I think I wasn’t clear about the singing part 😆... it was a fun game where I had to repeat the song and people had to guess what I was singing to win prizes. I knew about it and agreed to it beforehand.. no one pressured me ☺️ just something overcame me in the moment and I froze.. it’s not ones fault and it happens, I just wanted to include it Bc it was my reality.. things don’t always go as planned.

When you talked about your insecurities and bad experiences due to acne, it really hit home. I've been suffering from fungal acne these past few months and 'my self-esteem has gone down since then. This video really somehow comforts me and that it's okay to have imperfections on your skin. keep doing what you do Taylor. Love your vids

I don't get why they would cancel your services just because you had pimples?? I mean pimple is so easily hidden with concealer and photo editing.
Yea I felt the same 🤷♀️ it was about 12 years ago.. so photoshop wasn’t what it was and they said they didn’t want the extra work/to use it 😣😣
@@Taylor_R having a good model is worth the "extra work". If I can cover my million pimples with CS2 (released 15 years ago), then so can a photographer. You could have a person with the most gorgeous skin in the world, but if she doesn't know how to act in front of a camera it's no use. Whoever turned you down was incredibly short-sighted. Props to Benefit for knowing what's up.
Usually it's because the employers/agencies/companies, for lack of a better word, were self-entitled AHs. It's only about them, spending less than what they budgeted; it's all about them spending no effort (some don't even honor you with their presence) to get them money and inflate the already oversized ego.
A lot of industries were like that, some still are. But take for example, the movie and music industries, where the "independents" came along and stirred the pot, and things aren't just the same--that is, there is more than one road to success now.

A lot of places having pimples makes them scared that they will have to spend extra money on a professional editor and not just the photographer and their editing skills. I have arrived to shoots where in the fineprint it would say if the model is not exactly what they expect from the portfolio (of professional edited images) they reserve all rights to cancel the model any time... :(

Actually concerned for Taylor since they have been arresting Canadian youtubers on false charges claiming they are spies to use as leverage against Canada. American and Canadian residents of china and hong kong have been fleeing the country. Hope they decide to leave for their home in Canada sooner than later before they cant leave if it isnt already too late.

I watched the livestream and really enjoyed the whole thing! It was so cool to be able to interact with you. I got way too excited when you started talking about it in this vid haha! At the time, you were handling it well, and looked so cute, I didn’t really think about what an uncomfy experience it was for you. But then after, when you were talking about the feelings you were actually going through, I really really felt that and you! The secondhand anxiety was real but I mostly just wanted to hug you and tell you it wasn’t even close to as bad as you thought! Just know you are so strong and such an inspiration. Unrelated, but pleeeease never leave RUclips, I don’t know what I’d do without the light that you bring!! 💜💜💜

Hearing you say something as simple as 'I have hormonal things' made me feel so much better about my own hormonal acne. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and my self esteem has been hit so hard with the combination of cystic and hormonal acne on top of dermatillomania (skin picking disorder). Your simple statement made me realise it's not my fault and I shouldn't be ashamed.
why would they ask someone who doesn't speak cantonese to sing a pop song in cantonese live. That seems totally unfair and completely unreasonable
It was just for fun, it’s not that deep
It would be super hard to sing in another language. You did well and gave it your best effort. I think you’re brave for it and it shows you’re willing to try new things. Keep up the good work girl love your videos ❤️

I can totally relate to your panic because of singing live! I usually got a nervous breakdown every time I had to sing in front of my class during school days.....😱🥵😭 I hated it! The locations and your styling during the shoots were incredible though, you looked amazing. It was an interesting video all together, so I‘d like to watch this kind of video again very much. (Sorry, my English is terrible, I just woke up 15 minutes ago.....)

For school I had to do an online zoom presentation because of COVID and for some reason it was way more stressful doing it online than in person... I dont know what it is about it but I felt like I couldn't breathe and wanted to cry too. I can imagine having to sing online like that 😅

I feel like it’s probably super stressful because you’re doing it from what is normally a “safe” and private space! It feels kind of invasive!

I’ve totally felt that sudden urge to cry before. It actually usually comes over me during (or after) job interviews, oddly enough. Glad you made it through- moments like that are tough, but you are tougher!
Side note: I actually modeled for my first campaign a few months back. In the end, it got cancelled because of COVID lay-offs, but it was a great experience. I could see how doing it day in and day out would become emotionally exhausting, though.
its just stress! Everyone has different reactions. I definitely cry easily and know what she was feeling. But my threshold is much lower lol.

Edit: yikes springing live singing in a different language on you...someone dropped the ball. 9/10 people would not feel comfortable doing that. Should have definitely briefed you on that first so you knew what you were getting into. Thank god you didn’t have a panic attack or anything

You might have some acne, but the over all texture of your skin is so good. I’m dealing with acne AND aging and it’s ugh. Your makeup skills are incredible but you look great naturally in my opinion as well. 💕

I thought the singing was endearing. It allowed the audience who isn’t familiar with your channel a little clip of your quirky personality. Even though it didn’t go as planned I still that it was cute and makes you relatable.

I went of the pill three months ago and although I never had perfect skin, due to the hormonal change I now have acne on my face and neckline. And I've been struggling with it a lot. But seeing you being confident about your skin really cheers me up 😊
Thanks for showing us the behind the scenes while explaining how these work. I've always been pretty curious to see how much effort is put in to doing something like this cause all we see is a nice post or two that you put up but don't know that there are weeks worth of planning/prepping and even a few days worth of just shooting the scene.

Well Done Taylor! - Whenever we are doing things outside our comfort zone it is both exciting and scary. You did really well! I can appreciate how overwhelming it can be in the moment with so much going on, and when things are not going to plan there is even more of an added pressure, even when things are going well it can be overwhelming. You are sincere in your efforts and I hope you are able to do more of what you love doing x :-) I think it is important for people to see the real behind the scenes and overall reality of what goes into these experiences, not just the finished product x

And it's definitely got to be a roller coaster of emotions when you are having hormonal imbalances from IVF treatments as well as the usual hormonal changes us women experience all the time. I know this especially since my partner is from a different nationality as well and every time I'm in his country I freeze even just having to try to speak a normal sentence (bc I dont know how~ haha) Anywhoos, you rocked it! Yup I did on my own, and then again during this job. half of the money I was paid to host this live stream event went to The Loveland Foundation (focus on therapy for Black women & children) and the other half went to The Boys & Girls Club Association of Hong Kong (mental wellness section for kids)

I seriously wonder what the residents of the rainbow building think of living at such a famous photo/video spot. Like, do they get super annoyed every time someone is out there? Do they want to play basketball, approach the court and go home mad that someone is there yet again to take photos? Or do they not care much? Or maybe they think it's cool? Not a question any of us can answer unless we live there but these are the thoughts running through my head! 🤔

Omg thank u for sharing! Ur story about ur pimples with modelling reminds me of my insecurity with my knee scar. I get so nervous when I get asked to wear shorts or dresses bc I don't know how they'll react to my scar. I can say that so far no client has rejected me 😆 but I do fear that in some countries like Japan which are much stricter
girl i feel you with the singing thing. like i know you said you agreed to it and all that, that's all fine, but something about singing and performances are a big part of chinese culture that we're just not used to. like with karaoke being so big and everything in asia.... i lived in mainland china for 4 years and i remember one of my finals for a chinese speaking class my first year was singing in front of the class while my teacher recorded. it was mortifying and i flar out refused to do it. after that there was a lot of pressure to "perform" songs and dances as a foreign student for parties or events at my school or even with my friends. it's just something i wasn't used to. my teachers would sing all the time, and a normal part of introducing yourself in new classes or social settings would be like "introduce yourself and sing a song from your country!" but i was like ughhhh singing on the spot in class is like a punishment for being late or for acting out or something.
So much hard work but so so fun! I love those photoshoots and I miss HK's old tram. 😊
