Your first night in Japan sounds so similar to my first night in Paris on my study abroad semester. I was SO excited to go, it had been a dream of mine, but as soon as I arrived I was an anxious, terrified mess and wanted more than anything to go back home.
I struggled a lot for a month but after that, I started to really embrace the experience while I could, and it turned out to be one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. Like you said, it was a turning point in my life that changed everything.
Life happens outside of your comfort zone.

When I went to japan for the first time last September (2019) i had a Japanese guy fall to the ground hugging my feet and saying how much he loved me. he was drunk and i didn't know how to react so I just froze. Some girls pulled him off.

So what about the money situation? Were those agencies expensive? What were the costs?

    • @Taylor_R
      @Taylor_R  4 года назад +4

You don’t need to pay for anything they will upfront the expenses and you pay them back once you earn money. If you have a guarantee then even if you don’t make money you don’t need to pay them back because your contract says you will go home with a certain amount of money no matter what happens (unless you violate the terms/gain weight/etc)

I don't know why everyone is griping about the editing. It's very on theme for reading a diary from your teen years. I think it's cute! Always love your content Tay. You always say how you are a creature of habit but you are always making changes with your channel and I love it! Doing things the exact same all the time is just not sustainable. You are still Tay but you give us something fresh to look forward to often and it's great!

Tay, I love how encouraging and positive you are! I wanted to model from the age of 13 and yet I had bucked teeth and so I begged my parents for braces! I wore braces my entire H.S. Years and got the braces off just before Senior pictures! I was not popular at all in H.S. and a bit of a wallflower but not even one year after graduation I won the title of Miss Illinois USA 1980 (yes, I’m an older gal- 58). I’m in TOTAL agreement with you, if you want something bad enough and are willing to make the sacrifices you can do anything you want to do!!! Love your channel Tay! 🤗

I’m 16 and I really want braces, my parents said I could get them but I know we can’t really afford them and if we bought them then it would mean I would not be able to do other stuff which is really important to me.

Wise words from Taylor: If there is something you really want to do just go for it! If one door closes try another one. If that one closes find a window push it open and force yourself into that room. Once you get in there, work really hard and make people realize that you belonged in there all along. Because you belong in every room.

I wanna know more about the Tay from your 2014-2016 era if i’m correct when you were very kawaii and wearing circle lenses and such. I stumbled across your channel around that time and I wanted to know when did you start doing that style? Was it for modeling or the other way around, the kawaii look was originally your style so you were able to do shoots that worked with your aesthetic? How old were you when you started doing that look? Just very curious..love you x

Your story reminds me of my try to become an actress as a very young woman. I went to NYC all alone and had many of the same types of experiences. My story was not as successful in some ways but I really identified with you. Since I am 67 now it's fun to find things in common with young people.

Thanks for posting! I'm preparing to move to another part of the US and I'll be completely on my own for the first time (at 28), and hearing your story of moving to Asia at 18 gives me confidence!

I really enjoyed the video but I wish there weren't music constantly in the back, it's distracting and kinda gave me a headache towards the end. 😖 But apart from that, thank you for sharing your experience with us, Tayyyy 💝💝💝

Thank you so much for making this video. I live in Japan right now for study, but I've always wanted to do modeling. I've never had the confidence to try things that I was uncertain would work out and am very good at coming up with excuses. Even now I've told myself, I'm too busy with research, am too old for modeling now, etc., but I've decided now that I'm going to forget all those things and force myself through that window. Thank you.

Wonderful story, well told. I really enjoyed the fancy edits to enhance the visual interest (the "apartments in Toronto" insert at 5:06 made me grin).

Hiw old were you when you went? I went to Japan as an exchange student in 2005. I recently went back this year, and what a difference!! I remember walking down the streets in Tokyo and people would just stop and stare, or yell random countries at me to try and figure out where I was from. Now, no one cares about you in the big cities. Tokyo has changed a lot since then!

The new editing is cool! But for me personally, I feel it’s hard to focus on you talking and doesn’t feel too personal like how your og videos were, it felt like you’re giving us advice in the same room type of vibe. Fancy editing! But a little too much in certain moments ✨

I lOVED this inspiring video. And I think the video about your relationship with food as a model would be really good and educational. I grew up in Japan and I had been reading fashion magazines for teens (Popteen, Seventeen, Ranzuki... ), and I think I was affected by the body images presented by those magazines unconsciously when I, 17 years old, was diagnosed with an eating disorder. I didn't question how those magazines fat-shamed totally-healthy models on paper back then, and I blamed myself as the magazine blamed models for being "lazy" to lose weights and put them on some "diet project" things. Talking about food or weight can be tough because it is sensitive stuff, but if you feel comfortable enough to do that, it would be great if you could share your experience in Japan!

I always want to be a model but the times I've tried I was told I was to short (im 4'11-5' somewhere in-between) I was told I was short even for the "small or petite" models who they say are usually 5'2-5'6 even for print work. I guess im out of luck lol... but that's life right? im glad you post even though you are busy.
