America has always been this way - in fact it used to be much worse. Statistically, children are safer today than they were 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 years ago. The difference is that because of the internet and media reach, we hear more about these cases than we did decades ago. Think of how many child murderers there are - people are what they are - now imagine these people were also repeat offenders. It's nearly impossible to get away with these sorts of crimes in todays world, therefore, the incidents themselves are rare and repeat offenders are even rarer.

But decided to post it for blended families to see that there are extra dimensions of care and responsibility that need to be in place for children. It may have just been a tiff for the poor step-mom, but to a child (who's already probably felt rejected due to adult separations/divorces etc. - children take it all so personally) Well, to such children, what might be a regular tiff for an adult, could magnify into bigger trauma and in this case, possibly resulting in her leaving the house. FEDEX Corporation should immediately require all contractor drivers to be fingerprinted, photographed, drug test and a comprehensive criminal background and credit check be conducted. This driver was probably using his own personal vehicle, had no official uniform or identification badge. The news media is now stating the driver didn’t have a background check to begin with. FedEx you should be ashamed for cutting corners. Every employee should be an in-house employee, even if you have to hire part-timers…. At least you can screen out who you are hiring.

Fed ex gives their packages to private companies..It was the private company who was suppose to do the vetting, and I can assure you they are so desperate for drivers at this time of year, they didn't vet hard enough..but also understand this may have been the abductors first offense, because he was easily caught..too bad not quick enough to save the child.

The depravity of humanity in the murder of this adorable girl " Athena Strand " won't even begin to tell the pain involved.. till we stop putting emotion's in the way of punishment, so will evil deprive us of all the people. My blessing's to the Strand family & friend's from SC.. my family & I offer our deepest condolences in this time of grief.
I hope he gets that PRISON JUSTICE, no matter how they do it, is good with me.
