Decided to throw my hat into the ring the day the lottery opened, but I knew being selected would be a long shot. After seeing these numbers, it feels even more impossible. Here’s to hoping!
Hello thanks for your videos . We really enjoy them. We will be doing the nyc marathon ourselves next November. I would like to ask you if you can take your insta 360 x3 camera and the stick aswell . I have read the regulations recently and seem you are not allowed to carry it with you. I saw some of your vids and you might have some tips please. Espescially when carrying it during the marathon
Eric, saw this a few weeks ago, decided to enter on a whim, and obviously got selected. So glad you uploaded this. I've watched a few of your other informational videos. And yes, I'm already nervous trying to decide where to stay, will I find everything without getting lost, and so much more. Thanks and hoping I don't bother you to much. Did you get in?
@@Dirtyoldsneakers Eric, I am sorry to hear you did not get in. I have really enjoyed your videos in past years and have watched several of them many times over. Here's hoping for next year for you.
You will find everything easily without getting lost. Manhattan is very easy to find your way around in; the actual NYC Marathon course is very well marked with many course marshals, and there is an entire "army" of volunteers at the Finish area to give you directions back to your hotel if you are too exhausted to think! You MUST find a hotel now -- the "budget" place where I stay for the marathon is already sold out for next November 6 -- so please make your hotel reservations now. Hurry!
@@Dirtyoldsneakers there was no lotto for the Marine Corps Marathon this year! You just sign up! I saw it still had spots available, so I signed up! It was way easier than I expected, and it still had spots available 2-3 weeks after it opened. I think MCM is still my favorite marathon, but NYC is a close second!
I just remembered I shook Peter Ciaccia’s hand at the finish line last year. (Or maybe it was a fist bump, I can’t remember.) I recognized him from watching the NYC Marathon on TV so many times and I said, “oh, hey!”
Ravi, that is cool that you got to briefly meet Peter Ciaccia at the marathon finish line. I have also only briefly met him, but he seems like a very fun and interesting character. Good luck with your upcoming marathons that you mentioned in another post here.
Eric, it will break my heart if you don't get into the NYC Marathon this year, as your videos have given me much enjoyment and inspiration since I found you a couple of years ago. Good luck! -- I'm in the 15-Plus group -- I look forward to you joining us in a few years. I assume you know the 15-Plus group gets a reception at Tavern on the Green the Friday before the NYC Marathon AND a start position of Blue Start Wave 1 Corral F. I hope you're part of it soon.
They got rid of the 3X Lotto loser provision because they were having far more people qualify that way than through the Lotto, and there were way too many! They might someday get rid of the Streakers provision too, or amend it to 20X, or a certain number of consecutive NYC Marathons, not just 15 total. But that’s just speculation! 🤷🏻♂️
@@saini1976 Ravi, I do understand why thy had to start limiting the number of guaranteed entries of people who got rejected three times -- but I get very nervous if anyone talks about changing the Streakers/15 Plus entry method, as I am in that group. I love that race so much. I am NOT fast enough to qualify for guaranteed entry by time.
A guy named Dave Obelkevich has run 44 consecutive NYC Marathons! He’s 78 or 79. In 2021 it took him about 7 1/2 hours to finish, but in his prime in 1982, he was about a 2:40 marathoner!
@@saini1976 Yes, I have met Dave several times at our Streakers party at Tavern on the Green each year two days before the marathon. Also Connie Brown, who has done it almost that many times. Dave is so sweet. He is a retired music teacher and orchestra violionist. I don't really know him, really, but have talked with him several times.
@@cathynewyork7918 Wow! That’s great! Connie Brown has 42 consecutive finishes! About 1000 runners are eligible for automatic entry via the Streakers provision, but many (maybe most) don’t make use of it, so it doesn’t have that big an effect on the field. I don’t think they will change it anytime soon, or if they do, they will grandfather in any current members of the club. The Marine Corps Marathon had the “Ground Pounders” who had run every single MCM since it was started in 1976 to celebrate the bicentennial of the USA’s independence. I think 2019 was the first year that there were 0 left who had run every single MCM.
Good luck in the NYC Marathon drawing today, Eric. I have enjoyed your videos for several years. I really hope you get in to the NYC Marathon.
1st time ever entering the draw and got selected! I feel extremely lucky to be part of this year's New York marathon
Cool, Eduardo! Congratulations! You will absolutely love it. This race is very exciting!
Thanks for the break down. Always enjoy watching your videos!

Eric -- I enjoy your videos very much, so I'm worried -- did you get accepted?
Ahh only a few weeks left!
Is there like a certain time of day we will know if we got entry?
Nope. They do it in batches throughout the day.
Just keep checking your credit card to see if it got charged. That happens hours before you receive the NYRR acceptance email.
I threw my name in the hat, but I am not overly optimistic. I have a backup plan to end my 2022 season if I dont get in.
Me too, it's called Philly. Or maybe I'll try for Marine Corps since I never get to do it.
