Civic Roof Repair FINISHED ! Doing "BONDO" BODY Work and PAINT ... Part 2
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 18 окт 2024
- Another project is officially finished. In this video I did all of the body filler (bondo) work, got the roof ready for paint and got everything painted. Im pleased with the result, it came out great. I built a spotter tool and also a pulling bridge that I've used on this repair (you can see me use both of them in the previous video) Both of these tools made the repair so much easier, later on I'll post a video about how I built both of those tools. Next video is just around the corner, stay tuned... CHEERS !!!

Very nice little car you have there now. It came out great. You must have saved a fortune doing the repair yourself. Just goes to show what can be achieved at home with some skill and a handful of tools. Audio was very quiet at the end again. I've just shot a short video with my iPhone and the audio was quite low, so I used a free video conversion tool called Handbrake to convert the file from a .MOV to a .MP4 and in the process I boosted the audio up to a good level. The other advantage was that it reduced the file size from 108MB to 33MB.
I was filming yesterday and now I'm using a a dedicated microphone that clips to my shirt so that ways it's always same distance away from my face. Hopefully that will keep the audio levels consistent.
Great content👌
You do nice work. Love the channel, I'll be watching some more.
Thank you.. I'll have more vids coming soon :)
There cannot be neighbors that don't hate you, doing that on the front lawn under a tent lol
Not really, I've lived in my neighborhood for a while and I'm cool with everyone on the block... I don't spray a lot, and when I do I normally do it during the week in the middle of the day while everyones at work :))) So this way there is no hate... LOL
well done
Cool...👍 keep ‘em coming !!!
Gooood jop prou ...
Thank you Hussam !!!
Very nice. Your neighbors never complained about the fumes, etc? I would be worried about getting over spray on the homes, cars, etc.
I paint rarely, and when I do it's usually in the middle of the day sometime on Mon-Fri when most people are at work. And by the time the overspray makes it 20-30 feet away from the work area it's dry enough that it won't stick to anything. No neighbor complaints yet :)
Да с соседями тебе брат повезло 👍
С соседями всë норм 👍👍👍
Sick 👌🏼
Thank you Sir !!
Great job how many gallons is your compressor and when spraying paint what is your air pressure thank you
My compressor is 80 gallon capacity, I use different pressure depending on the gun that I use and also different pressures are used when different materials are being sprayed such as primer, basecoat or the clearcoat
Fix206 thanks for getting back to me I just painted my sister 2001 civic I have a 21 gallon compressor and noticed when spraying the roof pressure would go down below 20 lb and it ended up having a little well kind of a lot of grany texture
Yeah, clearcoat likes being sprayed at higher pressure (sustained) :-) also having a good gun helps out a lot with getting a nice end result
I have deep scratches in my car roof no holes do I need to use a hardener or just a filler? Thank you
Filler without a hardner will not do anything, filler has to be activated with hardner in order to do what it was designed to do
With the Mazda you've taken a 50:50 mixture with thinner and clear coat, here you're using a fade-out thinner for the transition to the clear coat.
What is the better solution in practice?
I wasn't satisfiyed with the fade-thinner I took. Probably it was too warm (25°C), the fade-thinner evaporates extremely fast and the surface structure was bad.
You can do either or, i didn't have any clear blender on hand when I worked on Mazda so I just diluted the clear coat. On the civic roof I used a clear blender and I think it's even thinner then 50/50 clear. In my opinion blender in the can lays down a bit nicer and makes for smother transition.
@@fix206 what was the brand of clear blender, or could you link here por favor?
Que spray é esse que você usou na emenda da tinta?
DeVilbis Tekna ProLight
I've just had the hood fly open, smash the windshield and roof. There is a "vee" crease over the rear view mirror mount. I want to attempt this fix, but with a twist. I will use 3M panel bonding adhesive to attach a roof section over the repaired roof. I don't think I can make the repair appear as smooth as it was before the accident without bonding the new panel over the repaired panel. The plastic strips should hide the transition on the sides.
Does your car have a sunroof? The reason I ask is because it would be much easier for you to do a repair if it did have one. if the entire front of the roof got pushed down like in the case of my Honda Civic, then you can also put a jack inside of the car and use a piece of 2x4 lumber between the jack and the bottom of the roof to bring the roof line back up to where It suppose to be. And then section out the damaged portion of the roof skin in front of the sunroof, but you won't be able to section just the front it if you don't have a sunroof, so to get it done the right way, you may have to replace the entire skin of the roof. Hope my explanation made sense.
@@fix206 The roof unfortunately lacks the sunroof. I noticed that there is more structure for the sunroof models. Most of the roof flexed when the glass hit the edge but the mount for the review mirror was stiffer. The hood could probably be repaired, that's the odd part of this. A few weeks ago a car backed into the Honda at a grocery story and damaged the radiator core support and the hood latch. I need to repair that damage as well.
Sounds like you got a project on your hands, more often then not it's easier to just swap out the hood for an aftermarket copy. Aftermarket parts are generally pretty inexpensive
@@fix206 Its hard to find good hoods. Most of these cars are taken out of service by front collisions.
Some remove the roof including about half of the A-pillars, saying its less welding that way. I have no clue as to the best way to repair the roof of a '05 Civic
In your case you'd have to replace the entire roof skin, there is no way to section it or try to repair the damaged section, all depending on the extent of the damage

what was your psi for the clear
I believe I kept the preasure at about 26-28 psi. But this clear was was pretty thin, so for thicker clear I probably would have died the gun in a bit differently. Hope that helps. Cheers!!
What’s next?
