So you are basically eating to live and not living to eat. It took me a while to understand that. Food is fuel and we need to respect it for that, not make it the source of comfort.

@@HealyMeans Let's be real, I am not good at it. But there are some things I think are helpful.
For one, start off with a breakfast of protein and fat. That really helps me start the day right. Think of eggs and cheese on toasted bread. If I have cereal for breakfast I am screwed. But eggs in the morning gives me the energy I need.
So to start, focus just on breakfast. You need energy and you want that energy to last up until lunch. Just try it for a week, you know? See how you feel in the morning and if it works for you then, work on lunch.
Here in New Orleans food is a huge part of our culture down here. We eat to celebrate anything and everything. It took me a long time to realize this and to be proactive in changing the way I celebrate my goals, holidays, etc. I'm still learning! A few years ago I lost 80lbs on my own, the old fashioned way; I've gained it back and now am looking into VSG. Any advice would be appreciated

I’m so happy for you. I had the vertical sleeve gastrectomy March 16. It’s the best journey I’ve gone through in life. I’ve lost 68 pounds so far. It’s still a journey and I have to learn my stomach every week. Something new all the time but it’s the best. Congrats 🎉🍾

Congratulations on your surgery. I will be having a "Revision" next month. I got a sleeve in 2015 and it gave me acid reflux so bad I qualified to get a gastric bypass. I'm struggling to get this covid19 weight off so that I can lose weight before my 2 week liquid diet! Pray for me. And keep up the good work💜

Glad to see you so happy Ms. Faye 😁 I lost over 50 pounds after having my son and fitting into clothes that I haven’t been able to fit into is 1 of the best feelings in the world 🙌🏾 It will take time to get to your goal weight, but keep going and never give up. I believe in you 💪🏾

I am so happy and proud for you my luv. I’ve been the support for 2 immediate family members that have had the bypass. My mom and youngest brother. I was there from the meetings they require you to attend before being approved for surgery, and during recovery and thereafter. Please know everything you’ve been through is normal down to the surgery scars. You are doing exceptionally well in staying on top of eating correctly post surgery. If you continue taking your vitamins and especially remaining consistent with your protein consumption (liquid vitamin and/or food) your hair should be just fine. That sickness you feel for overeating or eating sugar...girl, it’s not worth the episode of extreme nausea. Stay strong. I’m so excited for you and your future beautiful baby (babies? 😉). Congratulations mama, you’ll be at 100% without the fatigue faster than you think! Enjoy the journey and the gifts this weight loss grants you. You got this!!! 😘😘😘

Yaaaassss Lawd, that raising canes be on point...We ate it 4 times while we were in STL for 2 days because we couldn’t get enough...We’re getting one in Springfield, Mo. and it can’t open up fast enough...You look so beautiful and we can definitely see the difference even though it’s just been a month...You look happier and I’m glad this hasn’t been a painful recovery for you...Hopefully your sleep pattern returns soon, you definitely need your rest...Continued prayers and blessings sent your way...🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾

Congrats on your surgery! When I had my breast reduction I was on pain meds and they had me bugging with my mouth and I couldn't sleep as well. Hopefully once you are off the meds the mood swings will get better.

Try the grain quinoa for protein. It's very healthy and low in fat. Make sure it is fully cooked before you eat it. Broccoli is also another great source of protein.

I'm doing this nutrition group for 15 weeks with the VA. If it doesn't work, they recommend me for surgery. I have tried and tried to lose weight and never lost a pound. I'm so fed up. I'm gonna try this program one more time, hoping it works. You're looking good though. I just turned 40. I don't have kids or want them at this point. I just need it for health reasons.
The discipline you're using during this process, apply during pregnancy and you wont have weight gain. Eating for 2 only applies to nutrients. Dont eat twice as much food, please lol

I also need to add that people actually gain the most weight those first 3 months after pregnancy because you're not as active and soooo tired, as well as your hormones being out of wack. So be mindful of that as well.
