This video just broke 3000 views. That's the most views any of my videos have gotten. A huge thank you to all of you for watching/subscribing. Another huge thanks goes out to Steve Good for mentioning both the video and my work. I deeply appreciate what you've done for me and for the scroll sawing community.
I'm going to have to give the spiral blade a try. I've actually used the spiral blade, but always wants to travel where I don't want it to go...lol. Practice makes perfect, I reckon. You proved that in this vid. This makes ya want to get out in the wood shop. Thanks for the share of your beautiful scrolling. :)
Charles the signs turned out amazing I want to try that how thick was the wood you used and what size of blade for the letters keep up the great scrolling I’ll never be as good as you but I just would like to try scrolling I love watching your videos
Congrats on the 3000 views, Charlie, I too am hooked on spiral blades from Mike, and had been for years. I noticed that you did not adhere your pattern to the wood, and that is the problem I am having with the signs like you cut out. I've even tried the double sided roll of tape that's new. Can you enlighten me of how you do it? Great video, by the way, I subscribed. Thanks.
Good hands Charles great job the sign says it all I am going to take a whole new look at my spiral blades which ones do you like and happy Thanksgiving to you and yours
That is one great piece off work ,I have been sent some spiral blades tried them out on some M.D.F. and got quite a rough finish, but it seems you get a good finish on your work, is it because you use wood instead of man made boards.
Beautiful work! I am impressed and inspired! I am hoping to purchase a good quality scroll saw in the near future. Would you please share with me what brand/model you are using? Thank you.
i didn't get to see how you changed the blades to start a new cut each time for a new letter. Did you have to take the blades off for each letter since the letters weren't connected?
When you give these out, do you put a backer on? I find putting a backer on makes the letter pop out more, but it is sort of a pain. Just curious how you do it.
Hey. How did you create the design to apply to the wood? I would love to make this sign for my mother in laws bday! If you have the image still maybe you could send it to me
I have a design that I drew up.... similar concept.... could you make me a custom piece? I unfortunately don't own a scroll saw.... and I'm limited with my Dremel... love this piece!
I always thought that stack cutting with a spiral blade was ill advised due to the tear out potential as well as the possibility of the blade breaking since a spiral blade isn't as strong as a regular blade.
Mike L Tear out has never been a problem for me and yes, spirals do break quicker than straight blades, but are useable. Depending on how thick the stack is, you may have to cut slower though to avoid flexing the blade too much.
Thank you very much. I believe I discuss them in the "scroll sawing basics" video, not sure. I use #3 and #5 Flying Dutchman spiral blades. I believe I used #3's on this project.
Never have any luck with the spiral blades, always snap on me like guitar strings. Can you recommend any with stronger tensile strengths? Also, beautiful work man.
+Charles Dearing I just started using these blades. It takes some practice but I really like them! You make it look easy. Thanks for your time and sharing the videos!! Ken
Love your work. Want to do something like this for my new Grandson. Only thing I want to do different is to build a frame and back light it with a led strand.
I much prefer spiral blades, they are so much easier to use. I have to flatten the ends of mine though as my scroll saw prefers the regular blades with the 't' top. Great video!
Those are real nice Charles! I like Keith's design with the small letters running through the larger ones.
Thanks Steve. I do too. It inspired to design some of my own (with different words)
Those came out beautiful.
Thanks Charles! You're the best! Looks great!
Hi Charles.
It's great watching a Maestro at work.

+William Donnelly I honestly don't know why lol.
nice work will try it soon
Great video. Started working with spiral blades but no luck. I keep on breaking them. could it be the tension or speed?
Nice work !!!
Thank you very much
I will try to learn by waching your videos thaks to you man!!
Beautiful work! I am impressed and inspired! I am hoping to purchase a good quality scroll saw in the near future. Would you please share with me what brand/model you are using? Thank you.
Thanks. I'm using a Hegner 18 inch in this video.
+Charles Dearing
Thank you!
awesome vid buddy
Than you very much
He uses the blade just like a router. Cool.
Thank you very much
i didn't get to see how you changed the blades to start a new cut each time for a new letter. Did you have to take the blades off for each letter since the letters weren't connected?
pls how did u attach it together . great job
Is there a pattern available for this project?
Yes. You can purchase it at sheilalandrydesigns.com
Great Work Charlie! I'm a new follower of your channel. Lots of great info!
Thank you very much Michael
How thick was each peace of wood? Nice cutting.
George Nava Thank you George. Each piece was 1/8 thick
Incredible work 👍 I've been really thinking about getting into scrolling myself.
Hello Charles,
Very nice work and well explained.
Can you please tell me what font is used for the inner text?
+Siegfried B. It wasn't my design but the font I use is "Birds of Paradise"
Thank you verry much... And a happy new year from Germany!!
Thinking of getting a scroll saw. What number blades did you use making this
I don't recall but it was either #3 or #5 flat ended spirals by Flying Dutchman
@@CharlesDearingScroller cool nice work .and thanks for your reply. Really appreciated
Awesome video! Thank you! Just curious, what kind of scroll saw are you using? I didn't see if anyone asks in the comments.
Thank you very much. It was a 18 inch Hegner
Got my question answered 👍
When you give these out, do you put a backer on? I find putting a backer on makes the letter pop out more, but it is sort of a pain. Just curious how you do it.
I probably just missed it, but what wood type do you use? Thank you
great tutorials 👍
thanks for the video. I looked and found a birds of paradise font but it isn't the same any idea where I can find it?
www.dafont.com/search.php?fpp=100&text=Benke&q=Birds+of+Paradise

Charles Dearing I will have to try spirals then. I've been scroll sawing since the early 90's and never used a spiral blade out of fear.
Very nice demo on scroll sawing with meaning attached. Compliments to you both!
Hello Charles, Love your videos. What size blade did you use in this video? Also do you have a video where you discus the blades you use? Thanks.
Thank you very much. I believe I discuss them in the "scroll sawing basics" video, not sure. I use #3 and #5 Flying Dutchman spiral blades. I believe I used #3's on this project.
What method did you use to keep the 3 pieces of wood together while you was cutting them out?
I used brad nails
Where can I get the pattern from?
Never have any luck with the spiral blades, always snap on me like guitar strings. Can you recommend any with stronger tensile strengths? Also, beautiful work man.
Jorge Santos Flying Dutchman are all I use so I don't know of any others to recommend ...maybe try a large size? Thanks Jorge
Thanks Charles. Just ordered some from amazon. I'll give it a try.
Jorge Santos Good luck! The pattern is at sheilalandrydesigns.com and the blades are at mikesworkshop.com
Great, Great video. what is the music call
+Ted Bowman Thanks Ted. The intro is called Cowboy Sting and the main video music is called Guts and Bourban (both by Kevin Macleod)
+Charles Dearing Thanks
what font are you using for the smaller letters
Bird Of Paradise
Nice work! This looks like a Sheila Landry pattern - is it?
Yes it is. ...more specifically Keith Fenton
what's wood u're use?
I want the eyes of chainsaw you use how do I order it
Can you direct me to a tutorial that creates this with Illustrator instead of inkscape? Thanks
Charles you are awesome! How did you get the letters on the wood?
Thank you Rikcy. I use carbon paper on the wood and trace the pattern over it. Some people use spray adhesive to stick the pattern to the wood.
Great. Thank you much.:-)
what blade are you using for the small letters? thank you!
Spiral Blade, #3 or 4 I'd guess
What type of blade are you using here?
+Brian Lasch #3 and #5 spiral Flying Dutchman spiral blades
+Charles Dearing I just started using these blades. It takes some practice but I really like them! You make it look easy. Thanks for your time and sharing the videos!! Ken
Inside My Shop Thank you very much
Hiiiii...you got a yt channel. awesome! ❤coolassheather
Are you using a spiral blade?
Yes, I am....it's all I have ever used.
+Charles Dearing Perfect, thanks
Charles Dearing does any scroll saw take spiral blades?
Hi this might sound stupid how do you cut out a D or a O
Thank you
Steve
Spiral blade??
Yes sir. That's all I ever use
What kind of scroll saw do you have, and do you have any suggestions for someone wanting to get into scroll sawing?
I have a Hegner 18 inch sold by advmachinery.com. When you say suggestions...do you mean general suggestions or scroll saw purchasing suggestions?
Both really!
hi,what software use for make the template?
Ramon Vaca I use paper, but this is not my design. Design by Keith Fenton
Love your work. Want to do something like this for my new Grandson. Only thing I want to do different is to build a frame and back light it with a led strand.
It said 2 coats, it must get really cold there.
I much prefer spiral blades, they are so much easier to use. I have to flatten the ends of mine though as my scroll saw prefers the regular blades with the 't' top. Great video!
Atza nisa!!!
Ho this is very nice work but as a new member to your page abd to scollsawing, this is to fast
This particular video is not a how-to. Merely showing my work. I do have other content that specifies how-to's.
If only the country music wasn't playing
Well, there's worse problems to have. There's always the mute button ;)
Gui Ewwy yes turn ur sound down geez! I loved the music!!!
Watching this makes me feel really stupid
Why?
