One of my most favorite songs in the whole world is done by these two Paul and Ringo called Walk With Me I love it more than any other Beatle song it was the last song my sister heard before we lost her after a failed hospital stay her heart had calcified with the left over radiation left within her torso had destroyed most of her organs. It was such a beautiful day when she heard it and then gave a concerted look; WHo is this? I told her and she said I thought I recognized their voices.
I agree with John on the issue of the Beatles breaking up it made some great music from the four of them as different artists. Oh and by the way if you want an album after Abbey Road that has all 4 Beatles working together look at Ringo's first Album Ringo each one he is with one of the guys 2 with John 2 with George and 2 with Paul and Linda McCartney it's the self titled album the one with I'm The Greatest.
Looking forward to this new release. I don't know why people say it wasn't a very good album. I thought it had some great songs on it . If I can ask a question, wasn't there a film being made by Ron Howard. I think covering the earlier years. Was it ever finished. Thank you
It was during the Abbey Road recording session when Paul made that remark about George songs to John. I have read somewhere they were talking about doing another album and going back on the road, touring. Then in October of 69 during renewing of a new Capitol Record contract, John and Paul got into a screaming match with each other over a offer to do a TV special. Paul wanted to do the special and John didn't. So John broke up the Beatles. Then Paul went and begin recording his solo album after he and Allen Klein had told John not to announce about the breakup of the Beatles to the public.
And George certainly would have deserved 4 songs being that Something and Here Comes The Sun are arguably (and in my opinion) the best songs on the masterpiece Abbey Road.
Considering some other bands, mainly The Stones and Kinks, it is curious the The Beatles did disband when they did. Also considering the Anthology reunion. I'm guessing that their fame actually was their undoing. I guess another factor was the Lennon - McCartney songwriting team more or less dissolving. I always wondered if they might have just needed a hiatus for a year or so. But it seemed John and Paul's styles evolved away from each other. It was interesting that they all used each other on their solo albums, leading many to believe, myself included, that there might eventually be even a temporary reunion. Fate certainly stepped in.
Thanks for chiming in, Gary. The Stones still put on quite the show, and that’s fine for them. But I have never been able to imagine The Beatles together into the 70s and beyond. Burn out / fade away and all that... Grateful for all they accomplished in their relatively short time together.
I loved hearing a interview where Paul and John said of Ringo that they hoped he wasn't as bad as the way he looked his clothing and attitude was that of the Liverpool roughriders who were akin to Hells Angels and they were sure hoping he was house trained. Of course years later who else could have been so important to this band. Always great music starts with a good beat.
