly 80k to still lose to a Supercharged S550. An this only makes economic sense to a complete idiot. Flat out just not enough bang for the hype and dollar. If I purchase a new one ,just buy the Ecoboost and load it on options. It’s good daily commuter but it’s weak on performance.
Doubt it as That is an expensive Research and development working on a refresh of the car they would not waste money if they can’t return profit or to deliberately fail the sales so they can cancel the mustang out the market.
Ford thinks :: If we've been buying that shitty MT82 transmission'd Mustang since 2011, we will buy this stupid throttle bodied , fatter , slower Mustang too
Eh, quit buying it and watch them turn all of the Mustangs to an electric POS (not just the Escape-EV....er....I mean Mustang Mach-E). If it was 10 years ago, I'd say....Yep...don't buy it. But at this point, I feel like this is a death sentence for the TRUE Mustang.
I will HAPPILY stick with my gen 2 coyote. My 2v seems more exciting then this s650. Not worth it unless your buying a overpriced darkhorse (witch is what the gt of this gen shouldve been). They missed with this one unfortunately

*LMR dyno a stock ecu ctsv with kong ported blower made 530 whp😅*
What's your point?
Insanity but Alehandro is right. I’m keeping my s550 and start with the mods .
Dual throttle bodies allows for more airflow up top with more throttle response down low assuming theyre using dbw to close 1 throttle body during low torque demand. Imagine DOD but for the intake.
I miss my 2012 gt 5.06spd should’ve kept it!!! Bolt ons and had around 500 crank!! Plenty of power and pulled a Tesla p100d in 3rd gear👍🏻😝
Not just that Alex, then u add 50+ k for the Premium GT and its over 65k with the whipple kit, let’s not even talk about the black horse with a whipple, 100k plus 😝
C8 all the way for 85k
Does the dual intake turn back into single as soon as you add a supercharger?
Not according to whipple. Seems like it's dual MAF hard coded
I like this dude lol
"Gapped by a scat pack that just did a slideshow" someone needs to clip that hahhaha
The only thing I will be buying from Ford is FL-1A oil filters for my foxbody.
Well put! I agree! These new mustangs are why I have a project roller 1986 T-Top coupe with capri fenders I’m building with an efi 351 Windsor😈👍🏻
Big power TT setups might work better
The twin intake feels like a gimmick.
What they should do for the carbon trap setup is have the TB's default to full seal when depowered and then use a seperate port with a valve and a vacuum pump or something like that through the carbon filter, get it out of the way.
Just my $.02
Commence the clowning
Also if they add 20 horsepower and manage to drop 50-100lbs on the next update, this thing will SLAY.
Nailed it
I drove both a Ecoboost and a gt s650, and I was disappointed in both.
2018 gt would do 12.1 stock , and 2024 gt would do 12.4 stock . Not much of difference but for being a “newer car” that’s not good .
Great video brother, feels good hearing my slow ass 2.3 tvs 2016 roush at 650whp is relevant compared to these new pos cars lmao
Any of the previous mustangs that can be tuned have far more potential than this overpriced turd.
Why do people keep on saying it’s heavier, I’ve seen a coupe of actual tests vs similarly equipped S550 and they weigh the same
Do you think we'd be able to make a single MAF housing that holds both MAFs for that while kit and not have issues? I'd imagine that could work and not affect engine codes
better off having a harness that connects both pigtails to a single maf
@@scarce331Yep this would make more sense and not give you potential issues with MAF placement on a single cold air/ charge pipe.
@@scarce331 only issue with that is the ECU will see two 100% identical MAF signals and there might be coding for that. With two MAFs is a single housing there might be just enough of a signal differential to not kick a code

You know it’s bad when a scat pack runs a quicker 1/4 mile 😂

Scats are actually good at the quarter
Ill say this and say it again when the S650 came out is I'm keeping my 2019 S550🤷♂️
You should start tuning LS3s. I’d love for you to look at my file 😈
Fuck no
If I can't do anything I want to MY car that I want, then do I really own the car? Ford can void the warranty yes that is fine but to not allow me to tune My own car is absurd.
My 08 gt makes 560hp 485RWHP.. 440 ftlb torque with a pro charger and looks alot better. I will stick with her fractions of the cost.
never that !!!keep my 17 with gt350 everything and Ess gx3..
41:10 real shit right there 😂
The Whipple supercharger intake looks like my supercharged jaguar intake which is pretty a coyote anyway.
MY FUQIN car and I can do what I want with it.
So...this new mustang almost as heavy as a scat pack and the scat makes much more torque
I got my grabber blue 24 gt manual for $43,000, my favorite car ive ever had, so many salty cry babies in here, buy what you like and stfu about it, let people enjoy things, most people dont go to the drag strip
No, and those people also eat hot dogs with their butthole.
Oh shit I live near that dealership 😂in south texas and I would not be surprised if that 2024 mustang sits for months also on a side note there are dealerships near that one that have 2024 mustang gt sitting there
Guy local to me just backed out of his dark horse cuz dealer marked it up 25k and didn’t tell him until he went to pick it up. Got pics for proof lol
I tell you man people are ridiculous they act like they are experts on things they know nothing about.
I hope its more people finally telling dealers to go fvck themselves with ADM. Also this car so far is a Dud. Id assume stock timing sucks.
100% is a dud.
Someone ran 12.4 quarter mile on a Maverick truck with just bolt ons. Sad just sad what they did with this neutered gen Stang.
Im actually considering selling this pos. But the windshield broke and its on back order for a month 💀
Great show Alex
My only issues with this car are the pricing and that damned rear diffuser.
Finally a mustang for dodge owners to latch onto 😂
Not everyone, in fact most people dont give a dime about these astronomical hp numbers your whining about. The price increase YES I absolutely agree with you that its ridiculous. In general nice product at a bad price point.
A product slower than previous gen and 10k more expensive.
Dumb take
Someone has to pay for that 30,000 dollar loss per EV that they take.
They should cal it the new Ford Bustang. It's a bust. LOL
Add the whipple weight
They marketed the S650 to the euro tail light clear side marker kids. Everyone else knows better.
I couldn't help but laugh my ass of the whole video. You just lost to a Scat pack that did a slide show...😂😂😂😂
The front end is ugly. The GTD Mustang nose is sooo much better looking. I hope they adopt that look for the regular models quickly.
maybe ford did it on purpose to have an excuse to finally kill the mustang and blame it on low sales
Doubt it as That is an expensive Research and development working on a refresh of the car they would not waste money if they can’t return profit or to deliberately fail the sales so they can cancel the mustang out the market.
Ford thinks :: If we've been buying that shitty MT82 transmission'd Mustang since 2011, we will buy this stupid throttle bodied , fatter , slower Mustang too
But its not fatter or slower so what you say is stupid.
Won’t be the last ice mustang, maybe v8 but nobody wants an EV mustang and fords massive ev losses proves that.
Gee, you think it may be because of Bidenomics? Economy sucks .... Thx Joe....
C8 ALL DAY!!!’ An this is from a Mustang fanatic
Eh, quit buying it and watch them turn all of the Mustangs to an electric POS (not just the Escape-EV....er....I mean Mustang Mach-E). If it was 10 years ago, I'd say....Yep...don't buy it. But at this point, I feel like this is a death sentence for the TRUE Mustang.
I will HAPPILY stick with my gen 2 coyote. My 2v seems more exciting then this s650. Not worth it unless your buying a overpriced darkhorse (witch is what the gt of this gen shouldve been). They missed with this one unfortunately
EXACTLY the same weight as its predecessor.
