    Watch me transform a fantastic metal hospital bed into a rusty antique. The bed was handmade by an unknown artisan.
    I'll show you step-by-step how to age metal miniatures and add realistic rust using acrylic paint, super glue, and baking soda..

    This is the online course I took that taught me some aging techniques. We all created our own unique room boxes using the foundation techniques.
    I have lots of projects planned like abandoned miniatures, Dollar Store furniture makeovers, room boxes, dioramas and Dollhouse Miniature decor, furniture and accessories in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

    I love this room so much...and that bed! I had to go back a few times to watch again and see all the details in the room. There was something about that brown spot on the floor by the toilet. I just couldn't look away lol 😂

    What a cool and unique piece. I love that the bed has moving parts. I like that your diorama is more cheerful. I immediately thought insane asylum seeing the type of bed.

      Thank you :) I got the bed on Etsy. The bathroom set is a Chrysnbon kit.

    Very cool bed, hospital bed. Your rust looks authentic. For a fast rust look I use cinnamon. Apply glue, apply cinnamon, shake off excess, cover with coat of matte Modpodge.

      I first saw Whitney LaBrie do that trick on her miniature channel. So cool!

    Thanks for sharing the technique! That bed is so cool, I am not sure I could have done that to the bed though!

      You definitely could! The process is easy. I was reluctant to modify the bed but I've seen others and it was already chipped so I justified it.

      @@Beachy1955 did you know they are selling the homes that were built for that series? It didn't look like there were any driveways or garages though. Since no one ever lived in them they are being sold as new. They're going to take down the wall though

    That really is cool. Very small. I like that it can be adjusted by that little crank dodad

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  2 года назад +2

      It's 1:12 scale so the bed is 12 times smaller than a full size bed.
      I love that the bed is adjustable! It's such a cool bed. I would usually like to see a mattress in a scene with a bed but the bed is so cool, it's best to skip a mattress.

      @@queencityminis you could always make like a rotting mattress that's just some rusty springs and shreds of fabric. You could see the bed still and have the added effect of abandonment. 🤔 Also you could play with rusting to get better. Doing all those springs would definitely give you a lot of practice instead of a little here and there. 🤔

    This is wonderful! I need to find more words for my utter delight. I’d like to take online courses for miniature making. I need to learn more techniques like this. Wonderful! Do you still use this even though you have the rust making stain?

    Seems like the makings of a prison cell with the toilet. Never saw a miniature working hospital bed before. Regular hospital beds have bars that can be raised on the sides, like the kind needed to tie down a suicidal person. Great job aging the sink and toilet too. I'm not sure I see it as cheerful, if the patient was well taken care of, why would the scene be left to decay once they died? Hospital beds are needed by the next person and are usually rented when a person chooses to die at home. Unless it's an insane asylum as someone else suggested . Or a necessary place for a community that doesn't have big hospitals. Like the apocalyptic scenario, or... ohhh, OR a secret room where you put the werewolf in the family during the full moons so they won't kill anyone . I think An American Werewolf In London had a residence like that. A basement cell for securing the wolf and a hospital bed to look for a cure
    Honestly this scene raises more questions than it answers

      I was thinking the bed had to be abandoned because of some type of sudden catastrophe, like the nuclear meltdown at 3 Mile Island.

      came out. The room colour is what you would have found. It's only been in the last decade or so that things have changed.

      really do like this room.

    Upon further inspection, I don't think a wooden floor would be appropriate for this setting, too hard to clean and sterilize from bodily fluids.

    • @queencityminis
      @queencityminis  2 года назад +2

      I didn't have anything in mind when I started making the room. I already had the bed and the Chrysnbon bathroom set I had previously aged. I would have tiled the floors had I known what direction I'd be going in but I think it still works. This family chose to care for their relative at home in a private residence rather than at the hospital. Then they all had to leave in a hurry.
