In my opinion, what ruined Directv was AT&T i was there when they kept jacking up the price and then taking services away. And still raisin prices, people were leaving by the drove
Exactly, in the matter of a few years, I was paying $165 range, and then this past year it went up to $260 range. I cut the cord at the point...I miss certain channels but, it is what it is. I'll deal with it.
From the moment Dish and DirecTV emerged in 1995 until about 2005, going to digital satelitte was the ONLY game in town if you wanted to get away from crappy Cable TV. This was back when high speed broadband was NOT yet a thing and Netflix was mailing physical discs out! DirecTV and Dish have had a 3 decade long run. If their time has come, their time has come. It is as simple as that.
I used to work for a contractor for 1 of the 2 satellite TV providers in 2019. It was in decline then for sure. I had hardly any customers below age 40 even where there was no terrestrial broadband. The over 40s out in the sticks tended to be light internet users & were fine with an $80 TV antenna on a pole.
"Light internet user with an $80 antenna on a pole"; that pretty much describes me, except I live in a vast suburban wasteland. 200mb down and I'm happy. 😁
aw, you're lucky. The town I lived in, had no broadband internet. They had to go to cable. In 2022 (?), Xfinity started coming to the town. You say DISH and DirecTV Satellites.. everywhere!
Eyes and ears. I have seen fiber laid in every inch in the NE Texas countryside, and people are ditching satellite like crazy. Social media posts are telling about the cheaper and much better service they are getting with fiber. Doesn't sound good for satellite companies.
Launch/operational costs in addition to re-transmission extortion fees make both companies un-sustainable. Both companies independently declare bankruptcy, which the creditors will have no choice but to accept a reduction in debt. In the end, it will be consumers who loose the most with one less alternative, allowing the others to increase consumer prices.
must be nice. I been with them for several years. They used to give decent discounts, But the last one, was simply $10.00 off the month was the best they could offer. Horrible!
Interesting update. We have never subscribed to satellite TV but do have some exposure to Dish's financial problems. For many years we were Republic Wireless cellular customers, a MVNO. The were bought by Boost now called Boost Mobile who in turn are a subsidiary of Dish. The transition was kind of rocky but we are still with them as are our adult kids. It will be interesting to see how things play out over time. Quite frankly I'm surprised satellite TV is so expensive. One would have thought of all the ways to deliver real time TV satellite would be ideal but I guess as with cable it is hard to compete with video-on-demand.
It never made sense of why Dish stakeholders said no to TPG Inc. DirecTV and Dish could pull a Starlink and send lower orbit satellites... for they can do both internet and streaming.
I went to streaming last week. I refused to continue paying $250 a month to them. Had they not refused to lower my bill and increase my picture quality I would have stayed with them a while longer. Having several streaming packages that have live TV channels isn't really equivalent though. The convenience of having all of the channels in 1 place and 1 click away is one of the main reasons people still stay with them. Let's face it, it's a royal pain in the butt to have to jump though hoops to watch everything, but I understand it's how it is going to be to be able to save money. Direct TV could have been the leader in streaming, but their greed has blinded them to the reality that people won't continue to pay their exorbitant fees, and HULU and RUclips better wake up and understand this. They both are beginning to price themselves out of business.
Time to end TV providers.... when then came along... satellite tv went down the tubes....we had to get a decoder.. then it was never the same..... after that we got nothing but garbage 🗑️.... without a decorder
IF DirectTv would have come in with a $59.99 Streaming full package - they would have pulled so many customers. Even if they did a 12 month contract (not the norm for streaming) for $59.99
Same here., I strongly agree that the Bitcoin ETFs approval will be greatly life opportunity for us, with my current portfolio of $102,500 from my investments with my personal financial advisor Steve Miley I totally agree with you😊
Why can't Dish try someone else besides Direct TV like sell their or just shut it down and go to streaming like Sling dish could have 2 streaming services Sling and Dish streaming similar to direct TV no satellite needed service and anyone can sign up not just existing Dish TV customers 🤔
Direct TV said several years ago that they were not planing any more satellites. Once the current bunch fail, they will be totally streaming. Years ago, all there was the two satellite companies as well as the local cable company, Today, there are dozens of choices.
@@patrickmartin4996 that’s sad because I stay in such a remote area high speed internet isn’t a option and dish aka direct tv and dish network is all I can get out here
I don’t understand why they didn’t launch their own LEO service like Starlink did. They missed the boat with that one and still never considered it lately? Elon Musk does have an advantage with being able to launch their own though keeping costs down.
Direct TV is owned BY AT&T. Therefore, I would NEVER sign a contract with Direct TV. Better options without a contract. Tired of companies tying consumer arm through contracts.
DirecTV needs to get its act together. It's new 'streaming' offerings are less than impressive. Why can't they offer a true streamlined streaming package with no locals (which many of us can easily get over the air)? I watch maybe 5 or 6 stations on the entire system on a regular basis (TNT, TCM, CNN, MSNBC, YES, and MSG). I only want to pay for the networks that I want to watch. I don't even need CNN since I can get a feed for that via MAX with ads (and can probably get all the TNT and TBS content via Bleacher Sports). I already have access to Gotham Sports for YES and MSG. That leaves the full TCM - which is maddeningly not available via streaming.
Because it has to do with "legal" license agreements. Providers make more money from bundling because they can distribute costs across a large number of channels and users. Even though streaming is more flexible than traditional cable, the infrastructure and costs of managing individual subscriptions for specific channels are still challenging. Providers must also negotiate with different companies for streaming rights, which are often separate from cable rights.
In my opinion, what ruined Directv was AT&T i was there when they kept jacking up the price and then taking services away. And still raisin prices, people were leaving by the drove
When we had Directv up to two years ago our bill was $230 a month for 3 receivers. It is just not cost effective.

There is so much FREE TV out there these days with apps and over-the-air - anyone who pays for TV is NUTS !!!

They would have done better and not drove the customers away their constantly raising prices!!!!

Cancelled a couple days ago. Their offer was to cut my package from $134 to $59, $25 loyality discount and a $200 reward card after 2 months.

My directv guide lettering turned yellow today. Any experience this?

I don’t blame the bond holders considering dish used the debt to buy the wireless spectrum.
now dish faced the same thing back in november

So we have Dish. What happens if they file for this? Then what happens?
Excellent news
Not sure why att even wanted direct tv 📺 to begin with
monopoly
Terrible business decision, one of the worst ever.
What would happen to Sling TV?
I'm favoured financially with Bitcoin ETFs approval, Thank you buddy.$28,600 weekly profit regardless of how bad it gets on the economy.

The very first time we tried, we invested $1000 and after a week, we received 4500. That really helped us a lot to pay up our bills.
Steve Miley has really set the standard for others to follow, we love him in Canada🇨🇦as he has been really helpful and changed lots of life's
A CNBC news host spoke highly big about this man and he's loss preventing strategies. Been trying to reach her since. Thanks y'all for the info🙏
Just withdraw my profits weeks ago, To be honest it was an amazing feeling when the profits hits my wallet i wish i could reinvest but, too much bills

Hand both of them for years finally dropped them cost way too much to watch TV now streaming services are following them as well.
I am watching the dish right now

DirectTV Stream does not require a contract.
Att sold directv
@@NO_ID94 Deal to be finalized in the 2nd half of 2025 to TPG. Right now TPG owns 30%
DirecTV stream don't have a contract which is what I have! I would go RUclips tv then if your that concerned though.
