That will not stop whatever is getting into our cans here in south central florida. They tried to drag the entire bin, the size of the one in this video, into the woods! I had the lid ratchet strapped closed, but they were able to force an opening between the strap and hinge, and had their way...
Love that your with your boy and he's involved...good stuff. I hope this works for you, but I have done similar with my cans and also two bungee cords that were very tight and the raccoons still got into them. They are super smart and very strong for their size. I now keep my cans in my garage. Raccoons have won round 1, but I am still searching for a permanent solution.
They have different springs with these clamps. Some are easier than others to open. I purchased these at Home Depot. I’ll see if I can figure out another solution for those follows who say this does not work for them
Those racoons are pretty smart....they will realize you can knock over the can on the side that has the clamp, bite with teeth and pull out......and voila.
@@TheCheshireCats a 2” spring clamp should suffice. It’s more so about the pinch pressure and keeping the lid closed. Rather than how big the clamp is.
I dont know what raccoons you have by you but the racoons by me would make easy work of tipping pail over and getting most garbage out even with clamp still on. Theoretically good idea but...
I should be asking you what kind of raccoons you have near you instead. Also what kind of clamp are you using? These clamps are pretty tough for even my son to open at the age of 9.

Interesting. But can't they push the clamp from the side and make it fly off?
I have not had a problem since I’ve done this. I don’t think they are strong enough b
@@akachuckd Excellent, thanks for the reply. :) Hopefully it works here!
@@akachuckd What size clamp is that would you say please? 2 or 3 incher?

Great Video
Thanks for sharing
Cool idea .
Thank you
When you think about it, are raccoons basically hoarders?
Elaborate
@@akachuckd like, they steal and take some of your trash. Digging through it and taking for themselves. Reasonably they’re hungry.

How did it go? Is it effective still to this day or did raccoons figure it out?
I have not had a problem yet. So no they haven’t figured it out or they just are not strong enough to remove clamp.
@@akachuckd wow that’s weird. I thought they would figure it out. Very nice and cost efficient idea though.
THANK YOU
Bro I need that shirt
Love this
Thank you!
tried it. did not work. raccoons knocked it off first time and got in trash
Did you use a strong clamp?
