Any chance you could do a direct A/B "GT120 vs GT1" comparsion?
I'm on the edge of ordering either of the two but I really cant decide wether to go full dopesmoker or be more versatile (also wondering how each amp works with, say, V30s versus Swamp Thangs or Silver Wolfs...)

Yeah, I should totally make that video, it would be really interesting! If it helps, for me, the Matamp GT120 NMV is the better amp or at least the one I like more. I’d only go for the GT1 if I didn’t have a place where I could crank the volume, because the GT120 is insanely loud. Even with pedals and the volume rolled back, it’s still massive, but the tone is absolutely spectacular something I just can’t quite get with the GT1.
About speakers, I use a Matamp 2x12 cab with Hot 100s, but all the options you mentioned are super interesting. V30s are amazing if you want to focus on mids, very Dopesmoker-style. Swamp Thangs bring that deep, heavy low-end that’s perfect for Doom and Stoner, while Silver Wolfs might be the most versatile of the bunch. If you’re in a band with a loud bass player, V30s might also work really well. :)
In short, if your priority is that pure Doom/Stoner/Dopesmoker tone without worrying about volume or losing a bit of versatility for faster or different styles (which the GT1 Master Volume version can handle more easily) then the GT120 with a fuzz pedal or a RAT is, in my opinion, the holy grail of Stoner sound.
But if you’re after an amp that performs great at lower volumes, is easier for band practice, gigs in smaller venues or pubs, or even for playing hardcore or heavy stuff every now and then, the GT1 would be the way to go.

damn that was fast as fckk!! thanks Mike!!!
so essentially, if I have a Marshall, I dont really need a GT1? (since the JCM800 does super well with metal/tight stuff, and my JCM2000TSL comes close enough to an 800)
the GT120 being loud as fuck sure does come in handy, since I AM that loud bass player haha
also every GT120 I heard a bass going through sounded beastly so thats also very attractive
do you think, since all Matamps are custom orders, there's any chance for a buffered send return as well as triode/pentode switching integrated?

Ah, great! I think the JCM800 or similar is also perfect, and if volume becomes an issue, there’s always the Green Matamp Master Volume. The truth is, the GT120 sounds incredible with bass, although the GT200 is even better for bass! :) With my band, Wild Fuzz Trip, we recorded a cover of Saint Karloff’s Interstellar Voodoo, and we tracked the bass with the GT200-it sounds amazing if you’d like to check it out! :)
I believe if you’re going for a custom Matamp through the Custom Shop, there are definitely possibilities, but you’d have to contact them separately to work out the details.

I think I'm pretty set on getting the GT120MV (not having a master volume seems kinda silly), since.. noone is getting this amp to have headroom lmao.
unless an A/B GT1 vs GT120 video convinces me of anything else, but there is NO video haha, have asked Hashtronaut & different people, I wish it existed
I've listened to all of Wild Fuzz Trip, didn't know that one was a cover! so dope!
GT200 seems to not be made anymore, but also feels like total overkill if I'm gonna use it on guitar hahhah (more leaning towards a DR201 as a full bass amp, that can give me insane cleans for guitar)
BUT thats gonna be a total
of like 5000€, so one thing after the next hahahah thanks anyways for always taking time to respond!!!

What are your thoughts on those zombie dust pickups I had a chance to snag some but I passed and got something else and after hearing this I feel I may have missed out

Hi ! Thanks! personally, I like them a lot. I have the Doomster model for 6 and 7 strings and they work really well for heavy music, have high output, meaning they deliver a powerful signal…However, what’s interesting is that despite their high output, they maintain a warm and organic character, which sets them apart from other high-output pickups that often lose musicality or sensitivity. In other words, they combine power with a warm and expressive sound., it always comes down to personal taste. The worst part was definitely the waiting time; I think they’re currently unavailable.

@ thanks for the advice and I can tell ya I am happy with the shinns I decided to go with the YOB endorsement sold me on them but I will definitely get the next pair of doomsters I see no matter the price
