I don't think he included Chef's statue partner either.
Unfortunetly part 2 disproves this theory. Mainly because prison mark recognizes the player character. This means you're playing as the same person between in space and heist and you meet darkiplier in heist.
There's a scene that proves Dorene is Celine tho
There's also an end credits scene when you complete Part 2, which shows Darkiplier just before the final ending of Heist.
Maybe it's not the 'same person', but rather an alternate version of the viewer, kind of like why there are multiple Markipliers
Markiplier has stated himself, the person in Space and Heist is literally just whoever it is that's watching the video, that's why in Heist, your hand constantly changes from a man's hand to a woman's hand and in Space, you're wearing gloves (which I think works better tbh.)
Honestly I feel like it's much more of a GTA5 heist situation. Did you bring named lore character along to help? Do you take cheap or expensive local rando instead? Maybe they died as soon as the heist started, maybe they lived the whole way through. It changed literally nothing

Spoilers for Part 2:
I love how Part 2 confirms some of this and contradicts a lot of the conclusions. MatPat specifically NAILED IT with the Celine = Dorene connection, which was confirmed in the "Let Go" ending of Part 2 when she quotes Damien: "I bet you're wondering if you made the right choice. Well, it's like my- like an old friend used to say, life is ours to choose."
Anyone else think that Old Man Mark is Warfstache in disguise ?? They both love stabbing, they’re both eccentric, and in Heist Warfstache gives us a bell 🛎 and tells us he’ll be back if we ring it and in In Space we ring the bell🛎 in the diner and Old Man Mark is in the booth.
In the fact that "we are darkiplier"; our hands don't change. In "a heist" our hands changed to women, men, white, black, but in "in space" we have seemingly masculine hands during the whole show

Now, the gloves could be a “convenience” thing and they just didn’t wanna get new actors, all I saying is that it supports mats theory
Something I find interesting is in the initial ending, if mark dies, the rest of it is pretty normal, with you able to fix the ship and be safe in the end. Once mark is removed, things ended the best way they could. That is of course, until we reset again

It's really genius, Mark has unintentially made it so viewers have to watch all of his content to find the clues to the story, even in podcast episodes, we find hints.
Actor Mark appears briefly in a "meta" ending. If you keep opening the doors the voice tells you to, you eventually end up behind the scenes on set, stumble upon Actor Mark, then are glitched back to the warp core door

@@Matiu0s I don't know if you know this, but they're literally the same person. All of the characters mark plays, other than dark or warf, are actor Mark. If you watch Damien, he's wearing that outfit. The idea is that this whole thing is him trying to act out scenarios where he's a hero or some sort of main character.
I also thought it was interesting that Celci, played by Pamela, is head of Cryo, tying her to her past character who had a similar role as a keeper for Damien in a permanent winter. Celci also says “It looks like someone is going to have to put the colonists first and it looks like it’s going to be me, as usual” which shows her attitude as a protector, like Celine. Lastly, she bickers with Mark whenever they’re on screen together. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that it’s not Celine’s consciousness or anything, only in the idea of the multiverse that these personalities and characters appear as different roles. An argument could be made for Gunther and the Detective, too.
His theory could still hold up, just in more subtle way.
To add on to this, there is that one ending in part 1 where you just go into Cryo and Celci says "go to sleep," directly paralleling Celine from Damien
Markiplier Should have copyrighted MCU(Markiplier Cinematic Universe) , that kind of foresight would have changed the entire world.

I am so grateful you do theories for these, there’s so much I’ve forgotten or didn’t connect. It makes so much more sense now (the series as a whole).

I have the same one. Theres one crystal on the top, looking similar to when the crystal was attached to our hand. And the crystal on the relic is blue too.

There is a secret in part 2 that connects everything. Warfstache comes out of a party room and books an interview with us. That interview date is the a heist with markiplier release date. And we do get an interview there. And in wilford "motherlovin" Warfstache, when Abe arrives, he slides out the room for a second, thats when he was booking our interview in in space with markiplier.
The fact that mark is now streaming this video when it was just uploaded is incredible to me

Now, I know that the prediction of part 2 was incorrect, but I would like to point something else out. We're also considered attractive in A Date With Markiplier, which included Darkiplier, so we can't be Darkiplier then. In fact, also in A Date With Markiplier, there's an ending where Warfstache appears and shows us our true form, Chica. Mark's dog. And that's after Mark calls us attractive. Confusing, yes, but connected.
I haven’t even finished the video, but this is crazy. It’s like Mark created a universe like Stephen King did. This is wild.

Interesting enough, at the start of ISWM when you are walking down the corridor to the captain quarters, you see what appears to be old man markiplier himself leavening lifesupport. Most likely hinting that it was old mark that messed with the ship before cryosleep.

Nah, story wise dark has never been a threat to the viewer. I think those were just an alien that lured us with the promise of seeing darkiplier. Hence the "Just kidding~" when we do actually open the door.

I love this theory, found myself getting all giddy. I must mention though, there are lots of connections from heist to space; the crystal on the box and the crystal that ends up on our glove; being in space for a few seconds in heist; Mark's jail number and suit number. There's a lot and I wonder how it correlates to all of this.

I think a lot of it is similar to the Unified Pixar Theory, the idea that every movie produced by Pixar Animation all take place in a shared universe, just at different times. We're seeing all these references and easter eggs, and trying to tie it to some grand vision, when in reality, it's just something Mark puts in all his big projects. He may just like a certain number, or using similar plot points across unrelated stories. That's not to say he won't take those references and tie them together later. I'm just saying that it hasn't been planned that way from the beginning.
let me add a tiny obscure detail here. in "A Heist with Markiplier" darkiplier's blue and red colours change a little. the red becomes a lot more prominent. also notice that darkipliers suit changed to white. the marks on celci's credentials are also white. just a small connection i saw.
You were really scaring me with hinting to Celci being an antagonist. I trusted her in a lot of my endings and she just seemed like a cool (No pun intended) character.

Coming back to this after the release of part 2 - Firstly your acting and character were fantastic Mat! Secondly, while you may not have been entirely correct, I think you’re onto an overarching storyline for the greater Markiplier universe. I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next!
It does shoot down the "Engineer mark is Actor Mark" imo, since it makes no sense that Actor Mark would so CLEARLY make himself the villian in a story, he's too arrogant for that, one theory I had was that we aren't Damien, but the viewer, the one who's body was taken and used so long ago, now just a puppet to Damien, Celine, and Actor Mark
At the end of pt.2 You can see Darkiplier picking up the warpcore, the same old blue and red accents, with the echoing voice, so that kinda debunked this, can't wait for your update video though.
I still enjoy imagining Matt’s completely uncut reel of him doing the Mack goes crazy route going on for maybe 40 minutes while Mark watches with only lightly stunned silence

Coming back here after seeing the events of both Part 1 and 2 of In Space with Markiplier, it all mask sense in a way. In Space with Markiplier is actually a Prequel to the events of A Heist with Markiplier. The Blue Jewel in box and the warp stone (if i may call it that) are the exact same jewel. This brings a whole new ball game to the park
Having gotten to the end of Part 2 and seeing how it connects to Heist, I'm excited to see what else Amt will say!
The thing that intrigued me the most about the whole story was the idea of a semi-aware warp core advanced enough(or created by an advanced enough civilization, if you will) to be capable of detecting and resolving paradoxes(or attempting to do so). If it's not literally a sentient machine that exists to monitor and ensure the stability of the universe. And, of course, its ability to recognize "suitable hosts"... whatever the criteria for it may be in the eyes of that machine.
The fact he uploaded this while Mark is livestreaming makes me realize this is coordinated.

I think you may have missed something, Mat. The way "Dorene" was spelled on that sticky note, if you look closely, is "DorINE" with an I.
I posit that Celci and Dorine are connected by more than just a red herring. Look at their names, taking the aforementioned spelling correction into account.
CELci. dorINE. CELINE. I think Dorine is actually an aged up version of Celci. I think they're the same person. I think they're both Celine.

It might also explain, if Mark is Actor Mark and Celci is Celine, why they hate each other so much. They fight like cats and dogs. And they seem to share a history as well.

Oof unfortunately as of part 2 this seems more like old Mark is just the Mark we've been seeing after trying to fix everything loop after loop only to find our solution is in fact the right action. He apologized for what he's done in those loops to recreate the wormhole generator.
His desperation to be the hero and inadvertently creating the problem in hold on/let go can still fit the Actor Mark, but it's too earnest compared to the pure ego that character would have.

I love how matpat purposely puts out a video about how making theories changes the outcome of stuff, then also putting out this sort of spoof theory in order to get us to believe that he's actually in the dark and whatever happens changes because of What he says. Which actually makes when they pull the reveal that one of the endings is a Mack ending even more cool being 4D chess, All that purposeful misdirection and well-timed videos. All that social engineering to try and make sure that we feel like Matt Pat is going to be in the dark. Bravo and well done, This is the true ARG I needed at 2:00 a.m. in the morning

I've been from A Date with Markiplier and back then I NEVER thought that thing that I thought just funny date stuff, is actually gonna become a full fleshed out lore
Haven't watched it yet, but the box has a crystal at the top of it, that looks suspiciously like the crystal in the hand of your character in in space with markiplier
It is in fact something mentioned in Heist : a temporal displacement device
because it is. can confirm that it is the same. although the additional device teleports you to the warp core and back also means that your characer has been killed in another dimention, because how else would she get that crystal on her hands with the device

As for the grandma character and some others, certain characters seem to have views past the fourth wall. Like, when she said 'do you even know who you are', she may have been speaking to the captain, but was referring to us the viewers. Similarly, darkiplier is speaking directly to the viewers when we open the door. Most of the loop aware characters seem to have echoes of previous events. Warfstache and darkiplier both reference us just picking nonsensical stuff to find secrets. Also, the captain character seems to have no real memories of any of this stuff. We can moreso nudge them, I suppose you could say.
What about the *"SECRET"* that the Narrator gives us out of pure irritation if you choose not to trust the Bandit

Question, what is “it”? What i thought to be a darkiplier role was the horror aspect of in space. Makes sense we are darkiplier but then I remembered “it” with the jumpscares still having marks face and voice. Very curious and maybe im just dumb but id still like to know if anyone has theories
I think "it" was that weird glowing eyes thing in the cryopod when you choose "Put out the fire"

The “it” was just showing you were paranoid, it’s not actually anything! Similar to how conspiracy theorists use “they” for some all-knowing entity, ya know?
"it" was the Captain's paranoia, as he was expecting something to go wrong like it had done before, but had surprisingly been alright. Then, the Captain was paranoid that some unfortunate event would arise.

Everyone, I just realized that the trailer of "In space with Markiplier" shows the first invincible ship (NOT THE INVINCIBLE 2). While in the show, takes place in the invincible 2. I don't know if it has any significance to it, but it seems to be important to the story.
In Markapliers latest video (3 scary games, second game, snake hotel) he was hinting about Darkaplier. That might be something worth looking into.

Yup, this is a very surface level theory if you dig deeper into the lore. I really hope he at least attempts to explain the Warfstache mask's significance.

Also I looked closer at the crew's ID pictures from Mark's Instagram and noticed that Celci's name seems to be longer than how it's actually spelt out. Even with a font like that it doesn't seem like her name would be that long
Maybe that name could've been Celiene, but someone (I'm betting on Actor Mark) scratched it out and renamed her to Celci

I noticed this rewatching the Heist videos, the name tag Mark’s character wears in Space matches the one that was on his prison uniform! I don’t know if there’s a connection or not. Hope you see this Matt!

In the end of hold on, after the credits we see Darkiplier picking up the crystal, he is wearing a ring, but Mrs Whitaker also has a ring, as said in this video, Celine could be Mrs Whitaker, she is probably lying about not being married or she just kept her ring when she broke up.
Darkiplier is Celine and Damien’s souls, has Darkiplier and Mrs Whitakers ring a connection?
we get one or two frames with a version of mark in a detective outfit during some of the glitchy scenes... except it's not a noir style and seems more in line with something from Heist, but I don't know what it is ^^;

Something i found odd was that the player gets blamed even though mark is the one messing things up (warp core in the first place, wanting to attack wug, not having proper systems "life support is online, unless it's not, and then we wouldn't know until we passed out" "Why do you have so many selfdestruct protocols and only one repair protocol?", general behaviour, etc.)
