I graduated from breathing school early in life. Very early.
So as an MMA and general fightsports fan who suffers from mental health issues, I did a fistpump when I saw this video come up. Couple of things I want to elaborate on, that you touched on in this video.
1. Systema is a martial art, in the sense that Iron Qigong and Chi Manipulation are martial arts. It's a series of boxing and grappling techniques, some of highly questionable offensive or defensive applications in and of themselves, bound together with weaponized traditional Russian dance moves (no I'm not joking) and a distinctly Eastern Orthodox church-flavor of Woo Woo Nonsense. Probably the most ludicrous thing I've seen a Systema practitioner say, is that his palm heel blow directed at an opponent's breastbone would "open your opponent's eyes to the face of God and force him to confront his sins."
So in other words, it was the 5 Point Exploding Heart Strike, combined with Ghost Rider's Penance Glare. Gotcha!
2. Much of the MMA world was concerned about Diego's mental state throughout this debacle. Diego's a legend of the sport, but one of his less proud accolades is that he's one of the fighters that have absorbed the most clean head-strikes in MMA's formal history, at well over a thousand in his case. A lot of people were theorizing that Fabia was exploiting a guy whose mental condition was precarious, that he was predating on someone who may be experiencing CTE symptoms. This only made us want him gone from the sport more.
3. So there's an actual video of Fabia "striking" Diego while he's bat-hanging from a chin up bar. Thing is, he's really just more lightly tapping him on the muscles, and Diego is covering up, like they're somehow drilling defense from... an upside-down hanging position? As someone who crosstrained boxing to make me a better hockey player, I have questions about this sort of athletic strategy.
Anyway, even beyond it being some extreme silliness, the video was shot in soft focus and sensuous slow motion, and was actually uploaded to the School of Self Awareness' OnlyFans page. Which Fabia swore up and down, wasn't for porn. I want it to be clear, orientations between consenting adults are all valid, and gender being a spectrum instead of a binary is a beautiful thing, so this isn't coming from a place of intolerance, just observation: it looked like grabass. Legitimate grabass. Further, it was uploaded to the site where people do make money off of uploading their Legitimate Grabass videos. But if you dare say it didn't look like MMA training, that it looked more like adult entertainment, Fabia would get all mad and beet-red and Online about how you were disrespecting a legend.
This didn't win Fabia many fans, either.
4. There are drills in MMA, where a fighter in training will subject themselves to a free-for-all of sorts, where they aren't just sparring with one fighter, but multiple, who will tag in and tag out unexpectedly. This is to teach the fighter how to adapt against an opponent that might have the ability to drastically alter their style or strategy mid-round, as well as condition their endurance by having them spar continually with multiple opponents, each of whom who can just tag out and take a breather when they start to get tired.
My guess, is that Fabia saw such a drill once, and given that his place of residence is a condominium at the corner of Dunning and Kruger, I'm going to assume he immediately thought he could make a more effective (and more eXtreme) drill, by just chasing the multiple fighters around with a combat knife. This is only a theory, but it's one I'm proud of, and prove me wrong.
Anyway, sorry for the wall of text Dr. Grande. I'm a fan of your work, and this video provoked more thoughts than they usually do in me!

I don't know anything about his childhood trauma though.

I have never clicked on a video so fast! I'm a massive fan of combat sports, especially MMA/UFC. I actively participating in competitions and for you Dr to be covering Fabia is so important you expose him. He is an absolute charlatan who manipulated Diego. We love Diego but I believe Fabia is a very dangerous individual.

Breath work is actually pretty phenomenal stuff. I know it sounds silly, however it does wonders for anxiety, pain and focus.

I've been doing breath work 24/7 for more than 30 years now. I'm offering classes if anyone needs help. Expensive classes of course - I'm really experienced, so it's worth it.
A boxer once showed me how he breathed when throwing jabs to make them more effective, it was impressive. He said the learning of proper breathing came from the Bruce Lee teaching.

Yes. proper breathing is critical to proper movement, stamina, mental state etc, especially in high stress environments. Then you have nose breathing vs mouth breathing, specific techniques employed both during rest and during activity. It's huge, however I certainly wouldn't ask Fabia for advice about anything, especially breathing.
Boxing and other Martial arts have been using the breathing technique for far longer than Bruce Lee lol

There's much more craziness to the story including an onlyfans account, a death punch and Fabia throwing around insane allegations against Diego, the Nevada State Athletic Commission, other fighters. Conor McGregor also said that he'd promote a fight between Diego and Fabia

Well Sue I can tell you I"m 60 years old too, and I was at the hospital last week they assured me I have been doing it right bcz they were able to get a pulse so I left the hospital feeling reassured, so my advice too you is carry on as you have been, as long as your lips don't turn blue you should be ok. :)

As an MMA connoisseur, I know this story very well. Fabia is nothing but a scam artist. Diego unfortunately has taken way too many shots to the head and he's even fallen for scams in the past. You can tell he's a crap trainer when the super small community of MMA coaches and fighters cant stand him and want him out of the sport.

Doctor! "Breathing" of course means to learn how to coordinate the breathing with the movement. This is really a high achievement in the art of movement, when you manage to do this perfectly. Didn't know this about Martial Arts but in dance sport and of course it plays a big role in Yoga and Pilates. I try to forgive you your joke, but believe me it's hard to do so! 🙂

My world's collide. Fabia seems like a grandiose narcissist to me. Constant exaggeration. Always entitled. Attention seeking. Reactivity to critics and lashing out. Strange words and ideas with seemingly no filter of whether the ideas are good or bad. Low insight. Word salad.. And finally raging at Sanchez with non sequiturs after the split. On the bright side, the UFC knows the deal and may bring Sanchez back in.

I've never heard of either of these two men. My biggest struggle listening to this analysis was the fact that every time Dr Grande said "Diego Sanchez", all I heard was "Dirty Sanchez".

Hey Dr. I’d to recommend Mike Tyson, he’s such a complicated, fascinating and vulnerable character.
Also if you had to choose between being knocked out by Tyson in his prime or being tossed out of a moving rollercoaster what would you choose?
He's an amazing character. At his peak you'd think he has/had NPD but has insight. He struggles we know, and he says he's an "extremist" and I think he's self aware in the sense he is. He has vcisous narccisstic streak that flares up here and there. But he does need to be adored, with age he is more comfortable. He slips in an out of awareness of his ego and it slipping but with him it's profound

Dr. Grande's subject of analysis today has little in common with Eckhart Tolle in terms of instruction or behavior.
There is no legitimate reason to suggest they should be "grouped" together.
I recommend Mr. Tolles books as a means of psycological freedom.(The Power of Now)

Breath awareness is an incredible tool in self transformation.
Following the breath sends a signal to the body that everthing is alright.
It turns off the fight or flight responce, which in many can be active most of the time.
Regular practitioners of following their breath can stay very calm, even in emergency situations.
A calm mind and body produces creative decisions even in difficult times.
There is a transformation from an irrational human being to a rational and creative human being.
If not for Dr Grande I seriously wouldn't know about the majority of these people.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Two of my favorite things, MMA and The Dr. Grande Podcast have crossed paths. The Joshua Fabia saga was bizarre and at times, intriguing, but above all, very concerning.
MMA gets a bad rap and it undoubtedly has its issues, but the stuff that goes on outside of the events is almost as entertaining as the fights themselves. A lot of very big personalities make for all sorts of scenarios that are funny, strange, shocking, dramatic, inspiring, and sometimes sad. It's a fantastic sport that is completely different than went it began. I had basically zero interest in it until about 7 years ago. Now it is literally the only sport I follow. I highly recommend it.
The only 2 dislikes are from diego and joshua

Joshua Fabia's business model of " fake it till you make it" didn't work for him. I am convincef that Dr. G can now add MMA to his repertoire of comprehensive knowledge. 🪴🪴🪴
