I'm an old dog who's only ever done novist hand sewing and mid level crotchet. I just got a brother se 400 about 3 weeks ago. I've read hundreds of pages and have watched over 1 K videos. I'm a bit miffed at you tube for not leading me to you wayyyy sooner yet so grateful it finally did. This was the most comprehensive, understandable tutorial on so many of the things I need to and have been trying doggedly to understand all in one video. I hope you know how appreciated you are! 🥰
Your "mind-mapping" use of physics, experience. comprehensive demo is better than any other presentation because you'll give us disaster proofing as it applies to a sewist! WOW!!!
Excellent presentation of good infirmation. Nice speaking skills: no ums-ahs, no repeating endlessly, clear ennunciation. Great hints. Awareness of observer issues, ie, cloror choices. Thank you for a real learning experience. Are you a former teacher?
Thanks so much! Actually former computer programmer. But when I owned Cactus Punch, I was a guest on Martha's Sewing Room (Martha Pullen) and Keeping the World Sewing with Sue Hausmann and I learned a few basics of working on camera. Still makes me nervous.
Wow! I am TOTALLY into old fashion needlework, vintage needle arts, etc, and I never had any concept lace could be made this way. How amazingly beautiful!!!
🎉I am so happy i found your video. Im trying to make lace lanterns, I'm having problems. After watching your video, i feel i can finally make what I want. I did not catch what type or brand od water soluble stablizer did you use or recommend?
Wonderful video! Learned so much watching this - at least 2-3 times. You're experienced enough that this doesn't happen to you, but sometimes I forget to check my bobbin or misjudge how much thread is left. So how would you address running out of bobbin thread while stitching out a FSL design? Thank you!
Lindee, thank you so much for this lace techniques video ! I learned so much, and it was things I did no know ! Now if I could learn how to make lace like you do your angels I would be in heaven ! lol............. do you ever do tutorials on making a lace snowflake or angel?
As always Lindee, this is a fantastic video. I've learned so much because you've packed a lot of info and tips into this 40 mins. It's great and thank you so much! Keep up the good work!
Wow I'm learning a lot about threads, needles, and lace and stabilizers. Do you sale the lace angles and the lace skirt designs?, I also want to make a angles lace pin to pin on a jacket or blouse or hat, what items do I need? thank you very much
Thank you for all the tutorials very interesting Ma question is when making free standing lace the bobbin thread should be from the top thread as well or should I use matching color thread but NOT metallic ?Thank you
Linda, Thanks for this class. It is very helpfull. Am sending more and more embroidery friends to your you-tube channel and website, cause it is very clear, for beginners ánd long-time embroideres. TY, 😘
I just bought my first freestanding lace patterns and am now confident enough to try them out - wish me luck! Great video, Lindee. Do you have instructional videos for digitizing lace? Ultimately that is what I would like to do.
Thanks! No videos on digitizing lace. If you do it the way I do for most of mine it's quite involved. However, if you do the "instant lace" approach I showed, it's much easier. Basically if you watch designs stitch and you know basic digitizing, you can figure out how any design was digitized.
Amazing work I am very happy to see these kind of works even I am interested in doing so but i Dont know where to get the designs Can you please suggest me if don't mine
I am loving your videos thank you so much, I want to use the solve that you are using but I am a little deaf and can’t quite get what is called is it fabric solve or called something else xx
HI Dororthy, I'm using a wash-away/water-soluble fiber-based stabilizer for my lace. There are a number of brands that have a product like this. I'm using Sulky Fabri-Solvy.
Thank you so much for this video. I have been embroidering for years and still manage to learn something new everyday. Your video reminded me of a few things I had forgotten, as well as taught me more than one thing so thank you. Your beautiful tree angle is on my "to do" list but not sure I can see her on your website. Would you mind telling me where I can buy her? She is by far my most favourite one yet I have seen.
Thanks! There's a link to the Resources page in the video description. If you slide down a bit to the video links, you'll see one for the lace samples.
You can but I don't usually do that because registration is so critical for lace. The satin columns are narrow and generally have multiple passes of runs underneath. If your stabilizer is stable, then those under runs (travel and underlay) can "fall out" and be exposed.
I’m going to try making ‘book marks’ for friends for Christmas… I’m using my 5x7 hoop-do you recommend I double the stabilizer? How do you know when to do that and when not to…
The only way to know for sure is to try it with one layer and see what happens. I'd definitely use tape to keep it sure and possibly pins inserted into the stabilizer where it come out of the hoop. (Not shown in video).
Hello dear, I’m glad that I reached here, may I know please the website that I can prder from those soluble fabric? As I’ve been looking for along time
I enjoyed and learned a lot from this video. And I thought I knew how to fsl well, :). You talk about using 2 threads in the machine. I tried that but one of the threads gets loopy on top. Is there a trick? I have a brother dream machine and it looks like you are embroidering on a brother or babylock. Thank you.
The trick is to make sure they get seated in the tension discs properly. I actually haven't done 2 threads on this machine but have on others. You might check with your dealer.
Hi, 7 months ago you stated the site would be back up soon. I registered and signed up (had to use the FAQ to do so) for your newsletter also. I wanted to purchase some of your snowflakes but it says none are available... Can you please let us know if there are any other avenues to do so? Thank you :D BTW, LOVED this tutorial!
The site is up but all the links have changed because it was built on entirely different software. Go to this page to find the lace: lindeegembroidery.com/shop/lace It's just going to take me a while to go back through all the other stuff I've done and correct links where possible. All those posts on Pinterest are just a big problem! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial!
I am looking for the patterns for lacing as I want to make something inspiring and add them to a ribbon to make a Bible book mark. Do you have anything that would work?
How about these little angels? lindeegembroidery.com/shop/angels-1 This link will take to all the angels - just scroll to see the smaller ones. There are 30-some small ones. Best deal is in the sets.
I am loving your videos but for some reason the sound is so bad, I can't hear anything so I am going on look and learn......is it only my sound cos all my other videos are clear?
@@LindeeGVideos Hi, its as though there is some sort of distortion and all I hear is a muffled voice in the background. It can't be on my side because all the other youtube videos are clear. Really wish I could hear your videos...... :)
I use Sulky Fabri-Solvy and Hemingworth WashAway. I'm sure there are other brands that are very similar. I usually use 2 layers. I would have used one or the other in this video.
I appreciate all this info. I seriously disagree about your information on badge master. I have had excellent results using it. I did a 3D design where there is underlay and 3 (three) layers of satin without a single misstep. I suspect the badge master you have in your possession is too old. I keep my badge well packaged and it stays soft. When it hasn’t been wrapped, it is brittle and does tear. Badge master is actually cheaper than the other water soluble items because you only need one layer. With the others requiring multiple layers.

Thanks, Lindee. I now have the courage to try my freestanding lace again. I left off for quite a while because of too many fails. Best to you.
Great video and advice!
You Ma'am are some serious talent! I had no idea this was possible. Thank u so much for sharing 🙏

The buttons interlock. See the included instructions.

Thanks! All the lace designs can be found in the lace category of the shop: lindeegembroidery.com/product-category/designs/lace
Hi! I have problems with the stabilizer, can you please advise me what kind and brand you recomend, thank you
What kind of problem? Slipping in the hoop? Not holding up to stitches? Something else?
When sewing these I have good thread, but it breaks constantly. I have slowed down my machine while sewing these - any suggestions?
Are you using a thread stand? A longer thread path can help. What needle are you using?

what sewing machine did you use or do you use to do FSL? can I do with SINGER 7258 ?

Any embroidery machine with a large enough hoop. Does the SInger 7258 have a hooped embroidery attachment?

I never run my machine a top speed. Usually around 600, which is fine.

If you have no audio, check the volume in RUclips and on your computer. There's nothing wrong with the audio in the video.
