I was today years old as i found out, that k&n filters aren‘t red
Same
they actually come in red, blue and the grey cotton colour
4hrs later and you’re ready to hit the road! Seriously, you need to have 2. One that’s always clean and ready, and the one you’re currently using.
Yes you are right I cleaned my at nighttime and let it dry until morning, else you need a spare one , I might buy a cheap paper one for emergency 😊👍
I keep a paper one since I clean / oil mine annually and I am meticulous about how I do it. I have never had an issue with a MAF or anything else. Basically, I follow the instructions since I figure they know more than I do. More oil does not mean more filtering.
I use a cheap one when I clean. I’m in no hurry
The filter in my 1290 R is such a pain to get at, I finally decided to buy a second K&N to swap in when it's time for a cleaning and a re-oil. With my cars, I keep paper filters on hand, to install temporarily until the K&N filter is cleaned, re-oiled and ready for reinstallation! 😉
45 mins max
For anyone wondering, there is a K&N filter for Grasshopper mowers, and it does not require oiling.
Love you K&N always had you on my vehicles.
Finally, new video
Hoy, 23/05/2024 aprendi que los filtros de aire son rojos por el aceite que llevan... y que llevan aceite
Using this a guide now
Thank you, doing this now
Can you guys do a video for the maserati ghibli air filters and cabin air filter
Hey KN, what does the Filter Oil do? My Mustang also has a KN Air Filter but I sadly have to clean my Air Mass Sensor after doing multiple hard pulls because its covered in Oil afterwards. Is the Oil just for expanding the Life Time of the Filter or does it have more purpose?
The filter oil is a critical part of the filtration process and should always be applied when cleaning. We have oil-free Dryflow filters available if you would prefer a filter that doesn't require filter oil. If you are continuing to encounter issues or have any other questions please feel free to contact our product specialists at 800-858-3333 or tech@knfilters.com for support.
I have a blue filter. What happens if i spray this red one
The pour bottle sucks. Oil is not evenly distributed. Too much waste. The spray bottle looks to provide more even coverage.
Can we put the oil in a spray bottle if we get the pour bottle version?
I agree the pour bottle is soo ass😢😢
@@jaysteezy_srt6896 I don't see why not. I thought of this too late too.
If using oil you use compressed air to spread oil evenly and dry a bit quicker
So after you spray the oil into the filter do you need to wait for it to dry? Or ready to go after you sprayed it
Let it dry for 20 minutes
K&N oiled up
How bad would it be to use an air gun to dry it off?
If I oil the filter pretty good and it drips a little, can that suffocate a carburetor? It’s on my motorcycle now and everything seems to be working fine, I’m just wondering I lost any power by possibly overoiling it. My bike doesn’t have sensors to affect, just an old school carb to the engine. I used the aerosol spray.

@@MotoVirtuo Probably liability related. The social media person running the channel isn't allowed to give advice.
I just bought the K&N series 63 aircharger cool air intake, do you add oil to that filter?
When new in the packaging, all K&N air filters are pre-oiled and ready to install from the factory. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact our product specialists at 800-858-3333 or tech@knfilters.com.
What do you do if your filter has too much oil and it’s making it throw a P0505 code?
Please contact our product specialists at 800-858-3333 or tech@knfilters.com for assistance.
clean it off again and re oil, use less oil this time
also clean your airflow sensor, i had a problem with running way rich once and it was due to a bit of oil or dirt getting on the airflow sensor
I had a bit of problem on my motorcycle, applied too much and was making it hard to push air LOL... But just a air compressor blow on it slightly and fixed 😎
I try not to use oil after cleaning because the oil will dirty the mass airflow sensor, then the check engine lights will come on. Then you have to clean the mass airflow sensors too
Filter oil is a critical part of the filtration process for K&N High-Flow air filters. Running the filter without oil could result in reduced engine protection. If you would prefer use a filter that does not need filter oil, consider one of our Dryflow filters. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact our product specialists at 800-858-3333 or tech@knfilters.com
I swear, if you oil your filter this much you're going to be throwing codes in 50 miles.
exactly.
Should you spray oil on the inside too??
No. Only on the outside
You want to only apply oil to the dirty side of the filter. If you have any other question please feel free to contact our Product Specialists at 800-858-3333 or tech@knfilters.com
How long after application of the oil can i re-install and drive?
directly
K&N I was told by an old guy that this $400 K&N cold air intake is useless and does not add HP as advertised. Is that true ?
All K&N intakes are provide a guaranteed increase in horsepower and torque. Dyno charts from vehicle testing for each part # are posted on our website. If you have any other questions please feel free to contact our product specialists at 800-858-3333 or tech@knfilters.com.
Wow. Thank you for replying K&N. I will keep the K&N filter in my Truck then. I was cleaning it , watched this video for help
You loose filtration
@@littlereptilian7580 lose* I trust K&N bro. 4HP added, is more bald eagles 🦅 brother
Does this change the color as well I don’t want red since mine already the color I much prefer stupid question but yes I’m curious.
If you have a cotton (not dryflow) filter, make sure to apply filter oil when cleaning as it is a critical part of the filtration process. K&N filter oil is available in red, blue, or black on our website knfilters.com. If you like the look of the filter media and don't want to apply a color filter oil, check out clear filter oil from our sister company Spectre Performance www.spectreperformance.com/884820-air-filter-cleaning-kit.
@@KNfilters does RU-2820 need to be oiled? It's 4 layers of cotton! Seems like washing it is good enough. The soap leaves a residue of oil I'm sure. thanks
Even if I coat it with oil very lightly, its still kinda leaky. I dont want to damage my air mass sensor by getting oil splash on it
The filter oil will take at least 20 minutes to wick into the media. if you still have questions or concerns please feel free to contact our Product Specialists at 800-858-3333 or tech@knfilters.com
it won't damage your sensors, but it will mess them up. i have had check engine lights come on after cleaning my filter. just get a can of mass airflow sensor cleaner and clean the sensor. fixes it right up
Knfilters- “your ready to hit the road”
How often do I have to clean up?
Every 3 months is good.
More like once every year or 2 years.
The cleaner it is the better it sucks air.. depends how often you drive and where you drive! But I’d clean every time it visually looks dirty
A good rule of thumb is to clean it whenever you do your oil change.
heck i did that wrong like 15 years xD
it could take days for the filter to dry.
have a stock filter and then use the kn when dried
Just leave it in the sun, 2h max and its dry
Can I use the kit oil when my 2008 Honda civic engine uses synthetic oil?
Huh??? What’s synthetic motor oil got anything to do with an oiled air filter? 😂
I strongly advise you to let a mechanic do your oil changes and air filter cleaning and re-oiling for you so you don’t bugger up your ride lol.

Lmao it’s a Autozone joke 😂
I was disappointed when I seen the filter was installed in a Toyota 😂
Mine didn’t turn red it’s still black
@@KNfilters yes but I found out I didn’t have the cotton kind I had the black one that didn’t require oil
Did it mess it up us the black one better?
Better than the brown stains in your underwear. I'm sorry I couldn't help myself.
How long does the oil have to dry ?
Install immediately after wiping off exes oil from filter when the wicking is uniform.
^lol no. You have to let it dry completely.
@@memphisraines8118you must be new to oiled filters, it’s ok. The oil doesn’t ever dry, it just soaks into the filter.
On the aerosol kit version the instructions say nothing about letting the oil dry, but I saw online you have to wait 20 minutes
@memphisraines8118 oil never dry, it soaked into the cotton material.
Yeah nah i aint doing that mate
What about non oiled filters.

Filter oil? Why? They are so cheap you can just replace them every year
This filter has multiple layers that the dirt penetrator that you will never get out. As soon as the filter is used, the efficiency is reduced. They are not worth the money
ok i did not put that "red oil" Now my K&N is grey but clean haaha
Is that red oil stuff necessary? I hear it ca leak into the intake if not fully dry. I'm cool with just leaving it it's natural color.
@@Amp661 2 years using the car without that red-oil and 0 problems, seems like this is a marketing move... Nice profile pic dude.
Make sure to apply filter oil when cleaning as it is a critical part of the filtration process. Running the filter without filter oil could result in reduced filtration performance.
The oil bottle is such a horrible idea, I wish I would have watched this video before buying it. Thats going to take an hour just to apply the oil 🤦🏽♂️
Personally, I prefer the bottle when re-oiling flat filters and the spray for cylindrical filters. Of course, I set aside time to clean and oil my filters. I don't decide to clean and oil them 5 minutes before I'm ready to head out on a three day road trip!
crap just buy new one
Why would someone install this kind of filter in a Toyota SUV???
Its not a race car!
